  1. Ponies simply can't stand to sleep alone. It goes against their very social nature. So what happens when they find out that Anon has been doing so for months?
  2.
  3. NOTE: All sidestories will be kept at the bottom under the real story.
  4.
  5. (9/25/13)
  6.
  7. >”Girls, we need to do something,” Fluttershy unexpectedly announces. “It’s about Anon.”
  8. >The other five elements look up from the scrumptious picnic lunch laid out before them to their meek friend, making her shrink under the scrutiny.
  9. >”What’s up with the big guy?” Rainbow asks the groups unspoken question with a raised eyebrow. “He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to need a lot of help, really.”
  10. >”W-well…” Fluttershy pauses to gather some courage, “haven’t you five noticed something about him? Well, um, it’s not really him, but rather his living conditions.”
  11. >”Dear, Anon is quite the clean and organized individual. I don’t see how there could be something out of sorts with how he lives,” Rarity chimes in.
  12. >”It’s not that, “ the yellow pegasus tries to explain, “you all know that he lives alone, right?”
  13. >The five mares look to one another, slowly starting to piece together what they were being told.
  14. >They all nod together.
  15. >”And how it’s always been like that, for the last few months he’s lived here?”
  16. >A slow, creeping sort of dread begins to form on the faces of Fluttershy’s friends.
  17. >”As in, um…” Fluttershy swallows past the lump in her throat as her voice goes so quiet that the others almost don’t hear what she says.
  18. >”... Throughout the night, too?”
  19. >A suffocating silence overtakes the happy picnic, as horror runs through all the mares.
  20. >”Y-you mean…” Applejack shakily starts, “Tha… tha poor guy has been sleepin’... ALONE... fur months!?!” The farmer almost yells.
  21.
  22. >Like a rock to a hornets nest, Applejack’s exclamation sets off her friends, who all erupt into their own laments over the resident human.
  23. >”Poor Anny! It must be so sc-!”
  24. >”T-t-this is an atrocity! An outrage!”
  25. >”What?! There’s no possible way that we didn’t notice for so long!”
  26. >”This is messed up! You can’t just-”
  27. >”Girls!” Fluttershy shouts, this time not shrinking away from the sudden attention.
  28. >She takes a deep breath and looks over all her friends. “I know this is a bad situation,” she says, her voice again soft, “but we shouldn’t sit here and panic. Anon needs us, and we need to figure out how to help him.”
  29. >All eyes immediately turn to Twilight for a plan, who smiles and pulls some paper and a quill from her saddlebags.
  30. >”Ok, I think I know just what we should do. First off…”
  31. ___________________________________________________________________________
  32.
  33. >Morning.
  34. >It’s a wonderful time of day, you think. It’s made even sweeter by the fact that you don’t have to get up.
  35. >Gotta love the whole ‘extraterrestrial fund’ check that appears in your mail courtesy of Celestia.
  36. >Alas, you do have to start your morning sometime. And now would be… Wait…
  37. >You strain your ears in your darkened bedroom, where the faintest sound can be heard.
  38. >Is… Is someone snoring?
  39. >Jesus fuck, if this is like the narcoleptic burglar who once broke into your house on Earth, then someone is getting an ass kicking.
  40. >Moving just your eyes around, you stop and stare when you find…
  41. “Twilight?”
  42.
  43. >Your voice comes out no higher than a whisper, making the sleeping pony’s ear twitch in such a way that you have to resist petting it.
  44. >Damn these little ponies for being so adorable.
  45. >But back to the matter at hand. How did she get in? And why in the world is she in your bed?
  46. >Well, she probably teleported through the door, but that still doesn’t explain WHY she’s here.
  47. >Looking back down at her, you only now realize just how pleasantly warm she is.
  48. >The little unicorn’s side is snuggled up to yours and gives off just enough heat to make you lethargic and unwilling to move.
  49. >It’s already becoming a struggle to keep your eyes open, even though you just slept a full night.
  50. >Just as you think that, Twilight’s eyes begin to flutter, making you panic.
  51. >Shit shit shit! Pretend you’re asleep!
  52. >You shut your eyes and even out your breathing just as the purple unicorn raises her head and yawns.
  53. >She looks around with bleary eyes, apparently bewildered by the unfamiliar surroundings before she looks at you.
