  1. “ALLEGRO, ALLEGRO, dadadadadadada, PRESTO, PRESTO”
  2. >”I’m trying Anon!” Spike says, resting his hands.
  3. “Again, young Spike.”
  4. >The piano continues along its haunting refrain.
  5. >The sounds of a melancholy tune flow through the early morning air.
  6. >You gaze out the window, as the young dragon works his craft.
  7. >The jagged rises and falls of the song you have him playing jar the morning silence.
  8. >You take a gentle sip of your morning coffee, and stare out at the dew laced grass.
  9. >Taking out your daily agenda you run over the list of things to do.
  10. >Rarity said she would be half way through the costume designs you had made up.
  11. >Since it was a royal commission, she had no problem accepting payment.
  12. >Except for your outfits.
  13. >You were still a bit peeved, but she IS the element of generosity after all.
  14. >The song proceeds wonderfully, Spike’s mastery of a particularly difficult tune has progressed astonishingly quick.
  15. >It was most likely due to his magical training, as well as his fervour for impressing a certain somep0ny.
  16. >You glance over, his fingers and magical aura pounding away at the keys.
  17. >He was getting much better.
  18. >But you wouldn’t let him know that just yet.
  19. >You silently head to the kitchen, listening to the sounds from deep below the ocean fill your house.
  20. >It’s a shame you would never get the chance to revisit that underwater city.
  21. >That underwater dystopia built upon the backbones of free men, and re-invented upon their bones.
  22. >You listen close as Spike approaches the middle section of the song.
  23. >Its jagged composition has no repeating elements, so it is very difficult to master.
  24. >You wait silently, not a single note out of place.
  25. >You open up your cupboard, reaching for a special little something for him.
  26. >Inside, lays a perfectly carved sapphire, which would have cost a fortune back home.
  27. >You found the rock in the hills a few days ago on one of your walks.
  28. >Apparently they were everywhere in the hills, if you were brave enough to chance an encounter with Diamond Dogs.
  29. >Fortunately, you have not seen hide nor hair of the beasts on your strolls.
  30. >Once you found it, you knew it would be the perfect reward for his efforts.
  31. >You pour yourself another cup of coffee.
  32. >This stuff was surprisingly strong.
  33. >You stretch your back, and begin making toast.
  34. “The most important meal of the day, serving it up, Anonys way.” You say, buttering the toast.
  35. >The song continues in the background as you hear him flub another line.
  36. >He goes back in the song, starting over.
  37. >You didn’t even need to harp at him this time.
  38. >He’s almost ready.
  39. >You sit down at the table with your toast, and the sapphire on another piece of toast on a separate plate.
  40. >You much away at the toast, until you hear a knock on the door.
  41. >You peer out the window.
  42. >It’s the paper.
  43. >You get up, your morning housecoat flowing behind you as you open the door.
  44. “Good morning Ditzy, how are you this morning?” you say in a hushed voice, pointing at the frantic dragon.
  45. >”Not bad Anon-e-moose, just dropping off your paper. He’s still working away, isn’t he?”
  46. “That he is, don’t tell anyone, but he’s almost got it.”
  47. >”That’s great, well; I should get back to the route.”
  48. “Alright, have a nice day.” You say, as the googly-eyed mare flies away.
  49. >And into a tree.
  50. >You could swear you heard her muttering something about something going wrong.
  51.
  52. >But the music of the song is nearing the end.
  53. >The sharp pitch, slowly drawing to a close.
  54. >And suddenly...
  55. >Silence.
  56. >”I-I did it!”
  57. >You walk up behind him, glaring.
  58. >he stares up into your green eyes.
  59. “Again.”
  60. >”But, but ANON. I DID IT.”
  61. “Yes. ONCE. Now little moth, again.” You say patting him on the head.
  62. >He sighs, and begins again.
  63. >You silently chuckle, as he feverishly pounds away at the keys.
  64. >You grab his plate, and place it on the piano.
  65. >He sees it and stops playing, his mouth watering.
  66. “Only after I hear it perfectly again.” You say slyly.
  67. >You take a seat in your armchair, and watch him work.
  68. >No longer was his pace frantic and chaotic, but patient and controlled.
  69. >His fingers and magical aura began moving with grace and poise, rather than rough determination, fighting a calm flow.
  70. >You watched in silence as he completed the work again, his bad juju erased.
  71. >You stand up, just as he reaches for the plate.
  72. >You break the Sapphire in two with your magic, and hand him half.
  73. “You will get the rest after you clean up the kitchen.”
  74. >If looks could kill...
  75. >”BUT YOU SAID.”
  76. “I know. I lied.” You say smugly, testing his reaction.
  77. >You place the other half of the sapphire in your robe pocket and walk up the stairs.
  78. >You can feel a slight tug as you ascend the steps.
  79. >He’s actually trying isn’t he?
  80. >Sure enough, the sapphire begins to lift out of your pocket.
  81. >You don’t even turn around, but you can hear him snickering.
  82. >You wouldn’t admit it quite yet, but you were proud of the little guy.
  83.
  84. >You head upstairs, and hop into the shower.
  85. >Thank goodness for the sanctity and universal constant of hot ablutions.
  86. >If they didn’t exist, you would not know what to do.
  87. >You scrub your hair with shampoo, and rinse out your growing beard.
  88. >Shaving was proving too much of a hassle, so you may as well just let it grow.
  89. >Fucking thing was coming in grey though.
  90. >Not much you can do about that.
  91. >Well, you could dye it, but seriously, fuck that.
  92. >At least it matched your black hair.
  93. >Scrub-a-dub-dub, Anon in the tub.
  94. >After a few minutes of gratuitous laziness, you emerge from the humid porcelain waterfall.
  95. >You look at yourself in the mirror.
  96. >You DID still look young, save for your salt-and-pepper hair and beard.
  97. >Fucking time.
  98. >How does it work?
  99. >You grab your nearby towel, and dry off.
  100. >Emerging from the bathroom, the steam quickly dissipates into your bedroom.
  101. >You decide today is a robe day.
  102. >You don your Robe, minus the Wizard hat, which still belonged to your junior apprentice.
  103. >Once downstairs, you notice he’s already gone, but your kitchen is spotless.
  104. >You check the time on the clock on the wall.
  105. >7:30AM
  106. >Sounds about right.
  107. >Twilight would just be getting up now, and he would have chores to do.
  108. >Speaking of which, so did you. Nightmare night was only a few days away, and you still had quite a few things to attend to.
  109. >Such as food, decorations, costumes, stage directions.
  110. >and above all else?
  111. >How to scare the living HELL out of everyp0ny.
  112. >You go over your notes, drawings of different costumes and potential schemes fell out of the folder onto the floor.
  113. >They were all labelled by number, from plans 1-25.
  114.
  115. >Did you mention you love Halloween?
  116. >Because you FUCKING LOVE Halloween.
  117. >It was always your favourite holiday.
  118. >It would take a lot of pre-planning and acting to get this one across, but you think you’ve got it covered.
  119. >You’ve sent many letters back and forth to the Princesses about your plan, and how they would fit into it.
  120. >How you would take care of the normal proceedings that go on every year, and then the REAL show would begin.
  121. >How Luna would descend from the sky with a flaming chariot.
  122. >How the town would be bombarded with harmless flames.
  123. >How Celestia would appear, and rally the locals.
  124. >And how would you work into all this?
  125. >Well,
  126. >It’s a secret to everyone.
  127. >You still had your illusions to set up, the aboveground-underwater castle.
  128. >The giant pumpkin field which had gourds FILLED with candy.
  129. >Hmm,
  130. >What else...
  131. >You pace around the room.
  132. >You would probably need the help of an experienced gardener to get the soil prepped, and the pumpkins growing.
  133. >Your magic could only work so far with organic material like that.
  134. >You WERE going to have animated skeletons made out of candy walking about, but after that incident, you decided to go with Marshmallow ghosts instead.
  135. >The Cakes were sure going to be busy.
