  4. Some time after the trial.
  5. >http://youtu.be/vG-vmVrHOGE
  6. >There's something calling your name.
  7. >A friend, perhaps.
  8. >Outside your home, once again, you see her sorrowful face.
  9. >“I abandoned you. I abandoned both of you.”
  10. >It seems like a regular occurrence, apologies to and fro with this mare.
  11. “Lyra. Don't fret.”
  12. >“It was an awful thing to do! I don't understand... Everything is a blur. It was just an instinct, I swear it!”
  13. >You hold up your hands to her, praying she stops this frantic plea.
  14. “Look. I'm free. She isn't. I'm just glad it's all over.”
  15. >The unicorn looks conflicted.
  16. >“So... you're not mad at me?”
  17. >You pinch the bridge of your nose.
  18. >Then you explain.
  19. “Why would I be? That part of my life is a distant echo now. Hollow Shades, the Chronicle, Princess goddamn Luna, for crying out loud. That isn't what I want from life. You know me well enough. I keep to myself. But now... Sh-they're all pretty much out of my life.”
  20. >“I suppose you're right...”
  21. “Of course I am. And I'm happy this way.”
  22. >Slightly reassured, she relaxes.
  23. “I've told you this a hundred times. I'm long over what you did.”
  24. >The conversation very quickly dies.
  25. >“So...”
  26. >She stops.
  27. >“What are you going to do now?”
  28. “Oh, I don't know. Maybe I'll get back to work with Twilight, like I should've done long ago. Who knows? I've yet to decide.”
  29. >She brings a hoof to her chin, puzzling.
  30. >“I worry about you.”
  31. “Why?”
  32. >Out of nowhere, a pair of hooves wrap around your waist.
  33. >A head plops on your shoulders.
  34. >“Oh, Lyra.”
  35. >She backs away upon seeing the mare.
  36. >“...You.”
  37. >Politely, Lyra greets your friend.
  38. >“As I was saying Anon, I thought you had nothing to distract you from your thoughts.”
  39. >Slightly raising your brow, Lyra's previous grimace turns sweet.
  40. >“I can see that's not going to be a problem.”
  41. >The hooves drop to the floor, and Echo pops her head out from behind you.
  42.
  43. “Hey! What's that supposed to mean?”
  44. >She chuckles at the pair of you.
  45. >“Oh come on, anypony with a brain could see it.”
  46. >What's she getting at?
  47. >“You and Anon... Heh. Heh.”
  48. “What are you talking abo- Oh.”
  49. >Despite your best efforts, there's no stopping the flush of red from your cheeks.
  50. >Cheeky Lyra bumps her brows up and down.
  51. >“You know what I'm talking about, right Anon?”
  52. >He pulls at his collar.
  53. >“Uh... Is it hot in here?”
  54. >You plant a hoof in your face.
  55. “Anon, we're outside.”
  56. >His face droops disappointedly.
  57. >“Oh. Right.”
  58. >Lyra persists.
  59. >“Come on! Admit it, you two...”
  60. >Both of you look at each other.
  61. >Then look back at Lyra.
  62. “You can decide that one.”
  63. >You wink at her.
  64. “Don't you have to go see your dad about something anyway?”
  65. >She looks towards the clock in the centre of town.
  66. >“Oh f- I'll catch you later guys, I'm running super late!”
  67. >The pair of you laugh, and call out to her.
  68. “Bye Lyra!”
  69. >The door shuts behind the pair of you as you walk inside.
  70. >“The couch looks comfy. Wanna sit?”
  71. >You smile at him.
  72. “Of course.”
  73. >“Any word from your dad?”
  74. >Ever since this whole incident, you and your father had decided to send a letter to each other every so often, if not just to check up on each other.
  75. >Sometimes there was lots to say, others, not so much.
  76. “Yes, he told me there was a brawl at the tavern in Hollow Shades, and he even drew a little 'illustration'.”
  77. >“This should be good. Let's see it?”
  78. >You go through to the kitchen; the note lies on the counter.
  79. >When you come back through Anon takes it from under your wing.
  80. >What he's greeted with...
  81. >Is a stick-figure drawing of ponies fighting.
  82. >There was something meant to be a smashed bottle... but it looked more like some random grass.
  83. >Anon tries to hide his chuckles.
  84. “Well, there's a reason his cutie mark isn't a pencil.”
  85. >He giggles beneath his breath.
  86. >You lie down on the couch, sleepy.
  87. >With no warning, you feel the warmth of Anon's arms sliding their way along your body.
  88. >A comforting sensation, one not felt since...
  89. >Well, only a few minutes ago, really.
  90. “Whatever we are Anon, friends, special someponies, whatever else Lyra can possibly come up with...”
  91. >Anon laughs again.
  92. >He shifts, moving his head above to look in your eyes.
  93. >A shining smile can't help from making its way onto your face.
  94. “Thanks to you...”
  95. >He says nothing, but you can feel his heartbeat quickening.
  96. “I'm so glad that I finally have a place I can call home.”
  97.
  98. The (real) End.
