  1. >Empty halls.
  2. >Eerie murals.
  3. >Crude depictions of cyclopean architecture.
  4. >These things and more made up the cave the Archmage and his student trod down.
  5. >Their hoof steps echoed off the walls, bouncing back and forth down the empty corridors.
  6. >Clover carried a heavy satchel, laden with supplies.
  7. >Her master carried nothing, his fragile form unable to support much of anything.
  8. >Behind them walked a detachment of gryphon guards.
  9. >They continued along the hallways, the light of the few torches the carried casting eerie shadows all over the place.
  10. >Even though they were high up on a mountain peak, it felt unnaturally cold.
  11. >The guards whispered to each other quietly.
  12. >They didn’t much like being down here, that was evident.
  13. >Clover also felt a sense trepidation.
  14. “So, how are you liking these halls Clover?” the master says
  15. >”It reminds me of the stories you told me many years ago.” She replies.
  16. >He chuckles to himself.
  17. “Indeed. These are the same halls I walked centuries ago. This is where we found the first Stone.”
  18. >”Stone?”
  19. “Yes, we found a WeyStone. It was essentially a focusing crystal for magical energies. At first we had no idea what it did, or why it was here.”
  20. >The hall opened up into a massive cavern, leading right down into the heart of the mountain.
  21. >The pitiful light of the torches paled in comparison to the sheer size and majesty of the room.
  22. >A rocky slope went spiralling down further into the core, and which the group took.
  23. “Further studies indicated that it was here that many lines across the planet converged and separated again. It was essentially one of the four Hearts of Magic. Beating and pumping magical energy and essence across the lands.”
  24. >The party continues down the ancient causeway, a massive pool of something at the bottom.
  25. “So, we naturally did what any researcher would do. We removed the beating heart, and waited to see what happened.”
  26. >He laughs to himself again.
  27. >Clover simply smiles.
  28. >The gryphons look at each other nervously.
  29. “And here we are!” the Mage says, reaching the bottom.
  30. >It appears to be a massive underground reservoir of water.
  31. >A small stone walkway leads out onto an island.
  32. >In the middle of the island, there is a small stone fountain, which is empty.
  33. >The Mage walks merrily along over to the fountain, his entourage following him.
  34. >He turns around, and looks at his cohorts.
  35. “Ok guards, I need two volunteers.”
  36. >They all collectively gulp, and the two larger ones raise their hands.
  37. “Good, now stand over by the fountain, but do not touch anything.”
  38. >They walk past, and Clover whispers something to them.
  39. >They stand in their positions.
  40. “Now, magic is a lot like the blood of the world. Without it, it shrivels and dies, and cannot maintain itself.”
  41. “Some creatures, often ones with large magical potential also must recharge at Ley Lines.”
  42. “Many modern day magic users unfortunately have grown soft and wek, depending on the Ether to support their magic. They cannot internally store it.”
  43. “We are going to help one suck poor creature.”
  44. “It’s lost a lot of magic, and for it, magic is like blood.”
  45. “And what does something need when it loses too much blood?”
  46. >One of the gryphons standing by the fountain raises a talon.
  47. >”It, uh, needs a transfusion?”
  48. “Very good!” the mage says, patting him on the back.
  49. “Now, since you two were kind enough to volunteer, grab the body, and drain its blood into the fountain.”
  50. >The gryphons’ eyes go wide.
  51. >”Uh, what body?”
  52. >Star Swirls horn glows bright, and the gryphon that did not volunteer, shudders and collapses to the ground.
  53. >His head, spun around in the wrong direction.
  54. “That one.” He says, levitating it over to them.
  55. >The one nearly throws up, and the other is shaking profusely.
  56. “Now now, I respect your loyalty! That is why you two are still breathing, and he is not! Are you not grateful?”
  57. >They both nod, and say thanks.
  58. “Very good. Who says you can’t find good help?”
  59. >Clover smiles walking over to her master.
  60. >”So. What’s the blood needed for anyways?”
  61. “Oh! Right. It’s hungry.”
  62. >”It?”
  63. “Mhmm, It’s been asleep for so long. He needs something to eat, in order to wake up.”
  64. “Blood Magic is one of the older arts; much frowned upon, and only used a short while. Potent though.”
