  1. >It had probably been at least a week since you encountered that strange mare.
  2. >At least...you think it had been a week.
  3. >Keeping track of time served no real purpose in your life now.
  4. >All that mattered was day and night.
  5. >You thought about whether or not you'd see her again.
  6. >It was for the best if you didn't.
  7. >Who knows what kind of complications would arise if she tried to take you to her..."home"
  8. >What if she brought others!?
  9. >Perhaps letting her leave unharmed wasn't such a wise move.
  10. >The shock of meeting an intelligent creature other than yourself had made you go soft.
  11. >You curse your lack of foresight.
  12. >Your thoughts are interrupted by a loud grumble from your stomach.
  13. >You audibly sigh, the sound echoing slightly inside the cave you called home.
  14. >It was that time again.
  15. >Surviving in this forest had proven much more difficult than you had initially anticipated.
  16. >It had been days since you ate anything larger than a damn squirrel.
  17. >And the berries you found proved to upset your stomach something fierce.
  18. >In retrospect, you were lucky those things weren't poisonous.
  19. >But there's really no way to know till you try right?
  20. >Groggily, you stand up from the pathetic pile of sticks and leaves you call a bed.
  21. >You stare at the bright light billowing in from the end of the tunnel.
  22. >Good, daylight makes it easier for you to see your prey.
  23. >Your night vision was poor compared to the forest creatures.
  24. >Picking up your makeshift hunting tools, you make your way out of the safety of your home.
  25. >Into the mysterious unknown.

  28.
  29. >The forest was alive.
  30. >You could feel it with each step you made.
  31. >In each croak from the ponds.
  32. >With every tree swayed in the breeze.
  33. >It calmed your nerves.
  34. >As daunting as it might be, this was your world now.
  35. >And you were gonna make it beg for mercy.
  36. >Cautiously, you explore.
  37. >Looking around for anything that might satiate this burning hunger in the pit of your stomach.
  38. >A fox would be nice, but you'd settle for a fruit tree if you had to.
  39. >Beggars can't be choosers after all.
  40. >And in the land of the wild, the only one who wasn't begging was the king.
  41. >How ironic that the thing you encountered resembled the king of the jungle.
  42. >A giant lion-like creature, with wings resembling the devil himself.
  43. >And that menacing tail, the same as a scorpion.
  44. >Only much...MUCH bigger.
  45. >You ate a few scorpions once.
  46. >Tasted pretty good, almost like chicken.
  47. >Until you found the tail tasted like liquid death incarnate.
  48. >It was a good thing you had saved them for a snack at home.
  49. >Being paralyzed for days in the middle of the wilderness would've been a death sentence.
  50. >When you watched that lion-esque creature pass by, you decided to leave it be.
  51. >You could win in a 1 on 1 fight, but one touch from that poison needle would spell your doom.
  52. >And ladyluck never did like to cheer on your side...
  53. >Making sure you were undetected you continued on your travels.
  54.
  55. >It was getting darker.
  56. >A rough guess would say its only just after noon.
  57. >But the dense foliage was cutting out what little sunlight you were offered.
  58. >You didn't like the dark
  59. >It made hiding easy.
  60. >But that worked in your prey's favor as well.
  61. >The only real light source came from odd florescent mushrooms.
  62. >Glowing in a dull blue hue.
  63. >Deciding to pick one, it continues to glow in your palm.
  64. >At least having a lantern of sorts would make the trip home easier.
  65.
  66. >Time was dragging on
  67. >By the time you had made it out of the unlit section of the forest it was already nightfall.
  68. >Luckily your eyes had become accustomed to the darkness.
  69. >But your stomach had grown angry on your little "excursion"
  70. >Finally getting your priorities back on track, you focus on finding dinner.
  71. >Your patience pays off.
  72. >Slowly, a pair of creatures comes into your vision.
  73. >A mother deer and its child, snacking on some leaves from the nearby bushes.
  74. >You take a moment to consider whether it might be as intelligent as those ponies.
  75. >But the pain from your stomach ends that strain of thought quickly.
  76. >Stuffing your "lantern" in your bearskin pouch, you begin to stalk the creatures.
  77. >The mother's ears shift around at the sound of your sudden movement.
  78. >Damn it, gonna have think fast.
  79. >Without a second thought you take aim with your trusty spear and hurl it with all your might.
  80. >The mother takes a solid hit, straight into the gut.
  81. >The foal takes off, the mother following behind.
  82. >God DAMN IT!
  83. >Not only is your meal getting away, but she's taking your SPEAR along for the ride too!
  84. >You calm down and give chase.
  85. >She wouldn't get far with a fatal wound like that and you knew it.
  86. >Bleeding profusely, it was only a matter of time before the trail caught up to her.
  87.
