  1. Part 37 This Day We Fight!
  2.
  3. >The cool wind blows slightly in your face
  4. >The sun is still below the horizon, teasing the landscape
  5. >Quickly, you take off the Head Crusher's pelt, and let it drop over the edge
  6. >The movement captures the attention of a few dogs below, but overall, they're not alerted
  7. >In your left pocket, you feel a little movement
  8. >Checking it, you find your old magical MP3 player
  9. >Well...you don't know where this came from, but it'll be helpful here
  10. >You easily locate Boss Paw, in an ancient looking armor
  11. >You  hold up your saber straight up in the air
  12. >3...2...1...
  13. >You swiftly lower your saber, parallel to the ground, slicing the thin air
  14. CHARGE!
  15. >Jumping off the cliff, you find yourself running down the side
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acsc6ZVd3cM
  17. >Lucky jumped with you
  18. >Lightning Strike caught him, and is carrying him alongside you
  19. >Blazin' Blue takes to the skies, and begins his covering fire
  20. >Near-instantly, you all are individually enveloped in a purplish shield, courtesy of the one that stayed behind, Star Shine
  21. >Clearly you were chosen for this by some higher power...You absolutely fear nothing now
  22. >There's a simple thrill in running down the ledge, you discover
  23. >All the dogs are now focused on Bad Company
  24. >Hundreds of arrows fly in your direction, but not make it past Star Shine's shields
  25. >Seconds until you hit the ground...
  26. >You quickly set up your right foot, and land, creating a small crater, marking the beginning of a war-torn battlefield
  27. >Barely feeling anything, you near instantaneously run into the daemonic horde towards the last place you saw Boss Paw
  28. >Lucky appears beside you before long, and above you is Lightning Strike and Blazin' Blue
  29. >You watch the pegasi start shooting the dogs in front of you
  30. >Lucky is quick to take care of stragglers that dare to follow behind you
  31. >There are only a few that try to impede your path
  32. >Those that aren't shot are quickly dealt with by your saber
  33. >Bad Company has become something more than desperate avengers
  34. >You all have become something that has stricken fear into the Diamond Dogs' hearts
  35. >Passing them, you get a glimpse of some of them: their baggy eyes suggest a lack of good sleep
  36. >Perhaps many of them have been having nightmares
  37. >Nightmares of you, the beast that killed plenty of them in the mines outside of Ponyville, that killed the Head Crusher, that now is charging towards them
  38. >It must be far worse, as you have a killing crew with you eliminating them
  39. >This day has only just begun
  40. >A faint voice yells, "KILL THEM NOW! KILL THEM, OR I WILL PERSONALLY RIP YOUR HEARTS OUT!"
  41. >This threat knocks a good amount of them out of their fear paralysis, and you see your initial path growing a little smaller as the Dogs get closer to you
  42. >Looks like all you have to do is make them fear you more than they fear their boss
  43. >A bigger dog steps in front of you
  44. >You spot a couple of bolts already lodged in his chest
  45. >Without hesitation, you continue running your path
  46. >Just as he's about to shoot a bolt at you, you jump and strike his neck
  47. >You don't stop to admire your work, but you hear a loud thump, and a smaller thump, and can imagine what you just did
  48. >"Captain!"
  49. >You look up, seeing Lightning Strike being assaulted by many thousands of arrows
  50. >Thank the gods for Star Shine's shield, or your comrade would be in fatal agony
  51. What is it Lightning Strike?!
  52. >"Boss Paw is about 30 meters ahead, towards your 2 'o clock!"
  53. Roger!
  54. >Making a slight adjustment on your course, you slice at two more dogs in your way, spilling their blood
  55. >A little further ahead, you see your target, his ancient armor a dead giveaway
  56. >It actually looks similar to the ancient Roman armor
  57. >There is a fire in his eyes, but you remain undaunted
  58. >Readying your sword, you sprint to him
  59. >He raises his sword above his head, and brings it down
  60. >You side step and strike at his mouth, your saber slashing through him like jelly
  61. >A satisfactory sloshing noise gives you somewhat of a sick comfort
  62. >You take a look at your saber, admiring how wet it is with his blood
  63. >A glimmer from a non-stained part of the blade catches your eye
  64. >The beautiful sun is finally up
  65. >Turning your head to face your opponent, the calm you felt disappears
  66. >The Dog you see is not Boss Paw, but an imposter
  67. >Uh...
  68. Lightning Strike! How many others do you see in this armor?
  69. >Above, you see enemy arrows continue their assault on your pegasi
  70. >"There's at least 30! Which one is the leader?!"
