  1. Part 35 Reunion
  2.
  3. >You wake up, face in the dirt
  4. >The remnants of a nightmare still lingering in your head
  5. >From what you're able to gather, you had decided to take a short break from your journey and sat down
  6. >A blink of the eyes, and you were suddenly out
  7. >Your body was probably more fatigued than you thought
  8. >Quick assessment: Body is a little sore due to weird sleeping position; no missing items; time of day: 0740
  9. >Not bad, but you still don't know where you're going, other than a general direction of South
  10. >Going through your pack, you take out a nice chunk of meat, and a can of peaches
  11. >You examine your food supply, and notice that you only have another three days of food
  12. >Gotta worry about that some other time
  13. >Quickly consuming your breakfast, you get up
  14. >The sounds of the forest surround you
  15. >There are plenty of trees, but the area isn't dense. Sunlight is able to reach the ground
  16. >It's almost beautiful here
  17. >The forest actually starts to remind you a little bit of your hometown in autumn
  18. >Dying leaves scatter the forest
  19. >You begin to wonder why you didn't notice this before
  20. >.....
  21. >........
  22. >Yeah...probably your little "errand" kept you distracted...
  23. >But you wonder what season it was when you started your journey here in Equestria
  24. >Time since then seems to have slipped you by, but it feels like a second home
  25. >A home you been banished from...
  26. >A home you love...
  27. >A home worth...dying for?
  28. >Yes. A home worth dying for. What's happened to you wasn't fair...
  29. >Hell, you've been condemned... And her....
  30. >But Equestria is your home now, and whether the inhabitants like it or not, you're here
  31. >You're here, and nothing is going to stop you from protecting it
  32. >With any and all means necessary
  33. >Your inner thoughts done, you start to move, when you hear something
  34. >A continuous crackling sound, faint, and natural
  35. >Sounds peaceful, and natural...
  36. >Water!
  37. >You could certainly use a landmark...er...watermark to guide you to the next town
  38. >Not to mention a steady supply of water...
  39. >Rushing to the sound's source, you still maintain awareness of your surroundings
  40. >The crunching beneath your boots drowns out the chirping birds
  41. >The scent of water upon you drives you nearly insane
  42. >Before long, you find the river
  43. >It's quite wide, and would be a nice, less than 5 minute swim for you to get to the other side
  44. >The water is quite clean-looking, sparkling blue
  45. >You can't tell just how deep it is, but since you can't see the bottom, you assume it's pretty deep
  46. >A splash occurs, drawing your attention
  47. >On edge, you're reluctant to pass it off as a fish
  48. >Another splash happens, this time you see the fish
  49. >Ah, another meat source
  50. >Quite good news indeed
  51. >Without a moment to waste, you hurry to the river bank
  52. >What stops you from immediately pushing your face in the water is your reflection
  53. >Your facial hair looks like a fair amount of stubble, considering you can't remember ever gracefully growing it well. It always looked bad, but right now you look like somewhat of a different person, with a rugged five o'clock shadow
  54. >Another striking feature was the hooded cloak you had fashioned from the Head Crusher's pelt
  55. >His eyes gone, but expression still showed the pleasure he took from the way he killed his victims
  56. >The roof of his mouth is big enough to cover your head
  57. >Hell, his pelt gives great cover for you from the weather
  58. >Since climbing down that mountain, the weather hasn't been that bad though
  59. >Functionally, it has served its purpose and is no longer needed
  60. >Still, you can't bring yourself to part with it
  61. >Apart from that, you look like a guy that hasn't seen a shower in months
  62. >How long have you been gone?
  63. >Feels like months, but it should only be a few days
  64. >You cup your hands and scoop some water from the river to your mouth
  65. >For water, it tastes pretty good
  66. >Almost too good to believe. Nice and cool, and definitely clean
  67. >You start gulping the water
  68. >A canteen falls out of your pack, water sloshing inside
  69. >Fuck the water inside it
  70. >You empty it, and fill it from the river
  71. >After about ten minutes of rehydrating, you get up
  72. >As you're just about to start walking, you hear a faint noise
  73. >Unnatural in sound, it's followed by similar noises
  74. >Almost like screaming, it sounds like it's coming from across the river
  75. > Jumping in the water, you swim to the other side
  76. >Screaming means people
  77. >Or rather, ponies. Or something smart enough to have its own civilization
  78. >Hopefully
  79. >Reaching the shore, the sounds are still faint, but are a bit clearer
  80. >You run towards the sounds through the forest, uncaring about the noise you're making
  81. >Ever clearer, the screaming sounds now sound like a conflict
  82. >Perhaps you can be useful here...
  83. >Quite concerning is that the sound is getting clearer, but quieter.