  136. >OH
  137. >CANDYCORN
  138. >You can’t forget the most delicious of Halloween treats.
  139. >People would be finding candycorn everywhere for a long time afterwards if you had your way.
  140. >That should cover food and decorations.
  141. >On to costumes.
  142. >You had so many ideas for costumes.
  143.
  144. >Back home, there was a certain thing you followed on the internet for quite some time.
  145. >It’s popular tagline was “KIDS AND FUN” but those who followed it knew WAY better than to trust that bullshit.
  146. >Just before you were stranded here, the author was slowly revealing more and more about the infamous Lord of Time.
  147. >You fucking LOVED that guy.
  148. >Something about his loud, abrasive attitude, combined with a pimptastic demeanour screamed AWESOME.
  149. >At first you wanted to go full out on that.
  150. >But slowly you thought, Maybe dressing up as a time-travelling demon is not the best idea.
  151. >You’d settled on his #1 underling, the good Doctor, whose massive cranium would serve a dual purpose.
  152. >One, it was fuckhuge and awesome.
  153. >Second, it would allow you to conceal the second and third costumes.
  154. >You second one would be would remain a secret for now.
  155. >The third costume was a grimy old business suit for the haunted castle portion of the adventure.
  156. >You still needed another mask as well, but you could take care of that.
  157. >The Princesses costumes were coming along nicely as well.
  158. >Luna could provide her own costume, but you need to add a certain enchantment to a decorative crown.
  159. >Celestia’s gown was already in the works, and looked beautiful.
  160. >You also needed that costume for Spike.
  161. >You can’t wait to see him in that little tux.
  162. >You decided against informing the locals of the change in plans.
  163. >Even though Nightmare Night is for everyone, you had to make doubly sure everyp0ny got involved.
  164. >How else were you going to give out that much candy?
  165. >You wondered exactly how you were going to get around this.
  166.
  167. >After talking to the Mayor and Pinkie, you decided that your friends would meet outside the town limits by your house for the inauguration of Nightmare Night, just as the sun began to set.
  168. >Then you would lead a procession into town, gathering up everyone else.
  169.
  170. >Doing this, you could slowly reveal what you’ve been working on.
  171. >Then, steal all the candy.
  172. >Yes.
  173. >ALL OF IT.
  174. >Then,
  175. >That’s when the REAL fun would begin.
  176. >But enough planning.
  177. >You needed to go check on the preparations.
  178. >You head outside into the cool morning air.
  179. >What a lovely time of year the end of summer is.
  180. >The leaves on the trees were already beginning to turn a darker shade.
  181. >You begin your morning jaunt by heading down to Rarity’s.
  182. >Your leg has finally stopped paining after about 2 weeks.
  183. >It’s a good thing too considering all the running around you had to do to prepare for the day after tomorrow.
  184. >Soon enough, the Boutique comes into view.
  185. >You knock at the door, and Sweetie Belle opens it.
  186. “Good morning Sweetie, is Rarity around?”
  187. >”Yeah, she’s up in her workroom. She hasn’t let me in for almost a WEEK.”
  188. >You can see a look of disappointment on her face.
  189. “Now, I know for a fact that she’s working on something super special for everyp0ny in town, and it’s supposed to be a secret.”
  190. >Her eyes light up
  191. “Now, I don’t want you ruining any surprises, so promise you’ll be patient for a few more days.”
  192. >”Alright Mr. Anonymous!” she says, running off somewhere inside.
  193. >These young fillies had boundless energy.
  194. >You had no idea where they got it.
  195. >You head up the stairs, closing the door behind you.
  196. >You can already hear the sound of a sewing machine running.
  197. >You knock on the door and open it.
  198. >It looks like a hurricane has gone through this place.
  199.
  200. “Good morning Rarity.” You call out over the noise of the machine.
  201. >The machine stops, and she turns around “Oh Anon! Good. You’re here. I need your help with your outfits.”
  202. “That’s precisely the reason I came over. What’s the problem?”
  203. >”Oh not much, I just need to take a few more measurements and get you to try them on.” She says leading you over to a locked trunk.
  204. >She opens it up, revealing your three outfits.
  205. “OH MY GOD THATS AWESOME” you practically squeal as she lifts out the pure white and tuxedo with a green undershirt.
  206. >It even had the perfect coloured bow tie to match.
  207. >She lifts it out, revealing the grimy looking suit.
  208. >”You have NO IDEA how hard it was to get this colouring right. Just what are you planning Anon?”
  209. “Now now little moth, that would ruin the fun of this game wouldn’t it?” you say, tussling her mane.
  210. “How’s the mask coming?”
  211. >”It is drying now. Should be ready shortly”
  212. >She removes the garment, placing it alongside the other.
  213. >The last piece of the puzzle.
  214. >You lift it up, the dark tones and blood reds shimmering in the morning light.
  215. >It was perfect.
  216. “Rarity, I have no idea how you’ve managed to get all this done so fast. Especially with the poor designs I had given you.” You say grinning ear to ear.
  217.
  218. >”Well darling, you don’t make clothing for high profile clients without a little bit of talent.” She says smugly.
  219. “A little? I’d say this style clearly outclasses anything back home, or anything here even.”
  220. >She blushes as you try on the cape, its length perfect.
  221. >Over the course of the next hour and a bit, you’ve tried on the clothing, and Rarity made a few adjustments as necessary.
  222. >You also checked on Spike’s outfit, and Celestia’s outfit.
  223. >Both looked amazing.
  224. >You chat for a little while longer, filling her in on a few more details of your master plan.
  225. >She lends you a basket in which you can store your outfits while you go about your business in town.
  226. >You’d have to secure the Massive White Cranium yourself, but that would not be difficult to fabricate with a simple illusion spell.
  227. >By the time you leave the boutique, the sun is shining brightly in the sky.
  228. >You check your neat little pocket watch.
  229. >8:45AM
  230. >Plenty of time in the day.
  231. >Plenty of time to put the last part of your plan in motion.
  232.
  233. >You head into the Everfree forest.
  234. >You needed to pay a certain zebra a visit.
  235. “So, this will cause the vomiting, but with no other side effects?”
  236. >”Your stomach will be upset this is true, but your body will fine, knowing you.”
  237. >Damn this one and her rhyming.
  238. >But she does have impeccable timing.
  239. >DAMMIT NOW YOU’RE DOING IT.
  240. “Perfect, so, you’re ready for the big night then?”
  241. >”I am indeed human dear, I’ve always enjoyed this night of fear.”
  242. “Great. So I can count on you for crowd control when the party get’s started?”
  243. >”Pen them in town square shall I, while you pretend to fall down and die”
  244. “Excellent. I’ll make sure to bring anything up if plans change. For now, I’ve got an act to put on.” You say, grabbing the bubbling vial and heading out of her hut.
  245. >”See you soon my good mage, we shall bring excitement onto the stage!”
  246. >You wave goodbye and port yourself to the outskirts of town.
  247. >One last stop before the show begins.
  248. >SugerCube corner.
  249. >The pinnacle of confection cuisine.
  250.
  251. >You open the door, the bell chiming.
  252. >It’s actually quite empty today.
  253. >Mr. Cake is at the till reading the morning paper.
  254. “Hey Mr.Cake, how are the foals doing?”
  255. >”Oh, Anonymous! Good to see you!” he says with big smile.
  256. >That’s most likely for the 400 bit order you placed.
  257. >Yeah, you went big on the food expenditure, but you DID have to give out candy to the whole town.
  258. >300 more bits went to Rarity for the costumes, and the rest went to decorations.
  259. >Those were surprisingly cheap.
  260. “How’s the order coming along Mr.Cake?”
  261. >”Great, just great. We finished the batches of Candycorn earlier today, and we’re working on the other sweets now. Pinkie’s been in that kitchen for almost 24 solid hours.”
  262. “Goodness, I didn’t realise. Maybe I should head on in and lend a hand.”
  263. >”No, no, everything will be fine and ready on time. The only thing I need to know is where you want all of these goods. Shall I have them delivered to your house?”
