- >Man is your bed comfy.
- >There is no way you’d ever want to get out of it.
- >But your alarm has other ideas.
- >The blasted thing rings, sending you into a panic, making you fall out of bed for the 3rd consecutive day in a row.
- >You look over to check the time.
- >6:30 AM
- >Just about right.
- >Early to bed, early to rise and all that.
- >It’s just something you’ve lived your life by.
- >You don your new robe that Rarity had made for you as a house-warming gift.
- >It’s hella warm, and has your name embroidered on it as well.
- >She told you to come by today to pick up a few more outfits she had been working on.
- >That p0ny really did live up to her element of generosity.
- >Hard to believe that party was three days ago already.
- >You’ve been doing a few odds and ends for your new friends the past few days, but if you’re going to survive efficiently, you’re going to need a steady job.
- >You’ve also been taking the CMC to school every morning now.
- >It’s a nice workout, plus you love spending time with the little ones.
- >They are just so full of energy.
- >They must be a handful at home.
- >You head downstairs to brew some morning coffee.
- >Sure it isn’t as strong as the stuff back home, but it still gives you a much needed dose of caffeine.
- >As you walk downstairs, you see the sun rising through the Everfree again.
- >Blah, blah so beautiful and majestic, you say this every morning.
- >But something seems...
- >Off
- >You can quite place the feeling, but it looks as if there’s a strange shimmering coming from deep in the forest.
- >Maybe you’ll ask Twilight for a book about the forest.
- >You finish pondering what was probably nothing, and pour yourself a nice big cup of Joe, and grab a donut from the pantry.
- >Sure donuts weren’t healthy for breakfast, but with the exercise regimen you’ve been putting in, they can’t be that bad.
- >You bite into the pastry, spilling its delicious custard innards all over the kitchen counter.
- >So good.
- >It’s nice to be able to sit down in the morning and enjoy the sunrise.
- >You finish the donut, and down the rest of your coffee.
- >You place them in the sink and go about your morning rituals.
- >Goddamn magical shaving.
- >There’s just something about it you never liked.
- >It wasn’t the lack of a close shave.
- >Maybe it was the lack of shaving foam?
- >It was probably the smell of burning hair that filled the room afterwards.
- >After your shower, you grab the clothes you were able to clean, and head off to Rarity’s place.
- >Time to get your new duds.
- >Meanwhile...
- >A certain Princess sits in the throne room, her morning duties done; she awaits her council and the daily schedule.
- >She sighs and takes a sip of her morning coffee.
- >Something she has been drinking far too much of.
- >The late nights haven’t helped either.
- >Ever since that apparition came about, she hasn’t been able to relax.
- >She’s even got her Student researching for anything of interest as well.
- >Her eyes heavy, she leans on the side of the throne, closing her eyes for a few minutes.
- >She quickly nods off, entering a peaceful dream world.
- >The curtains drew closed, and the warmth of the sun faded from the room.
- >The light of the sun gone from the room, she shuddered in her sleep.
- “It’s been so long since I’ve walked these halls...” a ghostly voice says.
- “Things certainly have changed quite a bit in my absence...”
- >The Princess tosses and turns in her sleep.
- “The old throne room lacks a certain; Charm.”
- >Suddenly a thunderous *Crack* sounds through the room.
- >The Princess jumps awake, horn flaring with magical energy.
- >She stares at the smouldering corner the once was the eastern wall.
- >”Carry on my Wayward Sun” is etched into the stone.
- >The furniture underneath the wall caught fire, although the stone will prevent the flames from spreading.
- >She calls for her aid, who gallops into the room.
- >”Princess, what the buck is going on?” he says, breaking his normal composure.
- “NOTHING. You will speak of this to no one.” She commands “Cancel all of my appointments for today and tomorrow. I will be unavailable to anyone but my Sister, and my student. I also want you to send for Anonymous, he is currently living in P0nyville.”
- >The aid nods his head, and runs out of the room.
- >The Princess quickly douses the flames with her magic.
- >The flames die with a resounding hiss.
- >All that’s left of the couch that was resting there is a smoldering husk.
- >The flames have scorched the walls.
- >She walks over to the window overlooking the garden.
- >She looks for that one statue.
- >Even though he’s frozen in stone, you can still hear him laughing in your head.
- >She glared at the statue.
- >Grabbing her cup, she took another long draw of the sweet, sweet liquid drug.
- >It was going to be a long day.
- >Back in p0nyville...
- “ABSOLUTELY NOT.”
- >”Oh but Anon, it has YOU written ALL OVER IT!” Rarity says holding the garment up.
- “Nu-uh no WAY. I can do magic, but wearing THESE? There is NO WAY.” You say, still shocked.
- >”Oh...” she pouts “You don’t like it then?”
- >You could see the tears welling up in her eyes.
- >Bloody mares.
- “No, it’s nice, but...” you say, forcing a smile.
- >”Then you will HAVE to try it on!” she says, sliding the robe over top of your shirt.
- >It’s a bright blue robe. Literally something out of an old cartoon.
- >”There, isn’t it Fabulous?” she says.
- >You can’t believe you’re wearing this.
- >”Oh I almost forgot!” she says, levitating a matching pointy wizard hat onto your head.
- “No.” You say, grabbing the tip of the pointy hat.
- “Just. NO.”
- >”Oh alright, but do you like it?” she says her eyes growing wide.
- >God damn you can’t resist that face.
- “Yes. It’s awesome. Thanks.” You say lying through your teeth.
- >”I’m sorry Anonymous; it’s all I could through together on such short notice, what with all the other orders I’m trying to fill right now. I should have the rest of your order finished soon.” She says, walking over to her sewing machine.
