- PART 4: Day 13
- You wake up slowly the next morning. You were tossing and turning all night, and as a result, you hardly got much sleep. The room is unbearably cold; you wrap yourself up in as many pieces of scrap fabrics as you can find and lay back in bed. You manage to glance at the clock before you return to bed; 7:00am. It is a bit darker outside than it usually is.
- You had a few hours until you had to be at Vinyl’s and Octavia’s music shop. You lay in bed for about half an hour, still trying to warm up. Rarity would be up in another half hour, and hog the shower for what would feel like days. You force yourself to get out of bed and you head towards the bathroom. You put the water on as hot as you can make it without it hurting and you jump in.
- After about 20 minutes, you get out, feeling warm and fresh. However, the house is still quite cold. You throw on a bunch of clothes and head back downstairs. You hear some noise in the kitchen, and decide to peek in. You see Rarity working hard in front of the stove; it looks like she was making a large breakfast, and it sure looked good! Her mane was unkempt and she had slight bags under her eyes, but she still managed to give you a warm smile as you walk in.
- “Well, good morning, darling.” She says to you. “I hope you’re in the mood for a small breakfast!” Small was the wrong word to describe the size of the meal.
- “Good morning, Rarity!” you say happily. “Did you sleep well last night?”
- “It was the best sleep I’ve had in ages.” She said in a jolly tone. “I was nice and warm. How about you, dear?”
- “I couldn’t say the same.” You say. “I was so cold all night. I hardly got much sleep. But it’s alright, I’ll take a nap later.”
- “My poor, Anon! You could have woken me up! I would have brought you some more blankets.” She says to you. “Please don’t become lazy like Rainbow Dash. Naps are fine every once in a while, but try not to make it an unhealthy habit!” She starts to carry plates of food over to the table. Your stomach rumbles at the sight of it; it sure looks incredible.
- “Well sit, Anon!” she says singingly. “Let’s have breakfast together.”
- What do?
- >A) Sit, enjoy the food. She worked hard making it.
- >B) This seems unusual. Ask her why she is making food for you.
- >C) Politely decline, explain that you must be somewhere soon.

- You nod and take a seat at the table as Rarity continued to set plates down. The smell of the food was quite alluring; there were various chopped fruits, a large plate of fried eggs, stacks of toast, a hot pot of coffee, and various green vegetables that would take too long to name off. Every single piece of food was also garnished with a few herbs or various dressings. You see a fork and knife surrounded by a magical aura lay gently in front of you, next to an empty plate. Rarity then sat down and smiled happily at you.
- “Well you can dig in, darling! I promise it won’t bite.” She had already started to take a few pieces of toast and some fruit. You grab a bit of everything and begin to eat, remembering your manners as you went along. The food was just as delicious as it looked, and you found yourself eating more and more.
- “Would you like some coffee, dear?” Rarity asks. Before you can answer, she pours you a mug, adds a bit of milk and sugar to it, and stirs it for you before laying it gently next to your plate. Her behavior was confusing; she has never been this nice and attentive before. You sip the coffee; it tastes absolutely perfect. She even knows how you like your coffee.
- Rarity smiled at you as she had some fruit and washed it down with a sip of her coffee. She can tell that you love this breakfast, but she is in no hurry to hear you say it.
- What do?
- >A) Continue to eat, make a bit of small talk.
- >B) Stop and ask her why she is acting so nice. This is getting weird.
- >C) You’ve had your fill. Thank her and be on your way.
- CHOICE A
- You chat with Rarity while you eat, being careful not talk with food in your mouth. You talk about her weekend, and she asks about yours. You mention the job at the music shop, but nothing else. You don’t want her to know about the ordeal with Applejack. Her eyes widened when you tell her that you had played in front of Octavia and Vinyl.
- “Anon, I didn’t know you played so many instruments!” she said. “That is quite a remarkable talent you have, and one this is the sign of a true gentleman, I might add.” You blush and accept the compliment, but you try to change the subject. She stops you before you manage to do so.
- “But you’re not going to work there too much are you, dear?” she asks, with a slight worry in her voice.
- What say?
- >[Free Response]
- “Well… I decided that if I am to stay in Ponyville permanently, I’m going to need a stable job. And eventually, my own place.” You say. You take a sip of coffee before you continue. “One of the main reasons I’m accepting this job is so that I won’t be so much of a burden to you. I would even use some of my bits to help pay you back for letting me stay here for so long.”
- You look up her face to see if she was listening. Upon doing so your heart dropped; you had never seen her look so sad. You could tell that she was trying to hold back tears. Her bottom lip was trembling, and her large, blue eyes became fixated on yours.
- “Rarity…” You say gently. “I…”
- “You… you were never… a burden to me, Anon…” she says quietly, still looking at you in your eyes. You see a single tear fall down her cheek. “I love having you around here. Even… even if I don’t act like it, I always appreciate the help you’ve given me. T-that’s why I made you this breakfast. I wanted to… to thank you for all the times that I didn’t thank you in the proper fashion…” A few more tears run down her cheeks.