  264. “No, I’ve got a special place for them. Come outside with me.”
  265. >You hold open the door as he follows you through.
  266. >You head down to the town square, where the Stage was being set up.
  267. “Now Mr.Cake, all of this is a secret for now. On Nightmare Night, Pinkie will take the goods and store them in here” you say, pointing up to the stage.
  268. >A large cauldron pops forth, having been hidden by your magic.
  269. >he gasps at the sheer size of it.
  270. “That’s why the order had to be big. Just make sure everything is ready, and I’ll take care of the rest.”
  271. >He nods, and the two of you head back to Sugercube corner.
  272.
  273. >You emerge a few minutes later after discussing a few things about the confectionaries.
  274. >Apparently, and luckily for you, Candycorn was surprisingly resilient and would last for quite some time.
  275. >It’s a good thing you ordered a ton of it.
  276. >You left the bakery with your basket of clothes, and a paper bag FILLED with candycorn.
  277. >the town was bustling now, as it approached 9:30.
  278. >You headed down the street, ready to make your last stop of the day.
  279. >And begin the set of events that would shape a night for all to remember.
  280. >Slowly you approach Twilight’s treehouse.
  281. >Knocking on the door, you take a swig of the elixir Zecora provided for you.
  282. >Twilight answer’s the door, and who can already feel the potion taking effect.
  283. >”Oh Anonymous. How are yo... you look terrible!” she says, backing away from you.
  284. “Yeah, I haven’t been feeling all that well lately...” you say, no two words of a lie.
  285. >Your stomach felt like crap.
  286. >She leads you inside and you lean on a bookcase, cradling your aching stomach.
  287. “I came to see if you had anything for an upset stomach.”
  288. >”Oh my, let me take a look.” She says, dashing off to the kitchen.
  289. >Spike comes wandering in while she’s in there.
  290. “All according to plan little buddy. Come see me tomorrow morning for further practice.”
  291. >He smiles and nods.
  292. “Oh, and sorry about this. It’s the price we both have to pay for a convincing evening.”
  293. >Twilight comes back with a cup of tea.
  294. >But before she hands it to you,
  295. “BLARGH” you vomit in the trashcan sitting next to you and pass out.
  296. >All according to plan.
  297.
  298. >You awake in your bed, Rarity and Pinkie are sitting in your room.
  299. “Hey, bit creepy.”
  300. >R:”YOU’RE AWAKE.” Rarity exclaims “Why would you do something so stupid Anon!” she says, shoving a marshmallow hoof into your chest.
  301. >You stomach recoils from the impact, even that it was soft.
  302. “I had to do something to set the scene. You obviously don’t realize my pranking operates on a completely different level.
  303. >Pinkie smiles and laughs bringing you a glass of water.
  304. “Where are the others?”
  305. >P:”Downstairs silly-filly. You should have told us what you were up to. We could have helped.” She said
  306. >You gingerly sip the water.
  307. “Thanks for the offer, but the two of you have done more than enough so far.” You say, trying to get comfy.
  308. >You hear hoofsteps coming up the steps as the rest of the mane six enter your room.
  309. >T:”How are you feeling Anon?” Twilight asks, and obvious look of worry on her face.
  310. >Oh man, she was going to be so mad after all this.
  311. “I’m fine. Really. Just feeling a bit weird that’s all.”
  312. >AJ:”Well, I dunno about that partner, you look mighty pale. Like you’ve got on talkin too long.”
  313. “Well, thankfully I don’t have to narrate anything for a few days.”
  314. “Honestly, thank you for all the support, I think I’m just feeling a bit overtired, that’s all. Say, would anyone happen to know a good recipe for pumpkin soup?”
  315. >They all seem a bit taken aback by your rather random request.
  316. >F:”I know a recipe. I can bring over a batch if you want...” Fluttershy says in the most adorably soft voice ever.
  317. “Thanks Fluttershy, I really appreciate it. Now, if you would excuse me, I think I need some rest.”
  318. >Each of the p0nies bid farewell as you snuggle into the bed.
  319. >You could afford to be lazy this afternoon.
  320.
  321.
  322.
  323. Meanwhile on a far off mountain peak...
  324. >“And so I said to him, NO YOU FOOL, YOU’LL KILL US ALL!”
  325. >“Then, he jumps like 10 feet in the air dropping the vase, breaking his talon.”
  326. >The two gryphon guards laugh as they stand guard outside of a fallen temple.
  327. >The sounds of digging and construction filled the snowy night air.
  328. “My, my that was a riveting tale. It almost reminds of the story of two lazy workers who cared not for their job. Let’s just say their replacements had to clean up the mess.” A cloaked figure behind them says.
  329. >They jump and snap to attention.
  330. “Now gentlemen, what have we learned?”
  331. >”Too uh, not get distracted?” the gryphon who told the joke says
  332. “Very good” he chimes, flinging him off the side of the mountain.
  333. “You’ve got single watch duty now. Try and keep your eyes open hmm?”
  334. >”SIR YES SIR” the terrified gryphon said.
  335. >No manner of creature could fly in these winds tonight.
  336. >The cloaked figure wanders down into the excavation zone.
  337. >Much of the heavy lifting was underway, including the removal of many of the fallen columns blocking the inner sanctum.
  338. >Employment was fast and dirty, many of the recruits were those with shady pasts, or criminal records longer than his once glorious beard.
  339. >He trudged along, regarding how much progress was being made in individual sectors.
  340. >Although truly only the inner sanctum mattered, he wanted this place to be restored to its former glory.
  341. >The howling winds echoed menacingly off the walls as he made his way deeper into the temple which he once called home.
  342. >Many of the intricate carvings from a time-gone-by were decimated when the structure initially collapsed, and the weather effects took their toll.
  343. >It’s a shame what he had to do to this place to keep everything quiet.
  344.
  345. >What once used to be a lush, fertile land turned into an arctic tundra.
  346. >He tried to save as many of the locals as he could, bringing them under his employment for a short period.
  347. >Many of the unicorn king’s former staff comprised his ranks for the longest time, and for a while, he had a small standing army.
  348. >They too shared his complaints about the new order of things.
  349. >They too sought knowledge.
  350. >Knowledge that was slowly being erased.
  351. >And that is when he decided to make his stand.
  352. >He arrived at the furthest dig site.
  353. >Sector alpha.
  354. >This was as close as they had gotten so far to the inner sanctum.
  355. >His many employees were still digging away, late in to the night.
  356. >He himself did not need to sleep, so he would often wander around the site, making sure they were not slacking.
  357. >Time was of the essence.
  358. >Progress was slow, but deliberate.
  359. >There were a few mechanical devices in his employment, but much of the progress was simply made through manual labour.
  360. >Wandering over to the foreman’s table, he checked the plans.
  361. >It looked like in about two months time they would reach their destination.
  362. >At first he was furious at the extent of the damage.
  363. >He himself had cleared an entire wing in a fit of rage, but it left him severely drained.
  364. >”FIRE IN THE HOLE!” one of the workers yells as a magical blast goes off.
  365. >Turning, he sees that the blast opened up into one of the more intact wings of the temple.
  366. >He heads on over, as the dust settles.
  367. “Foreman, leave you men outside for now. They may take a break whilst I investigate.” He says to the managerial gryphon.
  368. >”Yes sir, ALRIGHT MAGGOTS YOU HEARD HIM, BACK AWAY!” the gryphons voice boomed.
  369.
  370. >This one was a decent worker.
  371. >The cloaked figure carefully steps through the new opening.
  372. >He illuminates the entirety of the hall with a quick spell.
  373. >It looks like the new supports he had built here helped withstand all the destruction.
  374. >A little bit of work above, and this place would be like new.
  375. >He strolled down the halls, retracing his steps from over a millennia ago.
  376. >If he was not mistaken...
  377. >He opens a rotten looking door, which creaks as it goes.
  378. >Sure enough, he was right.
  379. >His old bedroom.
  380. >He illuminates it with a quick spell, revealing the age and disrepair of it.
