  1. >You might not have been a very good human
  2. >You don't know if you were or not
  3. >You worked low end jobs
  4. >You were alone
  5. >You were making it in a small one-room studio apartment
  6. >Living by the beck and call of your seven o' clock alarm
  7. >Yeah, you still remember it
  8. >Six, five, nine
  9. >The most feared numbers in your life
  10. >At least Celestia stopped using it against you
  11. >As far as you know, or care, she's stopped the mind games
  12. >You never did relearn what it is to be human, though
  13. >Other than a brief remembrance of your former life of regimented mediocrity
  14. >Face getting doses of radiation every day from a computer screen
  15. >Coping with angry customers
  16. >You can't even remember what about
  17. >Friendships drifted apart sometime in your middle-teens, you think
  18. >Close family passed away, other family was pretty distant
  19. >Man, going by that, you were a pretty crappy human being
  20. >Trying to substitute everything missing in your life with 4chan
  21. >That you can remember
  22. >Oh well
  23. >You didn't do good there
  24. >And you didn't do good here
  25. >Where do people go when they die?
  26. >Your eyes were creased closed, waiting
  27. >You're Anonymous. You won't back down.
  28.
  29. >Suddenly, there was a loud crash
  30. >You groan, and there is a sudden panic in the room
  31. >“What the..?!”
  32. >“Look out!”
  33. >Beams come crashing down around you
  34. >You open your eye, and clouds of dust and debris overtake the room
  35. >A splintered wooden piece of roofing comes crashing down just ahead of you
  36. >You squint your good eye, and throw up your arms in defense
  37. >You take a stumbling step back
  38. >It is then that you notice white stallions around you
  39. >Clad in gold armor
  40. >But they weren't alone
  41. >Dark horses, with bat-like armor black as obsidian were prepared to launch themselves at your captors
  42. >Snarling, chomping at the bit
  43. >You clink and then look beside you
  44. >A large, white mare with a beautiful aurora streaming off of her mane and tail stands with you
  45. >Wings standing tall and broad
  46. C..Celestia?!
  47. >“We got your letter, Anonymous.”
  48. >The voice comes from behind you
  49. >You look over your shoulder and jump
  50. >Luna moves forward to side with her sister, and you move out of her way
  51. >You clear them, giving them plenty of space
  52. >And although the opposing troupes snarl and growl at one another,
  53. >Celestia and The Boss merely trade hostile glares
  54. >“Lady Celestia!”
  55. >He finally greets, pulling his cigar from his mouth
  56. >“You're quicker than you were, last time.”
  57. >Celestia lowers her head aggressively
  58. >“I don't abandon my subjects.”
  59. >She continues
  60. >“Where is my student?”
  61. >She less 'asks' and more 'demands'
  62. >But the Boss? The Boss remained cool
  63. >“Nails.”
  64. >He snapped his finger
  65. >“Oh! Right, boss!”
  66. >The gangly freakshow stumbled to the large structure covered in cloth
  67. >He grabbed hold of the canvas covering, and pulled it down
  68. >Inside, you were horrified at what you saw
  69. >A bound, tethered Twilight Sparkle; held up by cables and cords clamped to her skin
  70. >She was crying, this you could make out even from that distance
  71. >And there was a jumper cable clamped down on her horn which lead into a pair of diodes
  72. >She was kept quiet with a muzzle, but her pain was clear
  73. >She looked between you three, and then to Spike
  74. >She was still pale, still pony
  75. >Your God; seeing who you considered a surrogate sister like this?
  76. >It struck you
  77. >Your mouth was agape with unbridled sickness and terror
  78. >But it was nothing compared to the horrible gasp that Celestia emitted as she reeled her head back
  79. >It was the most horrible sound you think you've ever heard, it spoke of anger and sorrow spun into a fine mix
  80. >The Boss was less than impressed
  81. >“What'cha gonna do, Celestia? Make it morning on me?”
  82. >Instantly, she threw herself forward and her horn glowed
  83. >An extremely powerful overpressure washed over you, but otherwise left you uneffected
  84. >The mobsters, though?
  85. >They parted like the Red Sea
  86. >They all slammed into walls, into pillars, with such force that they were all immediately rendered inoperable
  87. >Killed or merely unconscious, you did not know
  88. >“I don't know how you escaped Tartarus, cur!”
  89. >She shrieked
  90. >“But I won't spare you a second time!”
  91. >Her horn glowed and she reared up on her hind lets
  92. >THWIP
  93. >You couldn't track it, your throat was pinched closed in shock
  94. >“Sister!”
  95. >Luna gasped
  96. >A diamond bolt shattered against Celestia's hown, throwing her for a loop and interrupting her spell
  97. >She fell back on all fours, shaking her head
  98. >The Boss held up that damn hand bow of his, and then discarded it before thrusting his hand into his pocket once more
  99. >His expression stone cold
  100. >The guard ponies rushed forward, taking to the air and zipping forward at best speed
  101. >But, with a snap of the Boss' fingers, the exact same fate that befell his own minions threw Celestia and Luna's guards against the same walls
  102. >“Ladies,”
  103. >The Boss spoke
  104. >“You ain't dealin' with the same mob you did so many years ago”
  105. >He explained
  106. >“Tartarus is a hellish place. But you wouldn't know that. Do you really think your Celestial fires can match the abysmal inferno that the Dog Father has seen fit to equip me with?”
  107. >He casually plucked out his cigar, cast it away, and produced a new one
  108. >A strike of his thumb against his arm produced a flame that he used to lite it
  109. >“The Dog Father remembers you two. You tramps ruined a good thing. And Tartarus has had eons to forge his resolve to return and get revenge on the two worthless cunts who did this to him.”
