Chapter 2

I awoke sometime later to what sounded like pots and pans banging around in another room. I felt well rested and started getting myself up. Again, I was greeted with the same bars in front of my face as before.

 

"Huh, so it wasn't a dream after all" I thought to myself as I began to stretch a bit.

 

It was then when I noticed something I hadn't noticed before. While I couldn't reach behind my back to feel it, I could tell I had two extra appendages coming out of my back.

 

"No way, I'm a pegasus? That is so cool!"

 

I tried flapping them a bit to see if they would work, and sure enough, I felt them move a bit. I can't believe I missed them the last time I woke up, but hey, I had them, and I was happy. I mean, who doesn't dream about flying?

 

"Oh wow, I can't wait until I'm able to use these things"

 

I spent a few minutes admiring my newest feature until I came across something I hadn't felt before I went to bed. I felt a soft padding in between my legs, and as I removed my blanket, my speculation was confirmed. I was wearing a diaper. I honestly don't remember if I was wearing one before, but while I was a bit embarrassed, I guess it was to be expected. After all, I was essentially a baby again, right?

 

With nothing to do for the moment, I decided to look around a bit. The room seemed to be decorated now, with toys, a changing table, and filled with baby supplies. There was also what looked to be some unopened wallpaper in the corner. I also looked out the window to see that the sky was orange, so it must still be the same day. Looking in my crib, I saw my rattle and the Teddy Bear from the playpen. The bear kind of reminded me of one that I had when I was little. Well, when I was on back on Earth anyways. I called him Teddy. Not very original, but hey, he kept me company when I was alone.

 

I felt my stomach rumble a I was reminded f the fact that I haven't eaten anything today. I needed to find some way of letting my new guardians know. I didn't feel like crying, and I couldn't exactly tell them directly, so I had to think of something.

 

"I've got it! I'll just strum my rattle across the bars of my crib. They should be able to her that"

 

I only had to do that for about a minute until Blue Mist came in and greeted me

 

"Hey buddy, how'd you sleep?"

 

I gave him some happy gibberish to show hime I was doing alright.

 

"You woke up just in time too. Dinner will be ready in any minute now"

 

He then picked me up and carried me to the dining room. Waiting for me was Pita Bread preparing dinner and highchair just for me.

 

"Did you have a good nap sweetie?" She said as she stirred something in a small pot.

 

"I think he did. You were out for quite awhile there" he said as he ruffled my hair.

 

"Well dinner is just about done. You're in for a treat Sourdough. I just made some delicious mashed carrots for you, doesn't that sound nice?"

 

I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of vegetables. Even as an adult, I almost never ate them unless I needed to, so I really wasn't looking forward to this. But then again, ponies don't exactly eat meat, which means I'm gonna have to get used to it sooner or later. Plus, she did go to the trouble of cooking this for me anyway. The least I could do is try it out. So with that, I feigned my excitement and awaited to be served.

 

I was again lifted up, this time into my new highchair, and soon after that was served my dinner by Pita. The carrots didn't actually taste that bad. While it was almost soup-like in how mashed up they were, the carrots themselves were actually kind of sweet. Normally when I ate carrots they were pretty tasteless, but these ones I really started to enjoy. Maybe it was the fact that a new body comes with new tastebuds, or maybe Pita Bread is just a really good cook. I don't know, but it really made my first dinner an enjoyable one.

 

It wasn't long before I was finished eating, and with a full belly decided to sit quietly for a bit. After Pita cleaned some of the food that got on my face, she served herself and Blue some salads.

 

"Wow" I thought to myself "They served a better cooked for me than for themselves. That's really something"

 

As I waited for them to finish, they struck up a conversation, mainly about me and if there was anything they still needed to do or buy.

 

"Well, we should take him to a doctors office tomorrow to get him checked out. I mean, we don't even know how old he is or if there might be anything we should know beforehand" stated Blue mist

 

"Yeah, you're right. There's a pediatrician across town that should be able to see him right away"

 

"You think he's free tomorrow morning? We should try and see him as soon as possible"

 

"Hmm, well it is getting a little late, so his office is most likely closed. But I did want to take Sourdough out to shop for clothes tomorrow anyway, so we could try and see him while we're there."

 

"Sounds like a plan. Is there anything else we should get while we're out? I think we got pretty much everything we needed for the nursery."

 

"I think we have everything we need for now"

 

They continued to talk for a good half hour or so, mostly about me and if there was anything they still needed to do, how they where going to balance everything out, who was going to do what, that sort of thing. While it did get a little boring after a bit, they did drop some bits of information that did interest me. Turns out blue Mist works on the weather team, which means he would also be working with Rainbow Dash, which was cool, seeing as how she was my favorite. Pita bread worked as a bread baker, which really wasn't a surprise, but was kind of interesting that her and the Cakes were really good friends.