- >”Now if you’ll excuse me deary, I must be getting back to work.” She says starting up the machine.
- >And just like that you find yourself outside the boutique.
- >In a blue wizard robe, with a blue wizard hat in your hand.
- >What else do you have to do today?
- >You’ve already dropped the girls off at school, and you’re good for groceries.
- >Maybe you should pay a visit Twilight and Spike.
- >You still have to make it up to the little guy.
- >And you know exactly how you’re going to do it.
- >You brought along your trusty box of SUPER CHALK, and you guess this hat would help too.
- >Heck, who knows?
- >Maybe you’ll be able to get Twilight to lend a hand with your little experiment.
- >God knows she loves trying to force them on you.
- >You start making your way towards town
- >But before you go, you take one last look at the forest.
- >Maybe it would be a better idea to try there rather than in the middle of town where there are lots of flammable objects.
- >Scratch that
- >MANY flammable objects.
- >You arrive in the market and see Applejack selling her wares at a cart.
- >You knew she was going to be in town today
- >Maybe you should pay her a visit.
- >You wave to her as she finishes helping a customer, and she returns the gesture.
- >”What in tarnation are you wearin Anon?” she says, holding back a snicker.
- “Oh,” you say, realising that you’re still wearing the robe Rarity made “Rarity made this especially for me. It’s kind of the only other thing I have at the moment. How’s business going?”
- >”Ah not bad sugercube. That dress your wearing sure is mighty fancy, and form fitting too. Care to sample the goods?” she says with a wink
- “Sure.” You say, completely oblivious to her intentions.
- >You grab an apple from the bin, and toss two bits her way.
- >Taking a bite of the apple, you notice her bite her lower lip.
- >What’s with that mare?
- “Wow, this is the best apple I’ve ever had!” you say, taking another bite.
- >”Aw shucks Hun, we’ve got better ones back at the farm, but you’ll only get those ones from me.” She says eyeing you.
- “Thanks, I’ll make sure to stop by later and pick up a bunch. I’ve got to go see Twilight, say Hi to Big Mac for me” you say walking away.
- >”Will do mister magic man. Ya’ll come back now ya hear?” she says, watching you as you walk away.
- >What a nice p0ny.
- >Your glad many of the local residents have come to accept you as part of the town now.
- >Sure you still get some weird looks now and then, but nothing ever serious.
- >The weirdest thing to happen was a mint colored mare staring at your hands while you were purchasing a few groceries yesterday.
- >She was quickly pulled away by another cream colored mare, before you could talk to her.
- >You didn’t think too much of it.
- >The familiar tree house quickly comes into view.
- >You knock on the oak door, and open it.
- >The familiar chime of the doorbell welcomes you, along with Twilight sorting a few books on the table.
- >”Oh hey Anon, how are you?” she says, not looking up from her task.
- “Hey, not bad, could I talk to you for a minute?” you say, looking around for Spike.
- >”Sure, what’s the matter?” she says looking a bit concerned as she walks over to you.
- >”OH WOW,” she exclaims once she notices your robes “Did Rarity make this for you?”
- “Yes, I am a wizard. You can stop beholding my robes now.” You say as she pats the fabric of your man-dress.
- >God she looks tired.
- “Are you feeling alright?” you ask “You look like you haven’t slept in days.”
- >”Oh it’s just a bit of late night research, that’s all. I’m fine. Was that the reason you were checking in?”
- “One of the reasons actually. Is Spike around?”
- >She looks a bit puzzled. “Yeah, he’s upstairs. Why?
- “Well I needed his help with something, and it’s about time I try and make good on what I did to him.”
- >”Oh Anon, I don’t know...” she says
- >Speak of the devil; Spike comes walking down the stairs carrying a massive stack of books.
- >S: “Hey Twilight where do you wa-“he begins to say.
- >He’s so overburdened with books he misses a step and starts tumbling down the stairs.
- >The books go flying all over the place.
- >As quick as lightning, you focus on the most important object.
- >Instead of repeatedly falling down the stairs, Spike simply floats in place.
- >The books go tumbling down the stairs, knocking over a table which had more books on it.
- >IT KEEPS HAPPENING.
- >S: “Whoa, nice catch Twilight!” he says
- >”It wasn’t me Spike, you should thank Anonymous here.” She says pointing a purple hoof at you.
- >You wave at the little guy, gently setting him down on the landing.
- >He looks at you with a mix of scorn and gratefulness in his eyes.
- “Hey man, I was wondering if we could talk.”
- >He goes to walk back upstairs, when Twilight shoots him a dreadful look.
- >S:”Fine. What did you want?”
- >Gosh he’s angry at you.
- >Can’t really blame him though.
- >You walk over to him, and kneel down on one knee.
- “Spike, I am SO sorry for what I did to you. I wasn’t quite myself at the time.” You say, trying to keep your composure.
- >S:”Why should I believe you!” he says, backing away from you.
- “I know it sounds a little weird, but believe me, if I could take back what I did, I would do it in a heartbeat. It’s still a touchy issue for me and I still try and cope with it, but I hope you’ll forgive me.”
- >He looks a bit leery of your confession.
- >He balls his claw into a fist.
- >You know what happens next.
- >Bracing yourself for a black eye, nothing comes.
- >He’s simply holding his fist out to you.
- >He’s not?
- >Oh my GOD he IS.
- >You ball up a fist, and give the little guy a bump on the knuckles.
- >FUCKING
- >AWESOME.
- >S:”Alright, I believe you. It’s not like I could hold a grudge against someone who can clean so well.”
- “Haha thanks bro, now, I’ve got a surprise for you.” You say
- >You see his little eyes light up, as you walk away.