  381. >He sighs, even though he was expecting this.
  382. >He heads over to a large dresser, opening it.
  383. >The top drawer slides open, revealing a small lockbox inside.
  384. >He trips the magical lock, and it pops open, a tune playing on ancient gears.
  385. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0aBSeZacM4&feature=related
  386. >He places the music box on the dresser as he looks through the rest of the room, its melancholy song echoing throughout the halls.
  387. “Dancing Mares, Painted Wings,” he mutters
  388. >He opens a large wardrobe, revealing an intricately designed robe, complete with jingling bells.
  389. >He almost smiles as he pulls it out, throwing it over his tattered cloak.
  390. >He continues rummaging through it
  391. >He lets out an audible gasp as he pulls out a large white gown.
  392. >Behind it lays a decayed floral wreath on a hook.
  393. >The old wizard is too caught up in the past to hear the scratching of talons behind him.
  394. “Things I almost remember, and a song someone sings,”
  395. >”Once upon a December” the gryphon supervisor behind him completes.
  396. >He whirls around, seeing the gryphon standing there, a puzzled look on his face.
  397.
  398. >”That’s a very old song boss, and isn’t it a bit early for Hearth’s Warming carols?”
  399. “What do you mean?” the mage says
  400. >”Well, that’s a famous love ballad, centred around Hearths Warming Eve, a love story between two star-crossed p0nies.”
  401. “So she never forgot...” he says, almost a whisper.
  402. >”What was that boss?”
  403. “Nothing.” He says smashing the music box against a wall with his will.
  404. “Just a figment of the past, best left forgotten.”
  405. >The mage emerges into the light, and for the first time, revealing his skeletal appearance.
  406. “Tell the workers to not react. The first one who does receives an express trip down the mountain. I will be in my quarters” he says stuffing the dress into a satchel.
  407. >The gryphon nearly vomits at the sight, but keeps his cool.
  408.  “And one more thing...”
  409. >”Yes sir?” the gryphon says turning around.
  410. “Tell no one about this, and it’ll mean a promotion for you. Captain.”
  411. >He nods quickly and quietly.
  412. “These premises are off limits to everyone. No one is to go in this wing.”
  413. >Star-Swirls boney hoofsteps echo throughout the halls, sounding even hollower than before.
  414. >The ghosts of the past bow to him as he walks along.
  415. >He heads farther down the hall, humming a tune he wished he forgot.
  416. >Once upon a December.
  417.
  418. >Tonight’s the NIGHT!
  419. >You were SO EXCITED!
  420. >Last night, you and Pinkie snuck around town, setting up all the decorations, and making them invisible until the absolute perfect moment.
  421. >You had just finished putting the finishing touches on your CueBall Head enchantment, and your costumes were pressed and ready to go.
  422. >Earlier in the day, you ported yourself up to the castle, and finished explaining your plan.
  423. >Princess Luna was a bit leery at the whole chariot idea, but you quickly convinced her it would only be for a short time.
  424. >Celestia first laughed at the concept, but with a steely gaze from Luna quickly hushed.
  425. >You were absolutely giddy at this point.
  426. >Two weeks of planning would culminate in a massively orchestrated takeover of the town.
  427. >It was hard enough to keep this a secret form most of the town, but it hurt especially to keep it from most of your friends.
  428. >Well, it didn’t hurt THAT bad.
  429. >The sun would be setting soon, and you needed to round up all the p0nies in town and get them to your place before the festivities could truly begin.
  430. >You grab your Doc outfit, and quickly get changed.
  431. >NOW THIS IS FANCY.
  432. >You also require a cane, since you need to complete the ensemble.
  433. >Heading outside into the cool evening air, you break a larger branch off a tree.
  434. >A little bit of magic later, and you’ve got a perfect replica of a certain Lord of Time’s sceptre.
  435. >Shame the homage will be lost on everyone.
  436. >You start your stroll into town, getting ready for the big show.
  437.
  438. >You asked specifically for your friends to meet you outside Rarity’s as you gather up the townsfolk.
  439. >Sure enough, all of them, are there.
  440. >Applejack and Applebloom, Rarity and Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, but where’s Fluttershy?
  441. “Good evening everyp0ny, glad to see you could make it. Where’s Fluttershy?”
  442. >T:”Oh, she never participates in Nightmare Night. She’s much to afraid to come out with us.”
  443. “Well, that’s too bad. Although I guess it’s kind of a good thing. Everyone is going to have a fright tonight.”
  444. >T:”Are you sure you should be out Anon? Especially after the other day...”
  445. “Oh no, I’m fine honestly. Just a strange hankering for pumpkins. And Candy Corn. That’s all.”
  446. >You would have put on your best smile, if you’re head was not obscured by a massive cue ball.
  447. >AJ:”So, whatcha supposed to be Anon? Some kind of butler?” Applejack says, she’s dressed up as a scarecrow this year.
  448. “Why good friends, I am the Scratch Doctor, and I am an excellent host.”
  449. >P:”HOW FITTING! Your Hosting the party!” Pinkie cheers
  450. “And that’s not all my dear, there’s more to my costume then that” you say slyly.
  451. “Now, come along friends, Nightmare Night waits for no p0ny!”
  452. >You take off, walking LIKE A BOSS, as you head down p0nyville proper.
  453. >Many of the townsfolk were already out, wondering at the lack of decorations.
  454. “Now pay attention girls, this is how I celebrate Nightmare Night.” You say, approaching the first few houses.
  455.
  456. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=vHLgob-PpIk#t=84s
  457. You begin singing at the top of your lungs “Fillies and Colts of every age, would you like to see something strange?
  458. >All of them turn to see you and your entourage, you feet trailing a sickly green fire.
  459. >Wicked nasty burns yo.
  460. “Nightmare Night is for you to see, this your town turned for Halloween!”
  461. >You cast an orb of green fire over their heads.
  462. >The light from the fire begins illuminating the decorations across all their homes and down the street.
  463. “THIS IS NIGHTMARE NIGHT, THIS IS NIGHTMARE NIGHT” you yell, swinging around a lamppost, the top turning into a pumpkin
  464. “Haunted screams in the dead of night!”
  465. “This is Nightmare night, this is Nightmare Night, everyp0ny on the scene, Trick-or-treat until your bags are full and tight!”
  466. >By now, your following has begun to grow larger as you approach the town square.
  467. “In this town, you call home, everyone hail Pumpkin Song!” you sing, as a large Pumpkin appears overtop the clocktower.
  468. >They have no idea how hard that was to get up there.
  469. >You turn the teeming parade to the other side of town, where the mayor is standing in front of you.
  470. >She’s dressed as a witch this year.
  471. >You nod at her, and she begins:
  472. >”In this town, don't we love it now? Everyp0ny's waiting for the Night’s surprise!”
  473. >Fucking perfect
  474.
  475. >You continue the while trudging around town, decorations appearing as you go.
  476. >You adjust the words further, to take out the nastier parts for the young ones in the crowd.
  477. >Soon enough, your precession takes another turn, heading more so towards the town square.
  478. >Mayor:”Nightmare Moon might catch you rather soon, and scream like a banshee making you jump with fright! This is Nightmare night, this is Nightmare night! Would you please make way, for the guest of the night!” The mayor says, whilst you ascend onto the stage.
  479. “This is Nightmare Night! This is Nightmare Night! In this town, WE call home, everyone hail to the moonlight song!” you finish, as all the p0nies gather around the stage, stomping their hooves in approval.
  480. “Fillies and Gentlecolts, and children of all ages! Welcome to a rather special Nightmare Night!”
  481. >Once again, stomping in approval.
  482. “Now, you may or may not know me from around town, but tonight, I am your friendly neighbourhood Anonymous, master of Scaremonies.”
  483. >Laughter
  484. >Good, cheesy one-lines are still comedy.
  485. “Tonight, we have a rather special line of entertainment set up, but first, how many are out here celebrating their first nightmare night?”
  486. >There are a few raised hooves in the crowd.