  71. >Your suspicions are confirmed: that dog was more than likely a decoy
  72. >Either that, or at most, an officer
  73. >Still doesn't get rid of Boss Paw
  74. >The surrounding Diamond Dogs start to close in on you
  75. >Lucky is 10 meters away, fighting off increasing amounts of Dogs
  76. >Anger rises in you, and your aural presence increases significantly
  77. >It's now even around your saber
  78. >Something's...different
  79. >You feel something...like a pulse, but outside your body
  80. >You turn left a little, and it feels stronger
  81. >Smiling, you realize what it is
  82. Strike and Blue! Try to cover me as best as you can! Lucky, you better keep up with me!
  83. >"Understood Captain!" they all yell
  84. >You spring forward, pre-empting a strike from the dog in front of you: grabbing his striking arm with your left, you pull...and rip it off, leaving a screaming dog and a bloody mess on the ground
  85. >Those that were around you suddenly back off, aware of that unfortunate dog's wound
  86. That's right you FUCKERS! If you make it to me, I WILL rip your body apart! I'll let you live with your mutilated bodies!
  87. >Many of them are backing up...
  88. >And your shield goes down
  89. >Uh...Star Shine?
  90. >You turn your head, and see that while you were busy, a swarm of dogs climbed up the cliff
  91. >You can't even see Star Shine, but you notice that the Dogs are having the fight of their lives
  92. >In the couple of moments after you looked, all struggle stopped, as the Dogs carry the Star Shine's motionless body
  93. STAR SHINE!
  94. >Fury floods your body, and you continue running towards that pulse
  95. >There's nothing you can do, except make sure his sacrifice was not in vain
  96. Lightning Strike! Blazing Blue! Watch out for projectiles now! They got Star Shine!
  97. >At that moment, you feel that you ignited a flame in their hearts
  98. >Visibly, they're fighting more brutally than before
  99. >Blazing Blue yells out "I'm out of bolts! I'm coming down!"
  100. >Before you can respond, he dives into the fray
  101. >He lands about 50 meters away to your right, and you have no choice but to watch him get swarmed
  102. >He holds his own for a small while, but like Star Shine, it stops suddenly
  103. >His bloody body is carried away
  104. BLAZIN' BLUE!
  105. >Though you have a strong desire to just start in the brawl, you don't
  106. >You realize that he managed to draw a good amount of them from your right side, giving you some more space in your path
  107. >An unfortunate dog strays into your way
  108. >Temporarily sheathing your saber, you jump and knee him in his throat
  109. >As he falls backwards, gagging, you unsheathe your saber, and stab him in the spine at the base of his neck
  110. >You continue your sprint towards the ever stronger pulse, imagining the pain and horror you inflicted upon that creature, namely the paralysis he'll endure if he survives
  111. >It can't be a pleasant way to die either...
  112. >Ahead of you, you can see a huge group of dogs, and in the center...
  113. >The real Boss Paw!
  114. >They're rather close to the river. Not good.
  115. >"WATCH OUT CAPTAIN!"
  116. >You look up, and see Lightning Strike falling down, several arrows in his wings, one in his flank
  117. >His landing is short of graceful, but he controlled it enough that he didn't die from a fall
  118. >He's about 30 meters away, and you start to stray from the course
  119. >"LEAVE ME! HE'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! GO!"
  120. >Like with the others, they swarm him and take him out within seconds
  121. >One of them carries the lifeless body
  122. LIGHTNING STRIKE!
  123. >Rage consumes you
  124. >You try to turn, but something grabs you and throws you into the air
  125. >You land on the animal, and almost slay it
  126. >At the last moment, you realize that Lucky threw you onto his back
  127. >"Captain! Boss Paw is right there! They've all sacrificed themselves so you could get closer to him! Finish the job!"
  128. >You start slashing at the dogs that approach both of you from the side
  129. Don't worry, Lucky. Boss Paw's conquest will end today
  130. >It's not long before you're bathed in blood, up to Lucky's bridle
  131. >It's death to retreat, there's no chance of survival
  132. >You can feel the pulse getting so much stronger
  133. >It's almost unbearable
  134. >25 meters away from the river
  135. >Your heart sinks
  136. >Boss paw is already across the river, in Equestrian soil
  137. >Before the river, a sizable amount of dogs remained behind to meet you
  138. >You attempt to get ready for the onslaught
  139. >Instead, Lucky picks you off of his back, and quickly throws you into the air
  140. >The dogs surround him, and he kills a good amount of them alone
  141. >While you're still in the air though, he gets overrun, and the fighting ceases
  142. LUCKY!
  143. >You see his body get carried towards the other side of the river
  144. >The width of the river isn't long, but being thrown across it certainly took a godly amount of strength
  145. >Landing on the other side, you feel a slight shock, almost like a small static electricity
  146. >They must know already
  147.  >That doesn't matter anymore. You are ready to kill
  148. BOSS PAW! THIS DAY WE FIGHT!
  149. >He doesn't acknowledges you
  150. >Before you can attempt to attack him, a bunch of dogs cut you off
  151. >They came carrying the bodies of your comrades
  152. >"You see, Anon, we defeated your little group. You all fought bravely, but it was a futile effort. You're the only one left, and seeing how easily my Dogs killed your Guards, you'll prove no different
  153. >The dogs swarm you, blocking almost all light
  154. ENOUGH!
  155. >You break through their cluster, slicing through most of them
  156. >Those that were injured, fall bleeding profusely
  157. >The uninjured run away
  158. >Boss Paw finally looks at you
  159. >"Ah, so you have a touch of the Darkness in you, eh? No wonder you're so skilled in combat!"
