The Awakening ch.05

     For millennia the soul of Litmet had resided within a new body, the Black Rose. And for all this time she has been the Black Rose, and with the powers of a vampire like flower maiden. Pretending to be just another of her daughter creations with the green, blue, red, and white roses. Each who rule over their own elemental mountain in a fantasy like world, in this place Litmet was able to pass as the Black Rose and gain a reputation amongst the immortals as a powerful assassin, thief, and caretaker over the Black Mountain in Litmet’s absence, even taking up residence within Litmet’s castle which floats atop its highest peak. However the adventures of the Black Rose over the 8000 years amongst her daughters, vampires, and other monsters are all stories unto themselves. This day Litmet would be born once more.

 

     In the dark dome the body of Litmet can smell a third victim waiting for her outside the dark space, it is a creature nothing more, a creature with the intelligence of an insect and the vicious nature to match; a mindless beast, with the powers of a god. Ahm is completely unaware of this fact, fortunately for the world outside the Black Rose is not. In her swanky penthouse in Las Angelus which she owns thanks to her money hoardings from her days during the gold rush and later as a thief taking advantage of the mobs she stands as she sensed her body awakened. In her large room with her female lover, Ananth in her human guise, the Black Rose watches through the sea of darkness between the plains of reality in her mind, watches her body awaken and feed. She can not allow a soulless god to walk the earth. With her body’s awakening Ahm’s barrier has collapsed and she is free to travel there, with a wave of her hand she opens a vortex of shadows. After blowing a kiss to Ananth she jumps through and appears standing before the snarling beast of her former self.

 

   One would expect a stand off, some grand world shattering battle, but when a body stands before its own soul regardless of that body’s power, or the limitations of the soul’s current host, the body is still powerless. A mere glance, eyes to eyes, and the soul exchanges one body for another. Litmet is whole once more, the goddess of destruction no longer resides in the body of a vampiric mercenary, even one as powerful as a flower maiden. No Litmet is once more a goddess. She looks down through her old eyes at the still form of the Black Rose lying as still as a statue on the ground, with a smirk she leans down and a stream of blue spiritual energy slips past her fangs and into the lips of the Black Rose.

 

    In the body of the Black Rose something long buried is waking up, with memories, like those of a soul trapped in its own body watching someone else control them. Like a dream that lasted for thousands of years.

 

     The new Black Rose stands to her feet; she looks at the fearsome visage of Litmet for a moment and says, “So, you finally decided to give birth to me. Well that was one hell of a long gestation, guess you couldn’t resist giving this form a multi-millennia long test drive first…mother.”

 

     She lifts her arms and checks herself out doing a short seductive dance, “yep you couldn’t resist, after all this is one hell of a hot body, well I’ve got things to do and stuff to steal, later mum.”

 

     The Black Rose opens a portal with a wave of her hand, but before she goes through she turns and says, “Oh and by the way, don’t worry no one will ever know you and me were the same person all this time, plus you suck as a thief. I’ve got some ideas I’ve been wanting to try and when I’m done I’ll make all that time you spent as me look sad and pathetic. Get ready for the new Black Rose the queen of thieves.”

 

    With a wave and blowing a kiss she vanishes into the portal with a giggle.  

 

    “hmmm” thinks Litmet, “my experience and the personality of a Suihrai just born; this Black Rose should prove very interesting.”

 

    Litmet’s attention goes back to the one waiting outside, “well back to this little farce.” She says through a toothy smile as she heads to the opening.

 

    The lone figure of the robed Danagan stands out side the entrance to the dome.

 

    “She is on her way out,” he thinks, “she certainly didn’t waste any time killing those two. This cat demon still has her killing instinct after all this time.”

 

     Litmet stands in the anti-chamber looking at the disturbed pile of tablets and scoffs at Ahm’s idea of security. Litmet has over heard Danagan’s thoughts “Danagan,” she thinks to herself, “So that’s who led these mortals here. That fool, he still thinks I am a mere cat demon. It seems that all this time has passed and he is still an imbecile.”

 

    Litmet walks out side to the waiting Danagan who turns to face her,

 

“Litmet” he says,   “welcome to the modern world.”

 

    She looks around saying, “Still looks the same to me.”

 

    “This area is un-inhabited,” Danagan responds, “but things have changed. Humans have advanced in their metal workings so to speak; they have what they now call machines.”

 

    “I know what machines are” Litmet thinks smiling to her self internally.

 

   Danagan continues unaware of Litmet’s thoughts, “That’s not all. This part of the world has been abandoned by the gods. One such as yourself could have all sorts of fun here and not incur the wrath of any god to try and stop you.”

 

    “We shall see about that.” Litmet says as she prepares to fly away.

 

    She flies off into the air with a great burst of wind even before she begins flapping her wings mid-way up into the sky.

 

    Danagan watches as she flies away thinking, “With this cat creature thinking she is a goddess out causing havoc humanity shall learn to fear the

gods once more.”

 

    Shortly after leaving the dome Litmet could be seen against the back drop of the night sky flying towards the closest source of energy she could sense. A string of lights on the horizon causes Litmet to stop in mid-air, a small desert town, and Litmet can feel the great hunger with in her from her body’s great sleep.

 

    That Night a horrible sight could be seen in the desert as Litmet set a small defenseless town ablaze. She left not one man, woman, or child alive; feasting on them all as one would pieces of fruit. The men of the village tried to fight her off with their guns, but to no avail as their bullets didn’t even phase this rampaging force. With bolts of lightning from her mouth she laid waste to the defenders and those they would defend. After feasting on the life energy of the villagers she turned to their livestock and then to the electric generators even, sparing not a single source of energy in the small town.

 

     Through out the day Litmet rested in the ruins of the town she herself had destroyed. Only once through out the day awakening before night fall to turn invisible, as several humans in green uniforms riding in large wheeled machines had been going through the ruins as though searching for something. As she was still full from the night before she had no need for these few puny humans, so she let them be. That night she flew into the night landing on a rocky out cropping just outside the town she had been sleeping in. There she stood watching the star filled night sky, feeling the world around her.

 

    “Nothing” she thought, “No gods, no goddesses, no one is awake in this place. Some of them are far to the north, far to the east, south, and west; but not here. Not for a long stretch of land, at least the entire desert lands. This place seems to be for the most part un-inhabited by the gods. Danagan was right the gods have abandoned this land.”

 

    She had lived so long in the centers of human trade where the old gods and demons had also followed she had not imagined that this place, the cradle of civilizations would be so devoid of the old gods. The next night she attacked a caravan, camels and all; then the night after that she attacked a small shanty style town of nomads.

 

     To Ahm’s astonishment when he arrived almost a week later at the dome he felt no sign of Litmet, aside from a few destroyed towns and caravans she stopped her rampage short of what he had expected. He couldn’t even sense her power anymore, as though she somehow knew how to hide it now, deeply confusing and troubling Ahm. Danagan was equally troubled as Litmet had not done as much as he had expected and he had no clue as to where she had vanished to. They both expected more to come soon, but it was for not. Litmet had returned to L.A. and introduced her lover to the pleasures of her old form’s human guise and her true body’s power.

 

    The new Black Rose made it seem as though she had moved her base of operations to India and China. In this time Ahm discovered that Litmet had usurped the Black Rose’s place in her criminal empire and seemed to have an intimate knowledge immediately of its operations. For thirty years Litmet had simply taken up the reigns of the Black Rose’s empire, as much as this confused Ahm he was in a sense relieved by it, the same of course could not be said of Danagan who remained infuriated by this twist of fate.
