  1. Chapter Four - Hair Today, Gone Today
  2.
  3. >Day three of observing Anonymous
  4. >You are Raingoo Dash
  5. >The once fastest flier, now gooiest pony, in Ponyville.
  6. >Things have bene a little rough lately, aside from being turned into a sentient semi-solid.
  7. >You've begun to notice things, like the interest that other mares, even your friends, take in the human.
  8. >It's really getting under your skin.
  9. >Er... permeable membrane.
  10. >Now, you're not entirely innocent either, you've done a few things to Rarity, Pinkie and Twilight that you're not proud of, but some one has to do something!
  11. >Maybe Anonymous will understand... some day.
  12. >For the time being, you're bunked with Twilight at the library.
  13. >You’ve become accustomed to the plastic pen that Twilight has cornered off for you.
  14. >After she deactivated the charge that would keep you in place, of course.
  15. >It’s a rather enjoyable sensation, sleeping piled up on top of yourself, providing a gentle pressure that, while it doesn’t replace Anonymous, certainly makes you feel a little more at ease.
  16. >There is one problem though.
  17. >“Time to wake up!”
  18. >Your roommate could be a little better.
  19. >Your box shudders as Twilight gives it a violent shake before spilling you out onto the floor.
  20. >Despite lacking an inner ear, it takes a few seconds to orient yourself before shifting from a puddle on the ground into a semi-solid state.
  21. >The purple unicorn greets your bleary-eyed expression with a smile.
  22. >“Good morning, Rainbow Dash.  There’s a lot to do, and not much time to do it!”
  23. “Buh?”
  24. >Way to be articulate Rainbow…
  25. >Twilight reaches out and pulls on your gooey body with one of her hooves.
  26. >“Come on, come on!  I had an idea last night and I’ve been waiting for hours to try it out!”
  27. >Her infectious nature manages to rouse you from your sense of apathy and you slide along the floor behind the overeager unicorn.
  28. >Dragging you into the laboratory beneath the library, Twilight hurriedly ushers you onto a stool.
  29. >As your friend rushes about, you watch her with only a slight interest.
  30. >Science was never your thing, but if it makes her happy…
  31. >Color drains from your face as you spot Twilight levitating some half-folded tissues onto the table beside you.
  32. “Wh-what’s that?”
  33. >Engrossed in her preparations, Twilight responds flatly.
  34. >“The sample Anonymous left behind.  The rainbow ejaculate?”
  35. >You were afraid of that.
  36. >Recoiling, you make a disgusted face and curl your lip.
  37. “Ew!  You saved that?  Why?”
  38. >Somehow, your disapproval manages to break her concentration, and Twilight fixes you with a perplexed stare.
  39. >“You said you wanted to know why mares act strangely around Anonymous, right?”
  40. “Well, yeah but…”
  41. >“There are a number of tests that I can run on his bodily fluids that might give us a clue, that’s what this is for.  Now, I need a sample from you.”
  42. >Seeing your confused expression, Twilight sighs and levitates a petri dish in front of you.
  43. >“You said that you sent a portion of yourself to watch Anonymous while he was working with Pinkie Pie.  I’ve done what I can to preserve the sample, but if I want to discern the differences between Anonymous sample and what you tainted him with, I need a sample from you.”
  44. “O…kay…”
  45. >That doesn’t make any sense at all, but then again Twilight’s the brainiac, not you.
  46. >Holding out your leg, you focus on maintaining your physical form, save for the bottom of your hoof.
  47. >Nothing happens.
  48. >Contorting your face into a scowl, you squint your eyes and attempt to will your hoof to stop being solid.
  49. >Your leg shudders a few times before it falls apart, leaving you hobbled.
  50. >It only takes a second for you to regrow the lost limb, but the damage is done.
  51. >If Twilight wanted a sample, she certainly got it as you see the petri dish is overflowing with sky blue ooze.
  52. >Much of the table is covered in the same, the goo dripping onto the floor as it runs out of flat tabletop.