 

Eventually they got done talking and started to put away the dishes. I was then lifted up as all three of us proceeding to a living room. It looked pretty standard, and had a very homely feel to it. In the middle were a few of my new toys, and was set on the ground right with them. Pita Bread sat on the couch and floated a book over to read, while Blue Mist trotted over to what looked like big old fashioned radio, kinda like the ones my grandparents had when they were kids. I guess that means TV doesn't exist in Equestria. Not surprising, but this places anachronisms are really weird at times.

 

Anyway, he then turned on some kind of news station, and then joined Pita Bread on the couch. Todays top stories included a meeting with Princess Celestia and the Griffon Emperor, a run-off election in Fillydelphia, and some scandal involving Sapphire Shores. I guess not to different from back at home, but having ponies involved sort of made more interesting to listen to.

 

After that was all said in done, the radio began to play some jazzy music. With nothing else to do, I looked around to see what was going on in the room. Blue and Pita were still sitting together, though Blue seemed to bee dozing off a bit. Judging by how dark the sky was, it must have been getting late. Pita seemed entranced by her book. I can't tell you what it was called, but it had a mare and stallion walking on a beach next to a lighthouse, so I can assume it must have been some sort of romance novel.

 

Looking around a little further, I saw something caught my eye. It was a big mirror, one of those ones you hang on your wall, and it looked low enough for me to see into it. Finally, I could get a proper look at myself. I crawled over quietly, making sure not to disturb Blue and Pita, and braced myself for what I would see. Staring back at me was a cinnamon colored foal, with a light brown mane and tail and dark blue eyes. I stared at myself for a couple of minutes, trying to get used to my new reflection. This was just too weird. I mean, I remembered what I used to look like, and not having your own face starring back at you in the mirror is a little unsettling. As weird as it was looking in the mirror, I must admit, I did look really cute, and I guess that made it a little easier I suppose.

 

 

 

"Honey, look", I heard Pita Bread says

 

"Aww, are you checking yourself out kiddo?" Blue Mist said as he chuckled to himself

 

I turned around to see them getting off the couch and Blue Mist pick me up.

 

"It's getting pretty late for you, and for us too. I think it's been a busy day for all of us"

 

"I think it some ponies bath time!"

 

I wasn't exactly sure how to respond to that one. Sure, I like having a nice hot bath every once and a awhile, but the idea of of other people, or in this case ponies, giving me one made me feel a little bit embarrassed, though seeing the predicament i'm in, I'm really going to have to get over this if I'm going to stay the least bit sane.

 

I was picked up again by Blue Mist and taken to a bathroom. Pita Bread began filling up the tub and began putting some soap in it as well.

 

"Oh, I almost forgot" said Blue Mist as he grabbed something off the counter. " I hope you like rubber duckies"

 

He began to wave a small little rubber duck in my face, as well as make some duck sounds. Something about that just made me want to giggle. It was just really funny for me for some reason, and it seemed to make Blue happy as well.

 

"Water's ready!" said Pita.  She took off my diaper and places me in the bathtub, now filled with bubbles. The temperature was perfect. It was warm enough to feel comfortable in, but not enough to make it feel hot.

 

Pita started to wash me, mainly trying to get the rest of the food off of my face, while Blue continued making duck noises messing with the rubber duck around me. It was a bit weird all in all, but it was a good kind of weird, and I could tell that the two of them were really enjoying this. I played along eventually, and started to have a bit of fun myself. I'd throw bubbles onto them and they'd laugh and do the same to me. We continued to do this for a good 15 minutes before they pulled the drain. I gotta admit, I was a little bit disappointed that it was all over. I was really starting to have fun.

 

After getting all dried off and diapered again, Blue and Pita took me back to my room. It was rather good timing too, as I was just beginning to get tired, and I could tell b looking at them that they seemed just as tired as me. I don't blame them, I mean taking in a baby is a pretty big thing, and I seemed to come to them by complete surprise. I wish I was able to talk and tell them how much I appreciated what they were doing, but at the moment, i'm not sure I needed to. Right now, they just seemed so happy to be taking care of me, nothing else really mattered.

 

They put me in the crib and each kissed me goodnight. As Blue Mist tucked me into my covers, Pita got out a book to read to me. It was Goodnight Moon. Kinda funny they have that same book here even in Equestria. As Pita began to read, her voice was like a hypnotic lullaby, not unlike how she sang to me earlier today when I was upset. By the time she finished the book, i was almost dead asleep. I just remember hearing the sound of trotting and the flick of a light switch as I drifted off to dreamland.