- >Even Twilight is eyeing you
- “Hey Twilight, only Unicorns can use magic right?” you ask
- >”Yes normally. Well, unicorns and Alicorns can. Why do you ask?” she says
- “Well, it looks like they may have to rewrite the textbooks.” You say smugly, grabbing the hat you left on the table.
- >”Why is that? Have you seen another creature do magic?” she says, suddenly very interested.
- “Not yet,” you say walking over to Spike, dropping the hat on his head.
- “But he will under my tutelage.” You say.
- Back in Canterlot...
- >The halls are silent.
- >The guards dismissed.
- >The only sounds that can be heard are one Princess’ snoring, and the others mad scratching of quill on parchment.
- >Celestia is madly scribbling away on a piece of parchment, trying to make heads or tails of the ramblings of a mad wizard.
- >Luna is sleeping soundly in her bed, blissfully dreaming.
- >However they are not entirely alone in that castle.
- >The same ghostly figure from earlier is wandering around, strolling through the hallways.
- >Examining everything that has changed.
- >He’s not too fond of what he sees.
- >Things change quite a bit in 2000 years.
- >Everything’s so....
- >Boring.
- >Everything is plain.
- >There’s no ambition anywhere.
- >No drive to survive and thrive.
- >Stagnation is the best word he can come up with.
- >HE, the very FATHER of the magical arts, now a simple creator of spells.
- >FORGOTTEN by all p0nykind.
- >All that remains of his name are credits in books, and a name of a library wing.
- >Pathetic.
- >It was HE who helped them attain power.
- >It was HE who tutored them in their studies.
- >HE DID EVERYTHING HIMSELF.
- >The ghostly figure continued his pacing up and down the halls.
- >The bells on his robe jingled as they brushed against the floor.
- >There was not much he could do in his current state.
- >But he could have a little fun.
- >There were certain, objectives, which needed to be fulfilled.
- >The wheels were already set in motion.
- >It was simply a matter of time.
- >He let out a ghostly sigh as he watched his ex-pupil madly trying to figure out his cryptic riddle.
- >She would crack it eventually, but not anytime soon.
- >She would need help.
- >He thought he trained her better.
- >But everyone makes mistakes.
- >The smart ones however plan for mistakes.
- >And create a failsafe.
- >It was still too boring around here.
- >He floats over to the window, and looks down into the garden.
- >His familiar friend, still frozen in stone.
- >What a shame that he turned out the way he did.
- >He may prove useful, but not right now.
- >The best laid plans and what-not.
- >You can hear him yelling at you to let him out.
- >Eventually dear friend.
- >Eventually.
- >For now there must be order.
- >Order by YOUR MEANS.
- >And sometimes to progress order
- >You need to give it a little
- >Push.
- >He floats overtop the castle, invisible to all, except for a few key individuals.
- >He sees the large town that has sprung up around the castle.
- >From up here they looked like gnats.
- >They may as well have been.
- >He decides to liven things up a little.
- >A sudden rainstorm should do the trick.
- >Dark clouds swirl overhead, crackling with lightening, and thick with rain.
- >The winds howl, and the clouds release their watery payload.
- >For the first time in YEARS, there was unexpected weather in the forecast.
- >For now, and for some time to come.
- >His chuckles resound far and wide, but are masked by the cacophony of thunder.
- >He was enjoying this FAR too much.
- Back in P0nyville...
- >If Twilight’s jaw could drop any further, it would be somewhere through the floor.
- >Spike was simply looking up at you with a mix of confusion and excitement on his face.
- >You were simply smiling at the shock this produced.
- >S:” But how? I though only Unicorns could use magic?” He says, lifting the hat over his eyes.
- “Simple. My magic works differently than yours, and I guess it would be a sort of experiment. But I think the fundamentals are all still here, and unless there is something dramatically different between your magic and mine, which I doubt there is, then all it should take is a little push in the right direction.”
- >This whole time Twilight is staring at you
- >It’s as if you just told her that east was west and vice versa.
- “Would you like to help Twilight? I can see that you’re just as interested in this as me and Spike are.”
- >”Uhh sure, yeah, just let me grab some supplies first.”
- “Great. Come on then you two. We’ll start lesson one out by the forest. I want to make sure we have plenty of room to practice.” You say clapping your hands together.
- >You open the door and step outside into the midday sun.
- >It’s already blazing hot, but this robe keeps you nice and cool.
- >Maybe it’s not such a bad thing after all.
- >Your stomach growls and the thought of the time.
- >Maybe you should pick up some lunch first.
- >You peek your head back inside and say you’re going to pick up lunch and for them to meet you at your house before heading off towards the forest.
- >Twilight acknowledges you, and you can see her madly rushing about gathering all sorts of testing equipment.
- >That mare sure is quirky.
- >Setting off down the main street, you see that gigantic confectionary shaped building again.
- >Donuts for breakfast and sweets for lunch?
- >Why the hell not?
- >You’re going to need the energy for this afternoon anyway.
- >The building, just as you expected, was Sugarcube corner.
- >Always with the puns and jokes in this place.
- >You open the door, to be greeted by a gigantic set of eyes.
- >HIYA ANON. WHAT CAN I GET FOR YA?”
- “Oh good lord!” you gasp, falling on your ass outside and down the steps.
- >It keeps happening today.
- >You look up and see Pinkie standing over you, a smile beaming in your direction.
- >Of course.
- “Please. Pinkie. I don’t know if my heart can take many more of these sudden shocks.” You say, trying to catch your breath.
- >”Oh come on you silly-filly, everyone loves surprises!” she says helping you to your feet.
- “What are you doing here anyway?” you ask
- >”Oh I work here with the Cakes! I help make all sorts of sweets. From cakes to cupcakes and beyond!” she says pulling you into the bakery.
