>Canterlot during Winter

>Shining Armor woke up early to run a few laps and warm up before the new recruits arrived

>This was going to be the first generation of colts he would get to train as a high rank of the Royal Guard

>He was a bit nervous, and yet confident that, as long as he kept a steady hand on the newbies, everything should turn out fine

>The train arrived right in time, after the steam cleared from the aisles of the station, all the colts descended in three organized rows.

>They were all guided by escorts that already belonged to the ranks, they grinned as they imagined the long journey these young colts had ahead.

>Though the Castles in Canterlot were astonishing, none of them had any time to admire them, they had to keep on moving until they reached the courtyard

>And so they did, eventually.

>Standing in a single line, Shining Armor inspected every single recruit. Much of them were doing penitence, much others were there because their parents forced them to, only a few stood there on their own free will, Shining Armor was looking for those on the last group

>Most of them were shaking, in a terrible mix of cold and fear, others controlled their breathing to preserve calm and warmness

>”Morning new Royal Guards...to be. My name is Shining Armor, captain of the Royal Guard. You will refer to me always as a superior, and address me as ‘Sir’, Do you understand!?”

>”Yes, sir!”

>”...ir”

>Shining noticed one of the recruits barely vocalized his reply

 

>He feared he had already encountered the first troublemaker of the group

>He continued

>”Today is the first day of the rest of your lives, when you all will accomplish something that is beyond you, beyond all of you, beyond all of us”

>Shining Armor moved from left to right, making sure everybody heard what he was saying. He was truly inspired, but he decided that it would be for the best to keep this nice and short. There was much to do today

>”I want to make the best out of you, these next months are going to be though, in these following months I will be your best friend and your worst nightmare, so you better be prepared”

>Shining wasn’t expecting a response, but all of them gave him a “Yes,sir!” anyway, louder than the last one, this wasn’t going to be as bad as...

>There he was again, that same colt being late and quiet

>Shining Armor walked towards the source of this mischievous behavior

>He was not going to tolerate this indiscipline so soon, he needed to show all of them he was up to the task.

>He saw many white colts, it was not a surprise since most of the Royal Guards shared this color

>They all looked ahead without losing their concentration, even with the inquisitive look of their Captain above them

>If this was a joke, they could all give it up for themselves for not accusing the responsible

>Shining Armor laid eyes on something hard to ignore

>As he walked by he noticed one of the recruits in particular

 

>The recruit was shaking to no end, in any other condition, anyone would have offered to help him, thinking it could be a stroke or something

>Shining inclined himself a little, giving particular attention on how much did the long and slender legs of the recruit could tremble

>Shining Armor lifted his head, they finally met face to face

>The first thing Shining Armor noticed was how round and symmetrical was the recruit’s face

>Shining Armor realized the pony was just too...”pretty” to be a colt

>It wasn’t weird, there were stories about mares that, in times of need, made themselves pass as colts to join the ranks, Shining Armor thought this could be the case, to the point that he considered calling him a “she”

>”What’s your name?”

>The yellow pony looked at him and looked at that far away point in the distance everyone was supposed to look at”

>”Are you deaf? I asked for your name!”

>Tears started to well up, Shining predicted a tear rolling down her face as soon as he decided to blink

>”G-golden Brisket,s-sir!”

>She tried to yell, but nerves truly got the best of the golden maned pony

>Shining Armor flinched as he finally heard and confirmed his fears. The voice that came out was kind, high pitched, but with a little something he could not entirely describe

>Golden Brisket was so fragile and beautiful, Shining Armor felt bad about yelling at her. Even so, he had to continue

>”You know we only encourage colts to join the ranks,right ?”

 

>Golden looked at the Captain, unsure if he was being serious, it was only for a second, something on Shining’s face must have convinced her he was dead serious

>”...I.I am a colt,sir”

>Three stallions on the left chuckled, Shining Armor thought immediately on discipline them, but he had to know if she was actually telling the truth

>He walked around Golden Brisket. Golden never moved her head, but she was curious on where was Shining Armor going.