  65. >The blood from the carcass slowly fills the fountain.
  66. >Eventually, the gryphons just dump the body into it.
  67. “Now everyone, please stand back.” The mage says, striding over to the body of water.
  68. >The gryphons and Clover quickly retreat over the bridge onto the main land.
  69. “Come on now, time to wake up!” he says
  70. >The water ripples as he runs his hoof through it.
  71. “Now, now, I brought you something to eat.”
  72. >The water shudders some more, and a long watery tendril slowly begins to rise.
  73. “There we go. This is all I can spare right now, but there will be plenty more soon.”
  74. >The tendril worms its way along the Mages body.
  75. “It’s in your sippy cup. It should still be warm if you hurry.”
  76. >The tendril slides towards the fountain, grasping the body, dragging it into the waters.
  77. “Was it good? Tastes like Chicken?”
  78. >Another tendril sprouts from the water, embracing him.
  79. “Oh, so affectionate this century aren’t you?”
  80. >The fountain, now drained of all its liquid, and carcass free begins to glow slightly.
  81. “Now now, don’t stress yourself out! We still have plenty of time. Baby steps my pet.”
  82. >And with that, the Mage walks back across the stone bridge, the tendrils falling back into the water.
  83. >The Gryphons look horrified, and Clover simply smiles.
  84. >”Hungry ain’t he?” she says
  85. “Yes, quite. He wanted these two as well, but I told him no.”
  86. >The Gryphons jaws drop, as the run up the slope.
  87. “I WAS JOKING!” he calls after them laughing.
  88. >Clover chuckles.
  89. >”You weren’t joking though were you?”
  90. “I was never a good liar.”

  93. >You awake in your soft hotel bed, the sun shining through the thick velvet curtains.
  94. >You go to stretch your arms, but remember who’s behind you.
  95. >Turning your head, you see your Party Pal in the spot she has chosen to sleep for the past few days.
  96. >She still has her fore hooves wrapped around you, but man do you have to use the john.
  97. >She’s still fast asleep, gently snoring in your ear.
  98. >It’s actually quite adorable.
  99. >You gently slide yourself from her grasp, placing a pillow there in your stead.
  100. >She grabs the pillow, and buries her face in it.
  101. >Dawwwww.
  102. >You get up, stretching, greeting the rising sun.
  103. >Its warm rays heat your skin.
  104. >You head into the washroom to answer the call of nature.
  105. >After taking care of that, you grab a clean shirt and a clean pair of shorts.
  106. >One last check reveals that Celestia is still out cold.
  107. >Probably the first time EVER she has ever gotten to sleep in.
  108. >You check the clock on the wall.
  109. >8:30
  110. >Jeez that was late for you.
  111. >Ah well, time for breakfast.
  112. >You carefully open the door, and shut it behind you, trying carefully not to make any noise.
  113. >You head out into the hall, and call an elevator.
  114. >It arrives a minute later, and you get inside.
  115. >You see your reflection in the mirror.
  116. >EGAD IS THAT WHAT YOUR BEARD LOOKS LIKE?
  117. >Holy fuck, you’re like a bloody caveman!
  118. >Can’t have that now can we?
  119. >You focus your will upon the unsightly hair growth, and with a *pop* its disappears leaving you clean-shaven.
  120. >Sure, you could have just shaved normally when you got back, but fuck it.
  121. >You wonder where the hair went?
  122. >Teleporting hair away to god knows where maybe was not a great idea.
  123. >Hopefully somewhere over on the ocean.
  124. >The elevator stops on the 20th floor.
  125. >And in walks a rainbow mare.
  126. “Dash?”
  127. >She looks up at you.
  128. >”Anon?”
  129. >You both say at the same time.
  130. “What the buck are you doing here?”
  131.
  132. “And so that’s how we got here.”
  133. >Rainbow sits across from you, sipping on a fruit smoothie.
  134. >You’ve got some coffee and a bowl of porridge.
  135. >Mmm blueberries.
  136. >”So, let me get this straight, you’ve been on vacation, leaving us all in the dark, and gallivanting around Equestria?”
  137. “Yep, any other questions?”
  138. >”Shouldn’t you have told us?” she says, looking a bit hurt.
