>Twilight gives her mentor a wide-eyed look.

>"But.. Celestia, you can't be talking about stepping down."

>"Oh, Twilight. I was always thinking about it. But it's you who has the most to lose... or gain."

>Twilight just continues staring.

>"I was going to give it all to you, Twilight. The power of the sun. Guardianship over Equestria. The ability to watch your friends die, over and over again, unable to reincarnate with them..."

"And you are so sure that you reincarnate?"

 

>Everypony stops everything, Celestia included, to look at you.

>"Of course we're sure! We watch it happen, with magic!" Twilight shouts, a bit more vehement than she probably should be.

>"You.. don't?" Cadence quietly asks.

"We aren't sure. The only ones who claim to know are religious, but religion is a mere opiate of the masses."

>"WHAT IS THIS RELIGION THOU SPEAKETH OF?"

>"Do you think we should tell them?"

"We must, Aleksandr, or they'll discover it themselves, to their and our detriment. Religion is the belief in a supernatural being, capable of miracles, when you have not seen it."

>That creeps the fuck out of all of them.

"But you know that you come back? That must be a comforting thought. To know that you will one day see what you have built."

>"You won't remember it was you." Twilight says.

"But that is fine. Personal glory is a capitalist concept and enemy of progress."

>You have always been fast to take advantage. To capitalize, as it were.

"Now do you see what the soviets are for, Princess? That is what this is about. Princess. You and your sister can be released from your eternal toil. Let your ponies handle it, the way it was meant to be."

>And to think, in your home world, the society you made is being desecrated by a steel bastard...

 

>"SISTER! THOU CANST NOT BE TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY! IT GOES AGAINST ALL TRADITION!"

>"Oh, Luna. Tradition's bound Canterlot for too long and turned it rancid. Even at the Gala, I do nothing but greet the same ponies with the same self-serving concerns. And you remember how Blueblood reacted when I told him to earn his keep. Princes like him should be out fighting evil dragons and keeping the country safe! They wouldn't even answer my Lost Dog flyer!"

>She leans in close between you and Aleksandr.

>"It was a big dog."

>You wonder if trolling is a tradition.

>"Twilight.. I want you to come with me before dawn tomorrow morning. I want to show you something."

 

>The soviet concludes quietly.

>Many of the others want to see what goes on between the Princess and her student, but they are rebuffed.

>You take the train home, enjoy a restful sleep next to your wife, and awake before the sun rises.