- Her words pierce your heart and mind. You sit quietly looking into her eyes; you see sadness, and fear. She was absolutely heartbroken. You manage to glance over at the clock; 9:45am. On top of Rarity being in an absolutely depressed state, you had to be at the music shop in fifteen minutes.
- Rarity buries her face in her hooves and begins to cry loudly, holding nothing back.

- What do?
- [Free response – limit it to one sentence, please]
- “Rarity…” you say softly. “I didn’t know that you felt this way.” She cries louder after hearing this. You look at the clock again; 9:49am. “I didn’t mean for it to come out like that… it’s nothing personal against you… I just thought that you would like to have your own personal space again.” She looks up you, her eyes pink from crying so much.
- “I should have…” she starts to say. “Anon, every day since you’ve been here has been great. It… it goes beyond you just helping me out around the Boutique.” You look over at the clock; 9:53am. “I always think about you, darling. I always brag to our friends about how great you are, how you do so much for me, and then I realize that I do almost nothing… to show you that I care…. I DON’T DO ENOUGH…!” She was crying hysterically at this point.
- “I’m not sure that this can work out. We are both adults, we need our own separate places.” This causes her to bury her face in her hooves again. Her cries become louder.
- “Please don’t… please don’t leave me, Anon…” she says, fighting to get every word out. “I… should have just…”
- Too many emotions run through your mind. Here Rarity is, begging you to stay. You never knew that she felt so strongly about you staying with her. She starts to control her tears a bit.
- “That night you gave me a massage…” she eventually says. “I woke up hoping that you were there next to me…. And you werent’t there.” You stare at her blankly. You don’t even know what to say at this point.
- The clock rings. It’s 10:00am. Rarity gets up from the table, trembling slightly. She turns away from to wipe her face.
- “I… l-love… you, Anon…” she whispers so quietly you almost can’t make out what she said. “I should have… made it clear sooner.”
- R: 50 (-10)
- She runs off through the door and leaves. You sit there, unsure of what to think. Late for your job, and at a lost for words.
- You make it to the music shop around 10:30am. You apologize over and over again to Octavia and Vinyl for being late, but neither of them are upset about it. They were just happy that you showed up.
- You spend a few hours helping to set up the shop. You unpack instruments, you hang a few on the walls, you move the piano to a corner of the room and tune it, you put up a bookshelf and organize all of the sheet music in stock. Meanwhile, Octavia and Vinyl argue about what to have for lunch. You aren’t even thinking about food. You aren’t really thinking about anything except Rarity’s heartbroken spirit.
- ~
- After 8 hours of constant work with no breaks, you finish up the shop. It looks fantastic. Very professional. Octavia and Vinyl thank you greatly and give you a work schedule. You would be working Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm. Not a bad job. Tomorrow, they were going to explain what your duties would be. You were ok with that, you just wanted to leave. You bid farewell to Octavia and Vinyl, and exit the shop.

- What do now?
- >A) Go find Applejack.
- >B) Go find Rarity.
- >C) Walk alone, recollect your thoughts.
- >D) Find another pony.
- CHOICE B
- You walk briskly back to Rarity’s Boutique to see if you can find her. You enter the shop and see her working on a dress. She doesn’t say anything to you as you walk in. You close the door gently behind and walk over to her.
- “Hey there, Rarity.” You say to her.
- “Hello, Anon.” she replies, remaining focused on her work. You pull up a chair, and sit next to her.
- “How was your day?” you ask, watching her add various gems to the dress.
- “Fine.” She replies quickly, still not looking at you. She then gets up and walks over to one of her mannequins and lays the dress on it. You get up and follow her.
- “Listen, Rarity…”
- “Anon, I am very busy right now. I would appreciate it if you would just leave me alone while I work. Please.” You start to get a little frustrated with her.
- What do?
- >A) Leave and find Applejack. Let Rarity cool off.
- >B) Try to make things right.
- CHOICE B
- You walk over to Rarity and stand right in front of her. She glares at you.
- “Anon, I do NOT want to talk with you right now.” She says angrily. She tries to walk away but you stop her.
- “Well I want to talk to you. And you’re going to listen.” You say aggressively. Rarity steps backwards, her posture remaining unchanged. “You are angry at me for a stupid reason. You made it seem like you were only keeping me around because you felt like you had to. You should have just acted like an adult and told me how you felt.” Rarity’s looks at the ground angrily. She isn’t used to being talked down to like this.
- “But since you didn’t tell me, I thought getting a job to stay out of your hair would be something that you would like.” You say, aggressively still. You had her attention. “If you really loved me, you should have just told me in the first place, and none of this would have ever happened. But it’s too late now. Besides, I have an interest in…” You bite your tongue hard. You see that Rarity had grown angrier at the sound of those words.
- “… Who is it…?” she asks, getting closer to you. Her eyes start to tear up.
- What say?
- >A) Admit that it’s Applejack.
- >B) Lie; it’s your job.
- >C) It’s none of your damn business, Rarity.