  487. “Very good, now, I’ve got a very special friend here, ready to give tell you the spooky history behind this Night.”
  488. >You welcome Zecora onto the stage, and she begins her tale.
  489.
  490. >Stepping down behind the curtain, you finally spot Spike.
  491. >Aww, he in his widdle suit.
  492. “Looking good my partner in crime, ready to put on the show of your LIFE?”
  493. >”You know it!” he says, giving you a Bro-fist.
  494. “Remember, when you get to my place, you NEED to light the fires right away. The illusion will take a while to fully materialize, but if my calculations are correct, it should be fully lit by the time the townsfolk make it.”
  495. >”Gotcha, it sounds like Zecora’s almost done her speech.”
  496. “Perfect timing, alright little man, see you on the other side.” You say, as you head back up on stage.
  497. “Now, wasn’t that spooky everyone? But before we break and head off to a night of fun, I would like to regale you with a little story of my own...”
  498. >The crowd buzzes with excitement, and the mayor looks worried.
  499. >You didn’t tell her about this part.
  500. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtudFrfRH3I&feature=related
  501. “Back where I come from, we have a similar holiday to yours, except we call it Halloween.”
  502. >The deep sound of the music helps with the ambiance.
  503. “Now, there’s a particular legend we have about Halloween back home.”
  504. >The crowd is really getting into this.
  505. “It says that if no member of a family should practice the required rituals, the curse of the OLD LANDS would take them.”
  506. >The crowd gasps.
  507. “Now, the details of this curse are fuzzy at best, but it does involve a craving for pumpkins...”
  508. >You spot your friends become rather uncomfortable where they are standing.
  509. “And that’s just the first part. It’s often followed by a sickness in the stomach.” You say, collapsing to one knee.
  510. >On cue, Spike rushes to your side.
  511. >”Anonymous! You feeling ok?”
  512. >He helps you stand up.
  513. >The mayor rushes to your side as well.
  514. “Thanks, I felt sick there for a second.”
  515.
  516. >The crows looks anxious.
  517. “The third sign will be a sudden darkening of the clouds above where the person is...”
  518. >And on cue again, the sky above you darkens menacingly.
  519. >Twilight yells from the crowd, “Anonymous! You fit all those descriptions! Don’t you have any family back home?”
  520. >Thank you Captain Obvious.
  521. “You know, now that you mention it, it was my turn this year to perform the ritual.”
  522. >Spike takes a step backwards as you gently shove the mayor away.
  523. >You take a step backwards and burst into green flame.
  524. “AHHHHHHHHH!”
  525. >The crowd gasps and begins to panic, but the flames spreading from your body trap them inside.
  526. >Thanks to Zecora’s handywork as well, the strategic placement of tables and such kept them fenced in.
  527. >Soon your apparent screams of agony turn into laughter.
  528. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLlgxOo55IQ&feature=related
  529.  >The fires quickly burn out, revealing a new set of clothes, but the Cue Ball head stays, but quite burned.
  530. >Everyone stops panicking as you raise your hands.
  531. “Prepare...” you say softly
  532. >The crowd looks confused
  533. >You rip off the helmet, revealing your flaming pumpkin faced visage and yell:
  534. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miueSCR5pFY (0.00-0.22)
  535. >The crowd goes FULL LOCO now.
  536. >P0nies begin to scatter everywhere, when suddenly a blinding light goes off behind them.
  537.
  538. >C:”ANONYMOUS! I KNOW NOT WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU, BUT I WILL NOT LET YOU HARM MY LITTLE P0NIES!”
  539. >You let out another bellowing laugh, as you chuck fireballs on top of the town.
  540. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miueSCR5pFY (1.03-1.12)
  541. >You rip off the pumpkin head, and toss it into the air where it floats menacingly, laughter coming from it.
  542. >Spike rushes over to you, and tries to climb up your pant leg in order to grab the helm.
  543. >Twilight yells something in the crowd.
  544. “Harken curr ‘tis you a spurn, now feel the BURN!” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miueSCR5pFY (1.40-1.47)
  545. >Spike bursts into flame and disappears into the night.
  546. >Celestia charges towards you, her beautiful dress flowing behind her.
  547. >C:”What have you done with Spike you monster!”
  548. “Tis none of your concern Princess dear, I should think it is your Sister you would fear!”
  549. >And with that line, Nightmare Moon emerges from the sky, a flaming chariot being dragged behind her.
  550. “The town still burns, a cleansing fire, time is short, I’ll soon retire!” you bellow jumping onto the chariot.
  551. >Waving your arms above your head, all the candy and food gathered around swirls out of the pots and houses and floats towards your house.
  552. >P0nies around town are desperately trying to put out the fires, although no harm has been done.
  553. >They gather around, some of the braver ones even trying to get up on stage.
  554. >You blow them back with a light gust of wind.
  555. >Chortling, you scream:
  556. “It seems at last, the night I’ve won, should you chance to repeat the past, your fate will be DONE!” you laugh, as Nightmare Moon flies towards your house, which is now glowing eerily on the other side of town.
  557.
  558. >L:”That was rather dark Anonymous.” Luna says as you fly towards your home.
  559. “Tis all in the spirit of the Holiday m’lady. Now, the sooner we land, the sooner I can change costume. Your sister should be upon us shortly.”
  560. >As you approach your home on the far side of town, the large illusionary dome has become visible.
  561. >It took days of casting and etching runes to make sure everything was in order.
  562. >The dome, which was covered by a large globe of water had a single entrance.
  563. >Behind it, lay a large pumpkin patch where you will store your misbegotten goods.
  564. “You are enjoying this night aren’t you Princess?” you ask, as you land in front of the dome.
  565. >L:”Of course! It is a holiday in my honor after all.”
  566. “Good to hear, now. Let us spread some fear.” You say, casting a spell to illuminate the words on the arches leading into the dome.
  567. >L:”Pray tell Anon, where did you come up with all of these ideas?”
  568. “Honestly Princess, I didn’t. These are works from men far greater then myself.”
  569. >L:”And what do these words mean? Their intention is lost upon us.”
  570. >You look up at the flaming words.
  571.
  572. “My dear, it comes from a land, where the artist does not fear the censor, where the Great are not constrained by the small and the scientist is not contained by petty morality!”
  573. >Luna looks at you quizzically, as if you were speaking another language.
  574. “It’s a long story, just think of it as spooky.”
  575. >L:”We shall. Come, let us see to young spike.”
  576. “Yes, let us check on the little moth...” you say, shedding the extra layers of clothing, your grimy suit now visible.
  577. >You open the door, grabbing the bunny mask off the wall inside.
  578. >As you slam the door, an imposing face made of flame rears above the dome.
  579. “NO GODS OR KINGS. ONLY MAN” it reads, as music fills the late night air.
  580. >A jolly but albeit too low pitched song begins to play.
  581. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8OlDPqYBLw
  582.
  583.
  584. >You are now Twilight Sparkle, and you have NO IDEA WHAT THE BUCK IS GOING ON.
  585. >First, Anonymous starts an unexpected speech.
  586. >then begins talking about a curse.
  587. >Then Spike...
  588. >Poor spike...
  589. >”Twilight!” Princess Celestia booms over top her students head.
  590. >You shake your head.
  591. “Princess, what do we do! The town, Anonymous, Princess Luna!” you begin saying
  592. >She silences you with a stare.
  593. >”1. Rally the p0nies to put out the fires. 2. Anon told me that this might happen and what to do in case. 3. Nightmare Moon is under his influence as well, if we stop him, we stop her. 4. Spike is still alive, but he’s being held by Anonymous. I need you and your friends to accompany me to his home, where we will see what has transpired.”
  594. >You look around, as p0nies begin gathering up buckets of water around town, and splashing them on the fire.
  595. >As the fires sizzle, you notice...
  596. >Candycorn?
  597. >As each fire dissipates, candy corn flies out in small bags.
  598. “Uhh, Princess?
