7 am Thursday, October 31st

You put the last finishing touches on your dress that you'll be wearing for Rarity's costume party tonight.

You roll your shoulders, eying the red satin dress critically, mouth set in a thin line.

"Is that enough sequins...?"

"AMY! BREAKFAST IS READY!" your mother calls from down the hall.

You stick your head out the door and yell back "COMING!"

You look at the dress one more time and nod in approval.

Yep, definitely enough sequins.

 

Three waffles later, you slip your backpack on and head out the door.

Your light purple moped is waiting for you in the driveway, like always.

You give your machine a loving pat on the handlebars and climb on.

You take a refined sip of your coffee and set the cup down next to your plate.

The table is empty, save for you.

Breakfast always seems so lonely in this house.

An opened letter lies on the table's surface.

You pick it up and read it's contents again.

 

In elegant purple script, the paper reads

> Rarity's Halloween Soiree!

 

> Costumes required

 

You snort out of amusement.

Slicking back your hair, you ball the invitation up and toss it.

"You're seriously tossing that out?"

You arch an eyebrow, "Ever heard of a door, Vinnie?"

Vinyl grins at you and hauls herself in through the window.

She's wearing...pink.

"What are you?" you ask, stunned.

Her cheeks turn red with embarrassment.

"T-this is a deal I made w-with Tavi."

She fiddles with her tiara and sets it on the table.

Her outfit consists of a short pink dress with poofy sleeves and white gloves.

White high heels adorn her dainty feet with white thigh highs hugging her legs.

"I..." your at a loss of words.

"A-anyway, you're going to the party right?" She sits down and takes a bite out of your toast.

"I was thinking about it," you smile and lightly tap her knuckles, successfully stopping her from sneaking a mini cinnamon roll off of your plate. "If you're hungry, Vinnie, just ask."

"Yeah yeah, whatever." She waves you off and takes the roll anyway. "But you're going right?"

"Hn." You give her a smug smile and take another sip. "We should get going soon."

 

First Period

You doodle a pumpkin on the margin of your notebook, waiting for class to start.

After breakfast, you and Vinnie drove your car to school with her trying to find out what your costume was going to be.

The guesses varied from a vampire to Chewbacca.

You smile at this, not telling her that your costume is inside your locker at school.

"Nolan!" You look up to see the Flash grinning at you. "What up?"

"...Is that you, Brad?"

"The one and only!"

He sends you double pistols and a wink before taking his seat.

He's closely followed by a mime.

It pantomimes a greeting and... "you'd like a cupcake?" She nods and holds out her hands expectantly.

You shake your head, "Unfortunately I don't have any, Miss... uh..."

She points to her name tag. It reads "Pinkie Pie."

She takes your hand and shakes it vigorously and leaves.

It's not long before the bell rings and Ms. Harshwhinny walks into the room.

Much to the class's surprise she's wearing a costume.

As a horse jockey, complete with a riding crop.

"All right class! Just because it's Halloween doesn't mean I'll allow you to slack off!" She smacks her desk with a resounding THWACK.

She points her crop at all of you, "Now take your textbooks out and open them to page 203. Ditzy Doo, you're up."

"Y-yes ma'am!"

"What do you mean he's unsure?" You purse your lips into a pout.

Vinyl merely shrugs and continues working on the lab project, rock candy.

"Who knows Rara. It's not like I can peek into his mind."

"But darling, it's the party that one cannot simply dismiss!" You sigh and slump on the desk.

"Heh, speaking of which," she eyes you up and down, "Nice costume. Made it yourself?"

You blink at her, "Huh? Oh, why yes. Two months of planning and a week to make." You do a twirl to show off your hard work. "Isn't it lovely?"

"You make a lovely Countess."

"Ohohohoho! I sure hope so," you pull a fan out of your sleeve and hide behind it like a court lady would do.

It's a Victorian dress dyed in blood red, the wait trimmed with ribbon and lace to simulate a corset. The petticoat is black and carries white feathers at the trim. "It's not too much, is it?"

Vinyl shakes her head and adds water to the beaker.

It feels like you're being interrogated.

The moment you walked in the room, a vampire slammed into you, demanding to know why Nolan North had not RSVP'ed her invitation yet.

"I really don't know, maybe something is going on at home?"

Which you know is bullshit. But Rarity doesn't have to know.

"You think so? He's the only one who hasn't responded. Not even to decline!"

Your phone goes off to a remix of 'Hold Me'.

