Name: The Necrokinetic
Type: RPG (turn style)
Genre: Sci-fi / Fantasy
Setting: Takes place through out Mid-Croix (Very Europe like environment), with forests, towns, kingdoms, labyrinths, castle towers, mountains, lakes, and some very strange dimension warp spaces that have ice, fire, and desert like interiors. Those are special zones while the majority of the over world fits into the forests, mountains, and grass areas feel. There are also the floating cities, really mansions and some servant towns around them that the Croix elite created so they could have all their modern technology and conviences with out disturbing the beauty of the ground; unfortunately this also makes many nobles literally and mentally look down on those who live on the surface in Agrarian settings.
Back story:
Ethan and his childhood friends Rebecca, Janet, Zanaz, and Andria have all graduated from the New London University of Magic and Adventuring. They return to their home town to become adventurers. Zanaz and Andria become a duo team and with their high scores are off to jobs that take them to the floating cities while Ethan, Rebecca, and Janet form a team that does lower level jobs.
Starting out like this is no problem for Ethan, he became an adventurer to help is fellow man around town. Things seem okay at first until his incredibly rare power draws the attention of Baron Adonz who wants it for his own purposes. Baron Adonz isn’t their only concern as other dark powers take notice of Ethan’s and Zanaz’s growing Necrokinetic powers.
Characters:
Ethan: A brown short haird, rather typical looking swordsman adventurer. His title of the Necrokinetic Swordsman however comes from the fact he can use Necrokinesis a rare and mysterious power that draws strength from the Land of the Dead.
Rebecca the Blue Witch: A bosom woman with a mad crush on Ethan. She has blue hair, a blue witch costume, a staff with a blue orb, and uses Psionic Powers. Her skills rest in offensive magic, but she is something of a “glass cannon” as she has low physical attack and low defense.
Janet the Red Witch: Rebecca’s twin who also has a mad crush on Ethan, in place of everything blue on Rebecca, Janet has red. Janet is an expert in fire magic, and has the same issues as Rebecca in regards to being a glass cannon. These two would be interchangible except for elemental issues with enemies.
Dreia the Dryad: A green skinned gorgeous elf woman of the forests. She is the fourth member of the party, joining a short distance into the game during the first dungeon in the forest (although she does leave the party shortly after and come back a little bit later). Her powers are plant based, mostly status effect curing and creating with some vicious plant based attacks which tend to be multi-round based.
Zanaz: Ethan’s childhood rival and friend. Like Ethan he is a Necrokinetic, however instead of channeling it into sword use like Ethan, Zanaz has channeled the power into martial arts. Their frienemy relationship has caused some odd rumors to fly about them.
Andria: Zanaz’s girlfriend. She dresses in classical witch styles. She uses potions and Umbrakinesis (shadow based attacks). Her physical attack is pretty low, but her poisons, cures, enemy weaking attacks, and shadow attacks are very useful.
Haru: A wolf-girl, the last one to join the party after she falls in love with Ethan while watching him bathe in her special spring. She decides he will be her mate and joins the party specifically to make this happen. Much the jargon of the other girls after Ethan, especially as she has no problems with a harem set up and will even flirt with the other girls in her overly cute manner. Haru has the highest physical attacks, defense, and speed. Not much on spells though, although she does have sonic and holy magic based attacks.
Gameplay:
An RPG with most if not all the typical trappings of the genre. There is a hub in this game, Ethan’s home town, from which missions and quests are handed out through the Hunter’s Guild. There are various paths to the different areas which become unlocked and a map used for quick travel. There are no inns as rest comes at Ethan’s house or special save points in the areas. All the shops are in Ethan’s town or special Fairy Stores that show up in the areas.
Combat is done as a side view with the pary on the right side of the screen and enemies on the left. It is a semi-turn based combat with turns based on speed displayed in an action event bar. PCs and enemies can also use single turn, multi-turn, or charged based attacks. Single turn is self explinatory, multi-turn are moves that happen over several turns and have their own spaces on the event bar, the charged moves are attacks the characters set up on their first turn and then use on their next. Only three characters for the player can be out at a time, however they can be switched out during battle including if one is defeated, even able to use combo switch out attacks if they switch during an attack (special button activation). The characters have HP, MP, and a boost gauge (individually). When an individual character’s boost guage reaches maximum they can activate one of several super attacks they gain (the build up of the gauge carries over from one battle to the next). These moves can be enhancements or attacks. There is also the combo-boost special. When more than one character has their boost gauge full and one of them has a combo with that other character unlocked both their boost gauges can be used on one or the other’s turn to unleash it. *one of the first of these unlocked is the Saint’s Fire combo between Rebecca and Janet*
-the closest in gameplay as a comparison would be the Atlier Iris and Mana Khemia series, however with some distinct differences-
