- >A cool night’s breeze blows through the windows and across your tired face
- >The night is making its usual array of noises accompanied by the soft sound of rain
- >Your once neatly trimmed facial hair has been replaced with a rough unsightly beard
- >It has been many years since you last pulled that trigger
- >You remember the day you made your official retirement
- >You close your eyes to remember the life you have lived for so long
- - - -
- >You were an assassin
- >Your boss had been a father to you since the day he found you on the streets
- >He taught you everything he knew; he turned you into something seemingly unstoppable
- >You were his best friend, his son, and his weapon
- >In time, he let you in on his past life as an assassin
- >Soon he received assignments and passed them onto you
- >You remembered everything he told you before your first time out
- >”Don’t be afraid, these are bad people who deserve what they get”
- >He told you the people you would be “taking care” of were drug dealers, gangsters, and other bad citizens
- >Before you left for that first assignment he gave you something
- >It was a tactical 1911 with a suppressor and a cold steel oss knife
- >The first kill was the hardest
- >Within your first year you had eliminated a lot of the major criminals in the area
- >You found it easier knowing that those who died deserved their punishment…you hated the idea of hurting those who were innocent
- >But that all changed… soon you found yourself dispatching government officials, detectives, and other figures of authority
- >Before long you had lost count of those you killed and your mind had become an emotionless abyss
- >But deep down inside you had retained your sanity and you hated yourself for becoming a mindless murderer
- >You wanted to do good not evil and then you snapped
- >You read the order for a target, some girl, pursuing a career in the medical field, carrying out an internship at the local hospital
- >It was midnight and you set out for your target, but things didn’t feel right
- >You couldn’t imagine what she could have done wrong, but whatever it was it must have been serious
- >There you were waiting in a parking garage for some girl you were supposed to kill
- >She begins a walk to her car and you snap out of your state of reflection
- >Beginning your slow walk from the shadows, you creep up behind her
- >She turns as you raise your gun to its resting place about an inch from her temple
- >For a brief second her eyes meet yours; they are a beautiful light green, unlike anything you have ever seen before
- >They become teary and the expression she gives you is one of scared innocence
- >Your heart sinks as you speak
- “I’m sorry”
- >You pull the trigger
- >The sound of brass hitting the ground and a soft thump of her lifeless body bring you to your knees
- >All the emotion you had repressed, all the hatred you had for the creature you had become, came rushing out of you as you cry over her lifeless body
- >She was innocent…and you killed her
- >You stand, pick up your gun, and begin to walk back to the place you call home
- >It is raining outside as you reach home…
- >You are broken and done with this life
- >you walk into your “Father’s” room
- >He is lying down, but turns to meet your lost expression
- >Reality sinks in and his old eyes grow wide
- >You pull the trigger and silence follows
- >After that night, you ran and kept running before finding your way to an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere
- >In time you had fixed it up enough to call it home
- >Living off the land was rough at first but you soon got the hang of it
- >3 years pass and you have felt safe and detached from everything for a fair amount of time
- >Until now…
- - - -
- >Your eyes open as you inhale
- >You gaze to the floor and whisper to yourself
- “All I ever wanted was to help those around me”
- >You look out towards the quiet moon
- “If I could make it all okay…I would”
- >As you finish your outward though you notice something unusual
- >All the crickets, owls, and other noises of the night seem to have stopped
- >An odd feeling in the pit of your stomach forms
- >Your heart starts beating out of control as the sound of gunfire breaks the eerie silence
- >Bullets start shredding through your home as you hit the ground and begin crawling towards your gear
- >You grab your gun, 2 spare magazines and your knife
- >The gunfire ceases
- >Your adrenaline is pumping as you hear voices and footsteps moving towards your bullet riddled home
- >The door is kicked in and in steps a man in a black suit
- >You spin as you stand and bring your pistol to his chest and put 3 rounds through him
- >You break for the front door and as you run through it you meet with another one of your attackers about to make his way in
- >Your left arm swings outward sending your knife into his heart as your right arm swings with it to bring your gun to his face; you pull the trigger
- >You pull your knife from the dead man’s torso and see another man raising a gun towards you from about 10 feet away
- >You raise your right arm with lightning speed and empty the last 4 rounds into your attacker with ease
- >All is quiet as you reload your pistol
- >You steadily make your way around the side of your house
- >You hear a shout
- “This is for Your Father”
- >You turn as a bullet collides with your chest
- >Your gaze meets a man, dressed like the others, walking towards you firing away
- >As another bullet hits you, you begin walking towards him, raising your gun and firing in a steady rhythm
- >You to continue walking towards each other, firing away
- >About 5 feet from each other his gun lets out a metallic click, signaling that it has fired its last shot
- >You fire the last bullet out of your gun and it hits his temple
- >His body falls back and hits the mud
- >You chuckle in a short-lived moment of victory before you fall to your knees
- >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUQuBBBzx-I
- >You look down at yourself, rain washing down your body, mixed with blood
- >You think to yourself as you sit there in silence
- “Damn… what beautiful night…”
- >You chuckle once more and look up at the stars
- >You remember your life, the girl you killed, the night you walked into your “father’s” room and killed him…the time you spent running away, and everything you wish you could have changed through the years
- >You release your final breath
- >Your body slumps forward as the world around you fades into a blackness
- >A soft voice whispers through the dark abyss
- “The road to redemption is a hard one, good luck”
- >You feel a tender breeze brush past your face and the warm rays of the sun beating down on your body
- >Your eyes slowly open only to be met with blinding light
- >You sit upright and Inhale deeply
- >The air is cool and fresh
- “This can’t be happening”
- >You check yourself over and notice you are wearing your black combat boots, black jeans, black shirt and vest, and your lightweight black leather trench coat
- >In your vest you find your empty 1911 with the suppressor still attached, 1 loaded magazine, and your knife
- >You notice your hair is neat and pulled back reaching the bottom of your neck
- “Just how I like it”
- >Your facial hair is trimmed and neat
- “Well, I’ll be damned…this is one hell of a dream”
- >It’s almost as if you were back to your old self
- >Still having trouble facing what is going on, you check to see if you have a pulse
- >You do…
- >You pinch yourself, expecting to not feel a thing, but you feel everything…
- “Well shit…This is really happening”
- >You look around and notice an eerie looking forest about a hundred yards ahead of you
- >And far off to your right there is an odd looking town
- “Ok…This clearly isn’t home, so, how did I get here”
- >You stand and think out loud
- “Ok, Well… I was an assassin, I ran away from my problem for some reason, there was gunfire, and then there was darkness, and a voice, the voice said the road to redemption is a—“
- >”HEY Whyareyoutalkingtoyours--“
- >”AGHHHH”, you scream as you spin around and fall on your back
- >”Oh my gosh I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to scare you”
- >You look up to see a bright and smiling pink pony looking at you
- >As you stare at it all you can think is what the fuck?
- “What the fuck”
- >You fall back and black out