- >This place smelled AMAZING.
- >There were p0nies everywhere munching away on different confectionaries.
- >You spot a certain red desert in the display cabinet.
- >Is that what you think it is?
- “Pinkie, do you have anything with cherries in it?” you ask
- >She gasps right next to your ear and disappears behind the counter.
- >She comes back seconds later carrying a flat desert.
- >It can’t be...
- “Is... Is that a Cherry Chimichanga?” you say, absolutely bewildered
- >”BETTER!” she exclaims shoving the plate into your hands “It’s a Chimicherry Cherrychanga!”
- >OMG
- >You take a bite out of the desert.
- >Your mouth literally explodes with flavour.
- “Pinkie, how much do I owe you for this?” you say with a serious face
- >”Oh you don’t like it?” she says looking a bit defeated
- “No,” you say stuffing the rest in your mouth “I want two dozen of these bloody things! It tastes just like my ma used to make back home!” you say giving her the biggest hug EVER.
- >She’s literally squee’ing with joy
- >You quickly place the order with the cakes, and the total comes to 40 bits.
- >It doesn’t matter though.
- >Home cooking is on the LINE.
- >You grab a few more for the road, and for Twilight and Spike who are probably already at your house by now.
- >It’ll take you a while to walk there, and you don’t want to be too late.
- >Eh, screw it, your teleporting there.
- >You say your goodbyes to the Cakes and Pinkie, and take your bag full of delicious cherry delights outside.
- >You glance around to see if anyone is looking your way.
- >Nope, seems rather dead at the moment.
- >Quick circle around your feet with the chalk
- >Simple locator rune etched that you placed inside your home the first day.
- >*Pop*
- >The world shifts and your back home.
- >You look through the window and spot the pair coming up the road now.
- >You open the door and wave, pointing at the paper bag.
- >S:”How did you get here so fast?” Spike says “We didn’t even so you walk out of Sugercube corner.”
- “That my little reptilian friend will be your third or fourth lesson. For now, let’s have some lunch and head on out. We’ve got a lot of theory to go over, and I still have a few things to do today.” you say, passing each of them one of your DELICIOUS PASTRIES.
- >The walk is brisk and quiet, save for the munching of pastry.
- >Twilight brought tons of equipment, which you promptly told her to leave behind.
- >Today would just be observation.
- >No need to get Spike stressed on his first lesson.
- >You arrive at a small clearing you noticed on your way in, just a little ways behind your house.
- >It was wide open, and there were no buildings or important objects for quite a ways.
- >The perfect place to practice.
- >You crumple the empty bag of Chimicherry Cherrychangas, and place it in one of the pouches that came with your robe.
- >Rarity really thought of everything.
- >Twilight rolls out a small blanket that she brought with her, and started setting up her work station.
- >She even had a little fold out writing stand.
- “Now, before we start, I need to assess how much Mana you’ve got.” You say walking over to Spike.
- >”What’s Mana?” Twilight asks
- “Mana is essentially magical essence. Everyone has a different capacity for mana, and some people can hold it better than others. For example, Twilight, from over here I can literally see the mana coming from you.” You say, casting a quick spell to reveal the magical aura coming from her.
- >Both her and Spike looked amazed and the purplish aura that rose up around her.
- “Everyone has this aura, but it’s normally invisible unless revealed by a spell. Everyone’s aura has a different colour as well. Mine glows a deep green.” You say, casting the spell on yourself, revealing the torrent of arcane energy flowing off your robes.
- “Now mine looks a lot flashier, but that’s simply because my mana capacity has been increased through rigorous training over the years. I suspect that you could improve your own Twilight, through the same training I’m putting Spike through.” You say smirking.
- >S:”What about mine?” Spike says, waving his hand in the air.
- >You cast the same spell on him.
- >Its
- >Not much to look at really.
- >A small trickle of red flows from around him, but it is there.
- >He looks a bit disheartened.
- “Now, don’t worry about that just yet. You’d be surprised how many fledgling students don’t even have an aura yet. There IS magical potential in you, but you need training. And you can start with a couple of laps around this track.” You say, outlining a circular path, about half a mile long with bobbing globes of red light.
- “Let’s go little man, daylights burning!” you say in your best drill sergeant voice.
- >He snaps too and takes off around the track, as you plop down next to Twilight, who is giggling to herself.
- >”Is that really necessary?” she asks
- “Yes and no. A little exercise never did anyone any harm, and besides, it’ll get his blood flowing. That and I wanted to ask you a question.”
- >”Sure, what’s the matter?”
- “Why is the weather always so calm here?”
- >”Well the pegasi control the weather here, it’s all scheduled thanks to Cloudsdale.”
- “So, is there supposed to a torrent of rain coming down, specifically on Canterlot right now?” you say pointing at the mountain side town.
- >it looked like it was being pummelled by the angry fist of a weather god.
- >”I’m not sure” she says looking a bit worried.
- >Just then a cyan coloured blur flies by, darting through the clouds.
- >”HEY RAINBOW!” Twilight yells, once again, right in your ear.
- >The cyan coloured Pegasus, flies down straight towards you, stopping a few feet away.
- >RD:”Hey guys, what’s up with Spike?”
- “Long story,” you say, “We were just wondering what’s up with the massive storm over Canterlot? Is that what storms are normally like here?” you say, pointing once again.
- >The color drains from her face.
- >”No, no its not!” she says taking off like a bolt towards the castle.
- “Well that sure doesn’t sound good” you say, returning to watching Spike.
- >Twilight however looks a bit more concerned than you.
