Title: WaW Guide V2 Author: Generic_Storage Pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/BVcJ6yQk First Edit: Wednesday 17th of December 2014 01:41:10 PM CDT Last Edit: Last edit on: Wednesday 17th of December 2014 03:48:35 PM CDT Worlds at War Starter Guide: Version Two   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Worlds at War (shortened as WaW) is an autistic game for autistic people.  In further detail, it's a text based game where you play as the leader of a planet fighting with other players for control of the galaxy. This guide has been written by OP and a veteran player as a supplement to the game guide. After reading it you should start a world and go read the game guide for details, but skip the wiki since it's really outdated.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beginning Planet Choices - Sectors ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Amyntas - Gives you 20% higher income. Bion - Gives you discounts on ships - 15% on cost, and 20% on resources. Cleon - Gives an additional 30% to prospect chance, and a 10% decrease in mine price. Draco - Gives you 15% more research, and a 20% bonus to all spy skills.     Feel free to go with any sector except Cleon; I say this because the bonus falls a bit short in comparison to the other three. Other than that though there's no real wrong answer.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beginning Planet Choices - Economic Systems ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Start as a mixed economy, Free Market (FM) and Central Planning (CP) planets can only trade with their own type or with a mixed econ planet. You'll want to trade with as many players as possible to maximize your growth/income per turn.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beginning Planet Choices - Political Systems ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   In-game description:   Liberal Democracy: A liberal democracy is free and open. The stability of your world will depend almost entirely on how popular you are with the people and will be cheaper to maintain.   Totalitarian Democracy  A totalitarian democracy, while elected, exerts much greater control on the people. Stability will depend less on the people's approval and more on their quality of life.   Single-party Rule: A world under single-party rule will receive random events raising their attributes. Stability will depend equally on the people's perception of you and their quality of life.         Fleet Admiralty: A fleet admiralty world is geared almost entirely towards military endeavours. You will get random events that raise your military attributes. Stability will depend more on quality of life than approval.       Autocracy: An autocracy holds ultimate control over the people. As such you can use forced labour, a free option to raise your growth. Stability will depend almost entirely on the people's quality of life.     Guide Writer description:   Liberal Democracy: cities can be used early game to get max stability within the first few turns. Authoritarian Democracy: a rumor going around claims that being an authoritarian democracy slightly increases the chances if a spy getting caught. Not much else though. One Party State: the random events are alright I guess, but relying on chance for increased approval when you're at max approval isn't really useful. Fleet Admiralty: you get free events that help you occasionally. This is probably the best option for that reason. Autocracy: you get a shitty extra option to increase growth, it's pretty useless compared to the other options.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Current Major Player Groups ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   The Empire: a bunch of veteran members with rich planets that lay around all day.   CSAT: two communist alliances (the CCCP and BAMF) in a supra alliance to spread communism.   The UN: a collection of the most active players in the game. Although not as powerful or rich as the previous two, they're again the most active of the bunch. You'll be able to tell a member by their swastika berets and the fact that most of the forum is a part of it.   FPA: consisting of the Galactic Republic, the Third Commonwealth, and the Planetary Liberation front. They're somewhat active on the forums and one of them has a newspaper.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Minor Powers ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Solaris Novum: A neutral federation with considerable power, and is active in the meta.   Cult of Ebola-chan: a fellow channer alliance with members of multiple boards.   INNAWDS: another channer alliance. Unfortunately, they're pretty dead and not active in the meta it seems.   Stargate Alliance: currently the largest federation in the game (but most of their members are inactive).   Merchant Group LLP: a merchant federation, semi active on the forums.   Dai-Gurren /v/rigade: the 8chan /v/ alliance. Currently small, but rapidly growing.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Final Notes ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Sign up on the forums and join the IRC (#wawgame on Rizon), this is extremely important. Most of the game happens in IRC and the forums will keep you informed on what goes on if you miss anything. There's also a thread on the forums where Heidi gives you money for making a forum account, so post in that for free loot.   I'll be updating this as needed.
