  1. >”Say Anon…” Rainbow says from your side as you both lazed about in the park
  2. “Hmm?” you respond
  3. >”You know about the gala coming up right?”
  4. >The Grand Galloping Gala? Even as the only human round you had heard of it
  5. “Yeah, what of it?”
  6. >”Well, I-I was wondering…” she looks away, her cheeks bleeding into scarlet
  7. >”Would…w-would be you my date for it?...” she asks sounding more like Fluttershy at the end
  8. >Oh Dashie, how did you get so cute?
  9. “Dash you can’t be serious?”
  10. >Her face is almost heartbreakingly sad “O-oh, yeah, um nevermind, j-just joking is all…”
  11. “I would love to!”
  12. >She whips her head back up “W-what?”
  13. “I said I would love to, infact…”
  14. >You reach into your back pocket and pull a box from it
  15. >You open it and hear Dash gasp
  16. >It’s a silver necklace with a jewel that shines in the colors of a rainbow
  17. “I got this just for the occasion”
  18. >You take the jewelry and slip it around the neck of the still stunned Rainbow Dash
  19. >She babbles for a moment before she looks at you, her face flushed red
  20. >With no warning she rushes you and plants her lips on yours in a deep, loving kiss
  21. >You wrap your arms around her and pull her close, drawing deeper into the lip lock

  34. >”Say Anon, you’re such an awesome friend that I um, wanted you to have this” Dash says, offering you a large primary feather that had fallen out of her wing
  35. >You take the feather and inspect it against the sunlight
  36. >The large feather looks to be almost double the size of a quill and sports the same bright cyan color of it’s old owner
  37. “Thanks Dash, any reason why?”
  38. >She looks away, a dusting of pink on her cheeks “W-well it’s an old pegasus custom to give feathers to awesome friends you know? And I can’t think of somep0ny, somehuman more awesome than you”
  39. >You smile, oh Dash, she’s too adorable all flustered like this
  40. “Well I would hate to leave a gift like this go unrewarded”
  41. >She tilts her head to the side “Unrewarded?”
  42. >Giving her no time to think you scoop her up into your arms and hug her tight, marveling at how soft the athletic p0ny is
  43. >”Hey!”
  44. >Despite her protests, she makes no effort to move
  45. “You know Dash, you’re awful soft” you say as you let her down
  46. >”Soft? I’ll show you!”
  47. >She lunges at you the instant she is on her feet, knocking you to the ground
  48. “Is that how you want to play?”
  49. >You turn under Dash and grab her, turning the conflict into a wrestling match
  50. >In flurry of flailing limbs and giggles from the prismatic p0ny, the impromptu struggle rages for some time
  51. >After all is said and done, you find yourself on your couch with Dash cuddled up to you, tuckered out
  52. >As Dash dozes with a soft, content smile on her face you run your fingers though her colorful mane and smile
  53. >There could be no life more splendid than this one

  65. >”Ow!” Dash winces as she brushed her wing against the doorframe walking into your house
  66. >What wrong with her?
  67. “You ok Dash?”
  68. >She folds her wings down tenderly and looks up to you with a pained expression “Yeah, I’m fine, wings are just a bit cramped up and sore”
  69. >Her wings?
  70. >Well, she did fly around most of the time, sometimes breaking the sound barrier
  71. >That had to hurt eventually
  72. >Best not assume though
  73. “Why is that?” you ask as you lead her the couch
  74. >”Just a pegasus thing I guess, I mean we do fly most places” she says as she hops up onto the couch, settling herself next to you
  75. “Want some help with it?”
  76. >She looks skeptically at you “What can you do?”
  77. “Turn your back to me and I’ll show you”
  78. >She does as asked and looks back
  79. >”So what are you going to dooooooooo~” she trails off as your bring your hands to the base of her wings and gently rub the surprisingly tender spots
  80. >Working your way up the wings, let your fingers glide over the downy feathers and they seek out tense spots and knead them away, prompting Dash to lay down and close her eyes
  81. >”You…You’re really good at this Anon…” she mutters sleepily, a dopey smile finding it’s way to her face
  82. “Glad you like it” you reply
  83. >Digging your hands under the feathers you get right at the wing itself, eliciting an “Mmmmm..” from the cyan p0ny as you marvel at the almost silk like texture of the feathered appendages
  84. >While rubbing a spot on her wings you suddenly feel both of them go limp
  85. >The sound of soft snores catches your attention
  86. >She had fallen asleep
  87. >Looking at the peaceful expression on her face you can’t help but smile
  88. >Running a hand down her wing one last time, making her smile in her sleep you lay down next to her and drift off yourself

