  1. >This was bad.
  2. >The deathclaw just stood in place, sniffing the air every so often while wringing its massive hands together.
  3. >It knew you were around.
  4. >It just didn't know where.
  5. >Fluttershy slowly raises her head above the edge of the window, trying to see what you're looking at.
  6. >"...what is that?..."
  7. >She speaks in the lowest of whispers.
  8. >Good. The louder you two were, the quicker you'd be dead.
  9. >You bring a finger to your lips, motioning her to return to the floor of the bus.
  10. >Every move you made had to be as slow and quiet as possible.
  11. >The beast starts to peer inside broken down cars, pawing within them for any signs of prey.
  12. >You look to Fluttershy.
  13. >Her face is scrunched up, and twitching.
  14. >...
  15. >Wait.
  16. >NO
  17. >She sneezes.
  18. >And then the deathclaw is right on top of you both.
  19. >A roar pierces your ears as the Deathclaw rushes the fan, claws outstretched and thirst for a kill.
  20. >You grab Fluttershy in your arms and scramble out of the bus, right as the beast slams into the rusty vehicle.
  21. >Fluttershy squeals in surprise.
  22. >Silence wasn't important anymore, survival was.
  23. >So you run.
  24. >"Anon what is that thi-"
  25. >Pain.
  26. >Dear god what was that pain?
  27. >You were... off the ground?
  28. >Oh.
  29. >Oh god.
  30. >Your body slams into the decaying wall of a rundown building, your form crumpling to the ground below.
  31. >Fluttershy was safe in your arms, but that wouldn't matter very soon.
  32. >Blood seeped from your side where the deathclaw's talons tore at you.
  33. >As the deathclaw stormed at you, you do all you can to roll over, covering Fluttershy with your body.
  34. >She's... trying to get out of your arms?
  35. >Why is she-
  36. >Suddenly she bounds out of your grasp and leaps over you.
  37. >NO.
  38. >You yell to her, trying to get her to stop.
  39. "No! Get away from-"
  40. >The deathclaw stands over Fluttershy, teeth bared and claws at the ready.
  41. >Fluttershy stands her ground.
  42. >"NO."
  43. >A claw is raised, ready to strike.
  44. >"I...said...NO."
  45. >You cringe, certain you were about to watch this yellow pony be torn to bits right before your eyes.
  46. >Instead, you watch as the deathclaw lowers its hand, and backs away from Fluttershy.
  47. "...what?..."
  48. >"No go away, big critter. Go on."
  49. >Her voice is as small and soft as it always was, but this thing...
  50. >This thing was doing what she said.
  51. >It was leaving.
  52. >And like that, it slunk away into the distance
  53. >You lay there, bloodied and beaten, utterly dumbstruck at what's in front of you.
  54. >Fluttershy turns around, tilting her head and smiling at you.
  55. >Once she sees the gash in your side, however, her smile gets replaced with a worried gasp.
  56. >"Oh my! Are you alright?"
  57. "What did...you do?"
  58. >"Oh my goodness, you're bleeding!"
  59. "It didn't attack you... why?"
  60. >"Hush now, you're hurt. Let me try to help you."
  61. >...
  62. "..okay"
  63. >You push yourself to your feet, your left side burning in pain.
  64. "Fuck!"
  65. >Clutching your wound, you look around you.
  66. "In here."
  67. >You limp over to the building you were thrown into and shove your way through the door.
  68. >It's old, dark and dusty, but it was as good a place as any to settle down into for a rest.
  69. >"We should find you a bed."
  70. "Yeah... yeah okay."
  71. >She smiles up at you.
  72. >"It's alright Anon, you'll be fine."
  73. >You give a laugh and wince.
  74. >God it hurts to laugh.
  75. >Pushing your self up stairs, you find a bed.
  76. >There were signs of skeletal remains littered in the room, and Fluttershy cringes.
  77. >"Oh my..."
  78. "Just ignore them and hand me a stimpack.
  79. >You sit on the bed, your side still bleeding while Fluttershy digs through your pack.
  80. >She trots up to you, a needle in her mouth, and hands it to you.
  81. "Thanks."
  82. >You swiftly jab it into your thigh, releasing the mix of morphine and other chemicals.
  83. >Your eyes grew heavy, and you found yourself collapsing on the bed.
  84. >Fluttershy returns to you with bandages and gauze in her mouth, and begins to patch you up.

  87.
  88. "Okay, answers."
  89. >"Um, excuse me, could you take off your shirt perhaps?"
  90. >You sit up and throw away the torn clothes from your back, but continue with Fluttershy.
  91. "What happened back there?"
  92. >She smiles.
  93. >"Well, I told that big critter to leave."
  94. "And it did. Why?"
  95. >"I told it too. Oh, and I gave it the stare."
  96. "The what?"
  97. >"The stare. I told it to leave, and sure enough it did. Works every time!"
  98. >She grins at you, and you could have sworn you heard a "squee" sound.
  99. "I just... I thought I was about to lose you."
  100. >You bring a hand to the top of her head, stroking it gently.
  101. >You wince as the chemicals from the stimpack begin taking effect, the torn skin on your side knitting itself back together.
  102. >That was going to leave a nasty scar.
  103. >"Lose me?"
  104. "Well, yeah. It's not too often that you survive an encounter with a deathclaw."
  105. >She smiles and nods to you.
  106. >"I suppose we're the exception."
  107. "Yeah... yeah I guess we are."
  108. >She nuzzles into your neck before starting to wrap the gauze around your waist.
  109. >Looking at the small yellow pegasus, you can feel your face shifting into a small grin.
  110. >You owed her.
  111. >She'd saved you life for the third time, and here she was patching you up in an old, decaying house.
  112. >She asked for nothing in return.
  113. >Had she not been with you today...
  114. "Thank you."
  115. >Her ears perk up.
  116. >"For what?"
  117. >You wrap her up in a hug.
  118. >You hadn't hugged something in a long time.
  119. "For everything."