  54. >Twilight smiles a heart melting smile before nuzzling your face so lightly that you barely feel it.
  55. >Then, without a moments delay, she shuffles to the edge of the bed and stands before vanishing in a soundless teleport.
  56. >You feigned sleep for a few more moments, just to be sure that she’s gone, then raise yourself up and look at the space she occupied.
  57. >What in the world was that for?
  58. ____________________________________________________________________________
  59.
  60. >It’s the next evening now, and you’re just getting ready for bed.
  61. >All day today, everypony you spoke to always looked at you with barely repressed smiles, like they were in on some big secret that you weren’t.
  62. >And it was literally, EVERYpony. Not every other one, not one is you’re just friends with, but every single one could barely look at you with a straight face.
  63. >Rainbow? Avoided looking you in the eye.
  64. >Twilight? Acted like nothing happened.
  65. >Even the Flower Sisters, who were normally as skittish as could be around you were giggling like they had been told the world’s funniest joke.
  66. >Honestly? It was pretty annoying, but you aren’t about to go and say that.
  67. >You look at your teeth your bathroom mirror, making sure nothing else was stuck in them after you brushed.
  68. >If there was one good thing that came out of a vegetarian diet, then it was having food it’s easy to spot in your teeth.
  69. >Okay, that’s a double-edged sword because of potential public embarrassment, but life is give and take.
  70. >You walk a single round around your house, making sure that your doors and windows were locked and sealed.
  71. >For whatever reason, you feel the slightest bit guilty doing so.
  72.
  73. >It seems that everything is in place, meaning you can finally retire after a long day.
  74. >Slowly, you walk to your bedroom and close the door behind you.
  75. >Then you unceremoniously fall into the bed, wrapping yourself in a cocoon of blankets as you do so.
  76. >As much as you actually want to go to sleep, you give it your all to remain awake in hopes of spotting another late-night visitor.
  77. >For almost an hour, you hear nothing but your own light breathing and the ticking of your alarm clock
  78. >In the almost total silence, is easy to make out  the sound of your front door lock jiggling.
  79.
  80. >Your breath hitches in your throat. Good god, it wasn’t some crazy dream. It’s actually happening!
  81. >The sounds of grumbles and your lock’s tumblers jingling grow just the slightest bit louder, before an audible ‘click’ echoes around the darkened house.
  82. >The knob twists, then the door opens on squeaky hinges, making the one who opened it let out a near silent string of expletives.
  83. >It’s silent again for almost thirty seconds, then the distinct sound of hooves tiptoeing comes through your locked bedroom door.
  84. >Even if they’re trying to be stealthy, the noise is thunderous in the quiet house. Those hooves sound awful heavy compared to a normal pony’s…
  85. >Oh sweet jesus, it isn’t Snowflake who broken this time, is it? Just the mental image of that meat tank breaking into your house for ANY reason makes you gulp.
  86. >The hooves come to a stop at your bedroom door, before the pony outside turns the knob only to be denied.
  87. >”Confounded things!” a feminine voice hisses to herself, “We enjoyed when locks were but simple latches.”
  88. “Dodged a bullet,” you mumble to yourself.
  89. >So it’s not Snowflake outside, but who is it? That voice sounds familiar for the strangest reason...
  90.
  91. >Another hiss catches your attention, but this time it’s not from a voice.
  92. >You crack open your eyes just the tiniest bit in time to see a blue mist seeping into the room from the cracks between your door and the frame.
  93. >Just what the actual fuck is going on here? Is someone trying to poison you?!?
  94. >Before you can panic, the mist rises up and condenses into the shape of a tall pony.
  95. >Sizzling like water on hot metal, the mist becomes solid it takes the shape of…
  96. >”Ah! Much better!”
  97. >... Princess Luna?
  98. >Now solid, the night deity daintily steps closer to your bed and looks down at you with profound melancholy in her eyes.
  99. >”Oh Anon, you unfortunate soul,” she says, pity coloring her tone, “to be so forcefully isolated. Tis an atrocity that you must suffer so.”
  100. >She looks at her namesake hanging high in the sky through your window, then returns her attention back to you. “Tis an atrocity we know all too well…”
  101. >Okay, now you’re seriously starting to get lost. What exactly is so wrong with you? And apparently Luna knows what it feels like?
  102. >Damn ponies.