  160. >You ignore him, instead going towards your comrades
  161. >Quickly, you  take the dog tags of your fallen heroes
  162. >After completing the task, you walk towards Boss Paw, finishing the wounded in your path
  163. >In seconds, he surrounds himself in an aura surprisingly similar to yours
  164. >He smirks
  165. >"You see Anon, we're in fact very similar. I invite you join me in my conquest."
  166. >In response, you raise your saber to him
  167. >"Oh well. It would have been cumbersome to work with another Agent of Chaos."
  168. >Wait...
  169. What?
  170. >He doesn't answer you
  171. >Instead, he unsheathes his weapon, and dashes towards you
  172. >His attacks are shockingly faster than last time on the mountain, but you're able to deflect with relative ease
  173. >Boss Paw's sword flies everywhere, from your head to your toes
  174. >You suddenly push forward, switching from the defensive
  175. >Attacking him proves fruitless; he deflects every blow you give
  176. >"Try this motherfucker!"
  177. >He pulls out another sword from seemingly nowhere
  178. >In fact, it appears to just materialize into his hand
  179. >You can't help but switch back to the defensive after he starts dual-wielding
  180. >It's no longer so simple to block
  181. >Stepping back, you're not given any chance to reach for your knife
  182. >Strike from above...You deflect it, but immediately have to duck to avoid the strike to your side
  183. >Without rest, he goes to stab your face, forcing you to jump to the side
  184. >The way he's fighting, it's almost like he knows what you're going to do...not quite, but almost
  185. >He is definitely superior to you in swordplay, the only reason you're still alive is probably this magic
  186. >In an instant, you form a plan
  187. >His next strike is a stab, headed for your chest
  188. >His blade is dripping with that dark aura...
  189. >You mentally prepare yourself...
  190. >And it hits in the same spot as his last hit on the mountain
  191. >The old wound opens up with excruciating pain
  192. >Not missing a beat, you turn hard, forcing the sword out of his hands, simultaneously dropping your saber and drawing your knife
  193. >He definitely did not expect this
  194. >Jumping forward, you catch him by complete surprise as you sink your knife into his throat, stopping after hitting the spinal chord
  195. >Awestruck, he falls backwards, and you watch his life quickly leave
  196. >You pull the sword out of your chest, and feel the worst sort of agony
  197. >You're breathless, weakened, and bleeding
  198. >You fall to your knees
  199. >In fact, you're pretty much defenseless
  200. >That's ok though...you killed Boss Paw
  201. >Perhaps you can join your comrades in the Elysian Fields...
  202. >You can barely see anything, but you hear quick steps surrounding you
  203. >This is it...
  204. >"Captain Anon! By Order of Princess Celestia, you are hereby under arrest for malicious trespassing and treason by attempted hostile invasion!"
  205. >That voice...it's not a dog
  206. >Your eyes focus on the figure in front of you
  207. >A Royal Guard, with officer ranks
  208. >Around him are similarly ranked Guards, split between pegasus and unicorn
  209. >Your suspicions are confirmed
  210. >That shock you felt earlier landing on this side of the river was a magical alarm
  211. >You look behind you, seeing that those dogs are retreating swiftly
  212. >Good... You were at least right about that
  213. >Wait a second, what did that Guard say?
  214. >Shit, they think you led the dogs here!
  215. No, you don't understand! I just killed their leader, to protect Equestria!
  216. >"A likely story. How do you explain those fallen Guards behind you?!"
  217. >Star Shine...Blazin' Blue...Lightning Strike...Lucky...
  218. They fought bravely...I couldn't have defeated Boss Paw without them...
  219. >That now familiar burning in your eyes...tears threaten to spill out
  220. >The Guard turns to another
  221. >"What do you think, sir?"
  222. >The other one replies, "I think it's more likely those four fought off as many dogs as they could, and Anon here figured he'd use their corpses as displays of what he intended to do with us. No Royal Guard would ever disobey their commander, or dessert their post. Take him to the prison."
  223. >You respond
  224. Do you honestly think I would lead an army against Equestria? Why would I kill Boss Paw, if not to protect Equestria?
  225. >That same Guard says, "Don't listen to him! He's trying to trick us!"
  226. >He looks directly towards you. "I'll indulge you with what I see. I saw a power struggle between two leaders, desperately wanting full control of the Diamond Dog Army. Don't lie. You both had the same magical aura when you were fighting, which means that you both serve the same master. I don't know who it is, but your comrade down there isn't the only one your master will lose today."
  227. >Where is all this coming from?
  228. Who's telling you all these lies?
  229. >"Princess Celestia NEVER lies, you swine!"
  230. >Strength fails you as they grab you
  231. >Taking off, your journey to the Equestrian prison begins
  232. >No one is hearing your pleas of innocence
  233. >With the altitude rising, and your weakened state, everything starts to turn black
  234. >Before you pass out, you observe the leader's eyes...they seem to give off a faint glow
