Finding Ones Self chapter 2

Twilight approached me with a confused look on her face, then a look of sadness. "I'm sorry if I scared you, I am guessing from your reaction this is your first time witnessing magic being used." she said rhetorically as she turned away from me to get some paper and, a quill? My mind when back to the thousands of helpless pens sacrificed to help with my studies. I was snapped back to the new' more colourful reality I was now in by Twilight.

"I am just wanting to make some notes for study purposes. I understand you must have a lot of questions, and I have quite a few to ask myself. As Fluttershy has already told you, we have never seen a creature like you in Equestria before." She said whilst turning to the couch where Fluttershy was. "Come out Fluttershy, he seems kind and placid enough. Just not used to the new enviroment." Twilight called to Fluttershy, who poked her head out from under the couch and replied "Are you sure Twilight? He looks so strange and different. Like nopony I have ever seen before." "I know Fluttershy, remember we thought Zecora was strange and evil. But now she is a valued member of our community, and a dear friend. Do I have to remind you of the friendship report we sent regarding that?"

Twilight huffed in annoyance "Sorry, I am just so flustered over possibly discovering a new species, imagine how proud Celestia would be of me! I must write her a letter about this soon" She remarked again with her eyes gleaming with pride. She turned back to face me, as Fluttershy left from under the couch and decided to make a hasty exit. Mentioning something about having to check and see if the birds were singing, or something along the lines of. I didn't really pay attention. Twilight then directed to me "I suppose we best get these questions started."

 

It was well and truly nightfall by the time we finished answering each others questions.

I learned that I was in the town of Ponyville, which is in the land of Equestria. Where two Princesses rule. Celestia, whom Twilight mentioned earlier, controlled the sun and ruled over the day. Then there was Luna, who controlled the moon and ruled over the night.

I discovered that all sorts of creatures from Earth myth existed for real in Equestria, from Griffins, Hydra, and Dragons. Twilight mentioned that she lived with a young dragon named Spike, who was away in the capital city of Equestria, Canterlot. I also asked about magic, as that really interested means it would anypony else that witnessed its glory.

Twilight explained to me that all creatures have sources of magic inside of them, and that some of them can harness this magic power to do many incredible things. She demonstrated this by making the history books she was showing me flying around the room in a dance and placing them back into the shelved they belong in with so much ease. I realised at this point that this was not just a small study, but in fact an entire library. A LIBRARY! Oh the joy my heart felt once I knew I could read and study here. 'I hope they have the latest issue of Popular Mechanics.' I silently wished in my mind. Twilight then told me that she lived here and that was placed in Spikes room when Fluttershy first arrived with me at, well more dragged me to Twilights home. " I guess that explains the extra bruises and scratches,

 as well as the dirty ripped clothes.” I replied, as I inspected myself, wincing at the pain.

"Don't worry, they should heal up soon. I put some healing magic into the wrappings, and had Zecora make a simple healing salve. They should be fine by the end of tomorrow." Twilight noticed while I was looking at my battle scars of the previous two and a half days.

 

I also taught to Twilight some things about humans and me in general. I told her name, she said she already knew this from Fluttershy. I am a human being from the planet Earth, from the Solar System in the Milky Way galaxy. Twilight eagerly wrote this down and asked for even more information on humans. Not even the Books of Legend and Ancient History sections of the Canterlot Library had any word of humans, she remarked. So I decided to indulge her.

"We humans are omnivores, there are over 7 billion of us populating the planet Earth." Twilight’s eyes widened at such a large number "Our life spans vary, some of the oldest humans have lived to over 120 years old." I slowed my pacing down to allow Twilight to catch up with her notes. I laughed at her as she quickly wrote down the knowledge I was passing on to her with so much vigour. She looked at me "Why are you laughing? This is serious, this information is going to the Princesses you know!” she complained with a huff. "I was just like you back on Earth. Writing my findings and new information with so much passion. You said you are a student of magic are you not?" I enquired with a small smile on my face. Twilight nodded her head "Well I am, well was... a student back on Earth. Not of magic of course." I chuckled to myself at my lame attempt at a joke. It felt good speaking to an academic again. It seemed Twilight brightened up at the idea as well. "What do you study then?" She asked with a small grin on her face. I went on to explain aerodynamics, but then had to explain the basics of human aerodynamics. As Twilight told me there were no such things as airplanes and helicopters in Equestria. There was no need due to the pegasai already having wings. "You noticed them on Fluttershy didn't you?" She asked rhetorically to me. My heart sank then I heard this. My final hope for finding some sense of normality in this strange new environment was gone... forever. Until Twilight made a comment, which gave me, some hope. "We do have hot air balloons though."