  53. “Well, that was easy!”
  54. >You glance up at Twilight.
  55. >Your cheeks puff out as you try to hold back your laughter.
  56. >The purple unicorn doesn’t look nearly as amused, covered in leg slime that’s running down from her horn all the way off the end of her muzzle.
  57. “W-whoops, my bad.”
  58. >Deciding it’s a losing battle, you allow yourself to chuckle as you make an effort to wipe Twilight’s face clean, sucking up your former limb as you go.
  59. >The action leaves the scowling Twilight a goo-free zone, but still with a few slime trails across her face.
  60. >You burst into another fit of laughter as the unicorn sighs and rubs herself down with a towel.
  61. >“Well, I’ve got what I need for the time being.  I’ve got another assignment for you, it involves getting close to Anonymous.”
  62. >Oh man, oh man!
  63. >The chance to stop watching him from afar and getting up close and personal with your special somepony!
  64. >This is exactly what you’ve been waiting for!
  65. >Snapping a quick salute, you give a firm nod in Twilight’s direction.
  66. “Lay it on me, I’m ready for anything.”
  67. >Twilight takes a deep breath and closes her eyes.
  68. >“I need you to get a few things.  Samples.”
  69. >Samples?
  70. >You shoot a questioning look to the tissues.
  71. “Like, those samples?”
  72. >Red rushes to Twilight’s face, turning her muzzle an even deeper purple as she shakes her head violently.
  73. >“Wh-what?  No!  No, this should be more than enough.  But, hair samples, skin samples, things like that.”
  74. “So, I just sneak into the house and get those?  Sounds tricky.”
  75. >You crack a small smile, and that’s when Twilight decides to dash your hopes by shoving a small plastic box in your direction.
  76. >“Not at all.  The samples I need are dead skin cells and from what I’ve gathered about Anonymous, there’s one place where we can get more than enough every day.”
  77. “Huh?”
  78. >Twilight grins.
  79. >“The shower.”
  80. >
  81. >You cross town unseen, as per usual.
  82. >There are some real perks to being formless, one of which is the ability to turn into a liquid any time you want and simply coast through the drainage trails that surround the town.
  83. >Sometimes you pass through some really gross stuff, clumps of Celestia knows what, but you can expel it from your gooey body with relative ease, so you don’t mind too much.
  84. >The trip to Anonymous’ house takes all of ten minutes and when you arrive, you can hear the water running already.
  85. >Twilight was right, Anonymous had a morning routine, and he liked to stick to it.
  86. >The plan is relatively simple, find a way under the house then locate the pipe that’s taking water away from the house.
  87. >From there, it’s simply a matter of unhooking a section of piping and gathering the necessary samples for Twilight.
  88. >Still, what you wouldn’t give for a few minutes, even a few seconds with a naked Anonymous…
  89. >Snap out of it, Rainbow!
  90. >You’ve got a job to do!
  91. >A quick exploration of the perimeter reveals that a section of the siding is missing, allowing you direct access underneath the house.
  92. >You’ll really need to talk to Anonymous about upkeep if he wants to avoid rodent infestation.
  93. >The underside of the house is dark and dreary, with only a scant amount of light seeping in through the foundation.
  94. >As you shuffle along the ground, you hear the faint sound of water running in the distance.
  95. >You allow yourself a smile as you realize it’s coming from the bathroom.
  96. “This is too easy.”
  97. >As you round the corner and prepare to take the sample, you freeze.
  98. >There’s a single shaft of artificial light that beams down from a hole in the floor, casting a long shadow across the ground as it illuminates a cream color pony with a pink mane.
  99. >The steady gush of water splashing against the ground helps to muffle the quiet sounds that your friend Fluttershy is making as she stands underneath the torrent of water from Anonymous’ shower.
  100. >“Oh.  Oh my.  Oh goodness.”
  101. >Fluttershy sighs, tossing her soaking wet mane back as she tilts her head up and lets the bathwater run over her face, a silly smile plastered on her lips.
