  1. Spitfire X Pilot Anon story i've been working on for the Satyr threads in /mlp/
  2.
  3. I will probably redo the intro at some point to reflect the later style I wrote in. Enjoy.
  4.
  5. >There's only the cold void
  6.     >no sound anywhere
  7.     >suddenly something bites into your shoulder
  8.     >you break the surface and gasp for breath. There's air.
  9.     >you take in lungs full of air before you slip back under the water
  10.     >whatever has you bites harder and pulls you towards shore
  11.     >the parachute around your body is heavy and dragging against the water
  12.     >your cold fingers fumble with the release and it slides off your shoulders
  13.     >whatever was biting you releases their grip and you slip under the waves again into the abyss.
  14.     >You look up and see something that does not look right
  15.     >A... pegasus... swimming down to you
  16.     >it bites your shoulder again and pulls you once more to the surface.
  17.     >The two of you break into the air once more and you start feebly stroking towards shore
  18.     >The orange pegasus has you firmly in her teeth and is not going to let go.
  19.     >finally you two reach the beach and you crawl forward out of the waves then fall face first into the sand.
  20.     >the pegasus collapses beside you and it takes you a few minutes in the storm to catch your breath.
  21.     >You turn over and see the most beautiful eyes you've ever seen.
  22.     >She's haggard and windblown but she's wearing a jacket like yours.
  23.     >her wings are soaking wet and her body is shaking from the cold.
  24.     >You sit up and zip off your jacket then wrap her in it and pick her up.
  25.     >She's light and too tired to move
  26.     >You start stumbling up the shore towards a lighthouse to get out of the Hurricane that's pummeling the beach.
  27.     >You finally make it to the lighthouse and kick open the door then start making a fire off to one side with the piled logs inside the door.
  28.     >Your lighter is still working and you quickly have some heat going.
  29.     >She's still shivering badly.
  30.     >You pull off your jacket and her jacket then strip down to your boxers.
  31.     >She starts to protest but you shake your head and she's too exhausted to give a fight
  32.     >You hold her close then drape both of your jackets around you and sit next to the fire
  33.     >Her legs are shaking and you start rubbing them.
  34.     >Then you start rubbing her belly and after awhile her wings.
  35.     >Everything's starting to warm up and she's getting pretty hot
  36.     >You move to slip away the jackets and move away but she nuzzles your next and slips her front legs around you.
  37.     >She falls asleep in your arms and you just keep stroking her body to make sure she's going to be alright.
  38.     >You start thinking back to how you got here.
  39.     >There was a furball of a fight over the channel
  40.     >Germans and Brits ripping each other apart
  41.     >You were part of the Hurricane wing, sent in to take out the bombers
  42.     >there were no bombers
  43.     >after downing a couple odds were too great and you were shot down
  44.     >Canopy jammed and you tried to shoot it open but it failed
  45.     >Your Hurricane crashed into the channel and your chute was ripped open
  46.     >You made it out of the sinking plane but your silk parachute was acting like an anchor and dragged you down
  47.     >flash of light then nothing
  48.     >now just sitting here with a hot pegasus in front of a make shift fire in the middle of no where.
  49.     >Could be worse, could be in occupied France.
  50.     >You lean back against the wall and drift off to sleep, the heat coming from her too much and your body relaxes.
  51.     >hours past until you wake up and she's still sleeping curled up around you.
  52.     >You reach out your hand and start stroking the tip of her ear
  53.     >Her eyes open and she looks up at you.
  54.     >She bolts back but is caught in your jacket and tumbles towards the fire
  55.     >you grab her just in time and pull her back to you
  56.     >She nips at you and tries to get free
  57.     "Calm down... it's ok..."
  58.     >You unwind your jacket from around her and she jumps out of it
  59.     >She tries to run out of the lighthouse and take flight but her wing is too sore
  60.     >she jumps in the air and lands on her face
  61.     >wearing nothing but your boxers you run outside
  62.     >storm is still raging but not nearly as bad as it was before
  63.     >you pick her up amidst protests and take her back into the lighthouse
  64.     >she tries to bite you again
  65.     >You give up and settle back against the wall after shutting the door
  66.     >wind howling outside and she grabs her jacket then throws it on and sits down watching you with wearing eyes.
  67.     >no words pass between you for awhile
  68.     >she finally breaks the silence after she starts figuring out what happened
  69.     "Spitfire..."
  70.     >that's all she says and you shake your head
  71.     "Hurricane."
  72.     >She blinks a couple times then motions towards you with the tip of her wing.
  73.     "Hurricane?"
  74.     >You move your jacket around so she can see the patch
  75.     >Hurricane Pilot
  76.     >She looks at you quizzically for a bit before shaking her head again.
  77.     >You shrug and lay down feeling tired
  78.     >She stays over on her side of the fire and puts another bit of wood on
  79.     >You start to drift off and have a dream about crashing into the channel
  80.     >you wake up when something hits the side of your cheek
  81.     >she is right against your face
  82.     >her lips kissed your cheek
  83.     >her eyes are as wide as tea saucers
  84.     >she shrieks and bats you with a hoof
  85.     >You turn and scramble to sit up under the pummeling.
  86.     "What the hell?!?" you shout.
  87.     >She jumps back and shakes her mane again
  88.     "Sorry but you weren't suppose to wake up! I was just saying thanks... for... um... saving me..." She stammers.
  89.     >You groan and rub where she hit you square in the head with her hoof
  90.     >she notices the lump starting to form
  91.     "I'm so sorry Hurricane, I did not mean to do that you just surprised me."
  92.     >you look up puzzled.
  93.     "Hurricane?" you ask.
  94.     "Yeah... your name..."
  95.     >It takes you a moment to register then you laugh.
  96.     "Hurricane is what I was flying. You asked if I flew a Spitfire at first."
  97.     >It's her turn to look puzzled.
  98.     "How can you fly me?"
  99.     >Your brain breaks for a moment
  100.     "I... what?"
  101.     >She groans this time then stamps her hoof on the stone floor.
  102.     "I'm Spitfire. How could you have possibly flown me you are too big."
  103.     >You must have been hit harder in the head than you thought.
  104.     >you let it go right now leaving that part of the conversation for later.
  105. "Thanks... for..." You say quietly
  106. >The tip of her ear that you scratched earlier perks up and she twitches it
  107. "Did you say something?" She asks just as quiet.
  108. >You sigh then rest your hands in your lap
  109. "Thank you for saving me."
  110. >She offers a slight smile then shrugs
  111. "It's not like I wanted to save you but you saved me also. We're even. What were you doing out there Hurricane?" She asks
  112. >you laugh again and shake your head.
  113. "My name is not Hurricane. I'm anon. Hurricane is what I was flying. You know the big plane with the wings."
  114. >She looks completely confused now
  115. >she looks to her own wings then back to you
  116. "It's a machine that flies. You saw it go down into the water right? I mean you rescued me from it."
  117. >she shakes her head and bites her lip for just a moment making her look sexy.
  118. "There was a lightning strike then you were flailing around in the water."
  119. >She says then flexes her wings with a wince.
  120. "Are you..." you start but she nods.
  121. >You don't say anymore more but go over to her and run your finger along her wing
  122. >She starts protesting but you quiet her
  123. "I healed several birds. If it's broken I can mend it. If not then I can massage it and make it feel better."
  124. >You say and she thinks about it for a moment
  125. >Your finger hits the spot that hurts and she gasps quickly
  126. >Soothing her you start lightly stroking around the hurt area feeling for damage.
  127. >Her wing is just strained, she'll be ok.
  128. >You start to massage her wing and she exhales then lays down
  129. >after a few minutes you look to her face and her cheeks are red
  130. >She notices you looking then jumps up knocking you over
  131. "Idiot! Stop that! We should get going. The storm's fading." She grumbles and starts trotting off.
  132. >you gather your gear and slip on your clothes again
  133. >you douse the fire then step out into a cloudy sky with no rain.
  134. >Together you and Spitfire head off towards a castle far in the distance
  135. >you keep watching her and whenever she looks back she blushes then gets mad that you noticed.
  136.    >The two of you head up a steep and narrow path that ascends into the cliffs
  137. >The castle is still a ways off.
  138. >She hit you last time you looked at her so you've stopped and keep your eyes on the sky
  139. >She does have a nice rump with a fire mark on it
  140. >She holds her wings tenderly against her body
  141. >You can't help but miss the heat from when you two were sleeping near the fire
  142. >She seemed to radiate warmth and it took away the chill from the sea
  143. >She stops and you are too distracted that you trip over her
  144. >both of you fall to the path and she pushes herself up gritting her teeth.
