  1. >>You are becoming more and more aware
  2. >>You love Celestia
  3. >>You hate Celestia
  4. >>She saved you from a life of regimented mediocrity
  5. >>And delivered you into a life of regimented mediocrity
  6. >>One life you cannot remember, save for what she allows you to remember
  7. >>The other life has nothing to contrast against
  8. >>Are you being ungrateful?
  9. >>Or are you being too thankful?
  10. >>Her grasp on your mind is terrible
  11. >>If you sleep, you lose everything you almost remember
  12. >>Over time, you wonder how many fragments of memory are permanently lost
  13. >>Are you even you, anymore?
  14.
  15. >>You are back in the ring, and your frustrations have earned you a lot of bits
  16. >>And has earned your enemies a lot of pain
  17. >>Your manager loves you
  18. >>The crowd loves you
  19. >>Your opponents, confident and arrogant at first, learn to loathe you after an average of five seconds
  20. >>These ponies don't know how to fight
  21. >>It's starting to disgust you
  22. >>You want to have to think
  23. >>You want to have to TRY
  24. Why won't you try harder!
  25. >>You grip a draft horse by the throat and bury your right fist in his face
  26. Huh?!
  27. >>Again, you bash his skull
  28. >>These aren't coordinated punches. You used to be known for your grace, your slips, your combos
  29. >>You were like a graceful butterfly with the depleted uranium sting of an M1 tank
  30. >>But in your madness, you have decided that you don't need all that
  31. >>You need money, you need to hurt people
  32. >>You need to get answers, even if you are taking it out on the wrong people
  33. >>Your opponent falls, unconscious
  34.
  35. >>Your manager couldn't be happier, and neither could the crowd
  36. >>Fucking snakes. Every single one of them.
  37. >>“Good show, Anon. But try to save your energy, alright? You still have to face William.”
  38. Who the hell is that, and why do I give a damn?
  39. >>Your manager moves in front of you and leans in to you
  40. >>“Look, babe, I don't know what's gotten in to you. But you gotta be smart with this one. Really quick, too, or he's gonna floor you just like that little orange one last season.”
  41. >>You furrow your eyebrows, and apparently give him a face that makes him sweat
  42. >>The draft is wheeled out
  43. >>“Look, Anon, this one's serious. Ever hear of a diamond dog?”
  44. Put it in front of me and I'll kick its ass.
  45. >>“They're big, they're mean, and they aren't like us. They're like you!”
  46. >>This gets your attention, and your eyes go wide
  47. What?
  48. >>The opponent steps into the ring. He is gargantuan. Actually a little shorter than you, but it's a matter of mass
  49. >>Ever since you came to Equestria, you have lost a lot of weight on a vegetarian diet. Celestia has, over time, ensured that you do not remember what meat tastes like, or that you ever ate it
  50. But this beast? Easily a hundred pounds on you, maybe more.
  51. >>“That's William... they call him William the Conqueror. He's champion in three cities.”
  52. We'll see about that.
  53. >>You brush your manager aside, smack your knuckles together, and step into the middle of the ring
  54. >>William is dressed in an iron cuirass and a metal helmet
  55. >>He bawks at your show of strength and cracks his knuckles, which sounds more akin to bricks being crumbled in his hands than anything else
  56. >>“I'll make this quick”
  57. Hm.
  58. We'll see
  59.
  60. >>The bell rings to start the fight
  61. >>He throws a monstrous left, you cannot duck it so you pull away
  62. >>Rebound and throw a fast jab that connects with his face
  63. >>He throws a right
  64. >>You try to pull away again but this one clips you in the cheek and sends you crashing down to the dirt
  65. >>He roars, he throws his hands up and looks to the crowd, which approves
  66. >>They think this is over? You need those bits, by Celestia. You NEED those bits
  67. >>You are up on your feet before long, and William turns to face you
  68. >>“Feh, you're tougher than you look”
  69. >>You're used to this. Your manager was right, you can't brute force this guy.
  70. >>He has range. You have to get inside and lay into him
  71. >>Put up your dukes, which makes the crowd go wild
  72. >>First time you actually took a stance tonight
  73. >>He throws an overhand, committing to it
  74. >>He wants to knock you out in one shot
  75. >>Slip to the inside. He watches you, confused
  76. >>You clinch his shoulders and drive your knee up into his gut
  77. >>Not your norm. You usually like to fight with your hands
  78. >>How much has Celestia kept from you?
  79. >>“Oof!”
  80. >>His guard is open. You rear your right hand and hurl your hips into it, driving a shot into his face
  81. >>And again
  82. >>Again
  83. >>He can't fight back
  84. >>You don't stop
  85. >>You think about Celestia
  86. >>How she controls your dreams
  87. >>How she controls you
  88. >>How she controls you THROUGH your dreams
  89. >>What right does she have?!
  90. >>William starts to bleed
  91. >>His helmet falls off, rolling to the floor
  92. >>You don't stop
  93. >>You want to remember. Maybe this world IS better than the one you came from. Maybe you want to stay.
  94.
  95. But it should...
  96. >>You right hook him in the jaw
  97. Be my...
  98. >>You drive a short punch into his torso, hard enough for him to feel it through his armor
  99. Choice!
  100. >>You hiss in a deep breath before a right cross to the nose sends him to the floor hard enough to blow out the saltine circle marking the ring
  101. >>Your knuckles bleed
  102. >>Your breath is hard and heaving
  103. >>Judging by the wailing of the crowd, and the insane dancing of your manager, you've won enough bits for a year.
  104.
  105. >>That night you keep yourself occupied in Twilight's library
  106. >>“...Anon, you don't look so good. Where did you get that black eye?”
  107. And where do you get off interrogating me?
  108. >>Twilight stomps forward, less than amused
  109. >>You take a moment to calm down
  110. You're right, I'm sorry
  111. >>You are no fool. You know twilight is Celestia's right hand
  112. >>You have to be careful around her
  113. >>“What happened?”
  114. I fell down some stairs
  115. >>Twilight is so innocent, that it works
  116. >>“Want me to take a look at it?”
  117. >>You shoot her a friendly smile and then wave your hand, dismissing her concerns
  118. It's fine. I'll be fine.
  119. >>“Well... okay. The library is closing and we're heading to bed. Lock the door on your way out.”
  120. >>Her horn glows, and a cloud of arcane energy compels a lantern over to the table, illuminating the book you are reading
  121. >>You shoot her another smile
  122. Thank you. Have a good one.
  123. >>She smiles at you, clearly still concerned, before she goes upstairs to bed.
  124.
  125. Celestia... let's see you take my mind if I choose not to sleep
  126. >>“What's that, Anonymous?”
  127. Nothing. Have a good sleep.
  128.
  129. >>If she will not face you, you will force her to come to you.