  110. >He shook the flame off of his thumb and puffed away on his cigar
  111. >Celestia growled
  112. >Luna was shocked
  113. >You felt powerless
  114. >“The ebb and flow of his hatred surrounds and courses through me, ladies.”
  115. >He hops down from his pedestal and closes the distance, stopping a good ten yards away
  116. >“You will release Twilight Sparkle...”
  117. >Celestia says threateningly
  118. >“Yeah, right.”
  119. >The Boss responds
  120. >“You see, Celestia, ya really know how to pick em'.”
  121. >“Originally, see, we were gonna use you to power this wonderful little device, here.”
  122. >“But your student? Well, it turns out that she's quite the atomic firecracker. Her magic will be more than sufficient for our needs.”
  123. What does it do?
  124. >You ask, finally being able to speak
  125. >The Dog Father flicks his wrist, and you are thrown against the opposite wall with a terrible strength
  126. >You didn't even know what happened; you just fell on your ass
  127. >“Quiet, you. I'm sick of lookin' at ya.”
  128. >He returns his attention to Celestia
  129. >“But I guess you're wondering.”
  130. >“See, the Dog Father can't get past the gates of Tartarus. Ya did a bang-up job with security.”
  131. >“So we'se going to reach through a dimensional pocket and pull him back into this world. Capiche?”
  132. >Luna gasps, but Celestia just narrows her eyes
  133. >Her maternal rage can be felt wafting against the surroundings
  134. >“The Dog Father is coming back, tonight.”
  135. >He took a long drag of his cigar before lowering his hat over his eyes
  136. >“And there ain't a damn thing you can do about it.”
  137. >The Boss snapped his fingers
  138. >“Start 'er up, Nails.”
  139. >The lanky one wrung his hands
  140. >“Hehe HAHA! You got it, boss! One ritual sacrifice of a child, coming RIGHT up!”
  141. >The one known as Nails turned to face Twilight
  142. >“Give the Boss plenty of juice!! HHAHA~!”
  143. >He leaps over to a large, clunky switch and pulls it down with a slam of metal on metal
  144. >There is an electric humming
  145. >Immediately the room is filled with light, and Twilight writhes in pain that you can only imagine
  146. >She was dying
  147. >And you could do nothing
  148. >She flops around like a fish out of water, and you can hear her helpless whimpering as she is tortured
  149. >Lights trace the mechanisms and lead to the elevated pad
  150. >“NO!!”
  151. >Celestia stomps forward and throws a bolt of compressed heat from her horn towards the mechanism
  152. >The Boss, however;
  153. >He reaches his hand up over his head and clenches his fist
  154. >The bolt explodes into a shower of sparkles
  155. >Celestia reels and gasps, coming to the realization, finally, that she isn't just dealing with a simple gangster
  156. >The Boss took brief stock of his situation
  157. >In particular, he eyed you after looking to Luna and Celestia
  158. >You were a wild card he didn't like
  159. >“Sandy”
  160. >He called out
  161. >“Yeah, Boss”
  162. >“Go take care of that dragon, would'ja? And make sure Miss Rarity and the others get a good look.”
  163. >“Yeah, boss.”
  164. >He knuckles casually out of the room, vanishing into a dark corridor
  165. >You manage, finally, to get to your feet
  166. >You are wobbly, woozy
  167. >You've taken worse beatings, but they really must have just hit you with the best shot of your life
  168. >Celestia stamped a hoof to the ground
  169. >“Anonymous, go help the others.”
  170. But--
  171. >You almost protest
  172. >She looks over her shoulder at you, flaring her wings aggressively
  173. >Those eyes
  174. >You've not seen those eyes since the last time you defied her
  175. >It filled you with a horrific terror that froze you in place, clenching your teeth
  176. >It was like you were staring into the depths of pandemonium
  177. >“Please.”
  178. >She says
  179. >The way she says it, despite your knowing that she was so upset
  180. >It was laced with love and care
  181. >You were able to make yourself move
  182. >You shifted past them, giving Celestia and Luna an uneasy look
  183. >You didn't feel right abandoning them, or Twilight
  184. >But you had a job to do
  185. >You took off after Sandy
  186. >And the Boss made no effort to stop you
  187.
  188. >A moment later, the Boss shifts the cigar in his mouth
  189. >“Ya know you just killed em', right?”
  190. >He asks
  191. >“We'll see...”
  192. >Celestia says
  193. >Her and Luna spread out, looking down on their opponent, keeping their distance
  194. >The Boss doesn't even bother to track them
  195. >“Cruel as always. Your little puppet, there? He ain't got a chance in Tartarus. Did you see him? He could barely stand.”
  196. >Celestia's horn began to glow
  197. >“He's not a puppet.”
  198. >“...Not anymore.”
  199. >The Boss chortles
  200. >Luna speaks up
  201. >“He'll surprise you. He has a knack for survival.”
  202. >The Boss's jovial chuckle dies out
  203. >“You ain't kidding anyone, blueberry. You ain't helping him, this time.”
  204. >The two Alicorns snarl
  205. >“It'll be really fun, watching Twilight's spirit break before she kicks the bucket. I hope you two are ready.”
  206. >“This little dance?”
  207. >“Thousands of years in the making.”
  208.
  209. >As you pursue Sandy down the dark halls, the complex rocks on its foundations
  210. >You are nearly thrown off your feet as loud explosions ripple the atmosphere behind you
  211. >It feels like a deep beating in your chest
  212. >But you had your own part to play, and now it was time to get to it