  139. “Yes. I should have, and I feel terrible about it. I was planning to be back in a few days.”
  140. >”You had us all worried Anon. You didn’t come around town, you hardly hung out with any of us...”
  141. >Oh man, it’s all true.
  142. “Listen, Rainbow. Let me put it this way. I cared about all of you enough that I did not want my bad mood to worry any of you. It’s just something I lived with for the longest time.”
  143. >”But we were your friends! That’s what friends do!”
  144. “I know that now. I’ve learned from some of the best teachers.”
  145. >She smiles at that.
  146. “So what are you doing here anyway?”
  147. >”Dude, the Wonderbolts are in town! I almost never miss a show!”
  148. >You’ve heard about these Wonderbolts before. Maybe Sunshine would like to go.
  149. “Well maybe I should go al-“ you begin to say, when you notice a certain Princess enter the restaurant.
  150. >And she doesn’t have the illusion up.
  151. >”So, whose the p0ny you said you were travelling with Anon?”
  152. “Uh-oh...”
  153. >You get up from your chair, and scoot over to the Princess.
  154. “Uh, no disguise?”
  155. >”Yes Anon, I am quite aware. P0nies will just have to accept the fact that I am around, and with you. Now, how about some breakfast?” she says, grabbing a muffin from the snack table.
  156. >You can feel a hoof jab your sides.
  157. >WHATS WITH THEM DOING THAT?
  158. >”DUDE. YOU’RE TRAVELLING WITH CELESTIA?”
  159. “Uh, yeah.” You say rubbing the back of your hair.”
  160. >”DUDE.” Is all she can say again.
  161. “Yup. Cupcake?” you offer the cyan p0ny.
  162.
  163. >You, Dash, and Celestia are now seated at a large table in the dining room.
  164. >Meal was paid for by the hotel, drinks were always full, and food was constantly being brought.
  165. “Oh man,” you grunt “If I see another muffin, I swear to god...”
  166. >You look over at Rainbow, who has also eaten her fill.
  167. >Celestia is meanwhile on her second slice of strawberry cake.
  168. >CAKE.
  169. >FOR BREAKFAST.
  170. “How’s the Cake there Princess?”
  171. >Celestia looks over at you, some icing on her lip still.
  172. >”It’s divine.” She says, dabbing her lip with a napkin.
  173. >You chuckle to yourself, and Dash leans in over to you.
  174. >RD:”Dude, she is so out of character right now. What have you been up to?”
  175. “Strange what some rest and relaxation can do to a pony eh?”
  176. >RD:”But that’s the PRINCESS! She runs everything!”
  177. “Yes, and even God’s need some downtime.” You say with a smile.
  178. “So Celestia,” you say sitting up right again “Dash told me the Wonderbolts were in town today. Want to go watch?”
  179. >She ponders for a moment.
  180. >”That sounds wonderful. I shall reserve box seats for the three of us.” She says, excusing herself from the table.
  181. >RD’s jaw drops, as Celestia walks away.
  182. “Part one of my apologies. You excited?”
  183. >She holds out a hoof.
  184. >You bunp it.
  185. >Back on track.
  186.
  187. >Above the clouds of Hollywood...
  188. >Today is the DAY!
  189. >Today you finally make your comeback!
  190. >You swoop down, invisible of course.
  191. >So many little p0nies, so many worthless and boring lives.
  192. >You skim along over their heads.
  193. >Such fragile lives these mortals had.
  194. >One false step...
  195. >You extend a claw, tripping a p0ny onto the street.
  196. >And they wind up broken.
  197. >You laugh, as the Stallion tries to stand on his broken leg.
  198. >Such chaos, even in small doses was great fun.
  199. >You fly back up high above the clouds.
  200. >He was feeding his pet again, you could feel it.
  201. >He was such an old fool though.
  202. >Sure, you were his student, and sure, he could snuff you in a heartbeat.
  203. >But you knew more than he did.
  204. >You would never tell him that.
  205. >He didn’t even know who you ARE!
  206. >But it would prove to be a good laugh when IT returned.
  207. >Oh what FUN!
  208. >You are practically giggling with glee.
  209. >Now, where was the silly human?
  210. >You tap into the ether around you, trying to ping his location.
  211. >Ah, the Wonderbolts!