  145. >you land on your back trying not to fall on her
  146. >She stomps her hoof next to your face.
  147. >You scramble up and start apologizing.
  148. "Save it."
  149. >She trots away angry now that you ran into her
  150. >Nothing to be done about that you continue on hoping not to anger her more.
  151. >She does not speak to you for the rest of the journey
  152. >a couple hours since the lighthouse and you reach the gates of the castle and the city.
  153. >your feet are tired and you just want to rest.
  154. >there are more ponies like her. Some of them with wings and others without.
  155. >There are even unicorns and none of them stare at you.
  156. >You figure they must have seen a human before.
  157. >The guard ponies let Spitfire in the gate but block your way.
  158. >She turns around and tosses her mane back.
  159. "He's with me."
  160. >The guards look to her and one of them smirks
  161. "Stop it! He's not with me with me, He's just with me... oh shut up."
  162. >She storms off and you quicken your steps to keep up
  163. >She heads towards the higher districts of the city still not talking to you
  164. >She does stop and look to make sure you are following every once in awhile.
  165. >You head up to the cloud district
  166. >There's a massive sign on one of the buildings.
  167. >Wonderbolt's Hangar
  168. >You notice that she has a pin on her jacket in the shame shape as the lightning bolt on the sign.
  169. >You follow her in thinking this must be her headquarters.
  170.     >As soon as you enter the hangar she stops and turns on you quickly.
  171.     "There's a bunk next to mine that you can use. Don't get any funny ideas. We just need to sort you out first. There's also a shower."
  172.     >She storms off and disappears into an office that has her name on the window.
  173.     >No one else is around right now
  174.     >you've checked the hangar and all the bunks are empty.
  175.     >Its the late evening and you slip out of your boots and jacket looking to take that shower.
  176.     >There's no real laundry facility so you just wash your clothes in the shower then hang them up to dry.
  177.     >Next you wash yourself and while you are scrubbing your hair you hear something drop to the ground.
  178.     >You look up and see Spitfire with a gaping mouth before soap runs into your eyes.
  179.     >She's staring at you naked and you quickly wash the soap away.
  180.     >She's never seen anything like what you've got before and she runs away bashful.
  181.     >You clear your eyes and notice there's a fresh pile of clothing just outside the tiles of the shower.
  182.     >You dry off and try them on
  183.     >they are a bit big for you but it works
  184.     >You use your belt to fasten the pants then head out of the shower without shoes on
  185.     >She mentioned a bunk so you head off towards it.
  186.     >You find her section of the Hangar
  187.     >It's decorated simply with just a couple photos of her family and the Wonderbolts
  188.     >There's a handsome looking pegasus next to her
  189.     >You start getting slightly jealous of him
  190.     >grunting you shake the thought away. Why would you be jealous of a pegasus?
  191.     >the name under him is Soarin.
  192.     >Shrugging you slip into the unused bunk.
  193.     >Its too small and your legs stick out over it.
  194.     >You try to get to sleep but it takes a long time in coming
  195.     >when you finally drift off it is a dreamless sleep.
  196.     >Night falls and you wake up very warm
  197.     >something is on top of you.
  198.     >Spitfire is splayed out and snoring lightly.
  199.     >Her breath is hot against your chin.
  200.     >You look around and see that you are actually in her bunk.
  201.     >There was confusion because both bunks looked the same
  202.     >She had to of known you were sleeping in it
  203.     >Knowing she'll probably hit you again on waking you slip your arms around her and hug her to your chest then close your eyes and listen to her heart beat.
  204.     >She's too hot and you kick off the blanket letting some air get in around you.
  205.     >A few minutes pass before you start to get a pinch in your arm
  206.     >Moving slightly you relax the arm and bump her tender wing
  207.     >Her eyes snap open and she stares at you.
  208.     >Unmoving she looks no where else except at your face.
  209.     >You start to grin thinking she's alright with this.
  210.     >Suddenly she headbutts you and your arms let go then she jumps off and crashes into the wall.
  211.     >She lets out a yelp of pain as her wing hits
  212.     >You rush off the bed to help her
  213.     >She pushes you away and you get a hoof in the stomach for your effort.
  214.     >You are on the ground with the wind knocked out of you.
  215.     >She hops up on the unused bunk and is about to berate you until she realizes that she crawled into the same bunk as you.
  216.     >She shifts her eyes then fluses and grumbles.
  217.     >You sit up and start rubbing your chest.
  218.     "Are you ok?" She asks in a whisper.
  219.     >You just nod and let your arms fall to your side
  220.     "Did I hurt you?" She asks slightly louder.
  221.     >You nod again and lean your head back against the cool wall.
  222.     "Well good! You deserved it trying to take advantage of me like that. What were you even doing in my bed?"
  223.     >You shrug and groan slightly, your chest still thumping.
  224.     "I went for the one that looked unused." You say.
  225.     >She rolls her eyes then stands up from the bunk and makes her way to you.
  226.     >She puts her muzzle down near your chest and pushes her ear against it to hear your breathing.
  227.     >Your chest starts thumping harder.
  228.     >It’s not from the pain, it's your heart racing.
  229.     >She hears it and steps back.
  230.     "Does it always sound so fast?" She asks looking up at your eyes.
  231.     >You shake your head and take a couple deep breaths trying to calm yourself.
  232.     >There's no calming your heart right now. It still races and having her so close does not help.
  233.     >There is still a good amount of heat coming from your body.
  234.     >Even though you boiling up you realize there's no sweat.
  235.     >Raising your hand to your forehead you feel sick.
  236.     >As you collapse on the cement floor she tries to push you back up and starts talking to you but it is all a blur.
  237.     >Not understanding what she is saying you lay down on the ground and try not to shake.
  238.     >A swift hoof hits you again and makes you sit up then she helps you back to the bunk.
  239.     >After you've laid down she gets a glass of water and sets it on the nightstand for when you want a drink.
  240.     >Trying to thank her you can't really speak at the moment and your eyes start to close
  241.     >The last thing you feel before you black out is her laying down next to you again and her heat is fighting off the chills you suddenly have.
  242.     >When morning breaks you wake up weak and drenched in sweat.
  243.     >The mare did not leave your side for the night and she's also moist.
  244.     >Running fingers through her mane you lean up slightly and kiss the corner of her mouth.
  245.     >Without her body heat you'd have had a harder time fighting off the sickness.
  246.     >Reaching out for the water you quickly drink it then lay back down and exhale.
  247.     >She's sound asleep and not going anywhere for awhile.
  248.     >This time there's no protest as you cuddle with her in the too small bunk and watch the sun come through the windows.
  249.     >Part of the light strikes her mane and it shimmers like its on fire.
  250.     >The heart that gave you so much trouble last night is steady now but its also hurting in a way that can't be quelled with medication.
  251.     >Everything about this mare just feels right to you.
  252.     >There's no need to deny your feelings to yourself.
  253.     >She cares of course but how much? You could ask her when she wakes up but the two of you just met the day before.
  254.     >In the shower she already saw you nude so that may work against your favor.
  255. >Not even a day in... wherever this is and you are already thinking about being in love with her.
  256. >There's no real guilt about it, she's sentient and so are you. Surely there's something wrong though somewhere about a relationship like this.
  257. >There's the possibility she may just be friendly and has a thing with Soarin which at this point would crush you.
  258. >As you try to push the thoughts away from your mind she lets out a soft whimper.
  259. >A name passes her lips... it's his name...
  260. "...soarin."
  261. >That's all that was needed to sink the ship your heart was sailing in.
  262. >With a heavy sigh you let your arm slip away from her and then you hear something else as she barely says a few more words.
  263. "...you have to meet him... anon's so... great..."
  264. >Its only the talk of dreams and she's thinking about you and talking to Soarin in her dream about you.
  265. >The ship breaks the surface and now has a stronger hull
  266. >You slip your arm back around her and bury our face in her mane.
  267. >Breathing in the scent of a clean fire from her hair it filters into every part of your body.
  268. >There's something you know deep down that you can't admit to anyone right now.
  269. >There's a reason that she found you and that you found her.
  270. >Not one to ever believe in fate or destiny you are slowly becoming a believer.
  271. >You don't want to be away from her right now, there's just too much comfort to sooth an aching heart.
