1. Part 2
2.
3. "What the hell..."
4. >You drop the flashlight to the ground with a clatter as it lands on a box that was strewn across the floor while you were out
5. >Your eyes meet this... blue pony cowering in the corner of your room
6. >Finally past the jump scare part of coming into a semi-trashed room complete with foreign entity, you notice that she's absolutely terrified
7. >Calming down a bit from the jumpiness, but still wary, you don't sense any danger, plus you're aware of ponies and the fact that you've never known any to be particularly dangerous
8. "Are you okay?"
9. >The blue pony can't manage anything but a low whimper, still cowering, blond mane slightly frizzy and on end, as if from static electricity
10. >She doesn't seem to be in any state to answer the question, so you lower yourself to a kneel to reduce your intimidation factor
11. "Can you... understand me?"
12. >You ask, feeling strange trying to interact with a pony...
13. >She nods her head sheepishly, still quivering in abject fear
14. >Upon seeing this, you light up a bit
15. >You do a mental self-check, obviously cannabis doesn't cause hallucinations, let alone such vivid ones
16. >The mellow of the cannabis starts to return after being relieved of the jumpiness from earlier, and your voice becomes as gentle as you can make it
17.
18. (1/7)
19.
20. "It's okay, I won't hurt you. Do you have any idea what happened to my room?"
21. >You ask, trying not to sound accusatory. Clearly she was in no state to be going into random apartments and trashing up the place
22. >The realization hits you: The window wasn't open (when you left nor when you returned), your front door was locked, and no other rooms were trashed
23. >She shakes her head, still apprehensive of speaking
24. "You don't seem like the type to go around trashing people's rooms and then hanging out in the corner."
25. >You begin to realize that it's pointless to keep talking about it
26. "My name is Anon... do you have a name?"
27. >The pony stops shuddering for now, still backed into the corner
28. "M--most people call me IE."
29. >Her voice was very meek
30. >Your head tilts
31. "IE?"
32. >You glance at your powered-down computer, then back at her, finally noticing a familiar cutie mark: The Internet Explorer 9 icon
33. >You stare at her for a moment, letting the realization sink in
34. >You're staring at a bona fide physical browser pone
35. "Wow, you-- did you... Where did you-"
36. >You struggle to form a sentence as you attempt to grasp the situation
37. "Stay here, I'll get you some water."
38. >It was the first thing that came to your mind, at least it would be something you could offer to try to relax her and get some more information
39.
40. (2/7)
41.
42. >You fill a bowl with tap water from the kitchen and return to her, placing the bowl near her without getting too close, stepping away after you place it on the floor
43. >Her hooves finally all make contact with the floor, and she scoots over to the bowl, looking at it, then you
44. >She begins lapping at the water, her breathing calms after a few drinks
45. "Is that helping?"
46. >She looks back up and nods at you, staying silent
47. "Is there anything else I can get you?"
48. >She starts to relax a bit, understanding that you're clearly not a threat as a fellow sentient creature
49. "Um... I feel hunger... a- piece of fruit?"
50. >Her voice is hesitant, as if she hasn't had much experience speaking, but somehow she understands English enough to communicate
51. "Ah, yes"
52. >You head back to the kitchen and open the fridge
53. >Large bowl of fruit salad you recently bought, very lucky for this situation
54. >You pick up a few slices of apple and put them on a plate
55. >She perks up ever so slightly at seeing the fruit
56. >You place the plate on the bed and pick up a single slice, offering it to her in an open palm
57. >She looks at the apple slice in your hand, then up at you
58. >You offer her a calm nod, closing your eyes as you do
59. >She cautiously picks up the apple slice and chomps it down
60.
61. (3/7)
62.
63. >You offer another piece, and she begins to loosen up a bit, eating it more quickly than the last
64. "IE... How does that taste?"
65. >Her expression loosens up a bit more when you address her by name, and your eyes lock for a brief moment
66. "It's good... sweet. I didn't realize how hungry I actually was."
67. "How long have you been in here, IE?"
68. "I'm not sure... It felt like hours though."
69. "Hours..."
70. >You place the plate with the rest of the apple slices on the floor and move to your office chair to sit down and let her eat
71. >She's eagerly finishing off the rest of it
72. >Swivel around to face your computer and hit the power button
73. >Success! It powers back up
74. >Great relief at not having a brand new computer destroyed by a freak incident of whatever happened while you were gone
75. >This reminds you to try to get more information about the incident
76. "Was the room like this when you... arrived? Actually... how DID you arrive?"