  599. >”Merely a side effect of the curse. This holiday was designed around the distribution of sweets and honouring the dead. Since Anonymous has done neither in time, he is being possessed by the spirits of his family long dead, and his mayhem produces sweets.”
  600. >Looking around, you notice the children of the town merrily putting out the fires, scooping up as much candy as they can.
  601. >”CITIZENS OF P0NYVILLE!” Celestia booms overhead “ONCE THE FIRES HAVE BEEN TAKEN UNDER CONTROL, YOU WILL ALL GATHER AT THE HUMANS HOUSE. WE WILL NEED YOUR AID.”
  602. >The crowd cheers and re-doubles their efforts at quenching the fires.
  603.
  604. >You gather up your friends and follow Celestia as you make for Anon’s house.
  605. “So, what else do we know about this curse Princess?”
  606. >P:”Yeah! Does he give out candy if we hit him hard enough?” Pinkie says, hopping along.
  607. >AJ:”Pinkie! Now’s not tha time fer thinkin bout food! Spike could be in danger!”
  608. >P:”But he’s fine si-“
  609. >Rarity places a hoof over her mouth.
  610. >R:”She means to say, of course we are worried.” Rarity says with a crooked smile.
  611. >What has gotten into everyp0ny tonight?
  612. >As you approach the house, you notice the evil face in the sky.
  613. “No Gods or Kings. Only Man?” you ask timidly approaching the flaming archway.
  614. >Celestia laughs.
  615. >”Oh how silly.”
  616. “Princess?”
  617. >”I uh, I mean, this was one of his crazy ancestors. A man who was a brilliant composer and showman. Once, a very long time ago, people of Anonymous’ race lived underwater in great glass cities. Unfortunately, this had dire consequences. He would not tell me what his ancestor did, but all he would say is to stay out of the light.”
  618. >You gulp nervously as you approach the giant metal door leading into the dome.
  619. >The night becomes silent, as the door grinds open on its tracks.
  620. >Celestia is the first one to enter the dark and damp hallway.
  621. >The rest of you follow suit, entering the metal tomb.
  622. >As the last of you follow suit, the door slams shut, and the lights go out.
  623. >A nearby device is illuminated by a light, and you pick it up with your magic.
  624. >It crackles, and a button saying “PUSH ME” is the only thing on it.
  625. >You push it with your hoof, and you can hear heavy breathing on the other side.
  626.
  627. >”I could have been the toast of Broadway, the talk of Hollywood. But, instead, I followed you to this fairy tale land. When you needed my help, I saved you. But now I rot, waiting for a way back that will... never... come... I'm writing something for you, Princess Celestia... it's a requiem.
  628. >”Now once again little moth, play me a song...” you hear.
  629. >You can also faintly hear a sobbing coming from the radio.
  630. >The audio cuts out, the radio going dead.
  631. >The other door opens, leading into what appears to be an old movie theatre.
  632. >RD:”What the buck is going on?” rainbow curses, flying ahead.
  633. “I’m not sure, but none of this is real, is it Princess?”
  634. >C:”You are quite right my student. This is all an illusion spell cast by Anonymous, but while he maintains control, everything here is just as deadly as it was in the real world.”
  635. >P:”SO THAT MEANS THIS POPCORN IS REAL TOO!” Pinkie says grabbing a bag of popcorn off of a stand.
  636. >She munches into it, only to spit it out a second later.
  637. >P:”Eww, mouldy!” she says, brushing off her tongue.
  638. >You would face-hoof it you weren’t so concerned at the moment.
  639. “What should we do Princess?
  640. >C:”I suggest we split up. I will take upstairs and look for a way to open this door, you and your friends should look down here.” She says, heading up a flight of stairs and out of sight.
  641. >Looks like you where in charge.
  642. “Alright, Rainbow, see if you can break the glass door.” You say.
  643.
  644. >Rainbow flies into the door as fast as she could in the confined room.
  645. >She slams into the glass hard.
  646. >The pane shudders back, knocking her to the ground.
  647. >No luck.
  648. “Alright everyone, split up, look for a hidden switch or lever. There should be something around here.” You say, being reminded of your experience back at the tower.
  649. >The five of you split up, scouring the room.
  650. >Applejack checks behind the bar area
  651. >Rainbow begins pulling on all the lights on the walls.
  652. >Pinkie is...
  653. >Eating popcorn.
  654. >You let out an audible sigh, and see Rarity checking herself in a mirror.
  655. >You head over to the door, examining the glass.
  656. >It seems solid enough.
  657. >You try and think back the strange things Anon had said the past few days.
  658. >He would say something, and then have no recollection of saying it.
  659. >One day he said “Things are not always as they appear, sometimes, the most obvious solution is the correct one.”
  660. >Hmm...
  661. >P:”WHATCHA DOIN?” Pinkie says right next to you.
  662. >You jump like 6 feet in the air.
  663. “PINKIE! One of these days...” you say, straightening your now frizzled mane.
  664. >P:”One of these days what?”
  665. “Nothing” you say.
  666. >P:”One of these days Nothing? That’s not very fun.”
  667. >Wat.
  668. >Confound this mare, she drives you to read.
  669. >Read up on how someone can be so...
  670. >So...
  671. >Wait.
  672. “Pinkie! Your brilliant!”
  673. >P:”I know, I try!” she says with a huge grin.
  674.
  675. “Come over here girls!” you call.
  676. >They all speed over, and look at you.
  677. >AJ:”Did ya find something Twi?”
  678. “Not at all, and that’s exactly it!”
  679. >They all let out an audible huh?
  680. “Well, if there’s no clear way to open it, why not just knock?” you say, knocking on the glass.
  681. >And sure enough, it slides open, the sounds of music permeating the air.
  682. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlu2z2gkhhI
  683. >A:”Come into my lair, said the spider to the fly...” you can hear called from inside.
  684. >The five of you rush through the door, and into a large auditorium.
  685. >At the far end, you can see Spike chained to a large Piano, his little arms flying over the keys.
  686. >A:”So good of you to join us girls, young Spike here ways giving old Fitzpatrick a run for his money as my star pupil!”
  687. >Anon is standing there, in a grimy suit wearing some sort of golden rabbit mask.
  688. >C:”What have you done to him Anonymous!” Celestia bellows from behind you.
  689. >A:”Ah, so Mother hen came out to play.” He says advancing down the stairs.
  690. >A:”Would you care to join me for a dance?” he says, outstretching an arm.
  691. >You whirl around, seeing a glazed look in the Princess’ eyes.
  692. “Princess?” you call out as she trots down the laneway.
  693. >She nears Anonymous, he sticks out his hand.
  694. >She places her hoof in it, and they begin to dance.
  695. >A:”Now girls, isn’t this a wonderful night? So peaceful and serene.”
  696. >He continues dancing, while moving up onto the stage.
  697. >A:”Such a beautiful night, the waters shimmer with the cool currents, and the damp halls breathe noxious fumes.”
  698.
  699. “What have you done Anon!” you yell
  700. >A:”Why me? Nothing at all my young purple friend. I’m simply doing what was requested of me.”
  701. >Rainbow Dash pipes up “Yeah? Well I request you knock it off, before I knock you out!”
  702. >A:”Ooo so brave for a flying turkey, why don’t you come down here and say that?”
  703. >Dash fumes, and charges him.
  704. “Dash wait!” you yell, but all too late as she smacks into a force field surrounding the stage.
  705. >Anonymous laughs maniacally as she skids to the ground.
  706. >A”Oh my, having a bit of trouble there Rainbow Crash?”
  707. >Spike suddenly stops playing, the song running its erratic course.
  708. >A:”Well done little moth, you have earned your freedom. And it seems that the rest of the guests have arrived. I would be a terrible host if I did not welcome them. Come along, my little p0nies. Let us welcome the townsfolk unto the night.”
  709. >Spike’s ankle chain breaks, freeing him from the Piano.
  710. >He rushes over to your side, apparently unscathed.
  711. >The glass walls, which held out the vast torrent of water break as the Illusion begins to fade.
