  1. Chapter 1: Contacts (part 1)
  2.
  3. >the long wait was nearly over.
  4. >after a long long long long wait of 26 months, Scott was finally getting a phone upgrade.
  5. >It was the long awaited day he thought of since he got the one phone he had.
  6. >Time to say Goodbye to his old iPhone 4, and Hello to that flamboyant iPhone 5S!
  7. >he could hardly believe it. 64 gigs, an 8 Megapixel camera and a 4 inch diagonal retina display
  8. >elegance, entertainment and versatility, among others, would soon rest in the palm of his hand.
  9. >now, all he could do was wait a few more hours.
  10. >but these last hours would be ten fold the length of the past two years
  11. >now more than ever, he wished he had the patience his mother talked about.
  12. >but he was getting more and more restless as the clock ticked, and he could do absolutely nothing to speed it up.
  13. >It was a mix of glee and helplessness.
  14. >"just like Christmas...in October" he thought.
  15. >a void gaze in his eyes expressed his interest in the noisy classroom filled with students
  16. >The surrounding world was practically non existent
  17. >His only goal now was to endure the day at the obnoxious school
  18. >it would only be for a while anyway
  19.
  20. >on the other end of the classroom was the pink Chatterbox
  21. >going on about her own business. With everyone.
  22. >Pinkie Pie seemed to care far more for her classmates than Scott or anyone else in the room.
  23. >Igniting small talk left and right with everyone she walked across.
  24. >she really liked to see the classroom alive with joy and fellowship.
  25. >At least until the Professor said it wasn't okay
  26. >Nothing made her happier than to know everyone got along.
  27. >But on the very back was the one guy that Norman talked to from time to time
  28. >The green kid
  29. >Norman said he was cynical and mean, but Pinkie didn't think that.
  30. >She didn't think that was true at all, because she had seen him smile before
  31. >in other places, distinct occasions, with different people.
  32. >But here, He was sitting in the back near a corner.
  33. >Pinkie looked at him as she turned on her seat.
  34. >She could see his restlessness
  35. >It was weird because Norman was the only one who talked to him
  36. >Funny, because no one other than the girls and Brad ever talked to Norman.
  37. >At least the two talked with each other.
  38. "wait a second..."
  39. >She remembered that instant
  40. >Scott had two more classes in schedule with Pinkie, and he did the same thing on both classes as this one.
  41. >There was something wrong.
  42. >It just didn't add up, and she was set to find out exactly what.
  43. >and if it had to do something with Scott not smiling, she could fix that in no time.
  44.
  45. >It was only a matter of getting back home now
  46. >That technological beauty was almost in his hands, but the wait was not over yet
  47. >his steps took a faster pace and a smile was lightly sketched on his face
  48. >Scott's eyes wondered around to see the neighborhood houses dress up with skeletons and witches and other ghouls.
  49. >The half-built haunted houses began to sound their ghostly anthems
  50. >It was all looking good, but not good enough in contrast to what he had in his mind.
  51. >Scott didn't even have the phone yet and he was already wondering what to do with it first.
  52. >That's what he loved about presents the most; the joy, illusion and hope of waiting for it.
  53. "like Christmas..."
  54. >"you mean like the lights and ornaments?"
  55. "what in the-"
  56. >What, when and where in the world did the pink one come from? was what he was abaut to ask until...
  57. >"you know what I like most about Christmas?"
  58. >The green boy was still trying to answer the questions he had formulated upon the pink tornado's entry.
  59. >There was no way he knew an answer for the second question
  60. >Scott wasn't even acquainted to her.
  61. >"Presents! Not getting them, because then I feel like I owe the person who gave it to me because they had to go through..."
  62. >what the pink-puff-haired girl had to say was becoming irrelevant and heavy to bare.
  63. >He didn't care.
  64.
  65. >Scott started to feel that this wasn't going to be a short walk home any more.
  66. >It was gonna be really, really, really long.
  67. >"...so, that's why I love giving presents! Because I get to see my friends smile!"
  68. >What in the world was this girl trying to do?
  69. >"I noticed you were looking kinda gloomy, so I figured I could find out what was giving you the blues!"
  70. >at least she stated her purpose clearly now.
  71. >But Pinkie's innocent small talk was quickly turning intimate
  72. >"No need to worry Scottie, we're gonna put a big smile on your face in no time! See?"
  73. >She surprisingly appeared in front of him pushing her thumbs against his cheeks to draw a cartoonish grin on his face.
  74. >He was reaching melting point inside his head
  75. >'Scottie' wasn't the name he wanted people to address him as.
  76. >The only one allowed to say it was Mom.