  102. >“Oh, that’s wonderful… more, please.”
  103. >Your mind finally snaps out of its daze, and you rush onto the offensive.
  104. “F-F-Fluttershy?”
  105. >Real convincing, Rainbow.
  106. >It’s enough to stop the pegasus from gargling bathwater though.
  107. >She looks at you with wide eyes from in between the plastered pink strands on her face.
  108. >“Rain…bow Dash?”
  109. >Fluttershy’s cheeks color as her eyes seem to bulge even larger, a quiet squeak escaping her lips as she rushes by you and makes her escape.
  110. >Still stunned by what you’ve seen, you don’t make any effort to stop the fleeing pegasus.
  111. >With a shake of your head, you spare a glance back, but Fluttershy is long gone.
  112. “I wonder how Twilight reversed the Floam spell, but still hasn't figured out mine?  I’ll have to ask her about that later.”
  113. >And you'd have to ask Fluttershy what exactly she was doing, soaking up your special somepony's bathwater.
  114. >But those are questions for another time.
  115. >Squelching forward, you hold the plastic tub up to the falling water, filling the plastic box to the brim before pulling it away.
  116. >You eye the self-sealing box for a moment.
  117. >Setting it against the ground, you allow yourself a brief respite to let the water wash over you, seeping in through your pores.
  118. >The sensation is amazing, so distinctly Anonymous, as if he were actually inside of you.
  119. >His touch, his taste, everything that makes him who he is, thoroughly diluted by the water, but made whole within your body.
  120. >You shudder as you begin to feel your limbs bloat.
  121. >Your body is telling, no, screaming at you to hold onto this part of him, but you know that you have to take care of business first.
  122. “I’ll be back soon… Anon.”
  123. >Purging the water from your body, you reach up and secure a clump of hair that been caught in the pipe.
  124. >You drop it in the box and flip the lid closed making sure that the magic seal is firmly in place, before taking it into yourself and making good your escape.
  125. >
  126. >You don’t have any trouble getting back to Twilight’s.
  127. >All told, you were gone for maybe an hour, so you fully expect the unicorn to be twitching with anticipation as she awaits your return.
  128. >Pushing open the door, you hold out the box like a returning champion.
  129. “Hey, Twi, I got the samples you wanted!”
  130. >Nothing.
  131. >You glance around the main floor of the library but don’t see a single sign of Twilight.
  132. >Maybe she found something interesting in the sample she already had?
  133. >You make your way down into the basement.
  134. >As you descend, there’s a constant string of muttering coming from a far corner.
  135. >Despite straining your ears, it’s impossible to make out from behind the wall.
  136. >Setting down on the landing, you glance around and see Twilight hunched over, her horn aglow as she focuses on her work.
  137. >“Not quite enough…”
  138. >A glass floats to the side of her face, and Twilight takes a long draught from it, giving a satisfied sigh afterwards.
  139. >You choose that moment to make your presence known, calling out to her again
  140. “Hey, Twi.”
  141. >Twilight turns and finally notices you, a large smile spreading across her face.
  142. >“Rainbow!  I was wondering when you would get back.”
  143. >You place on a strained smile, noting the off kilter lilt in the unicorn’s voice.
  144. “Well, it was pretty easy to pull off with your plan.  Find anything interesting?”
  145. >“Oh, yes, real interesting, but, this is important…”
  146. >Twilight quickly hops off her stool and rushes you.
  147. >Her eyes are wide, and the lips surrounding her wide, toothy grin are noticeably stained with a seven-color rainbow.
  148. >“Did you get what I asked?”
  149. >Holding out the box, you feel it wrenched for your grasp, even as you try to get a closer look at your friend.
  150. “Yeah… hey, Twi?  What’s up with your face?”
  151. >The giddy Twilight freezes in her examination of her loot.
  152. >Her smile stretches wider, even as she hisses through her teeth.
  153. >“Wh-what do you mean?”
  154. “You got, something on your mouth.”
