- >You might not have been a very good human
- >You don't know if you were or not
- >You worked low end jobs
- >You were alone
- >You were making it in a small one-room studio apartment
- >Living by the beck and call of your seven o' clock alarm
- >Yeah, you still remember it
- >Six, five, nine
- >The most feared numbers in your life
- >At least Celestia stopped using it against you
- >As far as you know, or care, she's stopped the mind games
- >You never did relearn what it is to be human, though
- >Other than a brief remembrance of your former life of regimented mediocrity
- >Face getting doses of radiation every day from a computer screen
- >Coping with angry customers
- >You can't even remember what about
- >Friendships drifted apart sometime in your middle-teens, you think
- >Close family passed away, other family was pretty distant
- >Man, going by that, you were a pretty crappy human being
- >Trying to substitute everything missing in your life with 4chan
- >That you can remember
- >Oh well
- >You didn't do good there
- >And you didn't do good here
- >Where do people go when they die?
- >Your eyes were creased closed, waiting
- >You're Anonymous. You won't back down.
- >Suddenly, there was a loud crash
- >You groan, and there is a sudden panic in the room
- >“What the..?!”
- >“Look out!”
- >Beams come crashing down around you
- >You open your eye, and clouds of dust and debris overtake the room
- >A splintered wooden piece of roofing comes crashing down just ahead of you
- >You squint your good eye, and throw up your arms in defense
- >You take a stumbling step back
- >It is then that you notice white stallions around you
- >Clad in gold armor
- >But they weren't alone
- >Dark horses, with bat-like armor black as obsidian were prepared to launch themselves at your captors
- >Snarling, chomping at the bit
- >You clink and then look beside you
- >A large, white mare with a beautiful aurora streaming off of her mane and tail stands with you
- >Wings standing tall and broad
- C..Celestia?!
- >“We got your letter, Anonymous.”
- >The voice comes from behind you
- >You look over your shoulder and jump
- >Luna moves forward to side with her sister, and you move out of her way
- >You clear them, giving them plenty of space
- >And although the opposing troupes snarl and growl at one another,
- >Celestia and The Boss merely trade hostile glares
- >“Lady Celestia!”
- >He finally greets, pulling his cigar from his mouth
- >“You're quicker than you were, last time.”
- >Celestia lowers her head aggressively
- >“I don't abandon my subjects.”
- >She continues
- >“Where is my student?”
- >She less 'asks' and more 'demands'
- >But the Boss? The Boss remained cool
- >“Nails.”
- >He snapped his finger
- >“Oh! Right, boss!”
- >The gangly freakshow stumbled to the large structure covered in cloth
- >He grabbed hold of the canvas covering, and pulled it down
- >Inside, you were horrified at what you saw
- >A bound, tethered Twilight Sparkle; held up by cables and cords clamped to her skin
- >She was crying, this you could make out even from that distance
- >And there was a jumper cable clamped down on her horn which lead into a pair of diodes
- >She was kept quiet with a muzzle, but her pain was clear
- >She looked between you three, and then to Spike
- >She was still pale, still pony
- >Your God; seeing who you considered a surrogate sister like this?
- >It struck you
- >Your mouth was agape with unbridled sickness and terror
- >But it was nothing compared to the horrible gasp that Celestia emitted as she reeled her head back
- >It was the most horrible sound you think you've ever heard, it spoke of anger and sorrow spun into a fine mix
- >The Boss was less than impressed
- >“What'cha gonna do, Celestia? Make it morning on me?”
- >Instantly, she threw herself forward and her horn glowed
- >An extremely powerful overpressure washed over you, but otherwise left you uneffected
- >The mobsters, though?
- >They parted like the Red Sea
- >They all slammed into walls, into pillars, with such force that they were all immediately rendered inoperable
- >Killed or merely unconscious, you did not know
- >“I don't know how you escaped Tartarus, cur!”
- >She shrieked
- >“But I won't spare you a second time!”
- >Her horn glowed and she reared up on her hind lets
- >THWIP
- >You couldn't track it, your throat was pinched closed in shock
- >“Sister!”
- >Luna gasped
- >A diamond bolt shattered against Celestia's hown, throwing her for a loop and interrupting her spell
- >She fell back on all fours, shaking her head
- >The Boss held up that damn hand bow of his, and then discarded it before thrusting his hand into his pocket once more
- >His expression stone cold
- >The guard ponies rushed forward, taking to the air and zipping forward at best speed
- >But, with a snap of the Boss' fingers, the exact same fate that befell his own minions threw Celestia and Luna's guards against the same walls
- >“Ladies,”
- >The Boss spoke
- >“You ain't dealin' with the same mob you did so many years ago”
- >He explained
- >“Tartarus is a hellish place. But you wouldn't know that. Do you really think your Celestial fires can match the abysmal inferno that the Dog Father has seen fit to equip me with?”
- >He casually plucked out his cigar, cast it away, and produced a new one
- >A strike of his thumb against his arm produced a flame that he used to lite it
- >“The Dog Father remembers you two. You tramps ruined a good thing. And Tartarus has had eons to forge his resolve to return and get revenge on the two worthless cunts who did this to him.”