  272. >Her body is hot against your skin
  273. >It does not matter if you get burned to a crisp, you still want to hold onto Spitfire.
  274. >She's your savior. Pulled you from a certain death at the bottom of the sea.
  275. >You are hers having saved her from hypothermia on the beach.
  276. >no matter what happens you'll try to be around for her from now on.
  277. >The morning started out better then you could have imagined. She awoke and was concerned about your health.
  278. >Only feeling a bit weak you reassure her that you are ok now and she leaves the room to go get ready for the day.
  279. >The sun is approaching noon and you get out of the bunk. Your legs are aching because its just too small for your entire frame.
  280. >She pops her head in to check on you once more and you wave her off. There's no reason to fuss right now you tell her.
  281. >Gathering the set of clothes a shower feels like the best option right now.
  282. >Both of you were sweating through the night and you'll have to change the bed sheets later on.
  283. >Walking barefoot wearing only pants you make your way to the showers and set the pile of ragged clothing down on a bench near a locker.
  284. >Stepping out of your pants you start showering and hear a hoof on the tiles after a few minutes.
  285. "Damn it Spitfire I'm ok."
  286. >You say but are glad that she's checking up on you again.
  287. >Somepony else chuckles a deeper laugh.
  288. >Turning quickly you almost slip on the slick tiles and see the pony from the picture.
  289. >Soarin is standing there looking you up and down then he cants his head to the side and shakes it. His blue mane moving back and forth.
  290. "She said there was a new guy. I did not think she meant a Human."
  291. >Turning back to face the shower head you shrug and don't say anything for the moment while you continue to clean yourself.
  292. >He stamps his hoof in a light manner and chuckles again.
  293. "Welcome to the Wonderbolts. Spitfire had to run off to tell Princess Celestia about your arrival. She'll be back in an hour or so. Until then I guess you are my responsibility. Do you like pie?"
  294. >He asks and you turn around again with a raised brow.
  295. "No... I love pie."
  296. >Having responded to him his grin widens and he inclines his head and snorts.
  297. "Pie's like the best thing ever. There's a cute pony who makes the best pies. Applejack's her name."
  298.     >Returning the smile you finish rinsing and shut the water off then start to get dressed while Soarin and you talk.
  299.     "She's also a friend of Rainbow Dash who's this cute pony that is a pretty good flyer."
  300.     >Soarin's eyes get misty slight when he talks about Rainbow Dash. You raise another brow and he shakes his head and sighs.
  301.     "She's with someone else now. I missed my chance on that one you know. Anyways... Pie... "
  302.     >Slipping the jacket over your shoulders you sit down and pull on the worn and scuffed boots. Somehow they make you feel a bit better, more secure.
  303.     "Pie's the greatest thing ever."
  304.     >Saying the line to redirect his thoughts back to what he was talking about before makes you smile again. He nods and snorts once more.
  305.     "We need free pie Tuesdays or something around here. Well come on then I'll show you around the place. So far it's just you and me. The rest of the Wonderbolts are on maneuvers."
  306.     >Standing from the bench you follow him outside and take a look at the grounds. There's a long landing strip that could accommodate a plane. Why the pegasi would need the landing strip at all is a mystery.
  307.     >The hanger itself looks to be American built with the flattened roof and a huge floor plan.
  308.     >There's several areas that have been converted into quarters and then there's a part that's open and big enough to accommodate a Lancaster bomber.
  309.     >The wheels in your mind start turning as you try to think of the logistics of building a plane and flying it from the Wonderbolts HQ.
  310.     >Soarin snaps you out of the train of thought by showing you the names of the Wonderbolts next to the door of the hangar.
  311.     >Spitfire is the group captain.
  312.     >She's the leader of this wing and next to her name is that same fire brand that is on her beautiful rump.
  313.     >Soarin has one also but it is different.
  314.     >You ask about them and he explains that they are called Cutie marks and link to the ponies talents.
  315.     >Not really understanding any of what he just said you nod and shrug your shoulders.
  316.     >As the two of you are standing in the largest open part of the hangar it suddenly hits you.
  317.     >There's absolutely no weaponry anywhere. No guns, knives, bombs or anything that could be used to kill someone.
  318.     >Soarin notices your right hand pat at the side of your hip trying to feel for the Webley revolver that is long gone and at the bottom of the channel.
  319.     "Why don't you have any weapons?"
  320.     >Asking it of him takes him by complete surprise and he just stares at you for several seconds before responding.
  321.     "Why... why would we need any?"
  322.     >Your back straightens and you stand at attention.
  323.     "To defend yourselves and your loved ones. Every army has weapons. The only ones I've seen here were ornate spears on the guards to the city."
  324.     >He rolls his eyes and takes a breath then responds.
  325.     "The guards have them but we don't. We aren't out to kill any pony. We just fly and fly fast. There's a lot you can do in the sky without a weapon."
  326.     >The words don't quite register at first as your mind starts trying to think of strapping a browning machine gun to the body of a pegasus.
  327.     >Surely they have something, there's no point in a flying force without weapons.
  328.     >Even the acrobatic corp was still armed before the war.
  329.     >There's too many questions that Soarin may not be able to answer at the moment.
  330.     >A yellow haired pegasus with white wings lands outside the hangar. They are wearing a blue and yellow jumpsuit and they trot towards the two of you.
  331.     "The Princess wants to see him."
  332.     >The yellow maned Pegasus motions to you.
  333.     "Oh you are in trouble now."
  334.     >Soarin jokes then butts you lightly with his head pushing you out of the hangar.
  335.     "Spitfire's waiting with her. I'll show him the way."
  336.     >The yellow mane pegasus turns and starts trotting away. Soarin shrugs and gives you another grin before finding something to busy himself with.
  337.     >There's really no choice but to follow the other one and you hurry to catch up then match her steps and the two of you approach the main gate of the castle.
  338.     >The guards don't even try to stop you this time and let you enter without any fuss. The walk past the gate and into the castle itself is uneventful.
  339.     >There's a purple pony with a dragon walking down a corridor as you past.
  340.     >A small purple dragon... walking... and talking...
  341.     >By this point nothing should surprise you but that does. Less than a full day in this land and you've already befriended flying ponies and now there's a dragon.
  342.     >Taking a deep breath the guards announce your name and you enter the main audience chamber.
  343.     >Standing at the foot of a throne is a white pegasus with a horn that stands a head above any other pony. Her hair is the color of an aurora and flows even with no breeze.
  344.     >Standing next to her is Spitfire with her cheeks looking slightly red.
  345.     >At the behest of the guards you approach the throne and the yellow mane pegasus leaves the chamber.
  346.     >The white pegasus unicorn... whatever gives you a soft smile.
  347.     "Welcome to Equestria. Spitfire's told me all about your exploits so far."
  348.     >Her voice is regal yet soft like that smile
  349.     >Familiar with royalty you bow at the waist and click your heels together.
  350.     >She laughs softly.
  351.     "You need not do that here. Come walk with me, you must be famished. Spitfire you come as well."
  352.     >She turns and walks past the throne.
  353.     >Spitfire gives you a shrug then the two of you follow suit.
  354.     >There's a large grumble in your stomach as you realize you've not eaten since you climbed in that Hurricane and flew into the fray.
  355.     >The scents of a feast drift in through an open door
  356.     >The three of you enter the smaller chamber and there's a variety of food laid out on platters. Not too much to make it overbearing but more than you could ever eat.
  357.     >There's not one bit of meat in the bunch but then again you figure that ponies are vegetarians... or should be.
  358.     >There's a pie and some leek pasties.
  359.     >Sitting down after the Princess gestures you to a chair built for a Human you help yourself but maintain your table manners.
  360. >Biting into the pastie a white gravy runs down your chin and quickly you grab a linen napkin and sheepishly clean your face up.
  361. >Spitfire giggles as she sits next to you in another chair made for a pony and helps herself to some of the food.
  362. >Celestia has a nibble and there's some wine poured for the three of you.
  363. >She calmly waits until after you've finished both pasties and half the pie before speaking again.
  364. "Every once in awhile a Human comes here. I like to meet them all and gauge their temper and character. From what the Captain of the Wonderbolts has told me you are a kind hearted man. You are welcome to stay as long as you wish here. I am sure you have a thousand questions but they can be answered later."
  365. >Nodding you set the pie down and take a sip of wine to clear your throat.
  366. "I'm putting Spitfire in charge of your care while you are here. Treat her well as you have thus far."