  103. >”Fear not, however,” she continues quietly, “you are among friends here, Anon. We will not fail you.”
  104. >With a bit of magic, Luna sheds her regalia and neatly stacks it all next to your night stand.
  105. >Then she does the last thing you would ever expect.
  106. >Luna, one of Equestria's diarchs, gets into your bed.
  107.
  108. >As the princess slowly eased herself onto the mattress, as to not ‘wake’ you, you freeze and mentally freak out.
  109. >Ponies are cute and cuddly and all that good stuff, but this has reached an all-time high on your weird meter.
  110. >Why is this all happening?
  111. >Any further thought from you is cut off when one of Luna’s large, downy wings is slowly lowered onto you.
  112. >Warmth like no other seeps from the proffered limb right through the blanket and onto you.
  113. >It what seems like an instant, it’s hard to keep your eyes open and the idea of sleep seems sooooooo appealing.
  114. >Luna slowly shuffles closer pressing herself firmly against your side.
  115. >Even through the blanket and your clothes, its easy to feel the unearthly silky fur of the alicorn. It takes every ounce of your willpower not to reach out and pet her.
  116. >The pillows shifts some as Luna lays her head down hardly an inch away from yours, letting you look into her large, expressive eyes with ease.
  117. >She blinks slowly, and looks over your ‘sleeping’ the face with a wan, but genuinely happy smile. “You are a brave one, Anonymous, to go this long. But never again, and we promise that.”
  118. >Raising her head slightly, the alicorn nuzzles your cheek with her own, letting you feel the short, but incredibly soft fur on her face first-hand.
  119. >Next thing you know, your face is against Luna’s neck as she rests her head atop yours with a content sigh.
  120. >...This is so confusing. Why aren’t you jumping up and grilling her on why she’s here? Where’s the outburst that someone else would have?
  121.
  122.
  123. >This… this…
  124. >Everything becomes unfocused as the warmth of the princess against you finally sinks into your core.
  125. >Your eyes drift shut, too heavy to remain open any longer.
  126. >The last thought that runs through your mind is how the scent of evening primrose fits the lunar ruler well.
  127.
  128. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  129.
  130. >Slowly, consciousness comes back to you, and with it, the memories of the night before.
  131. >With a sharp inhale through your nose, you crack open an eye and find nothing sitting next to you.
  132. >You to sit up and inspect the room. Outside the window, the sun is just beginning to rise, painting the sky with all sorts of color.
  133. >The rest of the room is undisturbed, leaving you with the oddest pang of disappointment.
  134. >Was that just a dream as well? Luna does have influence over such things, after all.
  135. >It felt so real…
  136. >However odd it was, the experience wasn’t unpleasant. In fact, it was… It was…
  137. >You don’t really have a way to describe it, but it wasn’t unpleasant, and that’s for sure.
  138. >Just as you turn to get out of the bed, something catches your attention. Picking the object in question up, you find a tiny, indigo feather that's as soft as can be.
  139. >So ponies really are visiting you in the middle of the night. But just to sleep in your bed?
  140. >Interesting...
  141.
  142.
  143. (11/23/13)
  144.
  145. >The rest of your morning is uneventful as you go about your daily ritual of cooking a half-decent breakfast and eating as you read the paper.
  146. >Mayor Mare won the town election again, it seems.
  147. >A flurry of impatient knocks at your door drags you out of reading the dull paper. It seems like it would be too early for any visitors…
  148. >You squint at the clock on the wall with sleep-blurred eyes and find that it’s only 7 AM, yet the pounding at your door only seems to get louder.
  149. >Who the actual fuck needs you so bad that it can’t wait a bit?
  150. >With a sigh, you stand and slowly trudge to the front of the house where your poor door is being abused.
  151. >As you get closer, you can hear a voice through the wood.
  152. >”Anon! Anon? You alive in there?” a scratchy, feminine voice practically yells from the outside.
  153. >That has to be Dash.
  154. >A twist of the knob later, and you see a very miffed pegasus hovering on your porch.
  155. >”Jeez, what took you so long?” the prismatic pony asks with a frown in a cross of her forelegs.
  156. >It’s WAAAAY too early for this.
  157. “I think a better question is why are you trying to beat down my door? This early, no less?” you shoot back with more venom than you intended.
