  2.
  3. >"Good morning mother, how did you sleep?"
  4.
  5.
  6. >I am perfect, I am pure
  7. >I am the absolution,
  8. >I am the ultimate
  9. >I am the only
  10. >I am the one to bring this land to peace
  11. >I am the one to protect this world
  12. >I am perfect, I am pure
  13. >I am eternal
  14. >I am, alone
  15.
  16. >Twilight awoke in her bed, a cold sweat covering her
  17. >She felt as though she may vomit, not from nausea, but this eerie feeling that enveloped her
  18. >It was that dream again, of him
  19. >In the beginning, before he turned, she felt close to him, almost, compassionate
  20. >But he did not know emotion, such things belittled him
  21. >He was unfeeling
  22. >Incapable of knowing the nature of the spirit
  23. >And she had suffered from this fact
  24. >It would not be a stretch to say she cared for him, more than any other p0ny would
  25. >But it didn't matter, he was nuetral, in all aspects
  26. >His body, his mind, his soul
  27. >He did not share these emotional connections as Twilight felt
  28. "It doesn't matter Twilight, he betrayed you. He betrayed everyone."
  29. >As she shifted from her bed, getting up, staring at her quarters
  30. >A simple bed, a single bookshelf, packed tight with tomes of various sizes and colours
  31. >Most damaged beyond repair, knowledge, lost
  32. >The room smelled of basalt and mildew, the walls dry and cracked
  33. >A small latern hung from a peg in the ceiling
  34. >Twilight cast a small ball of light that floated up into the enclosing of the lantern, bathing the room in a dim light
  35. >There was a rather large desk, patially cracked and broken
  36. >A few books laid stacked messily next to several standing viles and flasks, one underneath a crudely made titration rigment
  37. >A Yellow brown liquid dripped from a filtered plunker into a particular flask that contained a slated blue amorphis liquid
  38. >Twilight picked up celestia's horn from her bedside and walked it over to the desk
  39. "I'm sorry princess, but I must do what is needed."
  40. >Using her magic, twilight twisted the cock, stopping the drip, and took the blue liquid from it's resting place
  41. >She carried them to the other side of the room, to a small stand that held a plated burner
  42. >Settling the flask on the burner, she opened one of the drawers revealing a multited of different leaves, barks, seeds, flits, and wood shavings
  43. >She levitated three long thick leaves into the air, wrapping them tightly around the horn, then fitting some yellow flits into the end, before closing off the leaves
  44. >A thin purple string appeared around the leaves, wrapping the opposite direction of the leaves, then doubling back and tying ends
  45. >She then emersed the wrapped horn in the blue substance, bubbles slowly escaping as the horn sank
  46. >She stared at the flask, her eyes beginning to water, before turning away
  47.
  48. >Today was a day like any other, even through the ravages of the outside world, this community managed to survive
  49. >Twilight walked the pathed corridors of rock to the clearing, Utopia
  50. >She, among others, had come to find this her resolute, sanctuary
  51. >Among them, was one approaching her
  52. >"Twlight Sparkle, I did not expect to see you so soon, the journey should have taken you till next moon"
  53. >Zecora
  54. >She has certainly been one of the most and only helpful of the others
  55. >And quite so much more intelligent than the rest
  56. >But, it's that quirk to her is a bit.....
  57. >"Surely I trust you found what you seek, might you tell me
  58. >Annoying
  59. >Granted, she's upfront and honest, even to the point of apathy
  60. >It's nice that she's straight forward, but it comes ay a toll
  61. "I could only get one, the horn."
  62. >"A horn you say? A a powerful magic I see, but what came of the other three?"
  63. >Twilight looked to the floor, then to Zecora
  64. "There aren't anymore dragons around, I don't know if they're hiding or ...."
  65. >She stopped dead, she couldn't finish the setence
  66. >"A dragon's soul we will need, as well as the heart to make it bleed"
  67. "I know I know! But there are no more dragons, they're all gone."
  68. >Zecora shuffled in her stance, stalling for what she did not wish to bring up
  69. >"I am sorry to ask of this, but what of the young dragon-"
  70. "They're ALL gone, okay?! All of them. Gone."
  71. >Zecora shifted her glance away slightly
  72. >"It would be for the best to sacrifice, the one life for those of the many to save, it would suffice."
  73.
  74. "Zecora!!"
