What did he?” The words stumble out of your mouth, unable to fully grasp the situation >Aryanne gasps in pain trying to climb onto all fours again >Red Hat utters unintelligible words, walking forward as if to provide assistance, but steps back >”Nein!, Nein.” She insists >Red Hat nods and stands back briefly >Adjacent to the operating table where Friedrich stood, you catch eye of your papers, schematics, all of your things were exactly how you left them on the naval ship, amazed that it remains in perfect condition. Nevertheless, you don’t promise that the Nazi’s hadn’t performed a thorough search of your baggage before clearing out the offices onboard >Your stomach turns from the thought >Obediently, Red Hat dismisses himself from the lab, closing the door behind him >Aryanne is on the floor still, breathing heavily >Your natural willingness to help brings you forward, you reach for her hoof, but she fidgets. >“Don’t touch me!” >You snap your hoof back >”I am alright” >”Just. I, need a moment.” >You wait patiently for any reaction, but she simply sits there as she calms her racing heart, you exhale and remove your wooly jacket >Your briefcase, files and backpack all lay on the desk in the corner >The rising sun casts a bright sheen through the curved, overhead window panes, glazing all in an orange haze >Both times have you entered an enormous building, only to find a small laboratory, curiosity grabs you, in any case then, the murky corridor must lead to other rooms in the building >The walls are crowded with hanging vials, tubes, coils and various other pieces >Several desks scatter the room, on them, you see electrolysis apparatus, and a machine with a small radio beside, like nothing you’ve seen, above hang papers with drawings that resemble atomic structures, with doodles and equations around the outside. >On the far left in front of a window pane sits a green tinted blackboard covered with theoretical equations regarding the radioactive properties of drawings you cannot identify, adjacent you see Aryanne’s desk, clearly marked by the clutter and papers surrounding the work space >On the floor you spot the Frankenstein’s Monster of a weapon the mare previously threatened you with, in pieces, broken glass surrounds it, Friedrich must have tossed it to the ground in frustration before leaving the room >You place your coat on the chair >”Your work is very impressive” Says Aryanne, breaking the long silence. She lifts her head a little ”I’ll take it” You scoff. >She pauses ”I read your studies on cellular mutation and radio-energy equivalence, I wasn’t aware you were so well read in nuclear physics” >Both of you are on far sides of the room “I’m no expert, but it fascinates me, as the saying goes, physics is the mother of all sciences” You say >You no longer have the energy to stay mad at her and her fellow operatives for digging through your papers without permission, you remove more papers from your file >”But I still feel I am in no position to help you” You add >Aryanne sighs “If you do not help us, Friedrich will kill you, you understand that, ja? “I don’t have time for that bastard, you cured me remember? and besides, you said it yourself, I’m far too admirable” You humour her >Aryanne avoided eye contact with you, and instead, inspected the weapon with her hoof. “Don’t be so foolish, your American blood will not save you, his love for the Reich is far far greater, it would be a great loss for him, no doubt, but he will shoot you dead if you downright refuse” >”Friedrich told me something before he stormed out” She brushes the long hair from her face “And that was?” >Friedrich grows tired from my experimental failures, he was going to use my cure to threaten you “Blackmail, oldest trick there is” >”Friedrich is exceedingly good at threatening everyone around him, he will continue like this until Deutschland reigns supreme” “And for how much longer?” You raise your voice “Now I’m stuck here, what made any of you think that kidnapping a scientist was the best way to go about helping yourselves?” >”Because Dahl was right, we are few, and I cannot continue my studies by myself” Says Aryanne, she stands, picking up the contraption from the floor, she sets it on the table and brushes off her lab coat “Tell me, Aryanne, what are your little ‘Wunder Initiative’ of 3 scientists and dozens of soldiers going to do to win over the planet? Everyone, is dead.” You say. >Aryanne trots surprisingly close to you and begins dragging your table up next to hers, she takes the blackboard and flips it round, cleaning off the markings with an old cloth, she points to her chair. “What are you doing?” >”Sit” >Not wanting another useless argument, you obey her command and take a seat in front of the board >Aryanne picks up one of the used chalks and draws two large circles on the board >”What do these look like to you Mr American?” “Anonymous” >She ignores your attempt to correct her ”Atoms” >She nods “In the wake of twentieth century, my Father became good friends with many Russisch politician, conducted many experiments with the Motherland, became involved with experimental nuclear physics” As she speaks, she adds electrons, protons and neutrons to the illustration, revealing two differing elements >Aryanne continues. ”LichtenDittmar and the Motherland pioneered the research of nuclear fission” >”Und nuclear fusion” She says with childlike wonder >You lean forward “Interesting, but not feasible by any physical means” >Aryanne became so engrossed in her explanation she hadn’t realised you interrupted, she stops chalking >”These stubborn Americans…” She murmurs “Come again?” >Aryanne merely frowns