You pause your experiment to look at the screen. "It's Nolan."

"Oh?" Rarity removes her goggles to take a look.

"He says.."

> Be Mysterious Cloaked Person

 

You cackle as you complete the magic circle you've drawn on the school's rooftop.

The sky has turned dark and ominous as if anticipating your offering.

"Now for the last step..." you reach into your bag and pull out a dagger.

Your cackling turns into insane giggles as you slice your fingers, scarlet blood splattering over the carcass of a dove.

You take a deep breath and chant.

 

O night of fright

I beseech you with my plight

Take my offering, blood pure red

To wake all the demons from their beds

 

Lightning flashes and the circle glows with an eerie light.

"At last..."

You stare out the window, wondering why the sky has suddenly turned stormy.

You smother your laughter. Maybe the weather is trying to get into the Halloween mood as well.

The music teacher, Mrs. Shores, taps her ruler against the blackboard.

"Eyes up here, Amy Heart." You obediently nod and your attention shifts back to the lesson.

A low growl interrupts, followed by one of your costumed classmates howling in pain.

"Octavia! Are you all right?!" you rush over immediately to your classmate.

"Zis is...ACK!" she winces and doubles over, her wolf ears twitching.

Wait...

"Please, run!" she waves her hand in your face, now covered in fur.

The entire class erupts in panic.

The quiet Fluttershy is making mewling noises which turns into hissing and she slinks towards you, her face contorted into a nasty snarl.

She and Octavia leap at you, claws bared.

You're trying to keep a Frankenstein's monster away.

Brad has his back to you, doing the same with a clove of garlic and a vampire.

"What's going on?!" you yell.

"Dunno man, looks like everyone is acting like the costume they are wearing!" He pauses, as if he's had an epiphany.

Next thing you know he's gone in...a flash.

"Bradical!"

Pinkie Pie is over near a corner, pantomiming loading a cannon. When it 'goes off', part of the wall collapses.

How...

No time, she motions for you to follow her, which you oblige after you kick the monster into the cleaning supplies closet.

"Let's go, Brad!"

"On it!"

You dash out into the hallway and plunge into chaos.

Non-costumed students are trying to fend off the 'monster' students.

A few superheroes are helping to keep them at bay.

"Man, looks like some freaky shit is going down." Brad observes, decking a gorgon in it's eyes.

"You think?!" you duck a swing from a mummy.

"Brad! Nolan!" A Zorro swings down from unknown places, brandishing his sword. It's Norman. "Why is this happening?!" You all see the next wave approaching. He sheathes his blade and grabs you and Brad by your collars and drags you off into the hallways. "No time! We have to find the cause of this!"

MAXIMUM PANIC

Rarity stands at the front of the room, brandishing her fan like a weapon, a homicidal smile on her face.

"So many pretty girls here," she says licking her lips. "I'm sorry darlings, but I have to kill you so that I may bathe in your lovely blood so I can stay young...FOREVER!" She leaps at the closest girl, a techie nicknamed Carrot Top.

"Sto-" You reach out for Rarity but the door is blasted open.

"Stop Rarity! This isn't like you!" A robed student in a belled hat stands there, a wand in their hand.

Rarity stops her onslaught and turns to look at the intruder, eyes shining with bloodlust, "Oh? Do tell me what I'm like, dear Twilight." She walks towards her, her heels clicking on the linoleum floor.

"Not like this," Twilight Sparkle's eyes shine with determination. "You're a kind and generous person..." she reaches her hand out, a blue ball of energy forming. "A true friend, and it pains me to do this."

She sends the ball flying at Countess Rarity, who dodges it.

"Excellent! This is how it feels to be truly alive!" Great, now she's talking like a generic villain. "But..." she cackles and disappears. Her voice echoes around the room "What about your dear friend?"

You feel a chill run down your spine and you feel a looming presence behind you. "Dear Faust..."

You are roughly grabbed and Rarity's absurdly sharp nails are pressed against your jugular.

"What will you do now, Twi. Light. Spar. Kle?" her breath is close to your ear and you shiver.

"L-let her go!"

You had run out into the hallway just in time before you could be turned into shredded meat by Octavia and Fluttershy.

Only to be almost blown against the wall by an explosion.

Out of the debris comes Nolan, followed by Brad and...Pinkie Pie?

You're almost certain is her.

No one would think of dressing up as a mime except for Pinkie.

She notices you and waves.