77. "I... don't know. Nothing like this has ever happened before."
78. >Your desktop had loaded while you were asking her, and you go to try to launch IE again, but you notice that it's missing from the taskbar
79. >Once again befuddled, you search through the start menu and a few folders, coming up with nothing
80. >Swivel back around, noticing that the sound of her eating the apples had ended
81. >She had moved next to you while you were looking for the program
82. "So you're IE... can you... access the internet?"
83.
84. (4/7)
85.
86. >She nods, adding:
87. "I just need to know which of these wifi networks is yours... Two out of the seven I am detecting have very adequate signal strength where we are now."
88. >Apartment buildings... everyone has their own setup
89. "Mine is "AJIsBestPone, the key is kwpeq7"
90. >Her eyes gloss over for a moment, a thousand-yard stare washing over her face, a few quiet seconds pass, then she focuses back on you
91. "Connection successful. Would you like to pick up where you left off?"
92. "Left off? Uhh..."
93. >You forgot that you even did anything, considering the distraction of all that happened between now and then
94. "Sure, yeah. Open what I had earlier."
95. >Her eyes glow brightly and project a nice, high resolution screen presenting page 0 of /mlp/
96. "Oh right, I loaded that up to check my internet on the new computer. Umm... not really sure there's anything there that I want to read right now. Why don't you close that and tell me a bit more about yourself."
97. >You sit down on the edge of the bed and give her your attention
98. >She's standing on all fours, rising to about your stomach level as you sit on the bed, looking up at you
99. "Well... I'm Internet Explorer version 9, created by Microsoft, used by a significant percentage of people who own desktop computers..."
100. >She continues with facts in a similar vein, seemingly recounting actual uses as a program in a computer
101.
102. (5/7)
103.
104. "Another significant percentage though... They just use me as a stepping stone to get to other browsers, then forget about me. The ones who keep using me are generally users who know less about computers and couldn't even properly identidy me as a browser.."
105. >She sits down, eyes averting from yours, ears falling flat
106. >This causes a bit of a swell in your heart, she seems genuinely disappointed in the information she's relaying to you
107. "Aww IE, that's--well...um"
108. >You struggle for a way to console her... Wait, console? You feel sorry for her, even though you hardly know her
109. "IE, most people are stuck in old ways, remembering previous versions, unwilling to give you another shot, despite all of the recent improvements to speed, usability, standards compliance."
110. >
Your neckbeard starts to itch
111. "What I'm trying to say is... I know you have potential as a browser, and there are people out there that know you're a good browser. I'm one of them."
112. >She looks up into your eyes, still a little saddened from the earlier facts
113. >You carefully reach down to put your hand on her head, rubbing gently
114. >She sniffs, the light in the room reflecting off the welled-up tears in her eyes
115. "Do you want to sit up here on the bed with me, IE?"
116. >She nods, standing up to carefully hop up on the bed
117. >You place your hand on her head again, this time very gently rubbing her ear
118.
119. (6/7)
120.
121. >Her eyes close, clearly enjoying the attention
122. >You enjoy the softness of her light blue coat and the frizzy orange mane
123. "Hold on here for a moment, IE."
124. >Step into the bathroom momentarily, returning with a brush
125. >Sit back down next to her and begin gently combing her mane
126. >She starts to loosen up more, planting her head on your leg and quietly enjoying the brushing motions as you continue to stroke her ear with your other hand
127. >A few moments pass
128. "IE, I didn't even notice the time. It's been quite a day for both of us... What say we get some sleep and evaluate the situation, try to figure out what to do tomorrow when we're rested."
129. >She silently nods
130. "Um... I guess I don't have another bed. No roommates. I guess it's either the sofa in the living room or... uh... I suppose you could just sleep there if you want; there's enough room for us both."
131. "This bed is comfortable, I'll just curl up at the foot of the bed here, if that's okay"
132. >You nod, very content with the fact that you've been able to reach this level of trust with her in such a short amount of time
133. "Okay, let's try to get some sleep, we can continue in the morning when both of us are well-rested."
134. >She nods, making a spot on the bed similar to related pic before curling up and quickly dozing off
135.
