Name: Streets of Darkness

Genre: Science Fiction

 

Setting: The distant future on the planet Oden. Players fight through the streets, alleys, factories, warehouses, and evil hideouts of this cyber-punk setting.

 

Back story: The orphans Rhulan and Rhoan, now teenagers have grown up witnessing how crooked the local authorities are, being under the thumb of a local crime syndicate “The Darkness”. The twins decide to head out and do something about these criminals…okay truthfully its not because of some moral high horse, but more because they both have the power and skills and are mostly bored with life at the orphanage. So what the hell, playing super-hero and taking it to the extreme of being forced to go to greater extremes as the higher ups of the syndicate see them as a bigger and bigger threat to their “business”.

 

 

Characters:

 

   Rhulan, a female martial artist and closet mystic. She has shoulder length dark red hair and dresses in a black leather combat suit.

 

    Rhoan, a male brawler with some weird dark powers. He has semi-long dark black hair, and a goatee. He dresses in black jeans, a black t-shirt, and black leather jacket.

 

Gameplay:

   The environment is pretty standard a mostly 2-D environment in which the player can move up and down  the street or floor and back and forth as well as jump, commonly seen in the 2-D beat-em ups. The two characters can pick up various items to use as weapons as well as kick, punch, jump kick and jump punch and pull of character specific special attacks.

 

    Rhulan is the faster of the two, but has weaker punches of the two, yet stronger kicks. She also possesses a special projectile move “Mystic Bolt”. The Mystic Bolt is as strong as one her kicks and travels quickly in a straight line across the screen. She has very fast special fight moves designed to hit multiple targets, but with reduced strength to single hit moves, such as a spinning kick or pole swing.

 

    Rhoan is the slower of the two; his punches have greater range than Rhulan’s as does his kicks. His punches are stronger than Rhulan’s, but has slightly weaker kicks. He has a short ranged projectile, “Dark Flame”. The Dark Flame is a large black fire ball that appears directly in front of him and does considerable damage to enemies. His special fight moves are strong and designed to aim at single targets such as a shoulder ram or hold and punch.

 

Time Line importance: This event is what attracted The Revenge Corp private security company to extend an invitation to Rhulan and Rhoan to join them. The mayor had actually intended to double cross “The Darkness” by hiring the Revenge Corp to take them out. The Darkness learned of this and mistook Rhulan and Rhoan for Revenge Corp agents, who managed to defeat the whole syndicate before the Revenge Corp showed up.
