Marriage, such a funny tradition. If you think about it, its just paying a lot of money to have a old guy say you can sleep together. Honestly, I would never want to be married even if it was at gunpoint, which almost seems like it more and more each and every day. Thing was tough, I don’t like many girls, I mean yes, I have a few friends who happen to be girls, and I'm starting to like my brothers girlfriend more and more each day... no, not a good idea, that is his girl, i'd never impose.
But she was a nice lady, has her head on straight, going to college, wants to be a doctor, you know, the generic perfect girl you only find in crap written fan fictions made by fat asses in their mothers basements who only see girls in the form of internet porn. But she was different, she was a strong one, saving Kyle from many pits of life he could never climb out of alone.
The two have been going out for a few years now, although the wedding may put some ideas in Kyle's head... Well in the very least, she is not coming, family only. Kyle was almost going to argue about this until Mitch insisted she did not come, saying, and I quote “I might get jealous” to which Destiny smacked him across the back of the head, arguably being the hardest we have laughed in years. Yea, Kyle and Mitch are like two peas in a pod.
Pulling up to the wedding area was almost magical, the morning dew still drying up. Mitch had the right idea when planning this thing, a exquisite view of the water, A perfectly white private beach, ambient noise of the city gone to be replaced with the halcyon tone of nature.
“This is amazing Grey! Look at this place!” Kyle was saying with such energy. His eyes were darting around, as if they were trying to drink in every pixel of this landscape from heaven. I looked around as well, taking it all in, trying to remember how long it has been since i have seen so much beauty in such a small area. No memories came to mind, so, leaving Kyle to his little land of wonders, i walk up and enter the building ahead of me. the structure was no less magnificent as the land around it.
A mostly curved building painted white, a bell tower at its tip. The building was a rent-out type of business, “Changing to the needs of the user”, or so it is said on its info card i was shown when I looked this bad boy up, wanting to know directions to get to it and other info. Turns out this place has been used for 17 wedding receptions, 15 baby showers, 13 community projects, and some sort of convention , for what this convention was about I do not know.
Well, that is good enough of a quick look over for now, test drove the suit, now we wait, only a day until showtime, but still, a time to wait it is. After looking over the place, I find Kyle and escort him back to the car, and we are off, to the hotel, where we will be staying until the wedding. Kyle got a little peeved at me wanting to leave so soon, but he came with me anyways, such a fellow he is. I hope he enjoys being the best man as much as i think he will. Would be a shame if it turned out horribly, but hey, stuff like that only happens in books. No need to worry about that then to the hotel we go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It has been about 24 hours since we arrived at the hotel, Just getting back in our suits and getting prepared, Waiting for the noon mark to send us off, leaving me with some time to kill. There is not that much to do around here, being we are staying in a lower standard establishment, no side events set up, anything that can be done is not meant for us. With this, I wake up Kyle, who was sleeping up until now, i tell him where i’m going, and then I leave, already fully attired. I sneak away from the door and began my journey throughout the building to the dining hall, trying to avoid other people; It’s too damn early to be sociable The place was already filling up, still serving breakfast I head over to the table and begin to serve myself.
I grab my plate filled with all the breakfast essentials, sausage and eggs and toast galore, noting the lack of people taking meats and the lack of fruits. I sit at a table and begin digging in, letting my mind and eyes wander to the nearby tables. Lots of people piling in now, grabbing plates... lots of apples being eaten, 3 bushels already polished off, Oh look someone decided to grab some sausage, he looks a tad iffy about it but im sur- oh god did... did he just eat it then throw up? I look at my plate, then take a bite of the sausage. It’s damn well delicious, why is that guy over there having an episode over it. The guy was carted off and the hall clears out, and, I still don’t know why I did this, but I found myself over to that mans plate, and without a second thought, i picked up the uneaten side of his sausage and took a bite. It was perfectly perfect, so what was his issue?
I back away from the plate and rush out with the rest of the people, who all seem to be clutching apples at their sides; so that is where all the fruit went. I take a moment to look around at the slightly agitated crowd and i begin to notice some strange details. I recognized some of these people, and they were looking... different. They were looking paler, their hair longer and a bit discolored. They also keep wobbling on their feet and scrunching up their hands. God, something was going on with these people, but what could it be? sickness? I did not want to hang around with these people for much longer, might catch what they have, so i dodge pass them and make for the stairs, taking them two at a time, until i make it back to my room, slamming the door behind me and sitting on the bed.
This startles Kyle awake who then proceeds to poke me with questions like what the hell was going on. I tried to answer but found i don’t even have a clue to what is going on. I simply make up a bullshit story how i thought someone was going to mug me, and Kyle simply stared at me before letting it slide and laying back down. Maybe that is the way I should go, sleep it off, I mean, we still have some time before we need to head out. I look over to Kyle, my wonderful pony loving brother, and think how lucky he is to be a best man. Such a lucky guy. I lay my head down and close my eyes, making sure to do a mental check if i had set an alarm. I drifted to sleep soon after.