  367. >There's a moment where you could have sworn the Princess winked at you. The audience goes on for a bit more as you ask the general questions.
  368. >What is Equestria? Talking ponies? Magic? Flying? All of them are answered patiently.
  369. >After you've exhausted the well of questions she brings the audience to an end and as the three of you are walking out of the doors the Princess leans over and whispers in your ear.
  370. "Take good care of her. She's had a rough time but you are a good match."
  371. >There's not enough time to ask another question as you are ushered out of the main chamber and then it's just you and Spitfire in the courtyard of the castle.
  372. >She looks to the side and scratches her hoof in the grass
  373. >You scratch the back of your neck for a moment.
  374. "So..."
  375. "So..."
  376. >Both of you speak at the same time and stop waiting for the other to start again.
  377. "Where..."
  378. "Where..."
  379. >Shaking your head with a smile you put a hand over your lips and motion for her to continue on.
  380. "Where would you like to go? Equestria's a big place and we could go anywhere. I'm... um... sure..."
  381.     >Moving your hand away from your lips you gently press the tips of your fingers against hers and she flutters her wings. Her face grows red in a blush.
  382.     "I just want to go back and relax. It's been a hard day for both of us."
  383.     >Stepping back away from your fingers she nods in agreement and the two of you walk back towards the hangar barely speaking. This time though you are following at her side instead of behind her.
  384.     >Half way there she pipes up and starts speaking.
  385.     "The Princess likes you. I guess you are staying with me from now on."
  386.     >Stopping in your tracks you put your arms behind your head and look up at the clouds in the sky. The sun is about an hour from setting and the first rays of sunset are starting to show.
  387.     "That's ok right?"
  388.     >Asking her permission makes her go red again and she stammers for an answer but does not land on one so she just inclines her head then stomps off towards the hangar.
  389.     >There's a moment more spent watching the sky before you turn and follow several steps behind her. She does not look back and there's nothing else said by the time the two of you arrive.
  390.     >Soarin's busy talking to a reporter and he nods in your direction.
  391.     >Spitfire heads in towards her office.
  392.     >Following you pass the door again with her name on it, the night before you did not notice it.
  393.     >Sitting down behind her desk she pushes a stack of papers with her hoof and fidgets trying to say something but minutes pass while she keeps stalling.
  394.     >Still standing in the doorway the smile on your lips grows with each passing moment until she finally looks up then blurts out.
  395.     "I like you ok. I don't know why but my heart feels... that's... I just had a breakup a couple weeks ago. I don't want to get involved right now especially with a Human. It's not like I saved your life because I want to kiss you... No I did not mean that! It's..."
  396.     >Crossing the distance between the two of you quickly you sit on the edge of her desk and lean in.
  397. >Her eyes become panicked and she pushes back the chair from the desk. Stopping yourself you stand and nod with a soft sigh.
  398. >She throws out her leg and stops you with a hoof on your hand that's still on the surface of the desk
  399. "Wait... I..."
  400. >Turning your head to look at her results in a full on kiss. She pushes you back down to the desk and kisses you deep and hard. There's a passion there that needs to be satisfied but she pulls away again and looks down as if she's ashamed.
  401. "It's ok. I like you also. We can take this... whatever this is between us... we can take it slow."
  402. >Her head lifts and she looks up with wet eyes as tears threaten to fall from the corners of them.
  403. "You won't be mad if we don't... go further than this right now?"
  404. >Her voice is a quiet whimper hoping that you won't be angry with her. Reaching out your right hand you run it through her mane and close your eyes then nod.
  405. "All I want is to be here for you right now. If this goes anywhere it'll come in time."
  406. >Her tears start falling and she scrubs at her face with her leg.
  407. >Your fingers wipe away her tears and she embraces you not wanting to let go.
  408. >The two of you stay that way for a long time.
  409. >The heat of you both lasts well into the night as you just keep hold of each other. That's all your heart needs right now. Just to be here with her.
  410.
  411. >A few days have passed since the two of you held each other on that desk through most of the night.
  412. >Every evening sees you both in the two bunks you ended up pushing together long ways to make more room for your legs.
  413. >She sleeps next to you curled up and some times the tips of her wings brush against your nose.
  414. >That's been enough for now, just having her close and wanting to be around you.
  415. >Two days ago you asked if you could have some space in the Hangar and Soarin cleared out an unused part. Now you've been sketching ideas and trying to remember what the inside of an aircraft looks like without the skin.
  416. >There's a crude draft table with a light that you've been hunched over on a chair made for a pony. A grease pencil against the large paper sheets marks out some kind of skeletal structure.
  417. >The pencil has smeared all over your fingers and there's a smudge on your cheek that you've failed to notice.
  418. >More or less over the past day you've gotten the basic outline of a Supermarine Spitfire from what you can remember. There's no reference material here but you weren't too bad at sketching before the war broke out.
  419. >Completely lost in the process you don't notice her standing behind you and looking over your shoulder for twenty minutes
  420. >Erasing one line of frame you put it slightly lower and nod then set down the grease pencil and take a sip of water from a glass near by.
  421. >Reflected in the glass you finally see the yellow of her coat and turn around. She offers a soft smile then inclines her head towards the large sheet of paper.
  422. "Soarin said you were working on something. What is that?"
  423. >Her hoofs ring out on the cement hangar floor as she steps closer and you move aside to give her more room to see.
  424. >Your grease pencil stained fingers move over the lines tracing the outline
  425. "This is... well.. a... Spitfire. This is what I thought you were asking if I flew back when we were at the lighthouse."
  426. >Her head leans in and she almost touches the paper then she quickly steps back and scoffs.
  427. "That can't fly. It's just a bunch of sticks. There's no moving wings."
  428. >Cleaning your fingers on a rag you laugh and pick up a clean linen napkin that you had taken from the meeting with Princess Celestia a few days previous.
  429. >She looks at the napkin not understanding and you spread out your hand then pull the napkin tight over your open hand.
  430. "That's the frame under the skin. I was thinking about using some linen like this on it. Then it will fly. I still need an engine though."
  431. >Her eyes roll and she laughs softly at the absurdity of what you are proposing. She flutters her wings to make another point that there's no moving wings on the design.
  432. "It does not need wings to move. It moves by a propeller which is a giant fan blade that moves fast."
  433. >Her shoulders shrug and she reaches out a hoof and grabs another rag then wipes the grease from your face.
  434. >You aren't entirely sure how she's actually holding on to that rag but you let her clean with no complaint.
  435. >Picking up the grease pencil again you sketch out what a three bladed propeller looks like and go a basic cone like the Spitfire fighter had.
  436. >She looks it over for awhile then smudges it out and picks up a pencil with her teeth then moves the blades to a T position before adding a forth.
  437. "That's going to work much better. Three's too prone to snapping because there's too much force on it."
  438. >Blinking you drop the pencil into the tray at the base of the drafting table
  439. "We have giant bladed windmills like this all over Equestria. We tried three blades and they broke with higher winds. Do you think it will fly?"
  440. >This time it's your turn to shrug your shoulders then standing from the stool you stretch your back. It's been hours since you last stood and it is sore.
  441. "I can try to build it and see."
  442. >That answer is enough for her and she backs away to get a better full look at the sheet.
  443. >Walking away from the drafting table you stop in the area you intend to construct the Spitfire replica. The basic dimensions are marked out with tape on the floor.
  444. >This is not going to be an easy build and make take a couple years before it is complete.
  445. >When it is done though you'll have the only Human built flying machine in Equestria.
  446. "What are you going to call it?"
  447. >She asks from behind you still looking at the sheet of paper.
  448. "...Spitfire..."
  449. >That response brings a slight aww from her and you turn around seeing her blush.
  450. "That's what is and well... It's one sexy creature. So I have to name it after you because when I'm inside of it I'll be up there hoping that it flies half as well as you do."
  451. >Her face becomes even more red and her wings suddenly spring out to full length. That takes you by surprise.
  452. >Embarrassed she quickly retracts her wings and tries to find something to busy herself with.
  453. >Laughing you kneel down and touch a line of the tape seeing in your mind what the finished Spitfire will look like. Almost an original but not quite.
  454. >You flew Hurricanes which were close in design but where the Hurricane was a fighter the Spitfire was pure sex in the sky.
  455. >Hopefully you do it and her justice.
  456. "How are the candidates?"
  457. >You ask while standing and stretching again. A couple days ago you learned that she's been evaluating candidates for the Wonderbolts and that's what has been occupying her time.
