- In the vast expanses of creation there are numerous realities, numerous worlds within those realities, and of course countless hells. One such world known simply as the Dark World has been home to those of the demon race for eons. For ages many of the more powerful demons have lived like nobility and the many classes beneath them from warriors down to beasts and the numerous legion classes have existed in military states and kingdoms.
- One such kingdom is Kainland a place that corresponds to its Earth’s southwestern United Stated from southern California to western Texas and up to the mid Nevada and down halfway through Mexico. This massive area is divided between three brothers. The east is home to Red Kain, a man with a sharp handsome face with long black hair going halfway down his back. A man whose face any woman could expect to see on the cover of a romance novel. His body is another story, while appearing muscular it is completely covered in biological looking red armor. He is a cruel man who enjoys torturing anyone who he feels is even whispering thoughts of insurgence against him. In an instant he will morph his armor into shields, spikes, and blades to carve the flesh from his enemies’ bones.
- The western region is ruled by the oldest of the three brothers, the Black Kain. He is identical to his twin brother the Red Kain, to whom he is older by only a few hours. Despite their both being centuries old the Black Kain still holds this as his right to call himself the eldest brother. Unlike his brother his armor is black and morphs into hammer and pummeling type weapons more than spikes. His shields are known to be even greater than those of his brother’s. His cruelty is even worse than that of the Red Kain as well, he views it as his right as a noble class demon to randomly torture the lower classes at his whim. He puts off revolts by having a yearly tournament in which he is the only opponent for all the contestants. He even goes so far as to say that anyone that beats him may have control over his region of Kainland should they win. Something he is known for along with his cruelty is his honesty. He believes fanatically that the right to rule goes to who ever is strongest.
- The third and youngest brother is something of an odd ball in their family. In fact his territory is an oval expansion of land between those of his brothers that takes up about most of southern Arizona in their equivalent space. His appearance is very odd, inspired by the Roman look, even though he is far too young to remember the Roman Empire, his first contact with Earth was during the 1960’s. The Green Kain is a mere ninety years old. His appearance is extremely odd compared to the other two; while he may have the same face he sports a long mustache with no hair actually under the nose, like the oily whiskers of some old sci-fi space villain. He even sports a short pointed oily looking goatee to go with his mustache. His hair is cut short and kept under a yellow and green striped Roman general’s helmet, with a green plume. He has a green Roman armored outfit and a yellow green cape. He is known for enslaving humans, as he finds even the legion classes of demons too rebellious and strong to control, especially as he is no where near as powerful as his brothers. He is so much weaker than his brothers that many of the weaker demons that resided in his region have moved past the borders into those of his brothers out of fear and need for protection from the vicious rulers to the North in the Bad Lands and the Kingdom of Webs, as they had been attacking the northern short border into the middle Kainland of Green Kain recently.
- The Green Kain has as such used those demons still loyal to him to sneak into the Earth dimension and kidnap drifters, and loan individuals who appear down and out through out the corresponding locations around Arizona. His palace is filled with human slaves, and his fields are tilled by them. He has even instituted a breeding program to make more slaves for the future as he wants to make an army of humans, for humans as weak as they are, are physically still stronger than the teleporter spies that are still loyal to him and smarter in the use of weapons than the beast and legion class demons still in his territory. As his enemies to the North are ruled by ageless demon lords who are patient beyond reasoning and thanks to his trust in his brothers’ not abiding such aggression so close to their borders he believes he will have time to raise an army of humans to at least defend his borders while his brothers send out their troops to fend off any flankers. So far these two kingdoms to the north have only sent one warrior up to a small group as though testing the defenses. All this passes through the mind time and time again of the Green Kain as he once again seeks to call upon his siblings for help.
- In his throne room with in his Middle Eastern styled palace the Green Kain stands before flat television like screen on his wall arguing with his brother the Black Kain on the other end, “brother” beseeches the Green Kain, “My northern borders were attacked yet again by the arachnids, with no sign of your reinforcements”
- With a moment of scornful expression the Black Kain spoke, “Weakling. All that attacked your small border was a group of four blade spiders. Those creatures are nothing more than giant spiders with metal half circle blades on their front legs, just in case you hadn’t seen one in your time isolated in your palace.”
