  1. >You feel nothing as the white covers your vision, and it seems all your thoughts seem to drain from you into the endless void.
  2. >Was this what dying felt like?
  3. >The white begins to recede from the edges of your vision, and you become aware, with more independent thoughts of your own flowing through your mind.
  4. >There is a loud beeping, and a feeling of weightlessness, prompting you to open your eyes up.
  5. >You quickly wish you did not open your eyes.
  6. >Through the camera of the scorpion tank, you see nothing but blue sky in front of you, explaining the sensation of falling quite handily.
  7. >You start breathing heavily, the stress of the situation starting to get to you.
  8. >How the hell did you get up here? Brimstone air strikes don’t launch people hundreds of meters into the air.
  9. >Grim curiosity takes over you, you wonder where you are to become a strain on the ground, you aim the camera towards the ground.
  10. >Below you, you see a large castle, coloured a beautiful white, hanging out from the side of the cliff, and looming ever closer to the camera as you speed towards it like an anvil.
  11. >What the fuck?
  12. >You sighed, and try to concentrate, past the stress.
  13. >Come on, Anon, this isn’t too different from dropping directly in a hardsuit, you’ve done that plenty of times before!
  14. >Except for the fact this probably wasn’t made for being dropped from great heights.
  15. >Shut up, brain.
  16. >You slam into stone of the castle, the scorpion tank going right through the ceiling like paper, and into the castle below.
  17. >You hear a female scream from somewhere in the room, and less than a second later you slam into the floor, going right through it as you did the ceiling.
  18. >Below you, you see another floor, this one full of colourful shapes mulling around below.
  19. >Apparently they spot you before you impact the second floor, likely looking up due to the earlier scream, as a chorus of rather girlish yells resounds from the group below.
  20. >The horde of warm bodies below scatterers, or at least attempts to, pushing past each other as you loom ever closer to them, a good third of them, defying all logic, take to the air in order to get away from the mass of metal coming from the sky.
  21. >You grit your teeth as you crash through the second floor, the tank barely slowing from the impact.
  22. >Unfortunately, rubble from the second impact clouded the camera of the tank.
  23. >However, judging by the lack of squishing noises, it appears that the group of whatever those things were managed to get out of the way of the scorpion.
  24. >You make the camera of the tank back and forth, clearing the rubble from the lens.
  25. >Beyond it you see nothing, except the faraway target of the ground below.
  26. >It appears that you have managed to go through the entire castle, and straight out the other side.
  27. >Over another large drop only this time with a cliff face beside you, with what looks like the cliff smoothing out near the bottom.
  28. >Fuck, only a few feet from safety.
  29. >Don't panic, Anon, you made it through that castle, hell, you beat the shit out of that castle. Are you going to let a little thing like falling kill one of the Dogs of War?
  30. >Hey brain?
  31. >Yeah, Anon?
  32. >Sorry about telling you to shut it earlier.
  33. >No problem, buddy.
  34. >You move the camera around, looking for anything you would be able to divert the scorpion tank into.
  35. >Seeing nothing, you sigh, and prepare to brace for impact once again, before realizing something.
  36. >The tank was only a few feet away from the wall of the cliff, right?
  37. >This plan may only have a small chance of success, but it was worth trying.
  38. >You will the legs to fully extend from the scorpion, towards the cliff face.
  39. >You take care to make sure the legs extend too far, and propel you off the smooth stone, and thus ensure your doom.
  40. >As you near the bottom, you make sure one last time that everything was in place.
  41. >Legs extended? Check. Back legs slightly farther out than the front legs? Check. Turning off the brakes on the small wheels under the feet of the tank? Che- Wait.
  42. >You direct those to unlock, saving you from the awkward moment your failed plan gave even less hope of survival.
  43. >Readiness to bail the hell out of this Scorpion the very second it is possible?
  44. >Fucking check.
  45. >First, the wheels of the back legs make contact with the smooth rocky face, as the stone starts to jut out more.
  46. >A split second later, the front wheels come in contact with the stone face, carrying you forwards with the slight curve of the wall, as it approached the bottom.
  47. >You speed down the face, the curve leading up to what you are aiming for, the rounded base of the cliff.
  48. >You close your eyes once more, you couldn't look.
  49. >Everything around you spins, and a metallic taste floods your tongue, as your impromptu ramp shifts your momentum from downwards to forwards. At roughly the same moment, you realize the only reason you have not vomited in your suit yet is due to the fact that the speed that you were going at probably forced it back down.
  50. >Now, it felt as if you were simply sliding across some flat, slightly bumpy ground.
  51. >You did it, you well and truly did it! You survived the colossal drop without being wounded.
  52. >You gather your courage, and open your eyes, to see what was awaiting you on the outside of the metal shell.
  53. >And to your great joy, you see a large boulder coming towards you and your tank.
  54. >Hello boulder! Good day to be alive, is it not?
  55. >Wait a second...
  56. >Realization dawns on you, and your eyes go wide.
  57. >You kick behind you, trying to quickly find and press whatever switch they had installed in order to get out of this thing. Your foot pounds a few more times on the back of the wall, before you hear something click. Perfect!
  58. >You kill the link between the your armour and the tank, and start to wiggle out of the tank.
  59. >Your eyes glance down as you push yourself out, more and more of you becoming free of the tank.
  60. >You glance back over your shoulder, outside and you see your legs a few inches above the ground outside.
  61. >Noting this, you position yourself with your right shoulder up against the bottom of the tank, and pull your legs back in slightly.
  62. >Without a second more of hesitation, you push yourself off the tank with your arms, and tuck yourself into a ball, in order to protect your head more completely from the fall.
  63. >The ground shoots up to meet you, and the world spins around you as you impact the soil.
  64. >Pain shoots up your leg, as you land improperly, putting much more more force on your left leg than your right.
  65. >From behind you , you hear the scorpion smash into the rock, as well as a message from the internal speakers of your suit.
  66. >”Scorpion Tank disabled, repair supplies depleted.”
  67. >At this point, you couldn’t care less what happened to that fucking tank.
  68. >You roll over and place you back against the ground.
  69. >The pain felt as if your nerves were set on fire, spreading through your flesh as an inferno burned through a forest.
  70. >You grit teeth, and wait for your suit to inject a dose of stims into your body.
  71. >You smile as the pain slips away slowly, and you feel the comforting cool of the chemical as it enters your bloodstream.
  72. >With a groan, you force yourself up into a sitting position.
  73. >It would probably be most wise to move before the inhabitants of the castle come down to kill you for destroying their property.
  74. >No time for checking how damaged you are.
  75. >Suddenly, the robotic voice used for announcements comes over your internal speakers once again.
  76. >”Objective: Obtain high position for evac, eliminate hostile targets.”
  77. >This confirms two things: That you still had connection to the network, and that it looks like it is the time to leave.
  78. >You force yourself back up from the ground, up onto your own two feet.
  79. >You pull the cloak activator out from your side, and roll it in your hands for a second.
  80. >With a click, you depress the button and a familiar high pitch whining fills your ears, as your body fades from view.
  81. >You glance back towards the sky from which you came, and see the hole you made in the floor of the castle above.
  82. >You would need to be at a high point for evacuation, right?
  83. >Now there was only the question how the fuck you were going to get anywhere near that place without being detected.
  84. >They surely had Agents with their own HRV already hunting for you, right?