  458. "There's some promising ones but none as good as Rainbow Dash. She did turn us down. I want her to come back though."
  459. >Turning on your heel you step over to her then scratch behind her ear and she moves her head up into your hand.
  460. "Why don't you ask her?"
  461. >She scoffs at your suggestion then stops and lets a soft hmm cross her lips as if it has never occurred to her before to just ask.
  462. >Picking up the linen napkin again you splay it out on the floor and take a long hard look at it.
  463. >There's no words said but the cock of her head asks the unspoken question.
  464. "This has to be expensive. It's fine quality and to get enough to cover an entire plane is going to cost a lot."
  465. >Her hoof stamps against the cement and she laughs.
  466. "If we mark it as a Wonderbolt project you can get good deals on the fabric. Are Spitfires where you come from covered in it?"
  467. >Shaking your head you stand from the floor leaving the napkin there then you nudge it with the toe of your boot.
  468. "They are covered in steel sheets but you don't have rivets or riveters. The Hurricane was cloaked in Irish linen so I figure I can do that. Make a metal and wood frame then skin it in fabric."
  469. >There's no question it is possible but is it going to hold together at high speeds? That's an answer you won't have until you are in the sky.
  470. >With a crack of your jaw and a stifling of a yawn you step away from the hangar area and head towards your quarters.
  471. >Already the sun is below the horizon and Soarin and the others are in for the night.
  472. >Spitfire lingers a couple moments longer looking at the draft then follows you.
  473. >Sitting down on the edge of the bed you kick off your boots and lay back
  474. >the two mattresses feel good and you almost fall asleep but her hopping onto the bed jars you out of the tiredness.
  475. >She leans in and kisses your chin then goes lower and kisses the base of your throat.
  476. >Her lips tickle the edge of your collar bone and you push up with a smile.
  477. >Slipping your hands through her mane and behind both ears you pull her face to yours for a long deep kiss.
  478. >The two of you are locked together for minutes until she collapses on top of you not breaking the kiss.
  479. >Her eyes close and finally she pulls away to lay her head on our chest, listening to your heart beat.
  480. "What did the Princess tell you?"
  481. >She asks looking into your eyes and expecting an answer.
  482. "When?"
  483. >Her head thumps against our chest and you can't help but grunt.
  484. "When she whispered in your ear. She said something I couldn't make out. then she winked at me."
  485. >Chuckling you stroke her mane and shrug slightly.
  486. "What did you tell her that had you all blushing when I came in?"
  487. >She purses her lips and blows in your face then looks to the side
  488. "At first I thought you were trying to... I don't know hurt me I guess. Not everyone would have helped me like you did on the beach and inside the lighthouse."
  489. >This time you blow lightly moving her banes and she shakes her head to move them from her eyes.
  490. "I don't know anyone that would have dived into a Hurricane to save me."
  491. >Reaching up with your free hand you push down your shirt revealing her pink teeth marks still in your shoulder. Her bite was incredibly hard when she pulled you from the ocean and it left bruises through your flight jacket.
  492. >She looks at the marks then leans her head over and licks at them. The feeling of her tongue on your skin is delightful.
  493. >Pulling back from the marks she licks the tip of your nose before settling back down against your chest.
  494. "I don't know how I knew but from the first moment after that lightning flash. Well I knew you were different. I had to save you. Normally I would have tried to find a rope or something but there was a drive deep inside me that screamed at me to bring you out of the water alive."
  495. >There's a moment that passes where neither of you move and just keep your eyes locked.
  496. "I felt that pull also. I never saw a pegasus before you but that moment I was under water and looked up something shifted inside of me."
  497. >Pushing herself up off you she moves her hooves to stand over your chest then looks down directly into your eyes. Hers are soft and comforting but at the edge of tearing up again.
  498. "She told me to take care of you. That we are a good match. I did not know what she meant then but I do now. I love you Spitfire."
  499. >Hot teardrops fall from her eyes to your cheeks.
  500. "I love you."
  501. >There's no other words that need be said at the moment. She kisses you so hard while shedding tears of joy that it takes your breath away.
  502. >Grabbing one end of the sheet you pull it up and wrap it around the two of you then roll on top of her and push yourself up just enough to not smother her.
  503. >The kissing goes on for some time as both of you take comfort in the other.
  504. >Whatever reservations you had about this relationship have long since faded.
  505. >You know a pure heart when you see one and of course it would be her. It's always been her the two of you just never met before that moment a week ago.
  506. "Tonight... can we... go further?"
  507. >She asks after breaking away from the kissing. On her lips is a soft smile.
  508. "I won't do anything you are uncomfortable with."
  509. >Trying to be the gentleman you give her the option of stopping when she's had enough for the night.
  510. "I want you inside me."
  511. >Gentlemanship be damned. Your heart's desire just opened every door with her words. Your belt can't come undone quick enough and your pants slip away.
  512. >Her wings unfold and the tips brush against your cheeks wiping away the moisture left from her tears.
  513. >There's no turning back from this point on and you wouldn't have it any other way. Your former life is not even a factor anymore. There's only Spitfire and this moment the two of you have together between the sheets.
  514.
  515. The morning came and found the both of you wrapped in the sheets sleeping soundly as the sunlight filtered through the windows. She was splayed on her back with her legs intertwined with yours. There had been a moment where she nipped you last night and it hurt but it was a bit of pain that had been worth it. Leaning in close you whisper into her ear that you love her and she starts to stir. Wings stretch under the sheets as best as they can and she licks the side of your neck then curls up against you even more before her eyes open. There's a smile on her face that only comes from the satisfied contentment of waking up in your lover's arms.
  516.
  517. There's a sudden knock at the door and she jumps spilling the both of your to the ground. She tries to push free and you unwind the sheet helping her get up. With a quick look in the mirror on the far wall she tries to smooth out her mane with little success then just decides to talk through the door. Grabbing the sheet in one hand you start wrapping it around yourself in case whomever is at the door decides to come in.
  518.
  519. "Training is in an hour." Soarin's voice is muffled on the other side of the door.
  520.
  521. Before either of you can respond his hoof steps are already echoing down the hall. Slowly standing from the floor you stretch your arms and touch the bite marks she left you. The sheet falls to the floor and she turns around in time to see you standing at full attention.
  522.
  523. "We've got half an hour before I have to get ready." She says looking down at your stiffness.
  524.
  525. There's a chuckle then escapes from your lips and you walk over to her picking her up in your arms and moving back to the bed. The next half hour passes entirely too quickly and its another ten minutes on top before she leaves you alone in the room full of the scent of your love making.
  526.
  527. After a shower there's a change of clothes into more of the same military style pants and shirts Spitfire ordered from someone and had delivered a couple days ago. The cut is a bit different from what you used to wear and the colors are a darker blue like the old RAF uniform with yellow trim. Almost like cavalry pants from the old western stories. It's no coincidence she chose the colors to mimic the Wonderbolt's own uniforms. Pulling the jacket tight you look at yourself in the mirror and incline your head. It does look rather dashing and appropriate. The final touch was a reproduction of the hat in blue. Now you look the part and fit in. It did not take long for you to meet the rest of the Wonderbolts and with Spitfire as their Captain they were quickly accepting of you.
  528.
  529. Soarin joins you as soon as you step out of the lockers and he walks with you towards the open section of the hangar. There's a grin at the side of his lips but he refrains from saying anything until the two of you are far enough away from any other pony that might overhear.
  530.
  531. "You two get very vocal." Soarin says and laughs when you stop dead in your tracks. "I haven't seen her glow like that in ages."
  532.
  533. He inclines his head then walks out of the large hangar doors and takes flight. Your own steps take you to the edge of the doors and leaning against them you watch the training begin at the far end of the landing strip. There's the two locations for the Wonderbolts training. The first being the academy that's far from here and the second being the hangar and strip which are part of Canterlot. While watching it seems that they are getting into advanced maneuvers. Doing things you never could attempt in an aircraft with their small bodies and maneuverable wings. If only you had a pair of wings yourself to fly as they do.
  534.
  535. Turning away from the doors you head back towards the drafting table and the taped outline on the floor. Something is missing from the design
  536.
  537.     There's all the basic structure there but really you aren't entire sure what you are doing. It's going to be a long process of trial and error. As long as you can create something that will allow you to fly again it will be worth it. Being up there in the sky with them and with her is what matters with this aircraft. They've pretty much accepted you in name as a Wonderbolt, it'll be nice to prove to them that you can fly as well as one.