  75. >Twilight voice was hoarse and seething with anger and disgust
  76. >Catching herself, she withdraw, stipening her anger
  77. >"I am sorry to make such a brash taction, but these times, may call for such an action ."
  78. >Twilight grimaced, she was right, desperate times .....
  79. "NO! If I betray my friends, then I'm no better than him!"
  80. "I would never do such a thing to Spike, I can't."
  81. >Holding back the same tears every time is getting really old, really fast
  82. >But Twilight still forced herself to stave them off
  83. >"I'm ... sorry, I was a fool to say such a thing, please, forgive my  selfish being"
  84. >Twilight stared at her front legs upon the dirt
  85. "It's .... it's fine, I ... I don't even know what happened to spike."
  86. >A silence fell between the two
  87. "It doesn't matter anyway, all the dragons are gone, their brains were as small as their bodies were large."
  88. "Trying to take on Discord, and then him, it was suicide."
  89. >"Perhaps, there may be other dragons, small not huge, who have taken refuge."
  90. "I don't know, if hey are out thwere, they would be near impossible to find, let alone being able to handle one."
  91. "And if in groups, they could prove to be more than their worth."
  92. >Twilight straightened up
  93. "Zecora, is it possible to substitute the dragon's soul?"
  94. >Zecora half turned, facing the wall of bottled brews
  95. >"I am afraid I do not know, This concoction is of ancient tongue. To understand it fully we require one of the elden young."
  96. >Elden young, that's a name Twilight hadn't heard in a long while
  97. >The old peace keepers of the lost lands
  98. >It had been in one of her books, she first took note of them
  99. >And it after Discords rising, Princess Celestia had mentioned the ways of the old
  100. >A magic powerful enough to shape the very fabric of space and time
  101. >A magic held by theirselves, not to be trusted in mortals grasp
  102. >Beings to create existence
  103. >Gods
  104.
  105. >Twilight sank into the soft padding strewn across her bed and sighed
  106. >A depressive felling creeping over her, she was running out of time
  107. >Every new day was a day closer to him finding their hold
  108. >When their time would finally end
  109. >When the world will fall it's final time, and be lost to this chaos
  110. >Twilight looked the the flask containing the blue liquid and Celestia's horn
  111. >A thin opal white mist rose off the surface where a thick layer of light blue bubbles had formed
  112. >Good, it's working
  113. >Twilight laid back, her head rested on a small pile of gathered hay.
  114. >The smell of hay filled her nostrils
  115. >Fresh cut hay, at the apple's farm
  116. >The smell of the barn full of hay, the cellar of apples, Granny Smith's sweet apple pie
  117. >Her friends, gathered around with her, glasses full of Applejack's new drink
  118. >Apple of course, but sparkling cider. Delicious
  119. >Even Rarity had formally praised Applejack on her achievement
  120. >Pinkie, of course, the most estatic begged her to make it everyday, swear hat p0ny even cries bubble gum
  121. >Rainbow, with her hoof around AJ's neck, holding her close
  122. >She had always cared about Applejack more than any other p0ny, nothing personal though
  123. >She loved AJ, and that made her happy
  124. >And Fluttershy, sitting to the side, drinking her cider, at least before Pinkie pulled her up, dancing or something
  125. >It was Pinkie, she was, .... different
  126. >But Fluttershy, always looked so helpless, so scared so ....
  127. >The image of Fluttershy's corpes flashed into Twilight's mind
  128. > ....... dead .....
  129.
  130. >Twilight awoke with a startle, her heart racing
  131. >placing a hoof on her chest, she looked off to the wall she had arrived through before
  132. >Just right through there, She's right there
  133. "She's right there .... and you couldn't save her."
  134. >Her head in her hooves now
  135. "She was right there Twilight! Why couldn't you save her?! Why?! Why?! Why?!"
  136. >With each 'why' Twilight knocked a hoof to her head
  137. "Why can't you keep your friends safe?!"
  138. >Hitting herself
  139. "Why?!"
  140. >Again
  141. "Why?!"
  142. >Again
  143. "WHY?!"
  144. >With a final strike, she clipped her snout, blood trickling out her nose, scratches and bruises forming on her face
  145. "WHY ARE YOU SO STUPID?! WHY ARE YOU SO FUCKING USELESS?!!"
