- Chapter 5: Void
- >The first day on the moon was the worst.
- >Mainly just because of the initial shock that you were in space.
- >There was also the panicking, that definitely didn't help.
- >But mostly, it was the quiet. The utter silence of it all seemed to surround you. Envelop you.
- >You remember screaming for a while.
- >It was on the third day that you even started to ask yourself important questions, like how it was possible you were breathing.
- >It was funny now that you look back on it. You were sitting down on a rock looking up at Equestria when you suddenly noticed each breath you took felt funny.
- >Kind of tingly; had a warmth to it.
- >Magic?
- >You didn't know. Maybe Celestia made it so you could breathe in a vacuum. It seemed the only plausible explanation.
- >That, and you didn't feel all too hungry.
- >Ever.
- >Once the first week ended, you grew curious about your surroundings and decided to look around.
- >So you began to walk.
- >And you didn't stop walking until you arrived at the edge of the dark side of the moon.
- >It was uncanny how it looked. A vast, dusty valley shrouded in shadow lay before you.
- >So you kept walking.
- -------
- >It's been a week since you traveled to the dark side of the moon.
- >At first you were worried about this place, but now you've come to welcome it.
- >It seems quieter here, even though you know that it's the same amount of noise as any part of the moon.
- >Namely, none.
- >The darkness calms you, and you feel more at ease in the moon's sanguine half.
- >The best part about it all is when you go to sleep.
- >Shadowed by the dark veil, you lay on your back and gaze up at the void above you.
- >The black of space is speckled with distant stars, and the hints of far off nebulae.
- >You may not remember anything about who you were before you came to Equestria, but you remember that the night sky never looked something this.
- >One night you decide to try to retrieve as much as you can from your mind in reference to who you are.
- >At first you are met by the same familiar blank slate that is your memory.
- >But slowly something starts to surface.
- >You hear a noise. Soft at first, but drawing nearer, as if it were traveling along a great distance.
- >It was music.
- >You were able to remember an old song from your past life. One you listened to as you looked up at the night sky from wherever you came from.
- >As you whisper the lyrics to yourself, you can't help but laugh at the sheer irony of it all.
- >You've been stuck on this desolate, lonely orb flying through the ebony void of space.
- >And the one song you remember is "Fly Me to the Moon".
- >You lay there and just laugh to yourself for a full minute before slowly and quietly singing to yourself.
- -------
- "Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars."
- >The stars above you shine among the darkness.
- "Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars."
- >...Water?
- >You're cheeks are wet.
- "In other words, hold my hand. In other words, baby kiss me."
- >You let out a chuckle, as you let small silent tears roll down your face and set upon the dusty lunar floor.
- >You lay there, singing the only thing you could remember about yourself before waking up in the Everfree.
- >Before you met Pinkie Pie and Twilight, and Fluttershy.
- >Before you were banished.
- >You close your eyes and a grin grows on your face as you finish your song.
- "In other words, please be true."
- "In other words... I love you."
- >The silence is nice, as you begin to drift off to sleep.
- >Bet then a voice wakes you up.
- >"That is a love song, is it not?"
- >You open your eyes and see the night sky, but it's not the same.
- >It's flowing softly too and fro.
- >Almost like...
- >Hair.
- >A mane.
- >And at the center of this starry mane was the face of a deep, dark blue pony, eyes shining like the stars in the distance down at yours.
- "Luna?"
