Invasion of the Kaiju

     Why are we still using fossil fuels? With all our advancements we are still burning the millions of years old remains of ancient forests, we might as well be tossing wood ovens.

 

   Coal? Same deal as fossil fuels folks, with even more pollution?

 

  Is it really worth all the strife and being on the brink of a new world war just to obtain these fuels?

 

  What about wind power, solar power, and hydroelectric dams you may ask; well what if there is no wind, no sun, and no rivers large enough to dam up? Not to mention that these have a considerably limited range as electricity is notoriously difficult to store and has to be on a constant move, we can’t power cities with alkaline or lithium unfortunately. Nuclear power you say? We’ve been hearing on the news a lot about a resurgence of this haven’t we? Bills being proposed in congress, about how safe it is, well what if I told you all this really amounts to is heating water to turn turbines with steam…not so impressive now is it?

   What we need is a power source for the future, here in the future. In a world with nearly fireproof materials, robots and mech-suits being used in warfare, water proof materials, and plastics that heal and even conduct electricity, among out many technological marvels we need to get our heads out of the 19th and 20th centuries for power and look to the future, to a better power source, a limitless power source, a none polluting power source.

 

  Now where is this supposed magical power source you ask? Right here?

  This my friends has enough power in it to power Manhattan for five days with all the lights, televisions, and ovens turned on the whole time. Yet it’s safe to hold, wont shock you even when hooked up to its power extractor, and can be stored indefinitely, this my friends is what we here at DBC a subsidiary of Oblivion co, are all about, literally, this is the D-battery, or Dimension Battery. Yes we here at DBC have unlocked the potential of dimensions, not just buzz words in science fiction, or little trivia tidbits to wow your co-workers, we have found a fully practical use for this knowledge and it…will change the world.

    Change the world it did, D-batteries quickly became the number one energy source for the United States of America, followed quickly by Japan, The United Kingdom, China, and then most of the rest of the world. Harvesting the D-energy is a complex method requiring plants placed at key “thin points” to draw energy from across dimensions. Not all was perfect as a waste byproduct was produced during the process, two substances known as the Grey Sludge and Dimension Mist. These substances were feared to be a dangerous pollutant, a fear quickly swept away upon the reveal that these substances derived from exposure to the D-energy by water cooling the towers change back into water when exposed to salt water. However they would admit the substance is dangerous like any byproduct of a chemical and energy reaction would be until then and would thus be shipped off to disposal/recycling sites rather than say be dumped into the ocean, controlled recycling.

 

   Around the same time that these plants opened strange creatures started to emerge around the world, these so called “Kaiju” and mutant beasts seemed drawn to the plants and D-batteries themselves. Many accused the plants and possibly their closely guarded byproducts of creating these aberrations. The DBC was quick to point out that at least five of the Kaiju appeared prior to the D-battery being invented (or at least publically acknowledged as conspiracy theorists would put it); the giant turtle that attacked New York city (Arcollossus), the creature that was created by studying Arcollossus cells (Phoemoebas), the monster that evolved from a surviving Phoemoebas sample (Polymoebial), the monster that emerged in the ocean thanks to discarded Phoemoebas samples (Sharkalypse), and the fiery monster that emerged from Honolulu’s volcano to attack Sharkalypse when it made land fall there the female dragon-bird-humanoid creature named (Pele) after the volcano goddess.

 

   It would be easy to point out that most of those were the result of studying one Kaiju, but its origin and that of Pele are total mysteries. In the years that have come several attempted law suits have pointed out that several mutations have appeared near recycling facilities, including one confession by an eco-terrorist group in Georgia claiming they shot holes in a Grey Sludge truck and they believe that is where the Nightmare Worms came from that devastated a small town and filled a dozen people, and have remained a constant threat since then. The trucks were revealed to have thicker hulls than a rifle could pierce, although its believed by conspiracy theorists that they did that AFTER the incident. Then there were the three instances of the Walking Sharks, Great White sharks with legs and in the last instance with wings as well that appeared off Florida, Portugal, and Spain near three recycling facilities for Grey Sludge.

 

    A few other smaller Kaiju would make appearances, but the real news head liners were The Colossal Alligator Man in northern Florida, Black Tyrant in Nevada, William the Dinosaur in Arizona, Triterratops in Mexico, and Empress Scorpio in Namibia. All of which attacked DBC production plants as well as various ranches, towns, villages, and other possible sources for food and energy. The DBC would institute defensive programs for themselves and to aid local militaries in dealing with these emerging monsters.  The human like appearance of Empress Scorpio’s torso, as well as that of Pele and Polymoebial has caused some religious fervor around the world as well as the odd intelligence of some of these new Kaiju.