>Soon Shining Armor had a perfect view of Golden’s rear. Her ass looked round, fantastic, it was really impossible she was actually saying the truth

>Golden blushed as she suddenly felt the hot breath of Shining Armor drawing nearer

>Shining Armor took a closer look to Shining Armor...soon, with his head between the golden pony’s rear hooves, he looked up to have a look on what did she had between her legs

>Shining Armor proved very confused that she...he was telling the truth, if it weren’t for those shrinked male genitals.

>”There they are...” said Shining, all the recruits started laughing, all of them but Golden Brisk of course, who was about to faint with embarassment

>”QUIET!” yelled Shining Armor “Do you think this is FUNNY!”

>The recruits became mute all at once

>”THIS recruit right here is going to be training side by side with you, and one day, not far from this one I assure you, your lives might be depending on him”

>Golden Brisket opened his eyes widely, he wanted to sigh, but he felt it would have been inadequate before his savior.

>Shining Armor finished his introduction, he ordered all the recruits to follow a single line into their bedrooms to organize and find their belongings.

>All of them followed the line, all of them looking ahead, with a frowned look

>All of them passed by the captain in silence, except for one...

>Shining Armor could barely hear how one of them said “...thank you” just in the split second he had next to him

>The Captain of the Royal Guard stood confused on the courtyard, pondering on how odd would the next months would be.

 

>The first three days passed so quickly Shining Armor couldn't remember a thing about them

>No, he could remember something, and as a matter of fact, he couldn't do anything but remembering it

>Golden Brisket...the young recruit who he mistakenly took as a girl...

>The days turned colder and colder, Shining Armor tried to keep up the practices outside to build up the character, but as the deceases started to spread, he had to keep the practices indoors.

>The turmoil was terrible, there was nothing but the sweat of several stallions, the intense odor burned his nostrils, made Shining Armor sick.

>With no contact of any man around, and the fresh memory of Golden Brisket in his mind, Shining Armor started to have pretty strange emotions...

>He could feel a tingling sensation in his genitals, sensation that he quickly (and desperately) fought to dismiss.

>The training for the recruits was different depending on the race

>Pegasus were encouraged to train their wings, they were trained to manipulate a spear beneath their feathers

>Unicorns trained day by day, tuning the fierceness of their horns stronger each time, the boulder-lifting exercises made their magic stronger day by day

>As for the earth ponies, they had the toughest training of them all

>With the strength of their back legs alone, they were driven to defend themselves in 1vs1 battles

>Dodging and bucking back was a fundamental part of the training of Earth ponies

>It was now Golden Brisket's turn...

 

>"Brisket,you're up"

>The Golden stallion shivered as he walked on the middle of the arena

>Galloping Hooves, the grey stallion he had to go against, was already wetting his lips in excitement, he must have been waiting for this moment ever since the first day

>Brisket looked pretty out of place in the middle of the whole thing, everyone around knew he was going to take a crash course of masculinity in the following fight

>Shining Armor gave the signal, and the battle begun

>Galloping Hooves moved forward and Golden Brisk moved back

>"Come on pretty girl, I'm not going to hurt you"

>"That is not necessary, Hooves" exclaimed Shining Armor

>it didn't matter how much did Golden walked backwards, his comrades pushed him back into the center when he got too far from his foe

>"I need you to focus Golden, stay closer to the center"

>Golden did his best to obey Shining, as soon as he gave a few steps forward, Galloping gave a swift 180° turn and bucked him right in the face

>Golden moaned in pain, he fell on the ground, shaking in pain, holding his face with one hoof

>"Get up!" ordered Galloping Hooves

>Despite the bone shaking pain that invaded him, Golden Brisk stood up

>A few streams of blood started running down his face

>Some stallions started to cause a riot, trying to encourage Brisk to fight back, Shining ushered these voices, this was no street fight

>Golden and Galloping danced for a minute and a half inside the arena, then Galloping bucked him right in the ribs

 

>The whole show turned a little hard to see, it was pretty obvious to this point that Golden wasn't willing to defend himself

>"Come on, fight me, what the hell are you doing?!"

