Title: A list of skills everyone should possess Author: I_wesley125 Pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/UAfS7QJS First Edit: Friday 15th of May 2015 08:53:17 PM CDT Last Edit: Last edit on: Friday 15th of May 2015 09:03:31 PM CDT This is not a complete list, and I maintain that there is no such thing as too much knowledge. These skills will, if put in a position where you need to survive, short-term or long-term, be greatly beneficial. I will provide some examples in a following document.   The Knowledge: How to Rebuild our World from Scratch by Lewis Dartnell is a good book, but it does not cover many topics in great depth. It will point you in the right direction. http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Knowledge-Rebuild-World-Scratch/dp/1847922279   *In many or all locations, some of these require a license to practice. If getting a license is impossible or impractical, or you are just apposed to the idea, feel free to practice them illegally at your own discretion.   In no particular order: Electronics: Understand standard electronic applied practice, as well as theory. Overall: Low voltage tech, HV tech, theoretical principles (http://www.ibiblio.org/kuphaldt/electricCircuits/ is a great introduction), digital logic, analog signals, and radio*.   Programming: Low level and practical programming are imperative, things like web-design will be relatively useless in a long-term survival situation.   Mechanics: An understanding of engine repair and modification will be useful. EG. modifying an ICE to run on wood-gas.   Chemistry: Allows for the creation of drugs (medical or otherwise), explosives, plastics, and many other things.   Biology: Goes without saying. A basic understanding of biology is very important. Understand common medical problems and learn how to treat them.   Resource gathering: Again, goes without saying.   Architecture, and construction techniques: This includes anything and everything from something as simple as making a Ninja Shelter, to creating multi-story buildings for long term shelter. Although skyscraper construction probably won't do you much good, you can skip that if you want.   Firearms*: Goes without saying.   Engineering: Learn how to MacGyver shit in an emergency. Understand how to make things for long term survival. (http://motherboard.vice.com/read/mbtv-the-technological-disobedience-of-ernesto-oroza interesting article)   Combat: Ask someone you know to train you in unarmed and armed combat. If not possible, learn as much as you can online and take training. Personally, I suggest a combination of Muay Thai, Krav Maga and Systema.   Psychology: Not something I can say I know a lot of, but something useful nonetheless. Preventing anarchy and panic.