- >”I should send a letter to the Princess to see if everything is alright.” She says
- “Hey, don’t bother the little guy right now. He looks like he’s enjoying himself. Besides, I’m headed up that ways tonight anyhow, so I can deliver your message for you.”
- >She nods her head in agreement as you go back to watching Spike run around the track.
- >He really is trying.
- >Maybe there is hope for this mad experiment after all.
- Meanwhile in Canterlot...
- >A certain Princess is soaking wet.
- >The rain has not let up for over two hours now.
- >Every time she tried to break through the cloud layer, a bolt of lightning would arc across her path, preventing her from getting any further.
- >The streets below are filled with her guards, frantically trying to prevent the streets from flooding.
- >The thunder and lightning has not ceased since this infernal storm began.
- >The first thing she did was put a protective bubble around a certain statue in the garden.
- >That is the last thing she needs happening right now.
- >Her Sister has yet to awaken from her slumber
- >She was always a heavy sleeper.
- >Her Wonderbolts were also unable to make any progress in quelling the storm.
- >They were mostly just for show anyhow, but she thought it would be best to try SOMETHING.
- >She cursed out loud, as another bolt of lightning struck a nearby house.
- >The torrent of rain quickly dispensed it however, but the damage was done.
- >A sound fills her ears.
- >The thunder and lightning have stopped, but in their place, a symphony of music has started.
- >You hear it coming from deep inside the castle.
- >It loud enough to echo all throughout the town.
- >p0nies everywhere are looking out their windows, and in the streets at the music coming from the castle.
- >That and the oversized piano perched on top of the tallest spire of the castle.
- >A haunting voice rings out.
- >”Out of time,”
- >”From the past,”
- >”Justice has arrived at last,”
- >”Thunder, Wind and Rain,”
- >”Will sweep away the pain,”
- >”Run and Hide,”
- >”Flee inside,”
- >”Then you all will come to see,”
- >”The time for vengeance is nigh.”
- >Loud raucous laughter comes from the Piano at the same time.
- >The Princess flies up to the infernal device
- >There is no one there to play it however, yet the keys move on their own.
- >She hurls the piano flying off her castle, and down the mountain.
- >The music continuing all the way until it smashes to pieces near the bottom.
- >The music has stopped, and so has the rain.
- >The streets below are filled with her subjects, all looking up at her.
- >This has got to stop, she thinks to herself, and flies back into the castle.
- >She goes back down to the library, and settles down in one of the many chairs.
- >She’s expecting company soon, so she has little time to continue her work.
- >It never seems to end.
- Outside the Everfree...
- “And that’s basic magical theory in a nutshell, at least from what I was taught.” You finish saying.
- >Twilight was trying to scribble down almost everything you said.
- >Spike looks like he’s half asleep.
- >You check the time on your mp3, and it shows 5:00pm
- >Good god where did the day go?
- >You’ve been at this for quite some time.
- “I guess that’s our lesson for today. It is getting late, and I’m sure you two have things to do.” You say, gathering up your chalk, and erasing the many circles you’ve drawn all over the place.
- “Over the next few days I’ll try and show you some more simple spells, and hopefully you’ll be able to start working on them yourself Spike.”
- >Spike lets out a large yawn S:”Ok, sure Anon, thanks for the awesome day.”
- >”Yes Anon, that was quite intriguing, especially the bit about internal focusing. I HAVE to try that sometime.” Twilight says, packing up her things.
- “No problem at all, would you guys like a quick port home?” ask.
- >They both stare at each other.
- >”You can teleport others long distances?” Twilight asks
- “Yeah, it’s a bit more taxing, but I need to recharge anyway. Here, step on in this circle, and just think of the library.” You say, sketching a wider circle that can fit all three of you comfortably.
- >They step inside as you finish etching the locator runes.
- >You’ve been leaving these all over the place for quick transportation.
- >Sure teleporting is the lazy mage’s way around, but it sure is convenient.
- >You focus on the rune located outside of Twilight’s home, and you hear the familiar *pop*
- >The world around you warps, and the three of you are outside the tree house.
- >S:”Wow Anon, that was so cool!” Spike says
- “No problem little guy, soon enough you’ll be able to port yourself around as well. With more practice that is.” You say smiling
- >He goes to hand back your hat.
- “No way, that’s yours now. It shows that you’re my new apprentice. You’ve earned it running all those laps today.” You say, patting it down on his head.
- >Its FAR too large, but you can fix that later.
- >A few more minutes of chatter later, and your back home.
- >There’s a letter on the kitchen counter when you arrive.
- >And it has the royal seal on it.
- >You open in carefully, prying the wax seal apart.
- >Inside it reads;
- >Mr. Anonymous: The Princess requests your presence at the castle grounds tonight at 6:00Pm sharp. Your audience will be held in the Royal Canterlot Library in the Eastern Wing of the Royal Castle. Please do not be late, as this is a matter of utmost importance. From the Desk of her Royal Highness, Princess Celestia
- >Oh boy, you wish you got this letter hours ago.
- >The sun was already setting, and time was 5:30.
- >That gives you only a few minutes to shower and freshen up before porting up to the castle.
- >You do your best to clean up, and by the time your spic and span, its 5:45.
- >More than enough time.
- >You walk over to the channelling circle you engraved in the wood floor on the third day.
- >Hey, sure it looks bad, but this way you don’t have to keep using your chalk.
- >With a quick *pop* you find yourself in front of the castle gates.
- >No guards around.
- >That’s weird.
- >The ground is awfully wet as well.
- >Probably from the freak storm earlier.
- >You open the door, carefully shutting it behind you.
- >You peak around
- >The halls are strangely empty.
- >Maybe their switching to the night shift?
- >Regardless, you objectives tonight are two-fold.