  77. >Scott quickly responded by removing her hands off his face.
  78. "It's SCOTT. Got it? SCOTT. Not Scottie. Jesus, how do you even know my name?"
  79. >Pinkie just stood with a cheerful grin in front of her irritated partner.
  80. >she looked at him with the same expression for a long moment, and then replied
  81. >"you're a friend of Norman, soooo, any friend of Norman is my friend almost by default!"
  82. >He had been completely oblivious of Norman's acquaintance with the crazed-haired chick
  83. >This could be either good or bad.
  84. >Then again, with this girl there probably was no difference.
  85.
  86. >Scott continued his way back home, ignoring her in hopes that she walked away disheartened
  87. >but she didn't
  88. >"C'mon "Scott," I say there's nothing to worry about, trust me"
  89. >Pinkie jabbed her elbow on Scott's sides as they walked down the street.
  90. >he was regretting ever questioning her sources.
  91. >he could have prevented this, if only he had stayed quiet.
  92. >She would have definitely left
  93. >"I bet you and I are gonna be BEST FRIENDS IN NO TIME!!"
  94. >The walk was gonna be longer than he might have originally imagined.
  95. >"Hey, maybe you should give me your phone number! wouldn't that be cool?"
  96. "no, it wouldn't"
  97. >He was really trying to repel her, but it would require more than acting cold to scare Pinkie Pie away.
  98. >"Come on, you know you want tooo..."
  99. >Pinkie tried to persuade him once more.
  100. >This time she tried to use a bit her charms on him.
  101. >She fluttered her eyelashes and made her best shot at an adorable puppy pout face.
  102. >Scott was both impressed and annoyed at her tenacity
  103. "God, what do I have to do to make you stop following me?!"
  104. >"nothing. because I'm not following you, silly!"
  105. "yes, you are. I don't want to sound more of a prick than what I already am, but, YOU. ARE. OBNOXIOUS"
  106. >She just giggled and looked at him with the same stupid smile
  107. >"you're not 'mean' Scottie, and I'm not that obnoxious, am I?"
  108. >"I think you're just a bit of a grump, but Pinkie's gonna fix that!"
  109. >"What do you say; phone buddies-slash-contacts?"
  110. "are you going to leave me alone now?"
  111. >Scott replied before she even finished her sentence with speed and a hint of discontent in his words.
  112. >"I just might"
  113. >She replied in a teasing tone.
  114.
  115. >Scott just sighed and thought to himself "why did this have to happen to me"
  116. >he finally ceded as he hanged his head from his neck, letting out another sigh.
  117. "here, just-"
  118. >he sighed once more.
  119. "stop please."
  120. >He yielded his old iPhone 4 to Pinkie
  121. "After this, just let me go home in peace, please"
  122. >his plea made him sound as if he had been exhausted of her.
  123. >"sure..."
  124. >on the other hand her answer was indiferent
  125. >Pinkie Pie's attention had been completely set on the Scott's phone
  126. >"Hmm...you're in a real need for contacts. Wow, You don't even have Norman!"
  127. >This girl sure knew where the buttons were, and she was hitting them all with utmost impudence
  128. >Just what he needed; insult to injury.
  129. >"Okeydoke, here you go. Now we have a super special friend to text with. Eachother!"
  130. >This was going to keep her away from him at least for a while, but still.
  131. >Pinkie Pie had installed some sort of unease in Scott's head.
  132. >at least it was over for now
  133. >"Well, Scottie..."
  134. >Scott clenched his teeth when she said it.
  135. >"This is my stop, I'll see you tomorrow in school!"
  136. >She walked into a house that they were just about to pass.
  137. >He was wondering if she really lived there.
  138. >For all he knew, this girl was as predictable as weather.
  139. >He looked at his phone and the contact list to look at the newest addition to his contact's list.
  140. >the contact info had a picture of Pinkie Pie already set, and her name adorned with a variety of emoticons.
  141. >Scott stood there, looking at the screen.
  142. >Carefully cradling the phone with both hands, wondering how it all happened.
  143. >It felt weird, but good. much more than he thought possible.
  144. >This girl was very mysterious, and much more than she looked.
  145. >Now that that "adventure" had been properly taken care of, he could carry on his way home once again.
  146. >A New iPhone 5S was waiting for him at the store.
  147. >He looked in front of him to see just how far he was from home.
  148. >He was 5 blocks away from his house, and he walked them without realizing it.
  149. >'utterly stupid,' were the first words he pulled out of his mind to describe himself
  150. >but he did share the load with his new puffy haired friend.
  151. "you pink crazy... Pleb"