  158. >Rainbow recoils from the harsh tone, but bounces back quickly enough. “I just… wanted to know if you wanted to hang out?” She asks.
  159. >Too. Early.
  160. “Come back in a couple of hours. I think I feel a post wake up nap coming on,” and with that, you shut the door and leave.
  161. >Of course, that’s going to piss her off, but you can’t bring yourself to care at the moment.
  162. >”Hey! Don’t you ignore me!”
  163. >There’s nothing to do today so you simply spend it with a good book you’ve been meaning to finish.
  164. >No matter how much you try and not to think about it, you can’t help but wonder what tonight is going to bring.
  165. >You’ve already got a pretty good idea.
  166. ________________________________________________________________________________
  167.
  168. >It’s quickly approaching nightfall again, and the behavior of everyone in town still hasn’t changed.
  169. >A few others tried to coax you out of your house, but you denied them.
  170. >That must mean that someone is going to break and enter again and never be charged.
  171. >Considering your first visitor of the morning, you got a pretty good idea of who it's going to be.
  172. >Even after months of living here, things are still pretty wild.
  173. >As the sun begins to dip under the horizon, you stand at your front door with your face screwed up in thought. What to do..?
  174. >They don’t seem like they’re being malicious at all, but you still can’t puzzle out why Twilight and Luna broke into your house to sleep in your bed of all things.
  175. >And what Luna said…
  176. >She was going on and on about atrocities and how you have suffered through what seemed like torture to the alicorn’s eyes.
  177. >You don’t get it.
  178. >Well, you don’t TOTALLY get it. The little bit you together from a Luna’s jargon implies that this is all supposed to be friendly.
  179. >How violating your privacy is friendly, you’re not sure.
  180. >Ponies are weird.
  181. >Looking over your front door one more time, it seems like it’s practically begging to be locked, even though the wooden barrier failed you twice before.  Or did it?
  182. “All this shit is making my head hurt,” you mumble to yourself. “…Eh, it’s not going to keep anyone out.”
  183. >With that, you ignore the lock and do a one-eighty before venturing back to your room.
  184. >Another long day of doing absolutely nothing has worn you out, sort of.
  185. >Kinda.
  186. >Okay, it really hasn’t. You’ve just gotten to be bum lazy nowadays. Even staying awake for twelve hours is trying.
  187. >THANKS CELESTIA.
  188. >Wandering back to your room and to the foot of your bed, you simply fall forward into it and don't bother to cover yourself with a blanket.
  189. >For quite some time, silence is your only companion.
  190. >Just as you were beginning to doze off, the faintest scratching noise at your bedroom window jolts you back to wakefulness.
  191. >Barely inaudible under the noise of the scratching is a pair of voices. Both are speaking in such hushed tones that you can't make out what they are saying.
  192. >Carefully, you turn your head from its position facing right and away from the window to get a better view of what's going on.
  193. >?
  194. >Just as you do, you see a sloppily untwisted coathanger shove itself through the crack of the window and the window frame. A second later, and it turns upwards and gropes for the window latch.
  195. >After a few minutes of watching the wobbly piece of wire and listening to the curses of the one outside, it finally gets a hold on the latch and unlocks your window.
  196. >With a click, it swings open, and you immediately begin to feign sleep.
  197. >What you see next is a surprise.
  198. >Rainbow Dash almost soundlessly flutters in through the open window and lands with a muted 'thud' on the carpeted floor, but that's not what surprises you.
  199. >Following shortly after is the absolute last pony you would expect to be playing cat burglar in the middle of the night.
  200. >As meekly as she does everything else, none other than Fluttershy comes hovering in through the window before touching down next to Dash.
  201. >Now this is something you didn't expect it all. Dash is certainly bold enough to pull a stunt like this, but Fluttershy?
  202. >She had to have been blackmailed into this or something. There's no other way.
  203. >"Man, he's one heavy sleeper," Rainbow whispers while elbowing the yellow pegasus next to her. "I could have sworn he was going to wake up from all the noise that damn hangar was making."
  204. >The athlete snorts quietly. "This would have been way faster if he would've let me come inside this morning."
  205. >Fluttershy says nothing in response, preferring to stare at you with an incredible amount of intensity.
  206. >If it didn't give away that you were actually awake, you probably would have fidgeted under the soulful look.
