Well, first and foremost, I think that if Treebark is going to make a choice, then he should get to see what he's choosing between.
I know that the "TB makes a choice" thing isn't finalised, but it seems heavily favoured.
I know you don't like the Tarzan trope, but it's not been done by MLP before. I think it might be interesting to have a complete outsiders view of ponyville.
Also, if set entirely within the forst, I think there would be far fewer opportunities for lighthearted moments.
And I really think that spike's relationship with TB could be better developed while TB is in an entirely new place, and out of his depth. He'd be more vulnerable, and more in need of counselling
