- Be Nolan North.
- >Amy comes back from her phone call.
- >Oddly enough it isn’t half as impressive or long as last time.
- >“Parents are warned and, although they are still not too happy about me dating you, they promised me that they won’t worry as long as I give sign of life everyday.”
- >You don’t know how, but her parents know something… How much is a mystery and it caused some trouble with your relationship.
- >You suppose it is logical for parents to be worried about their little girl mixing with a notorious gang.
- >“Please, Nolan don’t look so depressed…”
- “Sorry Amy… It’s just… You know… What if they are right? I’ll never forgive myself if anything happens to you by my fault…”
- >“I know… But I also know that you’ll protect me.”
- “I suppose talking about it won’t help. How about eating something? I am kind of hungry.”
- >“Sounds good to me! But what do you propose? It’s not like I can eat a lot of things in my current state…”
- “Mmh true enough… Soup maybe?”
- >“Even a degustation glass would be more than enough… I might drown in the bowl! Hell, you could strangle me with pasta!”
- “Death by spaghetti? What a terrible way to go…”
- >The two of you share a chuckle.
- >“Now I’m wondering… Do you think Rarity could make a dress out of lettuce?”
- “I’ve heard Norman saying that she once made a skirt out of candy wrappings for Pinkie Pie. Stay here, I’ll go ask the cook for something that wouldn’t be problematic for you. Be right back.”
- >“Alrighty then… Man, having a chef at home must be nice… Say, do you have some candy wrapping around? I bet I can make a hat!”
- “Hehe, no, sorry, besides, I don’t want your pretty hair to be all sticky. Feel free to explore the room.”
- >When you reach the main hall you spot Timothy half hidden in the shadows.
- >“So, boss? What did she want?”
- “Nothing you should concern yourself about. A question about some math homework.”
- >“… I see… Strange though… I was certain I heard her voice… quite clearly…”
- “My phone was on speaker mode…”
- >“… Okay boss… Are you going to the kitchen?”
- “Yes… Have you eaten yet?”
- >“Yeah… There is a match I want to see on the TV. Good evening boss.”
- >That smile… Is he planning something?
- >You almost run up the stairs with the tray the chef gave you, your sixth sense nibbling at your reasoning capacity.
- >Once you reach the door to your room, you take a second to let you heart recover a normal rate before opening.
- “I’m back.”
- >“Nolan! Thanks goodness! Help!”
- >Crisis mode engaged.
- >You put the tray on the closest surface and scan the room.
- “Amy! Where are you?”
- >“Up here!”
- >Bookcase, half height.
- “What’s wrong? What are you doing there?”
- >“Behind you!”
- >You spin and take you knife out.
- >Nothing…
- >“At your feet!”
- >A spider.
- >A big one.
- >But still.
- >Crisis mode disengaged. Knife hidden away.
- “Really, Amy?”
- >“You aren’t 15 centimeter tall!”
- >You crush the 8-legged intruder under your shoe.
- >“Eww, there are spider bits on the carpet… You could have just thrown it outside…”
- “… Welp. Too late. Let me help you get down.”
- >You walk to the bookcase and let her climb on your arm to reach your shoulder where she sits.
- >“Sorry about my freak out… She walked out from under your bed and it surprised me… I think I beat my record at climbing… Buffed Clitoris Shorts Coach would be proud…”
- “Are you trying to cut my appetite? Cuz’ you’re off to a great start by mentioning our PE Teacher.”
- >“My apologies… You might want to grab that plate; it’s not on a very stable position.”
- >Luck is on your side, if you had put it one inch further in any other direction it would be on the ground as we speak.
- >You sit on your bed with your guest, the trail on your lap and Amy sitting cross legged next to the bowl.
- >“Now that I think of it, shrinking entire populations would solve world hunger…”
- “And cause a lot more problems of infrastructure. Maybe it would be easier to reverse the machine and make food bigger…”
- >“Note that down, with such ideas we could be world-wide heroes.”
- “I didn’t see you as such an ambitious person.”
- >She stops eating and looks and looks in the distance.
- >“In literature class, teacher said that there was a difference between dreams and ambitions, what do you think?”
- “Is there? I mean, dreams are by definition something not real, however, dreams and ambitions can come true… I need a dictionary…”
- >“What are your ambitions Nol’?”
- “Hehe, we talked about this once already haven’t we? I just want this year to be as normal as possible, but it seems fate doesn’t want any of this…”
- >“I know about your desire for this year, but what about… after?”
- >You pause.
- “I don’t know. The Saints are counting on me. My parents as well. We’ve done much good for this town. The Code made sure we wouldn’t be branded as criminals; however, we aren’t a charity work… I don’t know…”
- >“I want to sing and to make music for everyone, I want the people who will listen to me to dance, to dream, to share the feelings I put in my songs, but I would love to have you next to me when I’ll do it.”
- “I would love to listen to you all day long. And I’ll do all I can to see this dream come true.”
- >“But will you stand next to me when the day will come? Or will you be here? Ruling town…”
- >She extends her arm towards you…
- >You lift yours.
- >And pat her head.
- “Get off the plate, I want to put it away.”
- >She complies without a word.
- >There is no smile on her face.