  207. >"Well,' starts Dash in another whisper, "let's get going. I want to get this over with as fast as possible."
  208. >The prismatic pony tries to take to the air. Keyword "tries".
  209. >Moving fast as a viper, Fluttershy wraps a foreleg around Dash's middle and stops her from getting more than an inch off of the ground.
  210. >Looking up at her friend, the butter colored pony levels her with a look so hard that it would stop a stampede.
  211. >"Rainbow, we can't rush into this," Fluttershy gently chides, "we need to be slow and exact. This is for Anon's sake. You know males from his world are supposed to be strong. It would be a giant blow to his pride if he found out we were doing this."
  212. >Fuck being confused. This is a first class ticket to the crazy train. Flutters taking charge and being the break-in mastermind here?
  213. >What the hell are you missing?
  214. >Rainbow looks like she wants to protest, but any words she has to say die in her mouth when she turns to look at you.
  215. >"He didn't even bother to change into something else to sleep in. He must already be craving a partner subconsciously," Fluttershy 'points out'
  216. >...All aboard...
  217. >Wait, did you really not change out of your day clothes?
  218. >"Now," Fluttershy takes to the air soundlessly and motions with a foreleg for Rainbow to follow, "you take the other side and I'll take this one. Just as we practiced. And remember, slowly and gently."
  219. >Flutters lines herself up parallel to you on the left, while Rainbow flies to your right and does the same. Both seem to be taking extreme care to not let the wind coming off their wings hit you.
  220. >After a few adjustments on their part, the pair of pegasi nod to one another and slowly begin to lower themselves closer to the unoccupied sides of your bed.
  221. >Fluttershy's wing beats are light and controlled. It's easy to hear that she's used to flying slowly and low to the ground.
  222. >Rainbow's, on the other hand, are just a bit uneven. It sounds like she has to stop and correct her position frequently to hit the spot exactly next to you.
  223. >After what seemed like minutes, but is more like ten seconds, the mares are both standing on your bed on either side of you.
  224. >Both slowly lower themselves to their stomachs before ever so slowly inching closer to you.
  225. >You can feel the tiny movements of the bed as they both close in.
  226. >When their furred body's touch your sides, the cold that was blowing in from the open window is instantly warded away.
  227. >You heard of that pegasi had higher body temperatures than other ponies, supposedly to protect them from the cold of high altitudes, but you never knew just how much higher.
  228. >Now you do.
  229. >The pair of ponies still trying to get closer are like cuddly furnaces. The slightest brush with their hides warms you right to the core and chases away any ache in your body.
  230. >Just like with Luna, you can already feel your will to stay awake beginning to drain, but you push that a way to see how the rest of this will play out.
  231. >As if they were made for just this purpose, the mares seem to contour to you and fill in any exposed part of your sides with their irresistibly toasty selves. It's easily volumes better than any blanket you ever had.
  232. >"He seems a lot more relaxed," Fluttershy whispers with a stifled giggle.
  233. >"I'll say," Dash quietly agrees.
  234. >They press themselves a little tighter to you, sending another wave of sleepiness through your form.
  235. >On total, near-asleep impulse, you move your arms out from under yourself and slowly around the pair of pegasi.
  236. >Fluttershy lets out a shrill, but still near inaudible squeak as Dash stifles a startled yelp.
  237. >You pull both of them as close to you as you can while still being gentle, sending delicious warmth up through your rapidly weakening arms.
  238. >A second later, you regret the decision.
  239. >Your bed partners go totally silent. It seems like neither of them are even breathing from how quiet they are, and for a moment you fear you may have overstepped your bounds.
  240. >The sound of feathers against air is the next thing you hear, and you think for sure that both were going to fly away.
  241. >For whatever reason, it makes your heart sink.
  242. >What you didn't expect was to feel soft, almost fluffy feathers to settle across your back.
  243. >Cracking open an eye the absolute smallest amount you can, you see the vague image of the yellow pegasus next to you smiling gently.
  244. >A second later, and a second wingfull of feathers find themselves on your back along with the others, multiplying just how snug you felt.
  245. >Right after, you feel Rainbow's muzzle press itself into the crook of your neck, where the athlete's breath tickles you and the scent of rain enters your nose.
  246. >"Big guy, if you can hear me, then you're deader than dead if anypony finds out I did this..."