  105. >Idly watching a few pegasi walk by you spy Dash walk towards you with her head hung

  107. “Hey Dash, what’s wrong?”
  108. >You looks up at you with a glum expression “What’s wrong? I sucked that’s what’s wrong…”
  109. >What?
  110. “Dash why in the world would you think that?!”
  111. >She turns away “Why WOULDEN’T I? Did you see the way I messed up that corkscrew? Or that dive? How about-“
  112. >You cut her off as you get down to one knee
  113. >With your forefinger and thumb on her chin, you pull her face around to look at you
  114. >Her soulful magenta eyes seem perilously close to tears as they stare into your own
  115. >It breaks your heart to see Rainbow, ever indomitable Rainbow look so vulnerable
  116. >No, you will not let this go on
  117. >You shift your face into a stern expression
  118. “Rainbow you listen to me, I know for a fact that you were the best out there, not one of the others even came close to how well you did. You out-sped, out maneuvered, and just plain out did all of them. Now stop with this being mopey, it’s not becoming of the best flyer around”
  119. >She sniffles “You mean it?”
  120. “One hundred and twenty percent”
  121. >She shifts some and smiles lightly
  122. >Nuzzling her face to yours, she says “Thanks Anon…”
  123. “Anytime” you say as you bring your hands to her face and run your thumbs though the plush fur of her cheeks
  124. >You stand up and point back to the front of the stage
  125. “Go win your award”
  126. >She grins and struts back out, a spring in her step
  127. >Leaning against the backstage wall you wait only a few moments before you hear
  128. >”This year’s Best Young Flyer is…RAINBOW DASH!” Followed by thunderous applause
  129. >You smile from your spot

  139. “R-rainbow? Are you sure about this?”
  140. >”Sure I’m sure!”
  141. >You glance down at the ground and gulp
  142. >Rainbow, somehow had convinced you to let her fly you up to a cloud after Twilight had given you a cloud-walking spell with a zap of her horn
  143. >And the height was a bit more than you thought it was
  144. >”If you fall, I’ll catch ya. Don’t worry”
  145. “Easier said than done…” you grumble under your breath
  146. >But you had to admit, it’s nice up here     
  147. >Just you and Dash chilling
  148. >”Hey Anon, check out the sunset!” Dash exclaims with a hoof pointed out
  149. >You turn your eyes to see the sun slowly setting, painting the soon-to-be night sky with a breathtaking mix of pastel pinks and yellows
  150. “Yeah…that really something” you say distracted
  151. >”I know right?” Rainbow says and she shuffles closer to you
  152. >After just a few minutes in a comfortable silence you notice Rainbow shiver a bit
  153. “Cold?”
  154. >”A little…”
  155. >Well you know how to solve that
  156. >”Anon? what are you-?”
  157. >Wrapping your arms round her you pull her into your lap and hold her close
  158. >Her shivering almost immediately subsides
  159. “Better?” you ask
  160. >”Mmmm, much better” Dash says as she snuggles herself into your arms and chest
  161. >You do the same and rest your head on hers, her soft, prismatic mane tickling your chin
  162. >For almost an hour you both sat there, watching the sun dip below the horizon and take it’s colorful canvas of sky with it
  163. >Moving at bit to rouse Rainbow, she reluctantly disengages herself from you
  164. >”So, cool am I right?” she asks with a grin
  165. “Very, let me know the next time you want to do this”
  166. >You stand and stretch
  167. >…Right before you fall though the cloud…
  168. >”Anon!” Rainbow yells before diving after you
  169. >It would be another month before she convinced you to go again