  212. >Of course, he wanted to go see a show.
  213. >Now, how to go about this, you think flying towards the airborne stadium.
  214. >A tornado?
  215. >No, too cliché.
  216. >A tsunami?
  217. >Nah, you did that last time.
  218. >You didn’t want people thinking you were getting boring.
  219. >Hmm, so many choices, but you needed to make a point.
  220. >Like he suggested, once you make yourself apparent, make it BIG.
  221. >But, you wanted to know the extent of his powers first.
  222. >Maybe you’ll just toy with him first.
  223. >That could work nicely.
  224. >You soar down, watching the pegasi in flight suits perform their silly tricks.
  225. >Oh look, this one has a rather pretty mane.
  226. >You hope he doesn’t mind you borrowing his mind for a bit.
  227. >You turn into a swirling pink mist, and nestle deep into his ear.
  228. “Soarin, buddy you ok?” Spitfire calls out, noticing her flight mates contorted face.
  229. >”Pancakes.” He says in return.
  230. “What are you talking about? You aren’t making any sense?”
  231. >”Where’s the fun in that?”
  232.
  233. >Meanwhile in the stands...
  234. >You were laughing as you watched Dash bob up and down watching the Wonderbolts.
  235. >You have to admit, the show was quite impressive.
  236. >Celestia was sitting beside you, regally seated in a golden colour chair.
  237. >You were next to her in a ornate green chair.
  238. >How appropriate.
  239. >You were enjoying the time here with Celestia, but something was bugging you.
  240. >Ever since you first interacted with the Ley Lines, you haven’t stopped thinking about the discrepancies in their potency.
  241. >In some parts it was strong, but the Void concerned you the most.
  242. >Now that you’ve had some time to clear your head, you should probably look into that.
  243. >Especially with this whole Mysterious Mage guy.
  244. >You could never get the whole story out of Celestia.
  245. >Even your research turned up little facts about him.
  246. >the most you ever learned was talking to that hooded figure that one morning.
  247. >And even though you asked around for him, no one had seen him, or knew who he was.
  248. >You stretched in your seat, cracking your back a bit.
  249. >”Still a bit stiff?” Celestia asks.
  250. “A tad, those beds are FAR too small.”
  251. >”You should see the one I have back in Canterlot.” She says with a wink.
  252. >You chuckle nervously.
  253. >Dash turns around and gives you a What the Fuck look.
  254. >You put your finger to your lips, shushing her.
  255. >She’ll know sooner rather than later.
  256. >Suddenly a flash goes off beside you.
  257. >Oh god.
  258. >Your worst fear.
  259. >REPORTERS.
  260. “Paper Pusher here with the Hollywood Herald. Mind answering a few questions sir?”
  261. >You look over at Celestia, she nods.
  262. >Oh boy, was he in for a surprise.
  263. “Alright little p0ny shoot.”
  264. >”What are you?” he says, pulling out a quill and notepad.
  265. “Human.”
  266. >”Where do you come from?”
  267. “I come from a world you may not understand. It’s called Earth.”
  268. >He raises and eyebrow at you.
  269. >”Right. How did you get here?”
  270. “Magic gone wrong. You know. The usual.”
  271. >he scribbles that down.
  272. >”What’s your name?”
  273. “I go by many names. I highly doubt you would be able to pronounce my name, so you may call me Anonymous.”
  274. >”What are you doing here?”
  275. “Why obviously flirting with Royalty, but you’re making it quite hard for me to do that.”
  276. >His face drains of colour.
  277. “I’m joking with you lad, relax. I came here on accident, so, I just roll with what happened.”
  278. >He laughs nervously.
  279. >RD: “WHOA.”
  280. >You turn around, to see one of the Wonderbolts collide into one of the cloud walls.
  281. “Hold that thought my good man.” You say, sprinting over to Dash.
  282. >Celestia too is at attention.
  283. >Something isn’t right here.
  284. >Then you see it.
  285. >That black aura.
  286. “That. That can’t be good.” You say out loud, Celestia already in the air.
  287. “Fuck me. Dash, stay here, evacuate the locals.”
  288. >RD:”Anon? What’s going on?”
  289. “Nothing good. Be careful Dash. Things are about to get nasty.”
  290. >You grab a cloud with your will, and hop aboard, flying next to Celestia.