- CHOICE A
- “It’s Applejack.” You say to her. Rarity looks at you with disbelief.
- “APPLEJACK? That uncouth little…?” She stops herself from continuing. “Why Applejack? What does she have that I don’t?” You say nothing at first. She slaps you across the face, hard. You stumble backwards a little bit. You finally realize what you’ve just done.
- “Did I not save your life, Anon? Did I not give you a place to stay? I’m sorry that I couldn’t tell you how I felt! It was hard for me! Did that ever cross your mind?” She started to cry. “I thought you wouldn’t feel the same way that I did….” She collapses to the ground and begins to cry. This is killing you on the inside. She looks up at you. You’ve never seen her this hurt.
- R: 40 (-10)
- What do now?
- >A) Hold her, apologize. This could be your last chance.
- >B) Leave and see Applejack. You and Rarity are done.
- >C) Wait for her to do something.
- CHOICE A
- You wish that you could just reset time and start over. This was slowly becoming a nightmare. You have to stop this before it gets worse.
- You kneel on the ground next to her and put your arms on her shoulders. She looks into your eyes waiting to hear what you have to say. Problem is, you can’t form any words. You try and try, but you can’t think of a single thing that would correct this. You were both wrong for what you did. Nobody here is at fault. You just want to start over and make it better.
- “I don’t want you to hate me, Rarity.” You say. She doesn’t say anything. “I’m…”
- Before you can finish, she wraps her arms around your waist and begins to cry softly. You proceed to hug her back.
- R: 45 (+5)
- “Anon… I could never hate you.” She says. “I’m sorry… I’m sorry for making it seem like I didn’t want you around. I brought this all upon myself…. If you want to pursue Applejack, then that is your decision.” She stops and cries a bit more. You keep holding her while she let’s all of her emotions out. After a few minutes, she controls her tears again. She looks up at you, and you look down at her.
- “Anon, I really… just want to make this right. I need you here with me right now… please…. Before you go after Applejack, at least give me a chance. Just one…”
- What do?
- >A) Stay.
- >B) Leave.
- CHOICE A
- “I’ll stay with you, Rarity.” You say. Her eyes widen and she smiles at you for the first time since the morning. She then lays her head back in your chest. “You deserve a chance, but you have to be honest with me.” Rarity holds you tighter, and she starts to cry again.
- “My dear, Anon…” she starts to say. “My dear, darling Anon…” She nuzzles up against your chest.
- R: 60 (+15)
- “I know I’ve been acting so stuck up…” she says. “And I don’t deserve to have you around here anymore… But I want things to be different now. I want to give you the affection you deserve.”
- What do?
- >A) Give her a chance, maybe she is the one for you. She was the one for you all along.
- >B) Give her a chance, but you won’t decide just yet. Applejack should have a chance as well.
- >C) Give her a chance, but you will still pursue Applejack in the end. Let her know now.
- CHOICE B
- You decide to give her a chance. It may have not been so smart to suddenly want to pursue Applejack romantically, but at least now you will be able to have options. You let Rarity know that it is only fair that Applejack is given a chance as well, much to her displeasure. Rarity agrees however, and understands that this is in no way a final decision yet. There is still time to decide. But for now, she is happy that you are going to let her prove how much she cares about you. You tell her that you will still live with her for the time being. Rarity agrees again, but is busy trying to just enjoy your company. You can tell that she is very happy with you staying here. She just holds you tight and keeps nuzzling your chest.
- R: 65 (+5)
- You look over at the clock; 10:35pm.
- Now what?
- >A) Stay with Rarity for a bit longer.
- >B) Leave and find Applejack.
- >C) Find another pone.
- >D) Bedtime (alone), it’s been a long day.
- CHOICE A
- You don’t want to end this moment just yet. It feels good to be able to settle after such an emotional day. You want to just enjoy the time you’re spending with Rarity. As much as you want to head off to bed, you would rather make sure Rarity is going to be all right.
- You’re not entirely sure how to handle the situation from here though. You want to give her and Applejack an equal opportunity, but it’s difficult seeing as you are with Rarity right now and anything can happen. Rarity looks into your eyes with warmth and affection. She is smiling at you, waiting for you to do something. Her hooves are still wrapped around your waist, and your arms are still holding her close to your heart.
- R: 70 (+5)
- It is getting late now. You are finding it difficult to stay awake much longer. You must make sure that you aren’t late to your job tomorrow.
- “We should go to bed, Rarity. It’s getting late.”
- “Of course, darling…” She says gently. “It is getting a tad late…”
- What do?
- >A) Go to bed with her.
- >B) Go to bed alone.
- CHOICE B
- You decide that it’s best for you to sleep separately, at least for tonight. You stand up off the floor and pick her up gently. You tell her that you have to be up early in the morning so you can handle some things at the music shop before it opens. She nods and bids you a good night with a quick hug and a peck on the cheek.
- R: 72 (+2)
- You jump in the bed and close your eyes. You want to go see Applejack tomorrow before you got to work. You would love to see her, if only for a moment. You cover yourself up and drift off to sleep.