  177. >’It's a rather stormy day today’ you think as you glance up from your book to the window where rain pitter-pattered against the glass
  178. >The whole room lights up with the harsh, white light of lightning accompanied by a house shaking boom of thunder as the storm rages outside
  179. “I hope no one got caught out in that” you mutter to yourself from your spot on your couch
  180. > Just as you finish that sentence, you hear the distinct knocking of hoof on wood come from your front door
  181. >Could someone really be out there?    
  182. >Better not leave them hanging
  183. >Marking your place in your book, you stand and walk briskly to your door where the knocking was sounding more and more impatient
  184. >You open it just as your unexpected guest tried to knock again, leaving her looking rather confused at the sudden lack of door
  185. “Rainbow?”
  186. >Indeed it's Rainbow Dash, looking rather tired and soaked to the bone thanks to the copious amount of rain
  187. >”Err h-hey Anon, mind if I come in for a bit?” She asks trying to hide her cold induced shakes
  188. “Of course not, getting in here before you catch something" you say as you ushered her out of the cold rain into your warm house
  189. >”It’s not like I'm cold or anything, just want to drop by and say hey!” She calls after you as you walk deeper into your house to get a towel
  190. "Right" you say skeptically as you come back with the biggest towel you own
  191. >”Hey what are you-!" You cut her off as you drape the towel over her and scrub as hard as you could without hurting her
  192. >The towel does its job and pulls the water from Rainbow’s plush fur with little effort
  193. "So how did you get caught out in the storm anyway?" You ask as you dry off her prismatic mane
  194. >She huffs at the memory as she turns her head, letting you get at her ears better "Some jerk up in Cloudsdale accidentally threw a cloud machine into overdrive, sending a giant storm system over town"
  195. >You just nod, not really knowing the specifics of weather production
  196. >Once the pegasus is as dry as she could get you roll up the now wet towel and toss it aside for now
  197. >”See? Just fine" Rainbow says with a smile, failing to hide her chattering teeth
  198. >Fine? You beg to differ       
  199. >You lay a hand on her shoulder to find that it's ice cold
  200. >That won't do at all
  201. >You walk back to the couch where your book lay, while motioning to Rainbow to follow
  202. >You seat yourself down and Rainbow hops up next to you, looking at you with inquisitive magenta eyes
  203. >Without a word you pull a blanket that you had draped over the back of the couch and wrap it around the freezing p0ny
  204. "Stay as long as you need”   
  205. >Rainbow opens her mouth to protest but stops as the warmth of the blanket starts to seep into her
  206. >Pulling it ever so slightly tighter around her she settles herself down on the couch, but not before scooting closer to you and laying her head in your lap, expression of contentment on her face
  207. >Without even thinking you bring a hand down to her head and run it through her still somewhat damp multicolored mane, your fingers parting the individual colors on her head
  208. >Rainbow smiles softly and lets her eyes drift shut, a quiet noise coming from her to had to be the pony equivalent to a purr
  209. >For a while you both simply sit like this, glad to just be spending this moment together
  210. >Then Rainbow opens her eyes and looks up at you with an unreadable expression
  211. >”Say Anon? This is nice and all but I think I know something that would be better”
  212. >You raise an eyebrow, looking away from your book to her, prompting her to continue
  213. >Rather than speak, she picks herself up and bites the collar of your shirt, giving it a tug
  214. >You just do what she wishes, letting her pull you into a lying down position on your back on the couch
  215. >With that done, Rainbow unwraps the blanket from around her and drags it with her as she lays herself on your chest, pulling the blanket up so it covered both you
  216. >”You’re a lot warmer you know” she says with a heart melting smile
  217. >You can't help but feel touched that they usually rough-and-tumble pegasus held you in such high regard that she could break her usual attitude and show you the tender side of herself that even her other friends almost never get to see
  218. >You feel your own smile creeping up on your face as you wrap your arms around the p0ny and hold her tight
  219. >The cyan pegasus lays her head on your chest, her ear right over your heart as she steadily drifts off to the sound of its steady beating
  220. >You feel her wings shuffle under the blanket and settle themselves over your arms, as if trying to embrace you back
  221. >A sense of contentment fills you as sleep slowly creeps over you as well
  222. >What a perfect day for a storm
