  1. >’What a strange day.’
  2. “No joke.”
  3. >With a jaw cracking yawn, you settle yourself between Okunnigr’s steel grey forelegs and lean against her chest, soaking up the dragoness’ generous heat.
  4. >A good thing too, it was somewhat cold outside and there was nowhere large enough to fit your dragon.
  5. >A gentle rumble rolls through her body as one of her forelegs moves up to and settles in your lap, providing you with even more of her warmth.
  6. >Okunnigr’s large head settles in front of you with the left side of her face turned toward you, letting you see her large, yellow eye.
  7. “Do you think we did it, Kunni?” You ask, more to yourself than to your dragon, “Did we really avoid that war?”
  8. >She says nothing for a moment. ‘I believe so. No matter how far stretch my senses, I cannot detect the child and the blue one, the tragic child and the red one, or the mad king and the gargantuan one.’
  9. >A snort comes from her, along with a jet of gray flames that scorch the grass in front of her. ‘As much as I would have enjoyed rending the empire asunder for their countless sins, I am thankful we went with your plan and avoided any unnecessary heartache.’
  10. >You know exactly what Okunnigr is talking about. Countless times did you and her risk death just trying to AVOID being dragged into the conflict. The thought of losing Kunni…
  11. >Just thinking about it twists your stomach into a knot.
  12. > As such, you finally became fed up and fabricated a spell so complicated it would leave elven enchanters green with envy.
  13. >The idea behind it all was simple; just will yourself and your bondmate to a place where conflict was a rarity.
  14. >And it worked… Just not as expected.
  15. >Across time and space you were flung, and your final destination was a land filled with magic equines.
  16. >’It could have been worse,’ your dragon reminds you.
  17. >You snort and amusement and look at her large, sparkling eye.
  18. “Weren’t you the one complaining about having so much food around, yet not getting so much as a bite to eat?”
  19. >She growls and rolls her exposed eye. ‘Normally my food isn’t so understanding and willing to offer assistance. I can overlook these ‘pony’s place in the natural order under such circumstances.’
  20. >You smile and rub a hand over the back of the paw in your lap as comfortable silence overtakes the clearing. You are the first to break it.
  21. “Hehe. It’s almost surreal. We have all the time in the world now, you and I.”
  22. >Okunnigr’s lips twitch as she raises her head to look at you with both eyes.
  23. >With a content hum, she brings her head to yours in a gentle nuzzle. ‘I know. Glorious, is it not?’
  24. >Your smile grows as you bring both hands up and hold her head, letting you feel the bubbling affection from her that much better.
  25. “Kunni?”
  26. >’Yes?’
  27. “I love you.”
  28. >Another hum, quieter this time.
  29. >‘And I, you.’

  31. >“Spike?”
  32. >The little dragon lets out a short yelp as he almost falls from his perch by the window.
  33. >Grabbing at his racing heart, Spike turns to find Twilight looking at him with some concern, the book in her telekinetic grip all but forgotten.
  34. >”Spike, are you all right?” Twilight asks, “You’ve been really distant today.”
  35. >”I’m fine,” he says, looking back at the window. “I’ve just been thinking about that new dragon and the… What’s he called? Hyooman? Who flew into town today.”
  36. >The mention of the unusual visitors puts a small grin on Twilight’s face. “Oh! Them! Yes, Anonymous and Okunnigr certainly interesting. Did you know that Anon can use magic without a horn? I must ask him how-“
  37. >Twilight stops midsentence as she realizes that Spike is not listening and has instead turned back to looking out the window. What could the reason b-
  38. >The grin that was on Twilight’s face comes back, looking distinctly slyer than it was before. “Ohhhh, I see which one you’re more interested in. I wonder what Rarity would think?”
  39. >THAT got Spike’s attention.
  40. >The young dragon whirls back around from the library window, wide-eyed and red in the face. “But-but-but it’s not like that! I really do like Rarity, but Okunnigr…”
  41. >Spike’s face goes from panicked to lovestruck in hardly a second. “She’s soooo pretty! Did you see how her scales shined in the sunlight? Or how big her wings were? And she breaths GRAY fire! I’ve never heard of a dragon doing that!”
  42. >The unicorn can’t help but giggle at her surrogate brother’s rather obvious infatuation. “Well, maybe you should talk with her while we get her and Anon situated into town tomorrow. Anon said they need to find somewhere permanent to stay.”
  43. >Spike’s mind goes blank at the notion. Tomorrow? He has less than one night to think of what to say?! How could fate be so cruel? How in the world is he going to woo the beautiful dragoness when he’s under that kind of pressure?!
  44. >No no, it’s all good. Okunnigr maybe one beautiful dragon, and has probably shot down tons of other dragons wanting a chance with her, but that sort of thinking is never got anyone anywhere. A plan of action is needed.
  45. >Twilight lets out another giggle as she watches the emotions play across Spike’s face before he finally settles on determination.
  46. >Oh this is too adorable. She’ll have to tell the girls tomorrow.
  47. >Idly, Twilight wonders what Rarity’s reaction will be.
  48. >As Spike heads upstairs with a piece of parchment and quill in his little claws, Twilight replays the days events in her head.
  49. >Dragon flies over the town, town panics, she and Spike confront the dragon only to find it is not alone. The Ape-like creature on the dragon promises that they’re not there to make trouble. She sends a letter to Celestia, who replies and gives her free reign over the decision-making in this new situation.
  50. >It got even stranger as well, as the dragon, Okunnigr’s, behavior doesn’t totally match that of an adult dragon. Sure, she had the subtle air of superiority and little regard for ponies, but she treated Anon like the creator’s gift to the world.
  51. >Hopefully all the confusion will be cleared up by the morning.