  291. “How bad?”
  292. >She looks at you seriously “God of Chaos bad.”
  293. “Wonderful”
  294. >You hear a familiar mocking voice.
  295. >”Anon and Celestia sitting in a tree. K-i-s-s-i-n-g.”
  296. >You’ve heard that voice before.
  297. >”Oh what’s the matter Celly, no love for an old friend?”
  298. >”DISCORD. I guess you’ve been let out?” She yells
  299. >The amalgamation of creatures flies out of the crowd, holding the Pegasus by his mane.
  300. >”Oh, he let me out quite a while ago. He has such stories of you. I never KNEW!”
  301. >Celestia’s face goes pale.
  302. >”He told me some things, not the whole though. That was pretty harsh for you Princess. I must say.” Discord says, laughing.
  303. >You can almost feel the anger emanating from the Princess.
  304. >It’s almost like sheer power.
  305. >”And what’s this? You’ve got the little monkey boy as your new consort? I knew you were into some strange things ‘tia darling, but this takes the cake!”
  306. >”But, enough about that. What say we have a little fun?”
  307. “Ok, haha, fun times. We get it, God of Chaos and all that. Can we just cut to the part where we kick your ass?”
  308. >He looks a bit taken aback by your comment.
  309. >D:”Oh Anonymous, you are such a buzz kill. Didn’t your wife tell you to loosen up?”
  310. >OH.
  311. >OH NO HE FUCKING DIDNT.
  312. >”Anonymous, be calm.” You hear from beside you.
  313. >Your vision is slowly turning red.
  314. >D:”Oooo Mama Hen won’t let her little chicky poo play? What’s a matter human? Can’t take a little jab?”
  315. “You know what Discord? I ain’t even mad.”
  316. >D:”Oh please. That line may work on other creatures, but I can see you seething with rage. Just like when you split that Drivers skull in two.”
  317. “How... How?” you sputter.
  318. >D:”Because you dolt. IT WAS ME!”
  319. >Dude. Brain here.
  320. Not interested right now brain.
  321. >Just gonna say, I’m behind you 100% whatever you choose to do.
  322. >”Anon, Celestia here, don’t do anything stupid.”
  323. >You look to your left, and Celestia has her horn pressed against your head.
  324. “Ok, Discord. One chance, let the Pegasus go, and surrender. Only going to ask once.” You say, crossing your arms.
  325. >D:”Oh my, the big bad Mage is all uppity because I killed his Wife and Child. Tell you what big boy? I’ll give you a free shot,” He pulls out a comical target “Go ahead. Make my day.”
  326. >You can feel rage overtaking you.
  327. >He tosses the unconscious Pegasus forward, from the sky.
  328. >The crowd panicking is still flooding out of the stadium.
  329. >You quickly port yourself, and the cloud, underneath the falling Pegasus.
  330. >You manage to catch him just in time.
  331. >You set the injured pony on the ground.
  332. >He groans in pain, his injuries very apparent.
  333. >You fly up to Discord, who has the biggest shit eating grin ever.
  334. >D:”Oooo Big boy gonna punch me?”
  335. >You don’t even answer.
  336. >You picked this trick up from Sunshine over there.
  337. >You place a finger on his head before he can react.
  338. “Let’s see what we have here...”
  339.
  340.
  341. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXgHHh4NlR8
  342. >You are suddenly in a dark cavern.
  343. >You cannot see for shit.
  344. >You try a spell, and light shines forth from your palm.
  345. >Well, that works.
  346. >Now, where are we?
  347. >You try to take in your surroundings.
  348. >Like previously stated, it looks like you are in one massive underground cavern.
  349. >There appears to be a lake of some sort at the bottom, with an altar in the middle of it.
  350. >You can hear a whimpering sound coming from somewhere.
  351. >You look around some more, and find a rather steep slope descending towards the lake.
  352. >You follow it.
  353. >You know you are his mind, but this is NOT what you expected at all.
  354. >When Celestia did it, it was much like your life flashed before your eyes.
  355. >Whatever this was, it did not seem to have many memories.
  356. >Or at least any you could find.
  357. >What the fuck was this thing?
  358. >You head further down the slope, occasionally stopping to look at your surroundings.