  247. >Despite the threat, you let a little smile come to your lips.
  248. >An unearthly soft mass of hair comes down over your legs from the left, sending away the cold creeping up over them. Fluttershy must have moved her tail.
  249. >Just as you think that, the kindly pegasus mimics her friend and nuzzles your face with her irresistibly warm and plush cheek.
  250. >Why? Why must these ponies be so huggable?
  251. >Your resistance to the call of the sandman rapidly begins to slip with how comfortable you are. As you slip faster and faster into dreamland, you catch the last few words of the mares.
  252. >"You know? This ain't so bad..." Rainbow says from your right before she audibly yawns, "This isn't that cool or anything, but I could get used to this..."
  253. >"MmmHmm..." Fluttershy agrees from your other side, already half-asleep.
  254. >With your last waking thought, you agree with both of them.
  255.

  261. (12/5/13)
  262.
  263. (Premise for SiP): Ponies hate being alone, even when they sleep and think the same sentiment extends to Anon. As such, a different pony comes to sleep in his bed with him each night.
  264.
  265. >Another day, another... another...
  266. >Okay, you got absolutely nothing done today, but that's fine. The lack of accomplishment certainly didn't diminish the daily excitement that comes with living in Ponyville.
  267. >The sun has long since set and it's about time to hit the hay.
  268. >Well, there are some things you need to do first. Like turn out the lights.
  269. >All of them.
  270. >Ever since Twilight and the other elements tamed Everfree, and creatures long forgotten have been seen rising from its depths to rejoin the modern world. The most species was actually a pony subtype.
  271. >Mothponies.
  272. >Skittish things they are, always darting about and losing their minds over the slightest fright. You daresay they make even Fluttershy look like the epitome of calm.
  273. >Of course, some managed to push aside their jumpy nature and join society. You've even met a few.
  274. >A loud crash from the den of your home pulls you out of your reverie. You sigh when you realize that you have forgotten to turn off the lamp in there.
  275. >Another thing that set the Mothponies apart from their cousins is the total disregard for personal space in the presence of electric lighting.
  276. >It's days like this that you consider getting a bug zapper, you think ruefully, only to shoot down the cruel thoughts and admonish yourself silently a moment later.
  277.
  278. "Anyone there?" you call towards the den, already knowing the culprit.
  279. >"N-no! Nopony here! I-I mean... um..."
  280. >You just shake your head and head for the origin of the voice.
  281. >Just before you enter the room, distressed squeaks and the fluttering of light wings meets your ears.
  282. >Once in the den, you find that nothing in the cozy room is out of place, save for the open window and the bright lamp by your reading chair on the ground, turned to its side.
  283. "Roslin? Roslin, come out," you call, folding your arms and waiting patiently.
  284. >For a few moments, it seems like your call is going to go unanswered until you hear the pitter-patter of muffed hooves.
  285. >Right above your head.
  286. >You snap your head upward and are met with a set of wide, orange eyes hardly an inch from your face.
  287. >"Uh... um..." the Mothpony above you nervously stutters with a few twitches of her garden tiger patterned wings.
  288. "Having fun up th-"
  289. >"Eep!"
  290. >And just like that, she loses her grip on the ceiling.
  291. >Oh this same old song and dance again...
  292. >With practiced ease, you hold your arms out and catch the light mothpony before she can tumble to the ground, sending bits of moth dust out of her long fur with a quiet "pomf".
  293. "You know, if you want inside, you don't need to break in.”
  294.
  295. >”I-I didn’t break in!” Roslin denies as you turn and carry her out of the den, “I mean,  I didn’t mean to! I saw the light on through your window and just sort of…”
  296. >If you can get away with it, you would have snorted. Roslin lives on the other side of town.
  297. “Really now?” You ask with a raised eyebrow, making the mothpony sink into her chest fur like a turtle would its shell, “I know you, Rosy, you have more self-control than that.”
  298. >She sputters at the nickname and tries vainly to cover the reddening of her ears with their long tufts.
  299. “Now, I think you need to be going home. We all have things to be doing in the morning.”
  300. >”What? Wait! No!”
  301. >She struggles in your arms, forcing you to put her down lest you accidentally hurt her.
  302. >”Anon! I can’t go back out there!”
  303. >Every time she uses this argument.
