  1. "Fluffy Research"
  2. 7/?
  3. >You are Dylan, a freelance researcher, mid 20’s, brown hair, lazy attitude and you’re a complete nerd.
  4. >You just got hired by the WWF to study a new type of “animal” that's becoming a problem worldwide.
  5. >They call it a "Fluffy pony"
  6. >you’ve never heard of such a thing and took the case out of curiosity.
  7. >Man was that a stupid idea, you had no idea working with them would be this hard.
  8. >Six weeks have passed since the day Aurora gave birth.
  9. >The other dams gave birth to six healthy foals during this period, most are doing ok, but the herd is slowly starting to notice that their food isn’t as good anymore.
  10. >The food they’ve gathered is slowly starting to decompose, loosing its tiny nutritional value.
  11. >This is giving the fluffies that eat it “tunny owwies” as they call it, eating decomposing food isn’t good for fluffy stomachs from the looks of it.
  12. >To counter this to some light extent, you’ve began adding tiny traces of Vitamins into the water sent to their little water spot, it seems to be helping them.
  13. >Can’t risk doing too much for them though, whi knows what they might do if food suddenly starts popping up everywhere.
  14. >As you take a second overview of the herd you notice that a few of them are standing around purple, asking her about something, curious as always, you listen in.
  15. >”Hewd nu know wa wong… Nummies nu nummies no mo’ Nummies taste ikky, gif tummy owwies da onwy wa-was fix” A Cyan unicorn speaks up gently, seeking advice from Purple.
  16. >”Nummies ikky, mummah nu haf miwk fo babbhes soon…” one of the dams that gave birth a short while ago speaks up, clearly worried by the thought of not having food for her foals.
  17. >”Hewd quiet! Puwpwe nu know wa wong wi nummies. Puwpwe send fwuffies to get nummies soon” Purple replies before she walks off and starts poking stallions at random around the herd.
  18. >The problem is that there’s a raging storm blowing outside today, any fluffy dumb enough to go out there is risking serious injury, the wind is blowing at 20mph out there. At that strength, a fluffy pony would get blown miles in mere minutes.
  19. >As the fluffies in the herd decide who gets to go, you seize the opportunity and bring a small bag of fresh assorted plants outside.
  20. >You avoid detection from the herd and “plant” tiny patches of the stuff under bushes scattered around the clearing.
  21. >You only use about ¼ of the tiny bag, just enough to potentially help them, but hardly enough for the whole herd. The amount you placed would only fill 12 normal fluffy stomachs or 7 hungry ones.
  22. >They’ll have to scavenge for a lot more food on their own or share the tiny amount between them, but it wouldn’t be enough for them all.
  23. >Content with your work, you head back inside and sit down to watch the unlucky fluffies leave the cave to go scavenge for food and sure enough, two min after you arrive, the chosen stallions finish hugging the herd and walk outside.
  24. >You just sit inside your cave and watch them on the monitors, it only took them a minute to go from bone dry, to soaking wet. The stallions are shaking like a tumble dryer and you can faintly hear “Nu wike cowd wa-wa’s”, but they soldier on.
  25. >It doesn’t take them long to find the first patch of plants you put out there, the two stallions that find it, quickly pick it all up and stuff it in their fluff.
  26. >Huh, that’s new… The first time they fetched food they all came with it in their mouths, not fluff.
  27. >Still, the idea is good though, by filling up their fluff first, they can bring more food back to the waiting herd.
  28.
  29. >The stallions due to the weather, energy level and slight stupidity actually manage to stay out there for a good four hours, when they finally start going back; you’d guess by the look of it that some might actually die of hypothermia real soon.
  30. >Their fluff sure is fluffy, but it isn’t water resistant at all, those things are soaked to the bone.
  31. >Still, they manage to reach the cave in the end and shuffle, ice cold inside.
  32. >They’re greeted with cheers and thanks from the other fluffies in the herd; the stallions just stand there, shivering with a smile on their faces.
  33. >Purple walks out of the herd and thanks the stallions in person before she makes them empty their fluff onto the floor, the sight of fresh green grass along with the yellow grass makes the herd restless.
  34. >Plum just raises her hoof and they all go quiet, she then sorts the grass into two piles, one filled with only fresh green grass and one filled with a light mix of both types.
  35. >You just keep on looking, interested in why she cut it in half like that, there’s more than enough for everyone.
  36.
  37. >As you sit there thinking, Purple gently shuffles the green grass pile over to the fluffies with foals, and tells them to eat.
  38. >The mothers quickly hug Purple before they start nibbling up the grass, gently babbling to themselves; “Mummah soo haf mwik fo babbhes, mummah gu mummah”.
  39. >Purple then lets the rest of the herd and she eats from the mixed pile of grass, there are some faint complaints from the herd, but they don’t dare speak up against her rules.
  40. >The herd eats the grass up quickly; nothing is left once they’re done.
  41. >With their stomachs filled to some extent, Purple send the stallions that went outside over to the mares and dams to get cleaned and warmed up.
  42. >The stallions that didn’t go outside are set to work pushing the now rotten grass out of the cave; they’ve gotten tired of eating the rotten food.
  43. >You let them do their jobs while you look at the mares clean and warm up the stallions.
  44. >The work is slow and not too fun for the mares, but they manage to clean the stallions fluff in the end and lastly, they let the stallions go lay down by the dams to get warm.
  45. >The dams complain lightly at first, there’re only two now, and they don’t like having the wet and cold stallions snuggling up to them.
  46.
  47. >You can’t help it, the sight is actually fun to watch, the stallions are lying there, soaking wet while the dams actually try their best to roll away from them, sporting faces of discomfort from the cold stallions making them cold in turn.
  48. >You chuckle lightly at the sight before you shift your attention over to the mothers again.
  49. >They’ve started producing milk again from what you can hear; “Mummah haf miwk soo babhe, nu wowwy”
  50. >You ignore most of the mares and just focus on Aurora instead, she’s sitting in the corner hugging her two foals and the runt while Plum is busy drinking some water.
  51. >She’s gently rocking herself back and forth as she waits on her teats to fill up with milk for her foals again.
  52.
  53. >You turn up the microphones sensitivity and try to listen in on her, to your surprise, she’sa ctually singing to her foals.
  54. >”Mummah wuv babbhes, babbhes aw guu’. Babbhes nu huwties, babbhes fee guu’“ Wait what? Fluffy mothers sing to their foals? You never herd nor saw this at you old lab, maybe they only do it when they’re sure everything will be fine?
  55. >Can’t exactly say morale was up top amongst the fluffies in your old lab… You tried everything, but they never cheered up for more than 5 min.
  56. >While you sit there deep in thought, Plum comes back and picks the runt of Aurora and slowly begins feeding him her milk.
  57.
  58. >Aurora begins feeding her foals just after Plum, from what you can see and faintly hear, the foals aren’t saving anything.
  59. >They’re chugging the milk down like a man at Oktoberfest, leaving nothing for later, but thankfully, Aurora knows better and stops them before they empty all the milk.
  60. >”Nu mo miwk babbhes, mummah nee nappies, gif mu miwk soon” She tells them before lying down on her stomach to take a short nap.
  61. >The foals, tired themselves, snuggle themselves deep into Auroras fluff, seeking her body warmth.
  62. >Plum sees this and lies down right besides Aurora, sharing her body heat; she then gently hides the runt in her fluff to keep it warm while they sleep.
  63. >You just look at the scene with a faint smile, Plum really managed to help Aurora all right.