  146. >She was holding herself, tears streaming down her face, mixing with the blood spattered on the floor
  147. >From the clearing, nearly every p0ny could hear her wails echoing from the halls leading to her room
  148. >No one dared to go to her, either out of fear, or just knowing they would be of any help
  149. >No one dared to go to her, except
  150.
  151. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvvFnR0kJFw
  152.
  153. >upon entering the room, there laid Twilight, curled up, sobbing
  154. >Walking to the purple p0ny Applejack climbed onto the bed alongside Twilight
  155. >"Look here sugercube, ya can't keep blaming yerself fer what happened ta them. It wasn't your fault, it was all cause that rat Discord, not you."
  156. >Aj nudged her a bit, bringing her head up
  157. >"Ah know you've been keepin all this inside fer so long, but ya need to let it go."
  158. >She wiped the tears and blood from Twilight's cheek, smearing a bit into her fur
  159. >"Ah'm sorry ta say it, but yes, Pinkie and Fluttershy are gone. But it wasn't your fault. We knew going inta this that it'd be dangerous, but we jus wasn't ready."
  160. "But the princess trusted me to watch over everyone. She gave me the task to keep you all safe,... and I failed her."
  161. >Twilight buried her face back in her hooves
  162. "I failed her and now there's no way I can ever-"
  163. >"Will ya shut up already?!"
  164. >Twilight looked up, wide eyed to her friend who wore a face more of annoyance than sympathy
  165. "Wha ... b-but I..."
  166. >"Listen, I know yer sad about our friends bein gone an all, but layin here cryin ain't gonna do a damn thing fer no one."
  167. >Twilight sniffled, looking over her friend
  168. >She's right
  169. >"Now you listen ta me Twi, We're all mournin our friend's passin, but we gotta stay strong an carry on. Not jus fer ourselves, but fer their sake as well. Just layin around an waitin fer the end, they woulda died fer nothin! Heck, all teir sacrifice, gone fer nothin."
  170. >She's right
  171. >She always is
  172. "I'm .... I'm sorry, Applejack... I know we have to be strong, for them ... Bu I can't do it alone."
  173. >"Well a'course ah'm gonna be helpin ya, ah wasn't gonna give ya a choice fer that one."
  174. "Twilight smiled, a rare occurance these days
  175. "Thank you, AJ"
  176. >"No problem at all sweetie,"
  177.
  178. >Applejack's expression became serious
  179. >"Now, ah hear fer this thing you an Zecora are cookin up, ya'll need a ... dragon's souls?"
  180. "Yes, we need the soul of a dragon, AND the hert of another."
  181. >Twilight sat up, turning her head to the side at mentioning the dragon's heart.
  182. >"Another? So ya need two dragon's then huh? Sheesh, gotta pick the difficult stuff, don'tcha?"
  183. "Sorry, but it's the only thing we know of to use for the tonic. Zecora said it's of Elden young origin, but she only know so much of their language. We'd nee one of them here to translate it all. But they're long gone."
  184. >"Elden young? An jus who in tarnation is that?"
  185. >Twilight perked up a bit, it had been ages since she had been able to tech someone something. Whether AJ was just giving her this, or if she onestly didn't know, it didn't matter, Twilight wanted to enjoy this
  186. "Well you see, the Elden young were the acnient ones, the beings of old, who shaped the world around them as they saw fit."
  187. >AJ had a look of pure confusion
  188. >"So wait, if they're so old, why're theycalled young?"
  189. >Wow, this p0ny sersiously doesn't know shit about history
  190. "Well, they're called Elden because they're of elden times, and young because they have eternal youth. They were immortals."
  191. >AJ's confusion deepened
  192. >"Immortal? Then how are they not here now if an they can't die?"
  193. "That's just it, no one knows what happened to them, or if they rvrn existed at all. All that's left are the ruins and the old texts that predate record of any creatures within Equestria and the outer lands."
  194. >"Wait, you mean their old homes 'ave been around before ... life?"
  195. "No, they were alive, or, at least they might have been."
  196. >"Wait wait wait! Whaddaya mean might? An you said 'if they existed', so did they er not?"
  197. "I don't know, there's only the texts that tell of them. We don't know if they reqlly did exist, or if it's all just stories and beliefs of those before us."
  198. >"Well then, how do we tell which is which?"
  199. >Twilight looked down, saddened
  200. "We would have to ask someone who was there back then, some one who would have lived in those times. But the only ones who could survive that long would the the princesses, or ..."
  201. >Twilight grimaced
  202. "Or Discord."