  88. >There she was, laying on her unwounded side in an open grassy area.
  89. >The edge of the forest surrounded the deer on one side.
  90. >A sheer mountain rock face blocked the other side just a few meters away.
  91. >Coming up to claim the spoils of your victory you look over the body.
  92. >Its still breathing.
  93. >Faintly...
  94. >That won't do at all.
  95. >With a quick SNAP, you end its misery.
  96. >It was going to be a rather large meal.
  97. >Finally you could take a break from eating blasted fruit.
  98. >As you start to pick it up to take home your stomach audibly groans.
  99. >That's right... you've been hungry since this morning and its almost a new day now.
  100. >Deciding to make your load a little "lighter" you begin to tear into it.
  101. >A delicious feast in deed.
  102. >If only it would stay that way...
  103. >You're interrupted by the sound of three shrill voices.
  104. >"CUTIE MARK EXPLORERS! YAYYY!"
  105. >Bloody hell, not again.
  106. >Why was it ALWAYS when you were eating.
  107. >You turn around and face the mountain wall.
  108. >There lies 3 young foals.
  109. >You couldn't make out their details but from your perspective they came in yellow, white, and orange.
  110. >What defenseless creatures like this were doing out here you hadn't the slightest idea.
  111. >They were either incredibly brave.
  112. >Or pathetically foolish.
  113. >"Come ahn girls, we're sure ta get ahr cutie marks if we explore this here spooky forest!"
  114. >You heard the white one's voice crack a little
  115. >"I-i don't know guys, its really scAry out here, I think we should go home"
  116. >The orange one spoke up fluttering what little she could call "wings".
  117. >"Pshh come on Sweetie Belle, everyone knows there's nothing scarey here."
  118. >Sweetie Belle...you memorized that name carefully.
  119. >"That's just what grown ups say to keep us from playing out here"
  120. >The white one hangs its head down, seemingly giving up.
  121. >It seems they hadn't noticed you yet.
  122. >You'd make sure they'd regret that.
  123. >One of your patented bloody snarls gets their attention.
  124. >They all turn to you, dumbstruck by your sight.
  125. >A large blood soaked ape-like creature snarling at them just a few feet away.
  126. >Their eyes widen as you begin to slowly approach.
  127. >Suddenly, the yellow and orange one scream out.
  128. >"RUN AWAY!!!!!"
  129. >You watch as the two run in opposite directions.
  130. >...leaving the white one behind.
  131. >The aura of fear you create seems to grasp it and lock it in place.
  132. >"i-i-..i-i"
  133. >Words fail her as she can't even think straight.
  134. >Finally, you're a mere inch away from her.
  135. >You kneel down to get a closer look and her a shout from the distance.
  136. >"Sweetie Belle! Git outta thar!"
  137. >But the cry falls on deaf ears.
  138. >She wouldn't dare move now.
  139. >Her fear of any sudden movements roots her in place.
  140. >You wipe off the blood from your mouth and lean in closer.
  141. >She winces and closes her eyes accepting her fate.
  142. >You begin to smell her
  143. >She smells sweet, a bit like vanilla candy.
  144. >You take loud breath next to her ear, startling her.
  145. >A musky scent catches your attention.
  146. >Something akin to sugar and urine enters the air.
  147. >Ah she must have wet herself in fear.
  148. >She shivers in terror as you lean over take in a few deep breathes near her behind.
  149. >Strong scents always intrigued you.
  150. >But you move on.
  151. >Almost content, you're about to leave her be until something else catches you attention.
  152. >That mane, it smells...different.
  153. >As if...
  154. >Forgetting to finish your thoughts you lean back and, like a dog, lick the hair on her head.
  155. >Its...sweet! As if you were licking marshmallow dental floss.
  156. >Tears begin to quietly fall down her face as she lets you do as you please.
  157. >You pull away from her hair, move down, and gently lick the tears from her cheeks.
  158. >When she's done shedding tears, you embrace her and slowly stroke her back.
  159. >Her friends watch from the bushes in utter confusion not sure what to do.
  160. >You utter her name in your broken dialect
  161. swEEteh BElll
  162. >She shivers immediately as she hears your disturbing attempt at her name.
  163. >You continue to stroke her till she calms down, unaware of the shocked looks on her friend's faces.
  164. >Finally satisfied, you release her.
  165. >With one last pat on the head you turn around and begin to take what was left of your meal home.
  166. >You had almost forgotten it was there.
  167. >...almost.
  168. >As you heave it over your shoulder, you vaguely hear the scrambled panic of little girls.
  169. >"Ahr you ok sweetie belle?"
  170. >"Did it...did it hurt you?"
  171. >You could care less about their conversation.
  172. >You just hoped you got your point across.
  173. >You're not evil, and you're not a monster.
  174. >You just want to be left alone...