  84. >As you run, you notice a slight incline in your path
  85. >You don't care
  86. >In fact, you sprint faster. Being dripping wet doesn't matter to you
  87. >All you know is you need to get there NOW
  88. >A clearing comes into view, and you realize you're on top of a hill
  89. >A hill with a sharp decline, and an otherwise picturesque landscape
  90. >What stops you dead in your tracks is the view
  91. >Below you is the sight of a badly-losing fight
  92. >You recognize the uniform of many scattered, bloody bodies as that of the Royal Guard
  93. >There's a good amount of Diamond Dog corpses scattered as well, but they're clearly overwhelming the Guard
  94. >A small group of Guards is left, defending themselves from the horde
  95. >There seems to be four in particular fighting like crazy
  96. >Unsheathing your great knife, you stand at the edge
  97. >You give a war cry that pierces all ears in a mile radius
  98. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  99. >All eyes are now on you
  100. >The Guards and Dogs both look confused at the loud black-furred creature above them
  101. >You pull the hood (head) of your fur cloak, revealing your face
  102. >What you hear is a little cheering from the Guards, and a bit of groans from the Dogs
  103. >You even hear a Dog shout in surprise
  104. >"Isn't that the Head Crusher's skin?!"
  105. >Your response: your black aura and a jump off the edge
  106. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iwC2QljLn4
  107. >Landing hard, the ground feels it more than you, with a little crater surrounding you
  108. >You stay in your crater for less than a second, dashing towards the nearest Dog in front of you
  109. >He offers little resistance to your blade, still in shock
  110. >Quickly sinking your knife into his neck and ripping it out, the others seemed to unfreeze
  111. >Reacting quickly, you hop to the next victim, bashing his head in with the handle of your knife
  112. >Four of the Guards start to run to your aid
  113. >You must be killing pretty quickly, because you're quickly catching up to every Dog
  114. >Soon, you've lost count, but it's already more than twenty that are down by your hand
  115. >Then the four Guards helping you...They've taken down a good amount too
  116. >You grab a Dog's head and pull it towards you
  117. >Fear in his eyes, you stab him right between them
  118. >Efficient kill? No. Painful, and full of flair? Yes
  119. >This one dropped something...A saber?
  120. >He must have been the commanding officer
  121. >What a pussy
  122. >Quickly picking up the sword and putting it on your belt, you carry on with your assault
  123. >You see out of the corner of your eye that the four assisting you are fighting in a strange manner for ponies
  124. >In little time, a total of five fighters just drove off at least 100 Dogs
  125. >And killed more than 200
  126. >The sun is midway in the afternoon when the last Dog in sight falls
  127. >Brow full of sweat, you slowly calm down
  128. >Your aura disappears, and you feel a bit fatigued
  129. >You turn to the four that helped you fight, noticing one more a ways back that stayed where he was
  130. Great work men. But where the hell did you learn to fight?
  131. >They all remove their helmets
  132. >In unison, they yell "From you Captain!"
  133. >Your four trainees
  134. >Blazin' Blue
  135. >Lightning Strike
  136. >Star Shine
  137. >Lucky
  138. >You absolutely cannot believe your luck
  139. >Standing at attention, they immediately fall into formation
  140. Men, you've clearly demonstrated your combat expertise, and I am more proud than I thought possible.
  141. >"Thank you SIR"
  142. >You stand at ease
  143. Relax everyone. Tell me what's happened since you left?
  144. >Lucky steps up
  145. >"Sir, since you left for your mission, all Guards have been on stand-by status in case you've failed your mission."
  146. >Mission? Huh...Wait, Princess Celestia did say something about some made-up story about you protecting Equestria
  147. >Well, it's not too far off from the truth at any rate
  148. As you can see, the Diamond Dogs are back, and they are hostile. I know they're trying to get into Equestria as we speak. We cannot let the fight reach our beloved country!
  149. >Star Shine speaks up
  150. >"Sir? Didn't you single-handedly take down the Diamond Dogs last time? What changed?"
  151. A fair question Star Shine. They've got a new leader they call Boss Paw. He's apparently driving them towards this attack, and he is our top target. End his life, and we may spare thousands of our brothers.
  152. >The other guard approaches your troops
  153. >By the looks of it, he's an earth pony
  154. >His uniform is slightly different
  155. >It looks more fanciful, with less functionality than-
  156. >Ah, it's an officer
  157. >He looks experienced. Must be the senior officer of this small group
  158. >Your grin disappears when his mouth opens
  159. >"Get away from that filthy monster!"
  160. Pardon?
  161. >All four ask in unison "Sir?"
  162. >"This monster... Princess Celestia warned all the officers about him! Get back!"
  163. >"Sir, he just saved us! He's a hero, and our survival instructor!
  164. >"He's a menace! He killed at least 10 civilians in cold blood! We must warn the Princess about his return!"
  165. >You get a sinking feeling, mentally preparing yourself to do what it takes...
  166. >"Sir, we know him! He would never do that! It must be a mistake! Captain, tell him!"
