There's nothing to worry about, you said!" >Rarity's eyes narrow as she glares at the Republic ships floating by the asteroid field you decided to hide in. >"The patrol schedule I acquired clearly said that there wouldn't be any ships in the area right now!" "Acquired? Did you buy it or steal it?" >"I bought it, but I have half a mind to go right back down there and give that Cathar what for!" "Oh, the fuck you will! We are NOT taking our time and pissing off any client that pays THIS much!" >A hundred thousand credits? You can finally afford to fix up this scrap heap of a ship. >You switch on the half-busted cloaking device, muttering a silent prayer that the damn thing doesn't crap out like last time. >You ease the ship away from the asteroid you had been hiding behind, slipping past the Republic patrol. >Rarity sighs in relief as the patrol's blips on the radar disappear off-screen. >"Hmm, who do you think this mystery buyer of ours is? An eccentric collector? An archaeologist, maybe?" "Damned if I know, but carting around Sith relics sure as shit ain't right. Who knows what kind of curses or junk they have?" >The Theelin tuts and pats you on the shoulder. >"Anonymous, always so superstitious. There's no such thing as curses, darling, we've been over this." "Yeah? And you haven't had to pick up shit like this and drag it halfway 'cross the galaxy before, have you?" >"No, I suppose not. Still, you ha-" >Rarity places a hand over her mouth as she yawns. >"Goodness, I guess I was more tired than I thought. I'm going to bed, do wake me up when we arrkive." >She walks back to her 'quarters,' i.e. a bed she set up in the cargo hold, far away enough to not hear your mumbling. "Wake you up with a dick in your ass..." >"I await with bated breath, then." >Choking on air is a skill you've mastered since meeting the Theelin.   ~~~   >"Hmm, I've never heard of any planet like this in this sector. Why, it's not even on our maps!" "Our maps aren't exactly the most detailed in the galaxy, ya know." >Rarity sticks her tongue at you before turning back to the orange planet you're currently orbiting. "What I'm not keen on are these instructions. Apparently, there aren't any functioning landing pads here, but it says that the landing will be 'taken care of.'" >THAT worries you. >Any kind of improvised landing would tear the ship apart. >"Well, we can see if they'll shuttle us somewhere to go shopping after we crash, darling." >She pats your shoulder as she sits down and buckles in. "...Alright, put your head between your knees and get ready to kiss: Beginning atmospheric re-entry."   >Several minutes later, you're skimming along the surface towards the rendezvous coordinates. >You switch on your earpiece and message Rarity, who's gone to the cargo hold to make sure the relics are still secure after the rough re-entry. "Looks like you might've been right on that archaeologist guess. Whole lots of ruins here." >"Of course I was right, a lady's intuition is never wrong." "Yeah, yeah. We're getting close to the coordinates, but I don't see any suitable landing spots. Might want to come up here to help look." >"Coming, coming~" >A few seconds later, Rarity's sitting in the seat next to you, searching for a landing spot. >"...I don't see anything. Are you sure this is even the right planet?" >You swat the back of her head, earning a venomous glare. "Yes, I'm sure. Look, I've had a bad feeling about this job before we left, maybe we should ju--" >Your sentence is cut off as the entire ship just stops in mid-air. "Gah, what the fuck!?" >You stare at the control panel in shock as, one by one, the ship's systems turn off. >"Anonymous." "The hell is this? Everything's turning off and- Why is the landing gear going down?" >"Anonymous!" >You work like a man possessed, trying any and everything to restore the ship's systems. >Rarity grabs your head, turning it towards the view outside. >"Anonymous, look!" >You stare, slack-jawed, at what you see. >A lone figure standing in front of the mouth of a cave, holding its hands out towards the ship. >But the figure itself isn't what has you worried, no. >No, what has you worried are the black robes the figure is wearing... And the glint you saw at its waist. >You begin to tremble. >Your heart starts to race. >You can barely form the one word you wish you didn't have to say. "Sith."   ~~~   >You and Rarity shakily walk down the ramp of your ship after a Force-assisted landing. >Upon getting closer to the Sith, you notice that it's a red female Twi'lek, who has been watching the two of you impatiently. >"You're late." >You swallow and put on as brave a face as you can muster. "We were given subpar information... Not from you, of course." >Rarity squeezes your hand and you realize, horrified, that you've forgotten something important. >"My apprentice will retrieve the artifacts at a later time. For now, the two of you will follow me." >She turns around and begins walking into the ruins, not waiting for either of you. >The Theelin hesitantly coughs into her hand. >"I-if you just hand us the payment, we'll be on our way and you'll never have to see us again." >The Twi'lek stops dead in her tracks and you hope that Rarity didn't just kill you both. >"Let me rephrase that: You will either come with me or you will never make it off of this planet alive." >She continues walking and the two of you quickly fall in step behind her. >As you make your way down, further into the ruins, you get a gnawing feeling in the back of your head saying that being here is a bad idea. >You're not exactly disinclined to agree with it. >You eventually make your way to a large, open room, where a peach-colored Zabrak is barking orders at a group of... Acolytes? Initiates? >Whatever they are, they're not impressed. >In fact, a Rattataki steps forward defiantly. >"And just why should we listen to you, huh? Just because she chose you, you think you're suddenly better than us? I ough-" >He never gets to finish what he was saying as, with the flick of her wrist, the Zabrak telekinetically smashes him against the far wall. >"I think myself your better because I AM your better. Now, let me repeat myself lest the rest of you also prove to be hard of hearing." >She takes a step forward, causing the group to quickly step back. >"I have been charged with instructing you in utilizing the Force to grasp your futures. As such, you will do what I say when I say it." >When she continues barking orders, you quickly catch up with Rarity and the Sith. >Rarity looks relieved at your return, once again grabbing your hand. >"Do not fall behind again, human." >Even though she's in front of you, you can feel the Twi'lek's eyes burning holes in the back of your head. >After several more minutes of walking, the three of you reach where the ruins open back into the open air and stop. >Looking around, you see several humans and aliens dueling each other to the point of collapse. >How the fuck did you not see this from the air? >"This is why you were hired: The Sith Empire is returning and, if you agree to it, both of you will aid in its return." >"And if we refuse...?" >That's what you like/hate about Rarity. >She always asks the questions you're afraid to. >The lightsaber at the Sith's waist floats into her hand. "Got it." >"Take your time." >She knows damn well what you want to choose. >You look at Rarity and she nods her head. >You're both on the same page, then. "We'll work for you... For a price, of course." >If she kills you for that, at least you'll die as you lived. >Being a greedy fuck. >However, the Sith smiles, catching you off-guard. >"Of course. I can assure you that what you were paid today is but a pittance compared to what you will be paid from now on." >You take her outstretched hand in yours and shake it. >What have you gotten yourself into?
