Title: Would You a Changeling? (KILL) Author: HorseFellow Pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/RES8Gsqg First Edit: Thursday 3rd of July 2014 10:20:27 AM CDT Last Edit: Thursday 3rd of July 2014 10:20:27 AM CDT >You've been living in Equestria for quite a while now >Ponies aren't too keen on the idea of a strange, tall (and quite frankly smelly) creature roaming their world >You've not been pushed away, though given the way these horses deal with villains you'd half expected it >You just haven't found much comfort in the presence of ponies >Most of Ponyville was empty today >Not that they weren't coming out of their houses, it was actually empty >Everyone who was anyone was out celebrating or watching the royal wedding >You were indoors, alone >You didn't care too much for some royal wedding, and even then you would be the only human in a crowd of ponies >Not exactly your idea of fun >You heard an almighty crash coming from the top floor >The room above you, your bedroom! "What the fuck?", you question as you put down the newspaper you were reading and rush upstairs >There was a hole in your roof >Granted, it was a straw roof so it wasn't the strongest in the world but... >There was a hole in your roof! >Splinters of wood were scattered across your bedroom >How were you going to fix this? >What could have caused this? >You wondered "if I had insurance" would it cover holes being penetrated in your roof by... >...A pony? >On the opposite side of your bedroom, curled up in a ball, was a unicorn pony >A mare, from the looks of things >It looked unharmed >Did she just fall from the sky? >She wasn't making a noise >She wasn't crying, wasn't moving much but she was breathing >Unconscious, maybe? >You probably would be too if you'd crashed into someone's house >You might as well do your best to take care of them whilst they're here >Making sure that your bed was clean from debris, you picked up the pony and placed her in your bed >A couple of hours passed since the pony crashed into your house >Occasionally, you would go upstairs to see if her condition had changed >That, or you'd switch between reading your newspaper and >If she was unconscious for any longer, it might be worth getting her to the hospital >Though, with everyone else out of town, you're not sure how you'd manage to get her to the hospital all on your own >And you're not sure how it'd look if, on the day where the majority of Ponyville were at a wedding, a pony just happens to show up at your house with injuries rendering her unconscious >You were already on bad terms with the citizens of Ponyville, you didn't want to make it look any worse >The day that you were branded a pony-beater would be the day that they would have enough of you >A noise, the sound of hoof steps on the floorboard above >She was awake >Slowly, as to not frighten the pony, you made your way upstairs and into your room >Stood under the hole in the roof, looking out, was not the same pony you previously saw >Where was the same pony you previously saw? >Instead, stood a black creature >About the same size and shape as the pony you saw earlier >Only unlike a usual pony, this creature had holes that looked as if they had been drilled through it's legs >And a set of four of thin wings that were tattered and torn >What was this? >You slowly made your way further into the room >The creature turned to face you >A flash of green, and it was replaced by the pony you had seen before "What was that?" you asked the pony, a stern tone in your voice >She gulped >"What was... What?" >She was nervous, almost frightened "I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to know what you are?" >"What? I'm a pony, what do you expect?" she said, stumbling over her words >Did she know you'd seen... Her? It? >Her eyes gave her identity away >They were unlike that of a normal pony >There was a green hint behind them, a shimmer around the edges >This was not a normal pony >You had to convince her that you didn't mean any harm >She was clearly afraid, as you walked ever closer to her she backed away into a corner of the room >The green glow around her eyes intensified with every step you took >You weren't going to get anywhere like this >You decide it'd be best to leave her alone for a while and let her come to you on her own terms "If you need anything, I'll be downstairs" you back away to your bedroom door and close it behind you >A flash of green, the same tone as previously, shines under the crack in the door >You think little of it, and make your way back down stairs >You'd hear the hoofsteps of the pony... Or, the creature upstairs every so often >They were pacing around a lot >Yet more signs that this creature was afraid >You weren't sure what to do with them >What was that thing you'd seen before? >In your time here, you hadn't seen much but you'd never seen a pony like that >Was it