  167. >You lower your head
  168. .....
  169. >"Captain?"
  170. .....
  171. >"See?! His silence admits his guilt! We can capture him if we all take him!"
  172. >You steady your hand, ready to strike against them...
  173. >Can you do this to your troops?
  174. >Lucky yells at the officer
  175. >"SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH LEAF GREEN!"
  176. >The officer looks stunned
  177. >"Did you just..-"
  178. >"Fuck yeah I did! There's more to the story than is being told here!"
  179. >He steps up to you, and turns, facing them
  180. >Almost immediately, Blazin' Blue, Star Shine, and Lightning Strike follow suit
  181. >"He is a Captain in our Guard, and deserves the respect of such. We, his faithful subordinates, will not capture him to be treated as a criminal without evidence!"
  182. >You're surprised as hell
  183. >Your four troops just gave you the benefit of the doubt, something you never thought you'd ever get again
  184. >You're...touched...
  185. >Meanwhile, Leaf Green starts to back up
  186. >"You realize I have no choice but to report this mutiny as well?"
  187. >"We know."
  188. >They all suddenly pounce on their former commander, tying him up with rope
  189. >They even gagged his mouth
  190. >When they finished, they returned to you
  191. >Lightning Strike speaks up first
  192. >"It's great to see you again, sir. What's our next plan?"
  193. >Still looking down, you hesitate to answer
  194. ..........He's half right....
  195. >"What?!"
  196. ...I might have killed some civilians, but I don't know. I was...
  197. >You almost choke
  198. ...I was not...conscious... at the time I supposedly did it. I don't have any recollection of it, and I never was able to tell my side of the story. I was banished for this, and I still don't know if I really killed anyone or if I was framed...
  199. >They all remain silent
  200. I'm not fit to lead you. All I ask is that you let me escape to fight Boss Paw...
  201. >Star Shine speaks up
  202. >"Sir, I'm certain I speak for everyone when I say that we'll follow you through hell and back. You're our Captain, and we're going to fight alongside you. Am I right?"
  203. >"HOORAH!"
  204. >A faint voice cries out
  205. >"owww"
  206. >Hmm? A survivor?
  207. >You look immediately, and find the source of the noise
  208. >A Dog, still alive somehow
  209. Ah, good. A survivor
  210. >He appears to have just gotten knocked out. His comrades around him don't appear so lucky
  211. >Or unlucky, as the case may be
  212. >You pull out the saber, noting it's sharpness and weight
  213. >Yes, killing something with this would be rather easy
  214. >Pointing it to him, you clearly make your demands
  215. Where is the rest of the Diamond Dog Army?
  216. >His raspy voice answers "Why the hell would I tell you that?"
  217. >You smile
  218. I don't think you understand your position here. I am going to kill you. But how you answer my question will determine how you die. If you tell me everything you know, your death shall be quick. If you do not answer me, or I sense that you've lied to me, you will be nailed to a tree. You will have your organs ripped from your inside, and you will only be relieved from this excruciating torture when you have provided useful information
  219. >His eyes widened, implying a sense of understanding
  220. Now, where is the rest of the Diamond Dog Army?
  221. >He cracks immediately
  222. >"They're about a day's travel Southeast of here! The plan is to invade through an unguarded field!"
  223. >Blazin' Blue cuts in
  224. >"You mean past the Manticore Pass?
  225. >"Yes, the very same!"
  226. When will they attack?
  227. >"The morning after tomorrow! Now please don't torture me!"
  228. >You grant him his wish
  229. >You deliver a swift blow in the head from the saber, killing him near-instantly
  230. >Wiping the blood from the sword, you turn to your troops
  231. We will head there immediately. Blazin' Blue, it sounds like you know the location, therefore you will lead us to the Pass. Any questions?
  232. >They shake their heads
  233. Good
  234. >Lucky raises his voice
  235. >"The First Equestrian Aerial Regiment will have the honor of defending the Princess against the Diamond Dog Army!"
  236. >"HOORAH!!!"
  237. ...No.
  238. >They all look at you
  239. >"Sir??"
  240. Our group cannot be a part of the Royal Guard. You're all deserters as far as the Guard is concerned, and I'm a banished officer.
  241. >"Will we not have a name then?"
  242. >They all look a little down
  243. >You raise a brow
  244. That is incorrect. We have a new name. In light of our circumstances, we are Bad Company.
  245. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNHlVo0cPa8
  246. >Blazin' Blue takes point, and navigates the group towards the Manticore Pass
  247. >The sun lowering, it's on your right side
  248. >You no longer have the dishonor of fighting alone
  249. >Now you have your troops
  250. >And that feels like a vast improvement
  251. >Pride swells in you, and you're ready to take on the Diamond Dogs again
  252. >Under your breath, you mutter
  253. Boss Paw, get ready for the fight of your life.