- >First up, recharge your batteries.
- >Second, see what’s up with the princess.
- >You slide open the throne room door, and step inside, carefully making sure not to let it slam.
- >You then see the massive scrawled text on the wall.
- >Good lord what the hell happened in here?
- >This must be what she wants to talk to you about.
- >You quickly head up to the peak of the room, and call for the magical essence of the line.
- >You tap right into the source of power, and can already feel the magic flowing into you.
- >God this shit is like cocaine.
- >You try to limit how much you draw in.
- >No need to get yourself addicted.
- >You stop once you feel about 85% full.
- >That should be more than enough the last you for quite some time.
- >You make quickly erase the circle you made.
- >You’ve practically littered the landscape with these things already.
- >Good thing most of the chalk is waterproof.
- >You exit the throne room, talking a left and head towards the library.
- >The large and imposing wooden door that leads to the library is slightly ajar.
- >You gently push it open, and hear a soft noise coming from the other side of the room.
- >You tiptoe down the corridor, noticing that much of the library is in disarray.
- >there are books scattered everywhere, and scrolls are spread open as well.
- >They all seem to be similar in age from the look of the them.
- >and they look quite old.
- >You continue to follow the noise, when it becomes apparent that it’s...
- >Snoring?
- >You sneak as quietly as you can along the walls of books, to find Celestia fast asleep at a desk.
- >A single candle illuminates a rather large stack of books by her side, as well as a massive pile of scrolls.
- >She must have been doing even more research than Twilight has.
- >At least now you know where she gets her tenacity for learning from.
- >Her head is leaning on a particularly large volume of text, using it like a pillow.
- >Her ethereal hair flows in the candle light, casting a multicoloured light effect across the floor.
- >Her wings are folded at her sides, almost huddled around her to keep her warm.
- >She looks like she needs the rest.
- >You spot a quilt draped over an old looking armchair in the corner.
- >You grab the embroidered quilt, and carefully drape it over the sleeping Princess.
- >She turns a little bit, snuggling into the fabric.
- >Dawwww
- >You decide it’s better to let her rest for a little bit, and let her wake up, rather than startling her.
- >You grab a nearby book, entitled “Myths and Legends of Equestria: The Collected Manuscripts of Old”.
- >Seems interesting.
- >You notice the fireplace in the corner of the room
- >With a quick flick of your wrist, it crackles to life, giving the room some much needed warmth.
- >You take out your mp and flip to your reading music playlist.
- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMnrl0tmd3k
- >Begins to play, and you settle down into the chair, flipping open the book.
- >It’s been about 45 minutes now, and you are really enjoying this book.
- >Some of the tales seem absolutely fantastical, but yet they all seem to have bearing in the real world.
- >As real as this world is anyway.
- >the next tale in this large book is one about a “Nightmare Moon”, but before you can get to it, you hear hoofsteps coming from the other side of the room.
- >You peer up from your book, and see that it is Princess Luna.
- >She notices you in the chair and is about to speak, when you put a finger to your lips and point at the sleeping Celestia.
- >She nods her head, and beckons you over.
- >You carefully place the book down, and turn off your mp3.
- >You tiptoe around the sleeping monarch, and follow Luna towards the other side of the room.
- >”Hello Anonymous, We were not expecting to see you around. What is the nature of your visit?”
- “Hello Princess, I was summoned here by Celestia, but when I arrived, I found her asleep in the chair. She looks like she’s been through a lot today, so I decided I would wait for her to wake up.”
- >”That is very kind of you. Indeed these last few days have been quite trying on the both of us. I am sure you noticed the Storm that besieged the town earlier?”
- “Indeed I did, I assumed it was normal until one of my friends, Rainbow Dash, noticed and informed me that it was in fact NOT scheduled weather. I was rather worried, but figured the Princess had it under control.”
- >”We did for the most part, but the source of the Storm is being looked into. I believe my Sister was going to request your aid in her research as to the cause.”
- “I would be honoured to help with anything Princess Luna.” You say.
- >Before you can speak any further, you can hear a stirring from the other side of the room.
- >”It seems my Sister has finally awoken, We will leave you to your business, will you be staying at the castle tonight Anonymous?” Princess Luna asks
- “If it would not be too much trouble. Recharging my batteries can cause some, unexpected side effects for a short while after.”
- >”It would be no problem at all. I shall get the castle staff to prepare the room you used previously in the same manner. Have a pleasant evening.” She says
- “And to you as well Princess” you say with a bow.
- >She exits the room, and you turn around to see that the other Princess stirring in her chair, examining the quilt that had been draped over her.
- >You walk over towards the table.
- “Good evening Princess, I hope I didn’t wake you.” You say, announcing your presence
- >She whirls around in her chair, her mane all over the place from the static of the quilt.
- >”Oh Anonymous! I am so sorry, I completely forgot about our meeting,” She says, trying to fix her hair “How long have you been here?”
- “Oh not long, just under an hour. You looked like you needed the rest” you say in a reassuring tone, carefully stacking a few dropped books on a table.
- “How are you feeling?” you ask, while continuing to tidy up a little bit.
- >It’s just something you do whenever you see a mess.
- >You try to fix it.
- >”Honestly Anonymous, I’ve been better.” She says, stifling a yawn.
- >Now THAT’S surprising.
- >She’s really not acting her regal self.
- “What’s the matter? Your letter seemed urgent.” You say, sitting on the chair across from her.
- >”I take it you saw the Storm earlier today?”
- “Heh, you’re the second Princess whose asked me that in the last 5 minutes. And yes I have, I was concerned but when it started to lift a few minutes later, I assumed everything was under control.”