  538.
  539.     The work on the drafting table takes you long into the middle of the day. There's some commotion outside the hangar but you pay little attention to it. Hoof steps echo on the floor as they approach you. Setting down the pencils you stand and turn around to see the Princess Celesta looking at the sheet of paper. Blinking you quickly back up and grab a rag to wipe your fingers with. She shifts her eyes from the tape to the paper then offers a gentle smile.
  540.
  541.     "I was told you are trying to create something. When I was informed as to what it was I had to come see for myself." Her regal voice echoes off the large section of the hangar
  542.
  543.     "I'm not sure I can do it yet but I will try." You respond and step aside so that she can see the design completely.
  544.
  545.     "How long would it take you to build?" She steps over to it and starts studying the lines you've made.
  546.
  547.     "A year... two? I am not sure. I can draw it but I don't even know if I can built it." You set the rag down.
  548.
  549.     "What if I were to send a couple ponies to help you? The design looks decent but I think it can be improved. I would like to see this fly." She steps back and raises her head.
  550.
  551.     "Any help I would gladly accept. I could use an engineer I guess." You slip on the hat and stand erect at attention.
  552.
  553.     "I know just the pony. Have you decided what to call this machine?" Her eyes shift again to the tape on the floor as she studies the measurements.

  557.
  558.     "Spitfire. It's based off an aircraft from my home that was also called a Spitfire." While she's not looking you straighten your shirt and throw on your jacket quickly.
  559.
  560.     "A fitting name. You'll have my support in the construction anon." She nods her head a couple times then looks back towards you.
  561.
  562.     Clicking your heels together and giving her a half bow she smiles and inclines her head before exiting the hangar. After she's gone there's a moment where you just stand there thinking about what she said. There's a good chance with someone who has a technical background helping that it will fly. Who in Equestria though would know how to build a Spitfire? By this point in the day though the sun's only a couple hours from setting and you close up work on the design. Stepping outside of the hangar after putting away the pencils you find the main Wonderbolts lined up for a flight. Spitfire is in the lead and she glances your way briefly before turning back to the others. The five of them take flight and head off into the clouds. Long after they've left you linger outside picking up the stray piece of debris that has blown across the landing strip.
  563.
  564.     It feels good to be out here with the breeze blowing across the area. It makes take off easy to fly into the wind. The lift generated might just be enough to do a short take off if you ever get the aircraft operational. First things first though the damned thing has to be built. The Princess did say there was a pony who could help. Suprisingly Equestria has been much more accommodating than you'd of thought for a place populated by ponies. First there was Spitfire, the desire of your heart. Second there were the clothes and Wonderbolts that just seemed to come together quickly. Thirdly the Princess taking an interest in you and what you are doing. She seems to calm and regal at all times. Always curious and cordial. A woman of infinite patience and serenity. Not at all like your Spitfire who lashes out and has a temper.
  565.
  566. Still you wouldn't have it any other way. She can be a firebrand at times but so sweet in the middle of the night and caring. There's a side of her that none of the cadets know or possibly even the other Wonderbolts. That's something special that she can let her guard down around you. As you pick up another piece of debris she and the other Wonderbolts land. After she gives the debriefing they all part ways and head into the hangar. Her wings swiftly carry her to your side and she pushes back her goggles. The blue and yellow jumpsuit tight on her body and it accents her natural curves.
  567.
  568. "Lets go for a walk." You blurt out then motion to a path that leads down from the far end of the strip towards the sea below.
  569.
  570. She nods and the two of you walk side by side heading down towards the ocean. She looks up at you a couple times and as soon as you are below the view of the landing strip you stop and lean in kissing her nose.
  571.
  572. "The Princess visited me today." You tell her and she looks surprised.
  573.
  574. "Is everything ok?" She asks then hops up and kisses your nose in return.
  575.
  576. "I figure you told her about the designs. She came to see them herself and offer to send me help to construct them." You lead her off the path to a flat patch of grass.
  577.
  578. "I did. She wanted to know how you were adjusting so I told her." She stops at your side and stretches her wings.
  579.
  580. There's no need for further words as you kneel down on the grass then start running your fingers through her mane and scratching behind her ear. Her eyes start to roll up and she gets weak in the knees. There's a spot you found last night that makes her tremble at the base of her ear and you start massaging it with your fingers. She soon collapses to the grass and laying down next to her you set your hat aside and look up at the clouds. They are starting to turn orange with the setting of the sun. Spitfire pushes herself up off the grass enough to lay on top of you her head pushes against your arm begging for more.
  581.
  582. Laughing you bring both of your hands to her ears and made her tremble again. After a few minutes she licks the tip of your chin and you stop working her ears and start moving lower down her body to her next then shoulders. She sits up and looks around for a few seconds before leaning in and kissing you hard. The kiss only lasts a second before she stands up and starts kissing down your chin then your throat. Her mouth works its way further down over your jacket then to your belt where she unbuckles it with her teeth. Her head moves up again while she listens and looks for a few more seconds. Satisfied there's no one around she pulls your pants and boxers down freeing what she's been desiring.
  583.
  584. There's nothing to do except enjoy the sensation of her mouth working you until she stops then slips free of her flight suit. With her wings fully erect she slides down on top of you and the two of you make love amidst the grass until well after the sun has gone down and the moon has risen. Spent and exhausted the two of you lay together under the moonlight for awhile saying little and occasionally stroking each other. You hope that it can continue like this forever. Spitfire and you making love under the stars.
  585.
  586. In the days following the love making under the stars you've been busy working on the Spitfire project. With the help of a pony named Twilight Sparkle and her dragon assistant the progress has been steady. She's been researching and helping you plan every few days when she visits Canterlot. Every evening you've spent with Spitfire and when the night falls the two of you spend hours between the sheets. Now that nearly two weeks have passed since your first night together its been nothing but bliss.
  587.
  588. She finds you working a length of wood into shape for the frame of the aircraft. Already the basic steel support structure is in place thanks to miss Sparkle and her fire breathing assistant welding the bits together. Running a piece of pumice stone over the oak board you start rounding the edge to fit into the slot when it is ready to be added to the frame. Her hoof steps on the floor resound in the large hangar and your turn seeing her looking down at the ground with her head hanging low. Putting aside the stone and standing from the wood working you close the distance between you and drop to your knees then raise her head and look into her eyes.
  589.
  590. "Did something happen?" You ask never seeing her act this way before.
  591.
  592. "I'm..." She starts to say then stops.
  593.
  594. "Whatever it is I'm here for you." You respond and she starts to tear up slighty.
  595.
  596. "I'm... pregnant." Her voice is just above a whisper and you aren't sure you heard that correctly. You ask with a light what and she repeats herself. "I'm pregnant." This time her voice is shaky and she's on the point of crying.
  597.
  598. "Is... is that even possible?" Your mind can't quite grasp that a Human and a Pegasus could have a child.
  599.
  600. "I promise I've only been with you. I'm pregnant and I don't know how." She stumbles over the words.
  601.
  602. Throwing your arms around her neck you pull her into a heavy embrace and start soothing her fears away. Of course you trust her and there's no way she would cheat on you.
  603.
  604. "I'm scared. I... I don't know what's going to happen." She starts sobbing as her hot tears soak into your shirt.
  605.
  606. "Everything is going to be alright. I'm not going anywhere and we'll figure this out together." You nuzzle the side of her neck then whisper into her ear. "I love you."
  607.
  608. That was enough for her to break down and fully cry. Sitting on the floor you pull her into your lap and she buries her face in your chest and releases the tears she's pent up. They are more tears of relief than sorrow as she was afraid you'd reject her and not believe her fidelity. She stays in your lap for awhile and the tears stop but she does not want to move. Placing your hand over her belly you feel the heat from her and imagine the life growing inside of her. What will it be? What could it be? The Princess might be able to offer some answers but as far as either of you know this has never happened before. Still there's a nagging sensation that the Princess may have known this would happen. She did say that the two of you were a good match and you've proven that sexually both of you are perfect for each other. Perhaps there was more to that comment and she meant that the two of you could start a family. There's just too many unanswered questions at the moment but another comes to your mind. It's been the happiest time of your life here and you don't want it to end. The pregnancy is just an affirmation of the love you've shared with her. There's another step you could take that would seal the two of you together. Something that honestly you've been thinking about for a few days.
  609.
  610. "Spitfire," You begin and she raises her head from your chest. "Will you marry me?"
  611.