"What's going on, Pinkie?" You skirt around the other students, narrowly avoiding stepping on a pixie.

She doesn't speak, just begins doing wild gestures.

"...'I don't know, everyone is suddenly turning into their costumes...'?" you're almost grateful you left your costume at home. The last thing you want is to begin dancing in the middle of the hallway.

Pinkie takes your hand and points over to where Nolan, Brad, and a Zorro are making a hasty retreat. "Gotcha, let's follow them!"

 

> Be Nolan

 

 "I didn't know you were a fan of Zorro, Norm," you say as the three of you tear down the hallways, fending off any students that leap at you.

"Ha! Who wouldn't be? He's so badass." Norman roundhouses a zombie Featherweight. "Sorry man!"

Brad throws an arm up, causing you to slam into Norman's back. "I think I hear Twilight."

"Huh?"

 "Dude. Never question the Bradster when he's talking about his waifu."

"Wai-"

"fu?"

You and Norman share a look of confusion.

"Come on, slowpokes." He runs off abandoning you and Norman.

"WAIT UP BRAD!" Norman yells and starts going after him. You hesitate, your locker is right over there..."Nolan?"

"I'll catch up, don't worry." You give him a thumbs up and leap at your locker.

Flinging it open, you fish out the costume you had stashed here a few days earlier.

"Set."

 

> Be Amy

 

 Lost sight of them when you hear an awfully familiar scream.

Pinkie's eyes widen and she grabs your arm, pulling you towards the scream.

"You're right, someone could be in trouble."

Pinkie nods and then skids to a stop.

You pause and look at the scene in front of you.

"L-let her go, Rarity!"

You hear a burst of laughter from within the classroom.

"What's wrong, darling? Where did your bravado go?" There's a pause. "Ah ah ah, Vinyl."

Your eyes widen. Vinyl? Rarity has Vinyl?

"Twilight, what's going on?!" you rush forward and look inside the classroom.

There.

Rarity stands there with a feral look on her face, blood red lips curled back into a cold smirk.

Vinyl is in front of her, looking helpless.

As Princess Peach.

Fucking hell.

"Well well, if it isn't Amy Heart."

 

> Be Vinyl

 

You try to pry Rarity's hands off of you, but it's like she now has the strength of ten men.

"Rar...kuh!" you choke on your words as she presses her nails harder against your neck.

You can feel a small trickle of blood from where she has nicked the skin.

You look at all the other students who are too frightened to do anything.

Fucking pussies.

You grit your teeth and wish you had picked a better costume.

All your strength has been depleted and you eel like being saved.

'Please find me, Nolan." You think to yourself.

"Well well, if it isn't Amy Heart."

Amy? You slowly open your eyes and see Amy standing there beside Twilight.

She looks angry and scared.

"Let her go, Rara. She's done nothing to you!"

"Ahahahaha! How cute! This isn't because of something she's done sweetie," Rarity pauses and sweeps a finger over your blood and smears some of it on her face. "I just want her virgin blood, that's all."

"You hate getting dirty! Blood is dirty!" Twilight shouted, still aiming her wand at Rarity.

"This is different! This is for beauty! Eternal beauty!"

 

> Be Norman

 

"Eternal beauty!"

That sounds like...Aryan Beauty.

"No..." your stumble through the rest of the way.

Sure enough, as Brad had said, Purple was there, with Pinkie and Amy.

The three girls were glaring into the classroom, at something you couldn't see.

"Twilight!"

"B-Brad? What are...?"

 

> Be Nolan

Finally got your costume on and feeling your hunting instincts taking over.

That same instinct is driving you to go in the opposite direction of where your friends went.

"The roof...?"

You go up the nearest staircase that goes to the roof and bump into Snips and Snails. They aren't dressed up so they aren't a threat.

Snails grabs you by the collar of your duster, tears streaming out of his mad eyes.

"You have to help her!"

Slightly disturbed, you push him off of you.

"Help who?"

"Trixie! She's gone mad as a hatter!"

Oh dear Faust.

"Take me to her."

He nods and begins pulling you up the stairs to the rooftop, Snips following closely behind.

The sky is dark and ominous and a lone figure is sprawled on the rooftop.

Silver strands of hair flit in the wind, dark red marring it's ethereal beauty.

"Trixie!"

Drastic times call for drastic measures.

"YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

You throw yourself against Rarity, slamming into her.

With a yelp, she releases Vinyl and you both crash on the floor.