- With a pause as though to keep calm he continued, “immortal human warriors have defeated those creatures in battle in other hell worlds. They are nothing more than mere animal level soldiers to the arachnid clan. They insult you brother by sending four DOGS! And yet your army barely drives them off. It doesn’t even manage to kill ONE!”
- The Black Kain opens and closes his black armor clad clawed hand making and unmaking a fist a couple of times trying to stay calm, “Now little brother, you should be able to defeat such demons. If your army is so weak then you should try to attract stronger legions to you by showing them that you are indeed powerful. And should you fall and die then by the right of power they can take your lands for all I care. In fact it is obvious they intend to gather your resources and perhaps use your kingdom’s position to wedge between our brother and I’s lands. Heh, don’t worry I will crush them my self should they kill you and take your land.”
- With that his hand transforms into a large sledge hammer shape and he swings his arm showing off the ease at which he can move such a large weapon, “So don’t worry little brother, I will avenge your death, heh!”
- With that the screen went black and the Green Kain stood furious, with a wave of his arm his fingers transformed into green tendrils and he entangled a nearby human slave and crushed them making the poor man’s eyes pop out and bloody foam spew from his mouth like tooth paste from a tube. He changed his hand back to normal and let the body flop to the floor which was quickly cleared away by two horrified human maids.
- “Very well.” He hisses, “My brothers are a lost cause, if I am forced to fight….” He stops and looks at the blood being cleaned up by the maids; they turn white as sheets when they notice him looking their way. He turns his dialogue internal, “humans, even they would abandon me if they learned of the more prosperous lands just to the east and west and that I alone am the only one strong enough to keep even them here. I must enforce my control and it seems I will have to fight. How unseemly for a noble to do the job of a soldier. My brothers are barbarians; I should have their lands for myself.”
- The Green Kain retired from the throne room to his medieval styles bed chamber. “My enemies are many.” He said to a picture of his mother the Queen of Carrion who had left him and his brothers this land as one of her many providences. She was a beautiful woman with grey hair done up in a bun and wearing a wedding dress with knives for a trim and knife ear rings.
- He picks up the photo of her in its silver frame and says, “At least you do not know how great a failure I have been mother. If nothing else I am still able to send your empire the crops my slaves produce and make this land profitable, however my barbarian brothers only demand power and raise armies from not only their own demons but those who fled my land for fear of the Queen of the Arachnids and the Queen of Thorns who send their monsters to mock me and slay the few field workers I can spare to try and fend them off. I am a disgrace to our family’s lineage of powerful warriors even if I have kept our grace and sense of style greater than my brothers.” The Green Kain laid his helmet down and flopped down on his bed going to sleep.
- Long ago when the Queen of Carrion had given her three sons the province of Eternal Darkness, a name she had given the area, they quickly divided up the land between them and renamed it the Kainlands. Their mother had warned them against disturbing too much of this land. She had told them a story that her own mother had been a soldier for a mighty king known as Rhoan who was a vassal of the many titled and named being known to them as the Empress of the Eternal Night. This vassal of the goddess who ruled their world had according to the story created a vast labyrinth beneath the ground and created a tomb for himself to sleep in at the bottom so he would not be disturbed there. The entrance to this labyrinth was a small black gateway built into the side of stone in the middle of the desert, disguised so it couldn’t easily be found and Rhoan’s sleep disturbed.
- The Green Kain he had by some twisted trick of fate gotten the right area and managed to build his palace directly atop this labyrinth. The black stone doorway was blocked up about three feet in and turned into a closet, as the workers were unable to cut the stone and feared the things that live in the old elder ruins.
- Deep with in the bowels of this labyrinth with its twisting corridors and spiral stair cases that twine around pillars with no walls into the blackness only to lead into thin corridors lie many monsters with great power. Monsters who had until recently slept in the walls of the abyss. Now the floating black needled labyrinth urchins have begun to roam the halls once again as have the vast armies of black skeletons that had rested in their stone coffins. These monsters stir as their master’s long sealed chamber stirs. For once more the Dark World will know the name of Rhoan.