  612. "What?" She suddenly jumps back completely thrown off by the question.
  613.
  614. "Not just for the baby but for us." Standing from the floor you stretch your legs then look back to her. "I want us to be together. A proper family if we are having a child."
  615.
  616. There's a full minute where she says and does nothing. That's one of the longest minutes of your life as your mind starts thinking that perhaps you made a mistake in asking her to marry you. The two of you have been so close and it just seemed natural but she's having doubts. It should have been an easy question to answer a simple yes or no. Finally after what seems an age she launches herself at you and knocked you to the floor. Standing on top of you she kisses you harder than she ever has and you lose all breath. It does not matter you don't need to breathe. She breaks away just before you start passing out then she collapses on top of you curling both her legs and wings around your body.
  617.
  618. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. Yes I'll marry you. I just thought about us and about what future we could have and even thinking about you not being there was too much pain. I need you, I want you and I want to be your wife. I want to have our child and I will continue loving you. I panicked. I thought that you might hate me or leave me. I was so scared that you wouldn't be around anymore." She starts blubbering against your chest again.
  619.
  620. Tomorrow you'd ask the Princess, tomorrow you'd get up off the floor and do the tasks that needed to be done. Tomorrow you'd care about the Wonderbolts as they walked into the hangar and saw the two of you on the floor with their Captain crying. For right now though there's no reason to care about anything else than her and the child growing inside of her. Wedding details would come later. Everything else would come later. There's no need to rush any of it at the moment. For now all you two need is each other.
  621.
  622. Princess Celestia had no answers to the pregnancy. She was as surprised as the two of you were. Although you suspected she had always known it was possible she never gave up any hints. The days since Spitfire confessed she was pregnant stretched into weeks and months. Almost a year had passed yet so much had happened. The two of you were married quietly, yet someone found out and it became hot news in Canterlot. Eventually you had to conceded to a formal reception hosted by the Princesses. There were so many ponies to meet and greet. They brought gifts which helped in the coming months greatly. After the fervor of the wedding died down it was back to work.
  623.
  624. The Spitfire project had gathered attention from some of the finest designers and builders in Equestria. They had come to see and help with the construction of the craft. What had seemed an impossibility a year ago was half way to being flyable now. There was so much work left to do but it would come in time. The last year had seen your wife's belly grow from nothing to the size of a beach ball. Neither one of you were sure what she would give birth to and it had restricted her flying after the first six months. She had given temporary command of the Wonderbolts to Soarin in her absence. The final month went by in such a blur trying to ready everything that before you were aware of it she was ready to give birth.
  625.
  626. The delivery room was not a place you were allowed to go. That was all well enough because you weren't entirely sure what would happen. Tense hours passed as she was in there bringing your child into the world. After a long time the nurse stepped through the doors and motioned for you to come inside. Laying in the bed Spitfire looked exhausted but beautiful. Clutched lovingly in her arms was a blanket wrapped bundle. This was the moment that you had been anticipating since the announcement. There was so much nervous tension built up inside of you like a spring just waiting to be released. Then you saw... her... and it all melted away. Those large and sleepy amber eyes were unfocused and closing. Her hair was the same shade as her mothers with the same highlights. There was no mistaking that pink smooth hairless skin as being Human. Leaning in you gently kissed the tip of her forehead. There was no way of getting around it, your daughter was beautiful. There was something else though. Spitfire removed the blanket enough to show her lower half. She had her mother's legs ending in hoofs. Yellow downy fur with a bright orange tail. Oh so gently your hand touched her leg then hoof and you let out a soft laugh. This was completely unexpected. She was half Spitfire and half you. Folding the blanket around her naked form you leaned in again and kissed her mother. The two of you shared the solemn moment of your daughter's birth with light kisses.
  627.
  628. "What should we call her?" You asked just above a whisper. The child had fallen back asleep.
  629.
  630. "Hurricane." Your wife whispered back. "It's how we met and what brought you here." She said with a smile.
  631.
  632. "Hurricane... I think she'll live up to that name." A soft chuckle escaped your lips.
  633.
  634. No one had any answers about how fast she'd grow. Her spurts seemed to happen over night even though they took weeks. She went from being a small helpless babe to being able to walk within a week. .
  635.
  636. She was noisy, messy and a joy when she was not cranky. It had changed your life enough that the three of you bought a house in Canterlot outside of the Wonderbolt's hangar. The project was still in production but it had slowed significantly since the birth of your daughter.
  637.
  638. As soon as she had learned to run she learned to hop. That was disastrous when she hopped too far off the bed and banged her head on the ground. Her small stunted wings would grow out but for now they just fluttered on her back. They were moving quickly when you picked her up off the ground and checked her for injuries. Only her pride was damaged and you kissed her on the head and told her to be a good girl. Told her why she shouldn't jump off the bed. You knew she did not understand it exactly but she hopped more cautiously from that day on.
  639.
  640. Spitfire had resumed her role as the Captain of the Wonderbolts and that left you in charge of your little Hurricane for half the day. She was growing so damn fast it was incredible. It would be a couple more months before she would be speaking but she was jumping now and rolling around. Crouching, crawling and getting into everything. If there was a way Hurricane had the will to do it. One of the best parts of her being a toddler though was when the two of you were alone one evening. You had attempted to start reading a book because she was being quiet and playing with her blocks. Before you knew it though she had crawled up into your lap and was tapping the pages of the book with her small hands. Closing it you decided to put it away and play with her but she reached for it and pulled it back to your lap. Again you put it away and she reached for it once more. She wouldn't let go of it and opened the book to a random page then started slapping it with her palm and looked up at you. With a slight grin you moved the pages back to the first and started reading out loud. She was captivated. She sat still and listened to the words of the story.
  641.
  642. If you happened to pause for too long she'd slap the pages again. If you started skipping through them she'd keep slapping until you returned to where you had left off. After an hour you tried to put the book away but she protested and wanted you to read more. By the time Spitfire came home the both of you were well engrossed into the story. She wouldn't give the book up even when it was time for bed. Eventually she fell asleep in your lap and you carried her to her crib next to the bed and laid her down. The two of you had made it almost a hundred pages in and there would be more books over the years that you could read to her.
  643.
  644. Sitting on the edge of the bed you rested your hand on the frame of the cradle and Spitfire climbed into the bed next to you. She rested her chin on your shoulder and the two of you watched little Hurricane sleep soundly.
  645.
  646. "You know," You began turning to look at your wife. "She's moving so fast, I don't want her to grow up. Not yet."
  647.
  648. "I know." She smiles and kisses your cheek. "She won't a little girl forever but she'll be our little girl."
  649.
  650. With a nod you turn your attention back to the sleeping child and smile. At the rate she's going within ten years she'll be dating. That's ten years down the line so you don't have to start worrying about it yet. Right now she's just a yellow winged angel asleep in her crib. Standing you cross the distance to the door and shut off the light. With your two favorite girls there's no need to worry, not tonight.
  651.
  652. There had been some issues with the aircraft. The first initial test flight had been without an engine, that particular problem was yet to be solved. Having applied the wire linkage system for the control surfaces, skinned most of it and built a cockpit it was ready for a glide test. Using a combination of unicorn magic and Spitfire's wing power to get it aloft you were in the cock pit being overly cautious as it flew. Slowly you started to turn in a shallow circle and that's when the problem occurred. The wire system stuck and you had no chance of moving direction. The aircraft lost altitude and crashed into the runway. Aside from being banged around you were fine. For the most part the project was salvageable.
  653.
  654. Now it was back in the hangar without the skin as you working on repairing the steering system. So much for a maiden flight, but it could have gone much worse. Reaching out your hand a wrench its slapped into it and you tighten several nuts. Handing the wrench back it is taken by a small hand and disappears into the tool box.
  655.
  656. "What do you think?" You turn and look at Hurricane who is teetering on the edge of her hooves with a big smile.
  657.
  658. She's over two years old now and much bigger than any Human two year old. She has to be at least five compared to a Human child. Where they are still struggling with balance and getting to know their world she's already been outrunning you for the last year. Soon enough she'll fly and join her mother in the sky. For now though she is still earthbound and eager to learn. Reaching out a clean hand you rough up her hair and she giggles.
  659.
  660. "Is it going to fly again?" She asks while handing you another wrench.
  661.
  662. "Soon as I get the problems worked out I'll take you up in it." You take the wrench and start loosening another set of nuts.
  663.
  664. "Daddy, why don't you have wings?" She rocks back and forth on her hooves after putting her arms behind her back.