- >He shook the flame off of his thumb and puffed away on his cigar
- >Celestia growled
- >Luna was shocked
- >You felt powerless
- >“The ebb and flow of his hatred surrounds and courses through me, ladies.”
- >He hops down from his pedestal and closes the distance, stopping a good ten yards away
- >“You will release Twilight Sparkle...”
- >Celestia says threateningly
- >“Yeah, right.”
- >The Boss responds
- >“You see, Celestia, ya really know how to pick em'.”
- >“Originally, see, we were gonna use you to power this wonderful little device, here.”
- >“But your student? Well, it turns out that she's quite the atomic firecracker. Her magic will be more than sufficient for our needs.”
- What does it do?
- >You ask, finally being able to speak
- >The Dog Father flicks his wrist, and you are thrown against the opposite wall with a terrible strength
- >You didn't even know what happened; you just fell on your ass
- >“Quiet, you. I'm sick of lookin' at ya.”
- >He returns his attention to Celestia
- >“But I guess you're wondering.”
- >“See, the Dog Father can't get past the gates of Tartarus. Ya did a bang-up job with security.”
- >“So we'se going to reach through a dimensional pocket and pull him back into this world. Capiche?”
- >Luna gasps, but Celestia just narrows her eyes
- >Her maternal rage can be felt wafting against the surroundings
- >“The Dog Father is coming back, tonight.”
- >He took a long drag of his cigar before lowering his hat over his eyes
- >“And there ain't a damn thing you can do about it.”
- >The Boss snapped his fingers
- >“Start 'er up, Nails.”
- >The lanky one wrung his hands
- >“Hehe HAHA! You got it, boss! One ritual sacrifice of a child, coming RIGHT up!”
- >The one known as Nails turned to face Twilight
- >“Give the Boss plenty of juice!! HHAHA~!”
- >He leaps over to a large, clunky switch and pulls it down with a slam of metal on metal
- >There is an electric humming
- >Immediately the room is filled with light, and Twilight writhes in pain that you can only imagine
- >She was dying
- >And you could do nothing
- >She flops around like a fish out of water, and you can hear her helpless whimpering as she is tortured
- >Lights trace the mechanisms and lead to the elevated pad
- >“NO!!”
- >Celestia stomps forward and throws a bolt of compressed heat from her horn towards the mechanism
- >The Boss, however;
- >He reaches his hand up over his head and clenches his fist
- >The bolt explodes into a shower of sparkles
- >Celestia reels and gasps, coming to the realization, finally, that she isn't just dealing with a simple gangster
- >The Boss took brief stock of his situation
- >In particular, he eyed you after looking to Luna and Celestia
- >You were a wild card he didn't like
- >“Sandy”
- >He called out
- >“Yeah, Boss”
- >“Go take care of that dragon, would'ja? And make sure Miss Rarity and the others get a good look.”
- >“Yeah, boss.”
- >He knuckles casually out of the room, vanishing into a dark corridor
- >You manage, finally, to get to your feet
- >You are wobbly, woozy
- >You've taken worse beatings, but they really must have just hit you with the best shot of your life
- >Celestia stamped a hoof to the ground
- >“Anonymous, go help the others.”
- But--
- >You almost protest
- >She looks over her shoulder at you, flaring her wings aggressively
- >Those eyes
- >You've not seen those eyes since the last time you defied her
- >It filled you with a horrific terror that froze you in place, clenching your teeth
- >It was like you were staring into the depths of pandemonium
- >“Please.”
- >She says
- >The way she says it, despite your knowing that she was so upset
- >It was laced with love and care
- >You were able to make yourself move
- >You shifted past them, giving Celestia and Luna an uneasy look
- >You didn't feel right abandoning them, or Twilight
- >But you had a job to do
- >You took off after Sandy
- >And the Boss made no effort to stop you
- >A moment later, the Boss shifts the cigar in his mouth
- >“Ya know you just killed em', right?”
- >He asks
- >“We'll see...”
- >Celestia says
- >Her and Luna spread out, looking down on their opponent, keeping their distance
- >The Boss doesn't even bother to track them
- >“Cruel as always. Your little puppet, there? He ain't got a chance in Tartarus. Did you see him? He could barely stand.”
- >Celestia's horn began to glow
- >“He's not a puppet.”
- >“...Not anymore.”
- >The Boss chortles
- >Luna speaks up
- >“He'll surprise you. He has a knack for survival.”
- >The Boss's jovial chuckle dies out
- >“You ain't kidding anyone, blueberry. You ain't helping him, this time.”
- >The two Alicorns snarl
- >“It'll be really fun, watching Twilight's spirit break before she kicks the bucket. I hope you two are ready.”
- >“This little dance?”
- >“Thousands of years in the making.”
- >As you pursue Sandy down the dark halls, the complex rocks on its foundations
- >You are nearly thrown off your feet as loud explosions ripple the atmosphere behind you
- >It feels like a deep beating in your chest
- >But you had your own part to play, and now it was time to get to it