>Shining wasn't willing to accept any kind of indiscipline, but he had to allow all the noise building around, all the curses and hoarse talking, all directed to Golden, who was nothing but a whinny punching bag

>"Golden, if you keep this attitude, you're are going to sleep outside, I am not going to repeat this" warned Shining

>Golden stood back as good as pain let him, his eyes were already swollen, he couldn't see straight

>"Galloping, don't buck him until he bucks you first"

>The grey stallion grimaced in disgust, but accepted anyway

>Gathering all his strength, Golden rushed towards his opponent and used the momentum to buck Galloping in the face

>Galloping, however reacted fast enough to not only evade his attack, but counter attack on his chest

>"Now it's MY turn"

>With that last devastating blow, Golden fell into the ground. He was encouraged to get up, but he just couldn't

>"Come on, I'm not done with you!"

>Such level of violence was normal for the earth pony newbies, the weaker had to endure this, they just had to, but Shining just couldn't look

>"Come on, get up!" the grey Pony pursued Golden even in the ground, the crowd cheered excited

>Shining had enough

>"Ok, that's it, get away from him"

>The recruits couldn't believe the Captain had stopped the fight just like that

 

>"Yeah, that's enough for today"

>Galloping was the most confused of them all, it didn't took him long to show his frustration

>"B-but yesterday you said--"

>"I know what I said; that a fallen foe deserves no mercy, but this is also your fellow, and in these conditions, he can't fight back"

>Galloping frowned so hard his eyes were about to crack inside his sockets

>"That's absolut--"

>"I don't think you're questioning my commands, I also told all of you to address me as you superior all the time, isn't that right!"

>"Yes..."

>"YES WHAT!?"

>"YES SIR!"

>Golden flinched with all the screaming occurring above him

>He eyed Galloping right into the eyes, he looked long enough to cause the angry grey stallion look elsewhere

>"Good..."

>Shining Armor blowed his whistle and ordered the recruits to run 90 laps, all these thanks to Galloping Hooves

>"What!? But I--"

>Before he could explain himself, he had several ponies bumping him, bludgeoning him, and even some pegasus that flew close and kicked him a bit.

>Shining heard close to his hooves a guttural coughing

>He couldn't believe what was he looking at, he had to let him get away a little bit further to know he wasn't bluffing, that he wasn't just showing up for mercy

>But he wasn't; Golden Brisk literally crawled to the running fields, then stumbling towards them, ready to run

>"Not you, Golden Brisk"

>"Huh?"...

>There was no way he could be of any use on the track anyways

>"No, you will go straight to infirmary"

 

>Golden stood there for a while, he stuttered, knowing that if he took to much to respond, his superior would immediately raise his voice

>"B-b-bbb-but..."

>"No 'but's, you are in no condition of running, come on"

>Golden limped towards the infirmary as fast as he could, Shining Armor aided him, letting him rest a hoof over his neck

>"T-thank you..."

>"Don't thank me, your performance today was terrible"

>Golden looked down, Shining could notice he was actually sad of having disappointed his Captain

>"I'm sorry captain..." muttered Golden, something in his voice moved Shining in the inside

>"D-don't be, apply yourself instead"

>At the distance Galloping could only see this act of kindness with nothing but disdain

>It was him who did everything right, and still, Golden was the one who got a full day off

>As Shining escorted Golden to the infirmary, he soon noticed it was locked

>The gatekeeper was near, Shining asked for the whereabouts of the nurse

>"She went outside, she must wait for the snow storm to end like all of us"

>This was bad, Golden needed treatment, otherwise the wounds would infect quickly

>"It's alright, just give me the key"

>Shining and Golden entered the infirmary. It smelled like cleanliness and Ethyl alcohol.