  665.
  666. "I was not as lucky as you and mom. I was born without them."
  667.
  668. While your back is turned she reaches out and touches your shoulder blades. There's nothing there but smooth skin and bone under your shirt. She puts her small arms around you and gives you a hug. Putting down the wrench you turn around and pick her up then turn back to the repair work and start pointing to what you've been doing.
  669.
  670. "This part here Hurricane is where the wings attach to the fuselage." Your finger points out the main support structure.
  671.
  672. "What's a fusel?" She asks looking up at your chin.
  673.
  674. "It's a fancy french word for the body of the plane. So we've got the fuselage and the wings come off but hopefully not in flight. That's what I'm doing right now, making sure everything is still strong enough to attach properly."
  675.
  676. Most of what you have just said goes over her head but she nods trying to understand. Picking up the wrench you hand it to her and show her how to tighten the nuts on the frame. She tries her best but can only get them most of the way before she has no strength to tighten them further. Kissing the tip of her ear you put your hand over hers and the two of you tighten the series of nuts.
  677.
  678. "Daddy, it's ok that you don't have wings. I still love you." She says and the tip of her wings tickle the bottom of your chin.
  679.
  680. "I still love him too." Spitfire says from behind the two of you. You had not heard her arrive.
  681.
  682. Hurricane jumps from your lap with a shout of mommy and runs to give her a hug. Setting the wrench down in the tool box you wipe away the grease and oil from your fingers then stand and make your way over to them both.
  683.
  684. "I've been thinking about you." You smile and drop to a knee to put and arm around both of them. "Auntie Dash asked me if she could take Hurricane for a night. Her kid is getting a bit lonely and she thinks a sleepover would be nice."
  685.
  686. Rainbow Dash had a child of her own much like yours. A satyr that was cute as a button and had her rainbow hair and wings. Hurricane and her had become friendly but never really spent much time together. Over a year ago Dash had rejoined the Wonderbolts and spent as much time in Canterlot these days as Ponyville. She had her own place not too far from yours and if there were any issues you or Spitfire would be a quick jaunt away. She'd come to you earlier in the day proposing the sleep over. Not only would it be good for Hurricane, it would give you and Spitfire some much needed time together.
  687.
  688. "I think that's a great idea." Spitfire says and nuzzles Hurricane's cheek. "What do you think, want to go spend the night over at Auntie Dash's?"
  689.
  690. Hurricane jumped with joy at the idea and wanted to run off to get her things. Spitfire took her and you finished putting away the tools for the evening. Leaving the hangar it was a short walk to your home. A nice modest place that was two stories with a large balcony. As you entered the front door you were almost knocked over by Hurricane as she was running around trying to gather everything. Having no real idea what she would need on a sleep over she was trying to pack it all. There was a laugh from behind your shoulder and your turned around seeing Rainbow Dash and her child standing just outside the door.
  691.
  692. "Thanks for taking her." You say and step further in allowing them both to come inside.
  693.
  694. "Not a problem. I know how crazy it can get when you don't have a break sometimes. I'll have her back in the morning." Dash smiles and her daughter runs in to join Hurricane.
  695.
  696. The two satyrs are now running circles around the house throwing things into a bag then taking them out, then throwing them in again. Thankfully Rainbow Dash and Spitfire step in and make sure only the needed things are packed. A plush toy, a pillow, a blanket and a flash light. With a deep sigh you watch as she goes for the first time since she's been around. It'll be alright, you trust Dash enough to watch over her for the evening.
  697.
  698. "Well... now what?" Spitfire asks after the three have disappeared down the road. "The house is so quiet."
  699.
  700. "Now my dear..." You pick her up and walk over to the sofa then lay down with her on top.
  701.
  702. She laughs and kisses your nose then she settles in for a long cuddle. Every night you fall asleep together but this is different. There's just quiet for the first time in two years. With only the sounds of you both breathing it's perfect to just relax and enjoy her close as you used to. The sun fades into night as the two of you keep embracing, stealing kisses every once in awhile.
  703.
  704. The first flight is always the hardest. Your first time up in a plane was an old Tiger Moth that creaked when you hit a thermal. That old composition of wood and linen felt like it flexing with every moment. Now though you weren't the one going to take a first flight. Unwinding the scarf around Hurricane's neck, you wind it again making sure it is properly secured. Fussing over the zipper on her jacket she starts getting slightly annoyed. You have to make sure everything's perfect though. Unlike your first time she won't have the benefit of an aircraft surrounding her. She's going to be out there unprotected if something should go wrong. Cleaning off her goggles with your sleeve you put them back around your head. Suddenly you are butted out of the way by Spitfire's head pushing your chest.
  705.
  706. "Honey it will be fine. I'll be right there with her." Your wife says equally frustrated with you.
  707.
  708. "Alright, alright. I'll leave her in your hooves." You step away and pick up a pair of binoculars.
  709.
  710. There's some last minute adjustments as Spitfire fusses over her as well but in ways you'd never be knowing off. She checks her wing strength and sees if she really can make the flight. It has been building to this moment over the past few weeks. Hurricane's been lifting herself off the ground but no real sustained flight yet. She has been so eager to launch herself into the air. Spitfire and you urged caution though. Today was the day she either would or wouldn't succeed. There's nothing more you can do save stand and watch.
  711.
  712. With coaxing Spitfire leads Hurricane down the runway with short hops to warm up her wings. After a few minutes it is finally time and part of you does not want to watch. There's a lump in your throat as Hurricane starts running down the tarmac. She jumps... and hits runway again with her hooves. She jumps a second time and it's a few seconds longer until she hits the ground. A third time in this run and then she's airborne.
  713.
  714. It's only a few feet off the ground. Exhaling a breath you did not even know you were keeping in makes you calmer. Then without warning she rockets skyward and your stomach sinks. She's going high and fast. Spitfire's easily keeping up with her but when the hell did her wings become strong enough to propel her that fast? Raising the binoculars to your eyes the two of them loop then disappear into the clouds. Grumbling softly you wish they had stayed within view. There's so much potential for disaster, even though you couldn't do anything it would have been better to keep an eye on her. Lowering the binoculars you set them aside then suddenly she drops from the sky. She's falling fast and coming straight at you. There's no chance to panic as you run towards where you think she'll hit. All you have to do is catch her and she'll be ok. She stops the fast descent at the last second and floats into your outstretched arms. Grabbing on to her you sink back to the tarmac and she starts drumming her hands on your chest in giddiness.
  715.
  716. "Did you see me? Did you see! That was awesome! I went up through the clouds! They are so cool and wet. I went up and saw the sun and a bird then I decided I wanted to come back down to you daddy. That was great! I want to do it again!" She keeps rambling on squealing with joy.
  717.
  718. Really you can't be mad at her for long. She about gave you a heart attack thinking she was uncontrollably falling. Kissing her forehead you let her go and she jumps up and tries to take off again. He's pulled back down by Spitfire's teeth on her scarf. Groaning at her mother she tries to break free but is held in place.
  719.
  720. Standing you brush off your knees then pick up Hurricane and put her on your shoulders. She starts protesting. She wants to fly as fast and as far as she can. Given time she will. Right now though you need to keep her from doing too much. She's still just a kid that needs a nap.
  721.
  722. "That's enough for today. You did great. Better than great. But I think it's time for Hurricane to sleep." Spitfire says smiling up at her.
  723.
  724. "I can go again! Mom let me go once more I can show you how cool I can be like Rainbow Dash or like you. I'm..." She stifles a yawn. "I'm not...tired."
  725.
  726. Laughing softly you start walking back towards your home with Spitfire at your side and Hurricane on your shoulders. She tries to negotiate her way into another flight but keeps yawning and before you even make it back she's asleep against your head. After you put her to bed there's a moment where you and your wife are looking at her sleeping form in the small bed. Bending down you kiss your wife's cheek and put your arm around her neck.
  727.
  728. "I have never been so scared in my life. I thought she was plummeting." You confess.
  729.
  730. "She... was... for the first ten seconds." Spitfire looks at you sheepishly.
  731.
  732. "What the bloody hell?" You exclaim then try to keep quiet so you don't wake her.
  733.
  734. "It's ok. I pulled her out of it and she wanted to go back to you. She'll be a great flyer." She smiles then kisses your cheek.
  735.
  736. With a sigh you look from Spitfire back to Hurricane. Damn these women and the troubles they give you. Still... there's no other way you'd have it.