 

   Some speculate, conspiracy theorists, that the new Kaiju are human mutations, just as there had been animal mutations. This conspiracy theory was shot down by DBC scientists.  In official reports the situation doesn’t look as grave as media ratings mongers would like the public to think.

 

   The Colossal Alligator man, a humanoid alligator standing about twenty five feet tall was killed by the US military with DBC defense assistance. The body was taken to an undisclosed location.

 

   William the Dinosaur, a giant T-rex like creature (fifty feet long, twenty feet high) with a semi-cartoon like appearance with is violet colored skin, fat tail, longer than normal arms with three fingers and a thumb, rounded muzzle with exaggerated half circle nostrils, and expressive eyes. Despite its fire breath and impressive strength and cunning this was killed by US military forces with DBC defense assistance, with the body taken to an undisclosed location.

 

   Black Tyrant, a fearsome monster, like a cross between a dragon and a T-rex. The over all body shape would be like that of a T-rex that is black in color with silver tiger stripes. Longer than normal and muscular arms, although still short with three claws on each hand. The tail was long with a metal Chinese dragon like blade around the end. It had ribbed wings on its back. The creature’s oddest feature was the black metal plate over the top of its head covering most of the muzzle and around the glowing red eyes. It had a metallic blade on the nose, shark fin in shape with an obvious metal blade edge and three holes in it. It also sported on the back of its head two backwards aimed horns reminiscent of the antlers of a Chinese dragon, except these were metal and could spin. This monster could spit black fire, shoot a blue plasma beam from the nose blade, and spinning dark energy from the horns. It could also glow with a blue defensive aura. Due to its somewhat mechanical features it was thought this a Kaiju-cyborg created by some country or another testing such a thing as a weapon. Upon being killed by the US military with DBC defensive assistance it was discovered to be fully organic, which was a bit of a surprise.

 

   These successes may have made the world a bit too easy going, these and the smaller animal ones have either been killed, controlled, or contained for study. However, Arcollossus is listed as location unknown as it vanished back into the wide open seas, Polymoebial is still at the bottom of a lake in Central Park, but seems content to lay dormant so long as nothing bothers it, legal battles issued on what to do are common; but held that like Pele which seems to just rest in its volcano passively feeding on the lava Polymoebial could just rest where it is, and over time become a mere legend as well.

 

    Triterratops and Empress Scorpio however have proven difficult to fight against with far more impressive durability and strength than most Kaiju, possibly on par with Arcollossus and Pele. More smaller Kaiju would appear, and more D-battery plants would arise. Most mutations easily handled out of sight of the public as over the years governments have learned be clever about them. Then it happened The United Kingdom plant was hit by a three hundred foot tall dragon man that would be named “Destructice”, it flew over the North Pole making a bee line for Japan. There yet another new Kaiju appeared Shogonna a giant female dragon woman in armor which fought Destructice off. If this wasn’t surreal enough an expedition by the DBC for a thin point in Anarctica may have awakened another armored female Kaiju from beneath the ice Nox-era, as if sensing these two were awake China saw the appearance of a golden sister they named Nuwa-Gara. These four new gargantuan Kaiju have proven immune to all military attacks against them. Which is a problem as they seem to love destruction, although Shogonna has mostly behaved defensively she has a tendency like an old movie to go after and drain all the radiation from Nuclear Power Plants and DBC plants. Nuwa-Gara and Nox-era have done the same, Nuwa-Gara also destroyed the Three Gorges dam *possibly by accident while swimming in the lake behind it*, which is no consolidation for the loss of lives caused by the flooding. Nox-era in a most curious action also seems to attack ice and snow, going after mountain tops, icebergs, and targeting glaciers.

 

   As if this wasn’t all bad enough a new giant female like Kaiju called uncreativly the Queen Bee has emerged from the jungles of South America, apparently awoken somehow by the approach of Triterratops as it made its way south, yet didn’t react to Arcollossus years earlier juggernauting its way through the Panama canal. Unlike the other giant female Kaiju (aside from Arcollossus) this one does not have a humanoid face but rather a humanoid body with a distinctly insect like head.

  It would be easy to say that between the giant Kaiju, far more numerous smaller Kaiju, the world has gone nuts. The DBC however claims they have some secret weapons for dealing with the Kaiju.