>"Lay down" ordered Shining Armor

>Golden tried to smile, it was hard because of all the pain he felt, but it wasn't impossible

>"I didn't know you were also a medic Captain"

>"I'm not, but I do have the medic knowledge"

 

>Shining gathered bandages, disinfectant, some tweezers and some cotton too

>"This is going to sting, be brave soldier"

>Before Golden could say "Yes, sir", Shining applied the disinfectant soaked cotton over his sides

>"Ahhhhhh~"

>Shining couldn't believe how erotic that last moan was

>"S-sorry captain,s-sir"

>Golden clinched his lips shut, giving the cue to Shining to proceed

>He was saying "I'll be a brave girl" or so it looked like for Shining, he saw that same face with her sister, he never thought he would find it in a place like this.

>The cotton kept burning his exposed flesh, Golden jumped and contracted a bit, even when he was trying to take it as best as he could, his soft short moaning could still be heard

>Shining did the best he could to ignore it, but at a certain point, he felt a direct connection between the tweezers and Golden's body

>Golden couldn't take it anymore

>Shining snapped out of his trance, he realized he was being deliberately rough with his skin just to provoke a stronger reaction on him

>"S-sorry..."

>"It's fine soldier, w-we are almost done"

>Shining wrapped some bandaged around Golden's chest to relocate and ensure everything was kept on it's place

>"Raise your hooves" ordered Shining, Golden obeyed

>Shining wrapped the bandages around him, he had to get close to the Golden pony to do so

>Shining could smell his hair, he couldn't resist to give him a good sniff, he smelled so good...

 

>Golden shuddered a little, he felt his Captain's snorting directly into his ear

>He jerked involuntarily, Shining retreated a little

>"My apologies"

>"I-it's ok..."

>The bandages were done, just a few bruises in his face and it would be all good

>His eyes wasn't as swollen as they used to, he was going to be ready in no time

>"We are almost done here...tell me about yourself"

>Shining gave small talk a try, to keep the situation a little less awkward

>"W-what do you want to know captain, aww~"

>The disinfectant burned part of his forehead and eyelid, but at least the inflammation was decreasing

>"Well...what's your story?...Are you paying penitence or...

>"No sir, I came here to become a real stallion"

>Shining smirked as he kept working

>"Well, one must assume you are already a stallion if you want to be here in the first place"

>"I understand, is just a promise I made to...nevermind"

>Shining thought on pursuing the topic, but he decided to ask something else.

>"Are you married?"

>"Engaged, she's waiting for me to return"

>"So you made to promise to her huh?"

>"M-more or less...ouch~"

>"There we go..."

>Shining was finished, after adding some bandages on his face, he was pretty much ready to go on

>Shining passed a hoof over the recently treated area, he noticed the delicate anatomy of the recruit's face

>"C-captain?"

>He was doing it again, his hooves were caressing Golden's face too gently to be just a friendly touch

 

>"I'm sorry I-I was...uhm...just checking if the bandages were..."

>"Yeah, no I..."

>"Yes..."

>Golden stood on his own, the pain was still there, but he could at least bear it now

>"Thank you Captain"

>"No need to thank me, just, get back to the dorm rooms, training is over for today"

>"I'm really sorry I failed you today, I-I will keep it up tomorrow, I promise"

>Shining Armor smiled. It was not just the enthusiasm he displayed what made him happy, Shining found himself smiling automatically

>"Well, be dismissed"

>Shining leaned forward towards Golden's face

>Golden didn't reject him, he just paralyzed on the spot, oblivious to what was his Captain trying to do

>Shining realized he wasn't a mare, he almost kissed him goodbye like he would do with a mare

>"I'm...sorry, is just..."

>"...it's alright, I don't mind"

>Golden leaned forward, and before Shining could blink, he planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek

>"I won't fail you Captain!" said Golden as he trotted away the best he could

>Shining stood there, watching him go

>He put the left hoof over his cheek, the kissed one, and tried to gather his thoughts

>He could still feel the moisture gently lingering over his face
