I can’t wait for it!” >Remembering the past between the both of you brought a smile to your face. >Ever since you were a child, Dash stuck her neck out for you, and in return, you did the same. >You both spent countless hours exploring the forest and hills surrounding your old home. >She was a natural born athlete; destined for glory and greatness. >Moreover, the endless hours sprinting next to her testified to the fact. >Dash was impossibly fast, and still was to this day. >Regardless, the two of you always found joy in danger – the adventure. >Once, you both found an ancient burial site while exploring. >It was unlike anything you had seen before: as if, thousands of years of collective imagination had condensed into a single entity. >According to Dash, the place was probably an underground citadel from a long lost empire. >Nothing was unexplored; each hall and room meticulously searched for plunder – the sake of adventure! >Eventually, the both of you discovered what you assumed was the inner sanctum. >A peculiar object pierced the heart of the room – a monolith surrounded by four pedestals, each with an individual runic tablet upon its face. >Your backpack was already quite heavy, but Dash insisted and charged forward. >You followed her. >Each tablet inscribed a particular runic symbol, individual in its own right. >Dash took two, as did you. >As if by script, the entire room shook apart. >You and Dash barely managed to escape alive that day. >The entrance to the ruin shook itself apart, collapsing >Archeologists would have a field day if they discovered that ruin – too bad you got there first. >Nearly perishing to the crumbling city behind you, Dash wanted to rest for a few minutes – get her bearings in order. >After several minutes of suffering through an uphill jog, you found a place to rest. >The view was astonishing; forest and hills stretched as far as the eye could see. >Hues of orange and red brushed across the sky, accompanied by an aurora of illuminated clouds. >Dash scooted next to you, wrapping her arm around your shoulder. >A perfect moment overshadowing the peril encountered moments before. - >Her voice flowed just as smooth in your mind as it did back then. > “Anon?” ”Yeah?” > She paused for precisely three seconds, squeezing you tight. > “That was quite an adventure, huh?” >You cackled with laughter at the obviousness of the question. >Her smile flashed in the corner of your eye. ”Yeah, it was really awesome, Dash!” >She ran her fingers through your short hair as her breath licked the length of your neck. >After a few moments of silence, you turned to face her gaze. >It was of yearning for something you could not quite understand. >A suppression of emotion cast into a single gaze. ”Dash? Why are you staring at me like –“ >in an instant, her lips conjoined to yours, breaking your speech. >Despite the lingering taste of sweat, the delicate ambrosia of her lips lured you closer. >You wrapped your arms around her petite body, tightening the hold. >What felt like hours rolled by, and Dash eventually broke the kiss. >You finally opened your eyes, revealing her blush-ridden face. > “We should probably head back.” >You never spoke of that incident to anyone. >It was a closely guarded secret between you and Dash. -- >Life changed after that. >From the moment you returned home, a peculiar aura hovered around you and Dash. >Spending time with her held more significance, and you treasured each moment. >Days lingered onward, and you spent more time with her. >Until, of course, the anticipated news came clamoring into your ears. >Your mother had finally managed to score a job in the big city – a dream come true. >She was so excited; as was your father, but you knew what moving meant. >And so, your hours of adventuring through the forest ended, passing away with the winds of change. >The new city was hard to adjust to at first, but you managed somehow. >You think the tablets were somewhere up in the attic. >Your relationship with Dash gradually drifted away once you moved. >Dash’s athleticism gained tremendous reputation far quicker than you ever anticipated. >The spirit that once held you both together faded, leaving you to your own labors. >Although you still managed to stay close over the years, the constant flow of your lives battled that connection. >Perhaps a vacation would set everything straight again. >You missed the tight connection with her. ---
