She’d thrown your ‘Happy First Month in Equestria’ party for you in the little loft room Applejack had allowed you in her barn.   >Rarity, being the only tailor in town had provided you clothes when you first arrived, free of charge at first. You’d tried to pay her once Applejack paid you your wages, but she refused. >Then there was Fluttershy, whom you would consider your closest confidant and friend outside of Twilight after all the time you had been in Equestria.  She had confided in you so many of her own secrets. She had actually begun to warm up and stop being so goddamn timid. >Rainbow Dash and you had never seen eye to eye at first. You two at first hadn’t clicked, but you’d warmed up to her after you were out on one of your walks at night. Behind the tough as nails exterior, she was a deep and caring pony. >Also your first Marefriend in Equestria, temporarily at least. >You had both decided to break it off due to her fears of being excluded from the Wonderbolts for fucking around with what was essentially an alien life form. >Twilight, being much too busy with her royal duties, was at first unable to be considered a friend, she was friendly, but you barely knew her from the few times you had seen her outside of her official duties. >That was before she needed a bodyguard. >Well a “bodyguard” >You had been in training to be a police officer before you left Earth, so you knew a thing or two about fighting. >Twilight had wanted to make a high impression on the Griffin kingdom on her diplomatic mission. >So she chose to take you as her bodyguard.   >On the trip, you’d gotten to know her very well while you two were not in public, and then upon your return, she had kept you on her staff. >She said she felt safer with you around, not that she’d had any attempts made on her life while you were in her employ. >Never the less, you were eager to jump at the chance. >Higher pay, government benefits, a badass looking sword, and free roam of Twilight’s castle, not to mention three luxury meals a day and access to Twilight at pretty much all hours of the day. Plus travel to Canterlot regularly and meetings with Luna and Celestia themselves. >Plus your loyalty was considered unwavering due to the fact had she not found you, you would have died out in those fucking woods. >They weren’t wrong either, after you had been around her long enough, you did have some strong feelings towards her. >Mostly loyalty, as you were with her or within arm’s reach of her for extended periods of time. >But in the past few months you’d noticed her…finer…features… >The nights you had spent in your room alone, fantasizing about her. >It could easily be said it was just attachment from being around her so much, but you felt it was more. >The fact that you were more of a friend and confidant to her than just another guard. >She always asked for your personal opinion on her actions, would come to you if she couldn’t rationalize something, and sometimes even asked you to just be near her to calm her nerves.   >Other times, it was just resting in the library and reading with her, or taking tea with her, or receiving company from her friends and family on rare occasions. >Even when you two were alone it felt more like companionship than work. >Many a night had been spent with her, talking with her as she worked on royal business or just on some of her experiments until sunrise. >The magic of this world fascinated you, and Twilight was always more than happy to explain things to you as best she could. >You’d never had a friend like Twilight, or one that you spent so much time with. >However, you knew the fallout of a scandal between you and Twilight would be disastrous. >Simply put, anything more than you had with her now was out of the question. >Much to your intense displeasure. >All of these things aside though, you felt yourself brimming with excitement as you awaited her return. >She had to leave to Canterlot for urgent business, and had elected to go alone. >While you did not like her going alone, you accepted it as her giving you some downtime. >You had spent the few days out of uniform, and catching up with everyone in town, walking the countryside and looking upon the beauty of the world outside the castle. >You had even come to consider coming to this world being one of the best things to ever happen to you. >Today she returned, and the hour was drawing near. >You had already dressed yourself in full uniform, simply out of anticipation.   >The call of trumpets roused you and your fellow guards from your rest and you all came to attention. >After movement had stopped, you paced the formation eyeing each soldier. >Everything was ready. >Taking your place next to her throne, you stand at attention as the doors to the throne room open. >Twilight entered, and stopped next to her throne before sitting. >You began to notice her mane was disheveled, her eyes drooping, and walked with a tired gait. >She plopped her rear down onto the throne and looked around. > “All dismissed. Leave me.” She said in a weak rasp. >You blinked a few times as the guards left. > “That meant you as well Anon…go to your quarters…” >Something was wrong. “Is everything alright Twilight? You aren’t acting yourse-” > “I SAID LEAVE ME ANON! THAT’S AN ORDER!” She shouted at you with enough force to garner a flinch from you. >Taken aback by her sudden mood change, you nod and quietly leave the room. >As you shut the door, you could hear a sob escape the room. >As you exited, you saw her friends gathered around the door. >They all had looks of dumbstruck awe on their faces. >Something must have gone horribly wrong for her to be like this…