  712. >Water rushes in, quickly sweeping everyone off their hooves.
  713. >The water swirls around the room, as if draining down some invisible hole.
  714. >The six of you quickly run back through the door from whence you came, as Anonymous lets out that eerie haunting laugh.
  715. >As you reach the first hallway, the illusion collapses behind you, revealing a large pumpkin patch.
  716. >You hear the voices of townsfolk behind you, and see a collection of pitchforks and torches in the crowd.
  717. >Looking deeper into the pumpkin patch, you spot Anonymous floating in the sky, with Princes Celestia still dancing.
  718. >Seemingly out of nowhere, Nightmare Moon descends from the sky, landing on a massive jack-o-lantern.
  719.
  720. >You see the mayor come up behind you and yell “Anonymous! This has gone too far!”
  721. >A:”Too far my dear? Why, the night’s hardly begun. What’s the shame in having a little fun?”
  722. >A:”Has romantic as this has been my fair lady, it is time for you to snap out of it.” He says, Celestia disappearing, and then re-appearing beside you.
  723. >C:”Oh my head...” she says, trying to get her bearings.
  724. >You look back up at Anonymous, who is back in his horseman’s attire.
  725. >Anonymous removes his pumpkin head, and flings it into the air.
  726.  “Your time grows short, my power grows,
  727. “You’ve assaulted my fort, and gathered in the droves,
  728. “Should you wish to take back the night,
  729. “Then you must prepared, to face your fright!”
  730. >The ground shudders, as many of the pumpkins begin to grow exponentially.
  731. >A:”Soldier’s Arise, Stand and Fight! Bring Victory at Last to This Fallen KNIGHT!” Anonymous bellows as the pumpkins grow faces and charge at the crowd.
  732.
  733. >Princess Celestia aims her horn at the charging creatures and lets out a blast of magical light.
  734. >The pumpkins writhe and burn, bursting in a shower of...
  735. >Candy?
  736. >C:”Hear me my little p0nies! He thrives on fear! Be brave, and fight back! Take the candy and throw it at him, the sugary sweets will help bring him back!”
  737. >A:”Were it so easy Princess dear, but you forget about, the Queen of Fear!”
  738. >Nightmare Moon descends, tackling Princess Celestia, the two of them fly off into the distance.
  739. >The whole crowd stands stunned.
  740. >A:”Now is the time, I shall live anew, this town will burn, and the night will be mi-“ Anon begins to say before a cupcake splats right into the pumpkin, knocking it from the air.
  741. >Pinkie is standing next to you with her party cannon.
  742. >P:”Well, you heard what the Princess said!”
  743. “Alright everyone! Get that CANDY!” you yell, charging into the fray.
  744.
  745. >A few minutes later...
  746. >You were having the time of your life!
  747. >The silly pumpkins were easily crushed underneath your magic and hooves, giving up a bounty of candy each time.
  748. >Occasionally Anonymous would buzz down, and grab someone’s candy and fling it down at them.
  749. >Soon, all of the pumpkins were smashed, save for the largest one.
  750. >A:”How can it be? My soldiers are gone! Now it is time you see, for me to make one last spawn!”
  751. >The ground shudders underneath you, as the large pumpkin grows into one large soldier.
  752. “Quick everyone, aim for the legs!” you yell as the ponies charge the towering monstrosity.
  753. >They listen to your commands, and begin hacking away at the pumpkin’s vines.
  754. >The mammoth gourd slowly begins to sway back and forth.
  755. >A:”Now you’ve done it, my master plan foiled. My rotten night of vengeance spoiled!” Anonymous yells, as the colossus falls and lands on the smaller pumpkin head.
  756. >A:”My time is done, and you all have won, I hope you had some decent fright, on this most special Nightmare Night!” the headless body says, as it bursts into green flames.
  757. >You rush over to inspect the ruins of the fallen pumpkin, candy spilt everywhere.
  758. >There’s not much of the pumpkin head left, and the mush is everywhere.
  759. >All you hear is “Boo” as you are grabbed by something in the mush.
  760.
  761. >You are now Anonymous again
  762. >And you just finished the finale of you show.
  763. >You were hiding in the mush of the pumpkin, waiting for the perfect moment.
  764. >You see Twilight rush over, looking for you.
  765. >Carefully...
  766. >CAREFULLY...
  767. “BOO!” you yell grabbing her hooves.
  768. >She shrieks and jumps back.
  769. >You begin laughing, your face savouring the taste of fresh cool air.
  770. >It was hot under that invisible hood.
  771. “Well everyone,” you say, standing up out of the gunk, it slowly disappearing.
  772. “I hope you enjoyed this fair Night’s festivities. I could not have done it without the help of a few special p0nies in particular. I would like to thank...” you ramble off a few names, and include their contributions to this massive effort.
  773. >You also explain that nothing was actually harmed tonight, and that everything was an elaborate illusion made real.
  774. >T:”So, this entire thing was one massive prank?”
  775. “Yep. I thought I told everyp0ny I love Halloween!”
  776. >T:”You never said anything!”
  777. “Whoops. Well, did everyone enjoy themselves?” you say addressing the crowd.
  778. >The entire crowd erupts in cheers and laughter.
  779. “The only thing that is NOT an illusion tonight is the fun we had. Please, take your fill of candy! This was all brought possible by the p0nies involved, and a special thanks goes out to Princess Luna and Celestia for their generous contributions to making this night spectacular!”
  780. >The two Princesses standing at your side receive a resounding applause.
  781. >The night wrapped up quickly after that, being it quite late.
  782. >Many p0nies quickly gathered their children and as much candy as they could carry and went home.
  783. >Pinkie managed to make so much, no one went home empty handed at all.
  784. >Soon, it was just you, the mane six, and the Princesses sitting in your living room, sharing a coffee.
  785.
  786.
  787.
  788. “And so that’s how I managed to put together the water illusion.”
  789. >RD:”SO THAT’S where those clouds went.” Rainbow says socking you in the arm.
  790. “Haha, yeah. Sorry about that, but If I told you, that would have ruined the fun.”
  791. >Everyone laughs.
  792. >T:”Well everyone, tonight has been quite the night, and some little piano star needs his sleep.” Twilight says, putting the sleeping Spike on her back.
  793. >Everyone else agrees and begins heading home.
  794. >The mane six leave first, each headed off to their respective homes.
  795. “I must thank you again your majesties for allowing me to host this event.”
  796. >L:”It was no problem at all Anonymous, we could not have come up with a more dramatic event ourselves.”
  797. >C:”Yes, it was quite the spectacle watching the townsfolk have such fun. At first I was afraid it would be too scary for the little ones, but you managed to work everything out.”
  798. “Well, I can’t take all the credit. My friends helped me out more than i could ever imagine.”
  799. >L:”Well, that certainly makes another lesson for you Sister. We need to be getting back to Canterlot now Anonymous. There are other functions to attend and such. Fare thee well.” Luna says, departing outside.
  800. “Will you be going as well Princess Celestia?” you say, popping a piece of Candy Corn in your mouth.
  801. >”Well, I do not have any plans for tomorrow. But if you are tired, I will leave you be.”
  802. “Well, I guess the night is still young, care to go for a walk before bed?”
  803. >”I would love that Anon.” She says, heading out the door.
  804.
  805. >HEY DUDE.
  806. Oh my god, talking candy!
  807. >No asshat, it’s your brain again.
  808. Ohitsyou.glad0s
  809. >Don’t take that tone with me mister, stop this right now.
  810. Stop what?
  811. >STOP MAKING LOVEY LOVE WITH ROYALTY.
  812. But I’m not! I’m being friendly.
  813. >Bullshit, you’re lying to me, and your lying to yourself. She doesn’t even know about your condition.
  814. Well, I don’t think that matters a whole hell of a lot...
  815. >Of course it does! We still don’t know what effect coming to magical talking horse land will have on it!
  816. You know what?
  817. >WHAT?
  818. Being alive for around 150 years already has taught me something.
  819. >AND WHAT’S THAT?