- >”I see, well, it’s a bit of a long story...” she says letting out another yawn
- “And you seem in no condition to tell it tonight” you say, cutting her off “To be quite honest Princess, it looks like you could use some rest. That or a stiff drink.” You say
- >Both of you laugh
- >”Well Anonymous, you are quite right about that” she says
- >Your stomach growls trying to get your attention.
- >It reminds you that you haven’t eaten in a few hours.
- “Oh god, excuse me Princess, normally this is around the time I have dinner.” You say blushing
- >”I would offer you some Anon, but I sent most of the castle staff home after the flooding to be with their families. The kitchen is quite empty at this hour.”
- >Her stomach growls as well at the thought of food.
- >You both share another laugh
- “Why don’t we discuss this over dinner somewhere? No sense trying to figure things out on an empty stomach and raddled brain.” You say
- >”That sounds like a wonderful idea; I know a restaurant not too far from the castle. Gather your things and meet me outside the front gate, once you have dropped off your things. I heard that you were staying the night.”
- “Alright I will be right there.” You say, as she leaves the library.
- >You follow out after her, going your separate ways as you drop off your box of Chalk you carry everywhere, and your overnight bag with your few toiletries.
- >You quickly wash your face in the sink, and comb your short hair to the best of your abilities.
- >Damn, you look dashing.
- >You head back on downstairs, and find Princess Celestia waiting for you by the door.
- >”All ready to go Anonymous?” she says opening the door with her magic
- “Lead the way your majesty.” You say with a bow, holding the door open for her.
- >”Oh Anon, call me Celestia.” She says cantering her head towards you.
- “Alright, Celestia” you say returning the smile.
- >The night is still young, but the stars in the sky are already twinkling in the dark blue sky.
- >She tells you that the restaurant is not too far from the castle, and it’s only a few blocks away.
- >Apparently she has a permanent table on reserve here, the food is so good.
- >Sounds good enough for you.
- >You garner a few looks from the p0nies around Canterlot, but they are mostly talking to Celestia, and try to garner her attention.
- >She kindly says hello, but that she is on important business.
- >Looks like you were her important business tonight.
- >The streets look like they have been cleared quite well of all the rain water from earlier.
- >The caretakers of the town must have had their work cut out for them.
- >Many of the houses and Restaurants were closed for the night.
- >Understandable with how the day went.
- >You round a corner to find a huge line going into a single house.
- >”Ah here we are.” She says walking past the line.
- >You follow closely behind.
- >You could feel the stares of the p0nies in line like daggers in your back.
- >In the very front of the line there stands the only p0ny you’ve seen that could give Big Mac a run for his money.
- >A massive stallion was acting as bouncer, letting people into the restaurant.
- >As soon as he sees Celestia however, he bows and opens the door.
- >”Come along Anon.” She says walking through the door.
- >the bouncer eyes you warily, but as you walk by, you flip him a couple of bits
- >He smiles, catching them in his mouth and nods as you walk through the door.
- >Looks like money talks around here as well.
- >This place...
- >IS FUCKING BUSY
- >There are p0nies and all assortments of creatures everywhere!
- >The place is absolutely packed from wall to wall.
- >At the far end of the room, there’s a stage where a live band is playing.
- >It sounds wonderful, and the whole place smells great.
- >The floor manager quickly runs over after seeing the Princess arrive, and grabs two menu’s from a large stack sitting on the main desk.
- >He walks into the main dining area and motions for the band to stop playing.
- >He says “Announcing her Royal Majesty Princess Celestia and her esteemed guest, Sir Anonymous of Earth.”
- >Almost all of the patrons get out of the chairs and bow.
- >Celestia smiles and waves as well, and the band resumes playing.
- >You can hear the muttering coming from many of the tables as the manager leads Celestia and you to yours.
- >At this point, you were somewhat used to it.
- >The manager places the two of you in a table right by the stage.
- >Fancy.
- >You begin perusing the menu for anything that sounds appetizing.
- >You spot a Mushroom Risotto that comes with grilled eggplant.
- >That sounds delicious.
- >Funny how many of the dishes are similar to ones back home.
- >”So Anonymous, how are you enjoying your time here in Equestria so far?” Celestia says whilst browsing the menu as well.
- “Honestly Princess, it is so peaceful here. Every morning I wake up, I’m able to appreciate the dawn and enjoy the day, far more than I ever could back home. I know it sounds corny, but it’s the honest truth.”
- >”You must wake quite early to see the sun rise.” She says looking at you from overtop the menu.
- “Indeed I do. Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise I’ve always said. Plus the sunrise here is unnaturally beautiful.”
- >”My you are the flatterer. It’s rare to meet someone who wakes early enough to see the sun rise every morning. I’m glad you enjoy my work.”
- >Her work?
- “What do you mean your work?”
- >”Well it’s my job to raise the Sun in the morning, and lower it in the Evening. My Sister does the same with the moon. I thought I had told you this?” she says going back to her menu.
- >Wait
- >WAIT A SEC
- >You wave over at the waiter.
- >”Yes sir?”
- “Yeah, I’m going to need the strongest drink you’ve got in house. I don’t care about the cost.”
- >”Right away sir, excellent choice sir.” He says walking away.
- >”Anonymous are you alright?” Celestia asks
- “I will be in a moment.” You say
- “Honestly, what you just told me basically invalidates pretty much everything I know about science from back home.”
- >”Oh my, I thought I had told you already?” she says, obviously concerned at the reaction on your face.
- >She may have as well told you that there is no such thing as gravity, and that someone else holds everything in place.
- >You hope that’s not the case.
- >The waiter comes back, carrying a vintage whisky bottle and two glasses.
- >”Here you are sir, would you care to sample some first?” he says, popping the lid, and pouring some into a glass.