  359. >Once or twice you spot a crude depiction on the walls, but you can’t make anything of it.
  360. >You really should have read more history.
  361. >After about what seem liked five minutes of walking, you reach the bottom.
  362. >A large stone bridge extends out on to the middle island where the altar is.
  363. >The whimpering is louder now, and you can see movement coming from the altar.
  364. >You carefully make your way across.
  365. >You could almost swear the water is moving and congealing itself in random places.
  366. >Probably just the messed up nature of the mind.
  367. >You reach the small island, and can see movement.
  368. >Its...
  369. >what the hell?
  370. >”HELP ME! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD HELP ME!”
  371. >It’s...
  372. >A young Discord?
  373. >And he is chained down onto the altar.
  374. >Much of his flesh looks flayed, and even some of the bones are exposed.
  375. >The altar is coated in his blood, and a black viscous substance.
  376. “What kind of trick is this?”
  377. >He sees you, straining his neck around.
  378. >”PLEASE. HURRY! The shock of your entering has stunned IT. Free me!”
  379. >This is too much.
  380. “How can I trust you?”
  381. >”I KNOW YOU PROBABLY WONT, BUT PLEASE. TELL LUNA SOMETHING. TELL HER WHAT YOU SAW. IF SHE DOES NOT BELIEVE YOU, TELL HER THAT “The Birds Sing under the Sycamore Trees” AND THAT IT’S FROM HER OLD FRIEND SALAZAR.
  382. >The water begins to swirl around you.
  383. >”IT’S TO LATE! RUN, GET OUT OF ITS MIND WHILE YOU CAN!”
  384. >The water swirls faster and faster, forming into a singular shape.
  385. >A floating sphere.
  386. >With a single goat like eye.
  387. >Its very presence burns your mind.
  388. >And the vision fades.
  389.
  390. >You are back in the real world now.
  391. >And you are on Celestia’s back?
  392. >”Discord” stares at you, his eyes pitch black.
  393. “Wh-what are you?” you manage to sputter out, grasping at your skull.
  394. >He simply laughs, not the same tone as before.
  395. >This one much deeper.
  396. >”Ik umm-shay-layla. Los thur mik zxhyc! IA IA!” the creature bellows before flying off.
  397. “OH MY FUCKING GOD.” Is all you manage to say, as you watch Discord fly away, an inky black trail following him, as he heads to the ocean.
  398. “Nononnononononono” you mutter.
  399. >”ANON! What was it?”
  400. >You can’t even begin to comprehend.
  401. >Your mind is to collapsing in upon itself.
  402. >You are 200 years old.
  403. >You have seen some serious shit.
  404. >You feel like you’ve been to hell and back.
  405. >But this?
  406. >This transcended HELL by a long shot.
  407. >You could even say light-years.
  408. >”ANONYMOUS! SNAP OUT OF IT!” you hear her yell, her voice full of panic.
  409. >Dude, Brain here, she’s knocking this time, do I let her in?
  410. FUCK NO. Don’t let her see that.
  411. “Ok, Sunshine, I’m fine. DO NOT FOLLOW HIM.”
  412. >”He just attacked us. We need to get the Elements.”
  413. “NO. They won’t work against this. We need to go see Luna.”
  414. >”What could Luna possibly have to say about this?”
  415. “She knows more than she lets on.”
  416. >You spot Rainbow Dash still evacuating the bleachers.
  417. >You fly down there, leaving Celestia in the air.
  418. “Dash, I need you to listen very carefully. Whatever happened here today, do NOT tell the others.”
  419. >RD:”But Anon. It’s Discord!”
  420. >You sigh.
  421. “No, no it’s not.”
  422. >Today was NOT a good day.
  423.
  424. On a placid island of ignorance do we lye,
  425. Oblivious to the horrors of the mind’s eye,
  426. Once and a while the scales must tip, one taking a loss,
  427. Sometimes the side of Order, and sometimes for Chaos,
  428. But what one can be sure, is that the scales must strain,
  429. Or the world suffers, wracking unknowable pain,
  430. Those that dare to dream, of foreign seas and foreign sky,
  431. Might one day find themselves, hundreds of miles high.
  432. For birds sing in the Sycamore trees,
  433. Dream a little Dream of me...
