Her choice should not have surprised you. Going off on her own, disregarding her sister and her soldiers? That is exactly the sort of behavior that makes her unfit to lead. Stop trying to defend her, stop ignoring what's right in front of you.
 
Maybe she is a good pony. Maybe she's kind, benevolent, loyal and considerate. That does not always make a good ruler.