even a pony? >Your thoughts were interrupted by a very loud, obnoxious humming >...Coming from upstairs >Not like someone humming a tune >But a consistent, loud pattern of humming >It was almost like... A fly? >You quickly rushed upstairs >No, you needed answers not this creature to fly away and leave! >Opening the door, you spotted the same black creature as before >They were hovering in the air >An expression of pain and struggle on their face >They feel to the floor with a thud >You rushed to their side, but it crawled away from you and hid under your bed >Lowering yourself to the ground, you tried to catch sight of the creature "I'm not here to hurt you, I want to help you." >No response >Not even the sound of any movement "Please, you look hurt. Let me help you, I could get you to a hospital-" >"No!" >A harsh, but afraid, voice spoke from under your bed >Another flash of green, and the pony you had seen before made it's way out the other side of your bed >"I don't need your help" >The familiar female voice said, still obviously very worried "You were trying to fly away, yeah?" >You guessed, from the noise that you'd hear and the sight of the creature struggling "Your wings looked damaged, maybe we could get someone to help you." >You knew a pony, one that was really good with magic, they might do something >Or the princesses, they could help >"These kinds of wings aren't easily fixed" >"They're very delicate, and if the injury is sever enough..." >She pasued for a moment, as if they were trying to hold back tears >"I might not ever fly again." >There it was, not fear any more but sorrow >The realisation isn't usually that bad, saying it out loud to someone is >Like when you first arrived here >You had no idea how to get back home, and it didn't hit you hard until you said it out loud "I'm alone" "Will I ever see my family again?" "Will I die here, hated by those around me?" >It kept you awake for many nights >"So please, go away." >You got to your feet once more and left the room >Well, you made some progress at least >It was probably best if you didn't disturb her... It? Again >As terrible as it was, you knew she wasn't going anywhere any time soon without getting past you >Maybe, even if she did leave through the front door, she'd actually talk to you >Some time alone was probably best for now >The day went on, and very little else happened >Which was usually the case for the days that you spent in Equestria >As the last light of the sun shone over the horizon, the moon made it's way high into the sky >You heard noises from the room above you and the springs of your mattress >Presumably, the creature had gone to sleep >In your bed, no less >Looked like you'd be sleeping on the couch tonight then ######################################################### >Morning >And unusually, you weren't woken up by your alarm clock but a thud on the door >You lifted yourself off your couch and walked over to the door, opening it to see whatever it was that made the noise >Oh, it wasn't a pony, it was a newspaper >You were never normally awake early enough to "hear" the newspaper being delivered >You didn't even know the delivery pony threw it at your door >Was it just your door? Some biased against the human? >Maybe you were just being paranoid >You bent over and picked up the newspaper from the ground, taking out the elastic band that kept it rolled up >Unrolling the newspaper you immediately read the first headline >"CHANGELING INVASION INTERRUPT ROYAL WEDDING" >Well, looked like avoiding the wedding was a good idea after all >You walked into your house, closing the door behind you >You continued to read the article as you led down on the couch where you had been sleeping the night before >"...shortly afterwards, an unknown source cast a spell sending the Changeling menace into the distance..." >Well, that sorted that issue >"...the creatures, who can change their form at will, are suspected to have infiltrated Canterlot by taking the guise of the bride to be, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza..." >Wait, change form at will? >"...the authorities are reminding citizens to keep all distance from anyone who may be suspected of being a Changeling and report them immediately..." >Shit. >Did you have a Changeling in your house? >...Whatever a Changeling was >But they were criminals! >If the authorities are looking for them, then you're harbouring a criminal! >Holding the paper in your hand, you rushed up to your bedroom >You were fine with helping an injured creature, but a criminal? You already had a bad enough reputation >You opened the door to the bedroom and threw the newspaper in the direction of the creature in it's black, gnarled form on your bed >It awoke, the newspaper covering their face "You're a Changeling, yes?"   [STORY BECAME KILL THERE, DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.