  155. >Dabbing at her face, the unicorn laughs a little, noting the mess on the bottom of her hoof as she looks down at it.
  156. >“So I do.”
  157. >Silence.
  158. >Then, Twilight breaks, a manic smile stretching back across her face as she explains.
  159. “Well, it all started when I started examining the sample you gave me.  I placed it side by side with Anonymous’ sample, and…”
  160. >She laughs.
  161. >“They reacted.  Anonymous’ sample devoured yours, and it became active.”
  162. >Your face scrunches up as you raise an eyebrow.
  163. “What do you mean, ‘active’?”
  164. >“The sperm, they should be dead, but when the samples interacted, it’s like they came out of stasis and began moving again.  Naturally, I tried it on a larger scale, to see if the result would be the same, and before I knew it, I had reactivated the entire sample!”
  165. “Twilight, that doesn’t explain…”
  166. >The unicorn hums a little to interrupt you, wiping her hoof against her mouth again in an attempt to lift the stain, but only succeeds in further spreading it around.
  167. >Her tongue darts out in an attempt to clean herself, and you feel your non-existent stomach drop.
  168. “You… you didn’t…. drink the sample, did you?”
  169. >Twilight’s eyes flit from side to side before she fires back.
  170. >“I don’t know why I did it!  It was like he was in the room with me again and I couldn’t stop myself.  Just being that close to him was…”
  171. >Shuddering, the pony closes her eyes and smiles.
  172. >“Heavenly…”
  173. “O…kay… if the weird train has left the station, I think I’m going to head on out too.  Just, give me the box and you can go back to your experiments.”
  174. >“No!”
  175. >Clutching the plastic case close to her chest, Twilight looks at you with wild eyes.
  176. >“I need these samples!  For science!”
  177. >Lifting your hooves, you squelch closer.
  178. “Twi… you’re not in your right mind…”
  179. >“I’m perfectly fine!  Just, I need you to do something for me.  I need another ejaculate sample.”
  180. >You recoil and sneer.
  181. “What?  Ew!  Twilight, listen to what you’re saying!  I’m not going to give you another sample from my special somepony!”
  182. >The unicorn nods sadly and then flashes her teeth.
  183. >“Well, that’s fine.  Because I know someone who will.”
  184. “What?  Who…”
  185. >There’s a brilliant flash of light.
  186. >When your vision clears, Twilight and the samples are gone.
  187. “Dang.”
  188. >You scowl at the ground, pondering your next move.
  189. >While Twilight may have gone off the deep end, she had the right idea at first.
  190. >Anonymous needs to have eyes on him as often as possible.
  191. >Considering that Fluttershy was already trying to move in on your man, it might be best to take up residence underneath the house, just to make sure that there’s no other ponies trying to get cozy with him.
  192. “I guess I can figure the rest of it out on the fly.”
  193. >Shrugging, you make your way back across town.
  194. >It’ll be uncomfortable, certainly, but chances are you’ll feel better just by being closer to Anonymous.
  195. >You hope.
  196. >
  197. >
  198. >
  199. >Across town, trouble is afoot.
  200. >“There we are my little darling.”
  201. >Fluttershy coos and reaches out to stroke the chipmunk as it eats from the bowl she placed out.
  202. >It’s nose wriggles a few times as her hoof approaches, and then it bolts back up to the tree.
  203. >With a gentle scowl, Fluttershy scuffs her hoof against the ground.
  204. >“Fiddlesticks.”
  205. >Allowing herself a soft sigh, the cream colored pegasus moves back to her home, wondering what exactly went wrong.
  206. >Pushing the door open, a cool voice causes her to pause.
  207. >“Hello, Fluttershy.”
  208. >The pegasus’ eyes dance about the room, finally settling on a body in the far corner.
  209. >Her eyes light up immediately as she recognizes the purple unicorn.
  210. >“Oh, Twilight!  What a surprise!  What brings you out this far?”
  211. >Grinning, the horned pony pulls out the sample box and places it on the floor of the cottage.
  212. >“I need your help…”