  304. “Oh? And why not?”
  305. >And every time…
  306. >Roslin looks up at you, eyes slowly filling with unshed tears. “It’s dark outside…”
  307. >…She wins.
  308. >Your shoulders begin to slump and the will to fight back is slowly replaced with sympathy.
  309. >Really, you shouldn’t give up so easy. But…
  310. >You turn and begin walking, knowing that the mothpony is sure to follow.
  311. >A glance back shows you that she’s doing so with a grin, but that’s not what draws your attention.
  312. >The large, ugly crease in one of her beautiful wings is what your eyes first land on. She got that the first time you managed to force her out…
  313.
  314. >You could do nothing afterwards but watch her limp home in the dark. Just thinking about it makes your chest ache.
  315. “Are there any other lights on?” you distractedly ask over your shoulder.
  316. >”None that I can see.”
  317. >Finally, your rather plain looking bedroom door comes into view.
  318. >Roslin takes to the air behind you with a few flutters of her light wings, easily rising over your head before coming back down in front of you, where her wispy tail brushes your nose and tickles.
  319. >She takes the doorknob and opens it with a twist. Then she looks over to you, her face a mask of expectation and thinly veiled excitement where it held nervousness just a moment ago.
  320. >Seems like women keep their bipolar tendencies across species.
  321. >You walk into the darkened bedchamber just like so many times before, and not even bothering to change your clothes, fall face first into your large and very soft bed with a relieved grunt.
  322. >An instant later, an orange blur follows you in and settles directly to your side, emitting adoring squeaks all the while.
  323. >No matter how many times you hear the sound, it will always put a smile on your face.
  324. >One of your hands wanders to your nightstand where it turns on the alarm clock, while the other snakes down and grabs the discarded blanket by the foot of the bed
  325. >With one flick of your second arm, the blanket goes falling over the rest of the way off of the bed.
  326. >With a warm mothpony, you won’t need it.
  327.
  328. >Now that the invitation was totally clear, Roslin inches closer and settles her silky-soft body against you with a content sigh.
  329. >Truly, there was almost no way to describe unbelievably rich texture of mothpony fur.
  330. >It was like taking the most luxurious hides of only the most delicate creatures and combining them together into an eternally fresh coat that would never degrade.
  331. >The tufts of a mothpony would separate almost like liquid when touched, letting every impossibly fine and forever cool hair run over the skin of the one touching them.
  332. >And it was far from common to know what such a feeling is like considering the shy nature of the mothponies.
  333. >And yet here you are, just some random man, and yet you’ve been allowed to feel such a thing for the better part of a month.
  334. >Never will you understand Roslin’s fascination with you.
  335. >Just as you think that, you feel her warm head rest itself in the crook of your neck, where her mane runs over your cheek.
  336. >Self-consciousness springs up within you. Will Roslin mind the rough stubble on your face? Compared to what she must feel all day, your face may as well have been sandpaper.
  337. >Alas, if she minded, then it did not show.
  338. >You look down at the orange coated pony, whose vermilion eyes are closed already as she appears to be drifting off. In a way, it’s touching that she trusts you so much that she drops her ingrained skittishness.
  339.
  340. >Something gradually overcomes you as you look down at the mothpony who quite literally flew into your life, filling you with an urge you would never felt before.
  341. >Slowly, your arms move on their own, encircling the sleeping orange pony with such delicacy that she doesn’t so much as stir.
  342. >They finally come to a stop when your hands meet again, but then your arms move once more, this time pulling Roslin close to you as you turn to lie on your side.
  343. >The full sensation of her silky coat against your front almost paralyzes you from the overload of feeling, yet you keep pulling her tighter to yourself until nothing could possibly force itself between you and Roslin.
  344. >In her sleep, a smile filled with pure joy and adoration grows upon her face. A moment later, it’s hidden when she unconsciously presses her head under your chin.
  345. >The only thing you can hear in the silence of the room is Roslin’s gently beating heart.
  346. >Your own eyes quickly grow heavy as the mothpony’s fur captures every bit of heat between you and her and refuses to let go of it.
  347. >Had you drifted off any faster, you would have missed the impossibly faint “I love you…”
  348. >Oh Roslin, why did you have to go and complicate things?
  349. >That’s all you get to think before blissful dreams overtake you.