  820. You give terrible advice.
  821. >HEY. DON’T YOU SHUT ME-
  822. >Brain.exe ignored
  823. >Fuck that guy.
  824. >“You coming Anon?” Celestia calls
  825. “Yep, just grabbing a coat.” You say, reaching for the white suit jacket that goes over your green shirt.
  826.
  827. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGK-02BQ5Gk&feature=related
  828. >The stars were out in full tonight.
  829. >It was never like this back home.
  830. >You walk in silence for a little while, before coming across a nearby lake.
  831. >You walk along the shore, carefully avoiding the lapping water.
  832. >You eventually find an old looking oak tree, and sit beneath it, Celestia beside you.
  833. “You know, in the short time I’ve been here, I’ve never been happier?”
  834. >”Is that the truth Anon? I’m surprised you do not miss you home more”
  835. “Well, truth be told, I did not leave much behind. It’s a long story...”
  836. >She drapes a wing over your back, “I know what happened in South America.” She says consolingly.
  837. >WHAT.
  838. “HOW DO YOU KNOW.” You say standing up.
  839. >”When you were unconscious, it looked like you would never wake up. I peered into your mind to see what was ailing you, and saw everything. The battles, your friends, the carnage.”
  840. >You’ve never felt so violated.
  841. >Ok, well, maybe only once before.
  842. >And that’s after the Doc’s pocked and prodded you after the explosion.
  843. >”I know how it seems” She says sullenly “But I was worried.”
  844. “I don’t know what to say.”
  845. >”Well, you do not have to say anything.” She says getting up.
  846. “What else did you see?” you say, walking closer to the lake.
  847. >”Nothing. The dream kept repeating, and that is all.”
  848. “So you don’t know what happened then? Afterwards I mean.”
  849. >”No. Is there something you wish to tell me?” she says, standing next to you.
  850. >The light of the moon was shining in the stillness of the lake.
  851. >It was almost like a portrait you once saw in your travels.
  852. >It was by an artist who only gained fame after his death.
  853. >His work was marvellous, but overshadowed by others.
  854. >Almost like a diamond in the rough.
  855.
  856. “Well, let’s just say I’m not what I appear to be.” You say, sitting down on the shore.
  857. >”Now Anon, I can sense your troubled. I merely want to help.”
  858. >She sounds a lot like her tonight.
  859. “I’m just feel like I’m getting old Celestia, that’s all.”
  860. “It’s getting harder to relate to people”
  861. >”Old? But judging from your memories, you appear young for your species.”
  862. “Looks can be deceiving.”
  863. >”What’s that supposed to mean?”
  864. >You sigh, and pull out a locket that hung around your neck.
  865. >Inside, it shows you and a woman standing at an altar.
  866. “This was taken some time ago. It’s all I have to remember her by.”
  867. >you hand her the locket.
  868. >She examines the inscription next to it.
  869. >”May this picture always remind you of the best of times and help you find solace, even in the darkest of days. Your love, Mira, 1908”
  870. “That was taken over 100 years ago. Our anniversary is in two weeks.”
  871. >”So, what you’re saying...”
  872. “Yep. I’m a very old man.”
  873. >Celestia looks shocked.
  874. >”But how?”
  875. >You sigh running your hands through your hair.
  876.
  877. “After the explosion, I was unconscious for months. When I awoke, the doctors originally found nothing wrong with me. After a few months, I began to feel sickly, and complained of massive headaches. They kept me in custody and ran a few tests. In human biology, cells deteriorate over time, their composition breaking down as we age. Apparently, my cells were not degrading much, if at all. My body was trying to adapt to the change. They said the magic must have overloaded my mind and body, supercharging the cells. Mind you, this was all their explanation. They still don’t know what the extent of the mutation is. But essentially, they said that with the ability for my body to renew itself, I was effectively immortal save for grievous bodily injury. I do not age.”
  878. “They said my mind would slowly adapt to the knowledge of my immortality, but it would take some time. For a period of about 3 years, I was completely insane. Other times I was tremendously depressed. And still yet there were times when I was happy. The only thing that never got better, was the hole she left in my heart when she died.”
  879.  “You remind me a lot of her.”
  880. >You turn away, listening to the sounds of the night.
  881.
  882. “Ever since I came here though, it seems like I’ve found new meaning and happiness. It’s most likely the change of scenery, but It’s also the friends I have made. Everyone here is so much kinder than back home.”
  883. “Listen to me ramble on. I must be getting older somehow,” you say with a hollow laugh.
  884. “I’m sorry for killing the mood like this Princess. I shall see you around.”
  885. >You walk away slowly, headed back to your home.
  886. >”Anonymous.” She calls out.
  887. >You turn around, only to be embraced in a hug.
  888. >You can see tears in her eyes.
  889. “Please, there’s no need for tears. It’s been such a long time. I didn’t mean to upset you.”
  890. >You stand there, embracing each other for the longest time.
  891. >You gently stoke her back, careful to avoid her wings.
  892. >You weren’t sure how sensitive they were.
  893. >You can hear her sniffle a little bit.
  894. >Pulling out a handkerchief you kept in your pocket, you gently dab around her eyes.
  895. “Better?”
  896. >”Y-yes. I’m sorry about that.”
  897. “Don’t be. Tonight, we were both emotional wrecks.”
  898. “Let’s both head home. We can talk more another time. You must be exhausted.”
  899. >She nods.
  900. >You teleport you and her to the castle grounds, just below her tower.
  901. “Goodnight Princess.” You say bowing.
  902. >”Goodnight, my mage.” She says as she flies up to her room.
  903. >You head home, and not even 5 minutes later, you are fast asleep in your bed.
  904. >Tonight was no more special than any other night in your long life.
  905.
  906. Epilogue:
  907. >Back in Canterlot palace...
  908. >A hooded figure appears in the gardens.
  909. >A certain mage needs to check something.
  910. >Something pertaining to a relic of a long forgotten time.
  911. >He stares up at the castle, looking for a certain spire.
  912. >”So, you finally found it did you?” a voice echoes in the night, barely audible.
  913. >Like a whisper on the wind.
  914. “This does not concern you.” The mage says, walking towards the decorated eastern spire.
  915. >”Oh but teacher dear, we are in this together now.” The voice laughs.
  916. “We are not. You have your job and I have mine. Leave it at that.”
  917. >”Ooo touchy tonight are we? Stood up at the altar?”
  918. >A sudden crack sounds in the night as the statue of Discord ruptures, revealing the Draconequus for all to see.
  919. >In the blink of an eye, the skeletal mage is standing over top of him, arcane energy crackling off his horn.
  920. >A purple aura envelops the monstrous hybrid creature, as his Pegasus wing snaps off at the base, spraying blood all over the ground.
  921. >He screams in terror as he is once again encased in stone, albeit with a much more painful appearance.
  922. “Do not mock me child.” He says, disappearing into the night.
  923. >He re-appears outside the spire’s door.
  924. >Hovering ever so slightly off the ground to silence his hoofsteps, he carefully opens the door.
  925. >Levitating in slowly, he spots a nightstand with various baubles and trinkets on it.
  926. >He knows what he’s looking for however.
  927. >He approaches the stand, picking up a small box.
  928. >He opens it, and a familiar tune begins to play.
  929. >She kept it.
  930. >Even after all these years.
  931. >He hears her begin to stir in the bed.
  932. >He takes the music box, and stuffs it into a satchel.
  933. >He leaves a short note on the table, and exits through the window.
  934.
  935. >Celestia tosses and turns in her sleep.
  936. >Her dreams filled with memories of a different age.
  937. >She awakes with a start, hearing a sound in her sleep.
  938. >She gets up quickly and looks around her room.
  939. >It was still too early to wake up.
  940. >She gets up to get a drink, when she notices something off about her room.
  941. >She heads over to her nightstand, and notices a small paper note.
  942. >Just where it used to be...
  943. >She the note,
  944. “Glad you remembered me.” Is all it says.
  945. >She tears the note to shreds.
