Out side of the church Peter and Samantha have just pulled up. Samantha notices that the space between the church porch and the edge of the ridge can barely fit this one truck, “That must be why we could only bring one vehicle along.” thought Samantha.
As Samantha exits the truck she see a strange blue haze out the corner of her eye coming from across the road, she turns her head in its direction but while looking directly at it the haze vanishes. Peter sees Samantha looking off in the distance with a quizzical look on her face, “What are you looking at?” he asks.
“Just lightning.” She says while thinking to her self, “What was that blue haze?”
As they walk inside they don’t notice a strange blue flash on the ground as Samantha walks up on to the porch.
Samantha can’t believe how old this church looks as Peter leads her through the small lobby and past the chapel and to the stairs. In the room upstairs Peter introduces Samantha to Father Henry and Paul. “Okay his brother and grandfather,” thinks Samantha, “and that Mike guy is also here, this is weird.”
She turns and asks Peter, “You said there was another attack right?”
“Yes of course right this way.” He leads her into a small room off from the main room where she sees the two people she met before; Jeff Jones and Nick Jones, except Jeff Jones is lying in the bed asleep and Nick is sitting in a chair apparently in shock staring at the floor. She notices that Jeff has a burn on his face and Nick’s hands are missing and also burned much like the arm of the man she had seen in the Brooksville Hospital.
Samantha turns to Peter and asks, “What happened?”
“They were attacked just like Mr. Stevens the man you met before at the hospital.”
“Well that’s obvious” she thinks with a roll of the eyes. Just then a vivid image of a humanoid fox six or seven feet tall holding Nick against a wall and chopping off his hands and then turning back to human form and burning Jeff’s face comes to her mind.
“Versa” she thinks as she quickly shakes her head to get rid of the image.
Peter sees her shake her head and erroneously assuming her reason is disgust says, “Terrible isn’t it?”
“Where did this happen?” she asks.
To her utter surprise he says, “In their house, earlier this night in fact.”
She can’t believe she had actually just pictured the attack in the same place it had actually happened.
Peter continues, “I don’t think the neighbors saw anything being far away from each other and a stormy night to boot. I was already on my way there and found them like this, and Mr. King here showed up shortly after.”
He gestured to Mike King sitting near by in the main room in a folding chair.
They leave Nick and Jeff in the room and go back into the main upstairs room. Samantha sees the same blue haze as before from the corner of her eye, however this time when she looks straight on through the window the haze doesn’t go away. She walks closer to the window while Mike and Peter are talking to each other and focuses on the haze. Surprisingly she can see right through the rain and zoom in across the street as though she were wearing binoculars. As she looks she can discern four separate blue hazes and as she is looking two of the hazes appear bigger while the other two look smaller. One big haze becomes a darker blue and one becomes red, while one smaller one also becomes darker blue and another small one also becomes red. As she continues to try and focus the two larger hazes start to become humanoid in shape and the two smaller ones dog like in shape.
Suddenly she loses sight of them and can only see the rain covered window as Peter interrupts her focus, “What are you looking at?”
Samantha rubs her eyes and says, “Nothing my eyes are just bugging me from all the rain.”