- >You take the glass and smell the contents.
- >Not much of an odour.
- >You take a small sip.
- >Well it’s still not that st-
- >BAM
- >There it is!
- >This tastes just as potent as the stuff back home.
- “It’s wonderful, thank you.” You say pouring yourself another shot, and one for the Princess.
- >You pass her a glass, and she sniffs at the liquid.
- >”Oh Anonymous, I don’t normally drink...”
- “Come on Princess, you need to relax a bit. All work and no play makes Jimmy a dull boy.”
- >She giggles at your silly analogy, but you think she gets the idea.
- “A toast; to a night of relaxation.” You say holding out your glass.
- >”and for a night to remember” she says clinking your glasses together.
- Two hours later...
- “And I said to him, that’s no Walrus, That’s his WIFE!”
- >Both you and Celestia start laughing.
- >You’ve had her splitting her sides all night.
- >Your quite the funny drunk when you want to be.
- >But man, are you hammered, and the Princess looks tipsy herself.
- >You both finished off the bottle, and part of a second one.
- >Dinner was FABULOUS, but you decided to pass on desert.
- “Hey, hey, no mean to rush, but we should probably head back to the castle.” You say, slightly slurring your speech.
- >”Your right Anon, Luna’s probably worried sick about where we are.”
- “Yeah, let’s go.” You say, getting up out of your seat
- >You walk over to her chair, and pull out her chair, so she can get up.
- >She mentions to the waiter to put the bill on her tab, and she’ll take care of it in the morning.
- “Hey, I was going to pay for dinner.” You say, trying to keep straight.
- >”Oh Anon, you couldn’t afford half of tonight’s dinner. Don’t worry about it.”
- >Well that made you feel like shit.
- >You both exit the restaurant, and start walking down the street.
- “How about we take a walk around the garden, and try to sober up before heading inside.” You say
- “You need to set a good example for your sister you know.” You say stumbling a bit.
- >”Yeah yeah, I know.” She says.
- >After the first bottle, she lost much of her royal edge.
- >Right now, she’s just Celestia.
- >And you are one PLASTERED Anon.
- >The castle slowly comes into view
- >Celestia beside you shivers in the cool night air.
- >You unclasp the thick portion of your cloak, and drape in over her.
- “That’ll keep you warm.” You say
- >”Ever the gentlecolt I see” she says bumping your side.
- >You share another laugh and enter the castle gardens.
- >There’s a small fountain with a few benches around it.
- >You motion to her to sit down, and she follows you.
- >You both sit down, listening to the water trickle from the fountain.
- >There’s not a sound to be heard, save for a few crickets.
- >You can feel your eyelids getting heavy.
- >”Anon, what you said about your time here in Equestria, is that true?” she says, looking over at you.
- “Of course it is. I meant every word. Especially everything about the morning.” You reply looking back at her.
- >She still looks a bit gloomy.
- >You’ve got an idea.
- >You stand up and pull out your mp3 player.
- >You unplug the earphones, and set it to the perfect song.
- >You grab a nearby rose from a bush, and use it as a microphone.
- >You sing along with the song, dancing around the fountain.
- >You extend your hand to her, and she takes it in her hoof.
- >You drag pull her along, and race of into the night, with Celestia following.
- >Racing all along the garden, you hear her laughing behind you, trying to keep up in her inebriated state.
- >You proceed through the maze, located in the middle of the garden.
- >She chases the sound of your voice through the twists and turns.
- >She follows your right out of the maze, and towards a small slope, leading to the lower half of the garden.
- >She finally catches up with you just as the song ends
- “Here comes the sun
- Here comes the sun, and I say
- It's all right
- It's all right”
- >You both fall to the ground laughing.
- >She’s laying flat on her back next to you.
- >Both of you are quite out of breath.
- >You turn over to make sure she’s ok
- >In turn, you are greeted with a set of velvety lips pressed against your own.
- >Your eyes shoot open wide, as you feel a foreign presence in your mouth.
- >She pulls away sharply.
- >”Thank you for the wonderful evening Anon.” She says, batting her eyelashes at you.
- >You still can’t comprehend what happened.
- >Before you even realise what’s going on, she gets up, plants a kiss on your forehead, and walks back to the castle.
- “Buh-wh-wh, WHAT.” Is all you manage to say 2 minutes later, still lying down in the grass.
- >Did that honestly just happen?
- >You know it did dude
- Oh hey brain, long time no see.
- >YEAH YOUVE KEPT ME SHUT UP WITH BOOZE.
- Where the hell did that come from?
- >OH I DUNNO, MAYBE CAUSE YOU ASKED HER OUT ON WHAT WAS MOST LIKELY A DATE?
- Oh
- OH
- >YEAH OH
- Man I didn’t want this...
- >Man you don’t know jack shit.
- >You brush the sweat off of your face, and head off into the castle as stealthy as your drunken self will allow.
- >However after that “Sobering” experience, you’re in not too bad shape.
- >You head towards your room, when your hear someone inside.
- >You carefully open the door just a crack to peek inside.
- >Oh god.
- >She’s sleeping in your bed.
- >What kind of fucked up world is this?
- >She’s got her head resting on the left pillow of the bed.
- >She’s also partially underneath the blankets, snoring away.
- >Sighing, you sneak over, and pull the blankets over her.
- >She snuggles further into them, but thankfully doesn’t wake up.
- >You grab the other pillow from the bed, kick off your shoes, and lay down on the sofa by the window.
- >You open it up, trying to catch some of the cool night air.
- >Pulling your cloak off, you drape it over your legs in an effort to try to warm up.
- >You stare out at the starry sky.
- >Tonight sure was a weird night.
