  1. >The sounds of running feet, hooves and laughter fill the house.
  2. >You sit at the computer screen and stare at the blank page before you
  3. >It’s not going to write itself
  4. >You put your fingers to the keyboard and start typing
  5. >’It has been roughly ten years since the day the Ponies came to Earth.’
  6. >’Two years after their arrival they finally announced the truth to the rest of the world.’
  7. >’Some of the population was outraged for being lied to for so long.’
  8. >’They often wondered why the ponies hadn’t come out and told us outright.’
  9. >’The ponies said that they had their reasons.’
  10. >’Most of the population though looked upon the ponies with sympathy.’
  11. >’An entire civilization that had lost their home to a climatic event.’
  12. >’Although by the end of it nothing had really changed.’
  13. >’It was soon after that announcement that we also discovered something new about ourselves.’
  14. >’It was a shock that it wasn’t discovered before then, but most people contend that it needed time to sink in.’
  15. >’The day the ponies came to Earth, magic also came with them…’
  16. >’They say that only a third of the humans will develop some kind of magical ability.’
  17. >’But it just goes to further show how the ponies have changed out world.’
  18. >’Mostly for the better.’
  19. >’Things are a lot more, friendlier.’
  20. >’Sure there are still disagreements, but for the most part the world is a nicer place.’
  21. >’Maybe what the ponies day is true.’
  22. >’Friendship is Magic’
  23. >’You are probably wondering about me and Rose’
  24. >’Shortly after the wedding we sold my apartment in the city and moved out into the country.’
  25. >’We found a tiny pony community and settled in there.’
  26. >’Why a pony community?’
  27. >’Well at the time, our marriage wasn’t exactly “legal” by human law.’
  28. >’The ponies on the other hand were rather accepting of our marriage.’
  29. >’It would be several years until interspecies marriages would be viewed as equal.’
  30. >’But I think it was better that we moved where we did anyways.’
  31. >’It allowed me and Rose to fulfill our dreams.’
  32. >’It allowed Rose to start her garden again.’
  33. >’She spends almost all of her free time there, singing to her flowers.’
  34. >’When I’m not managing the business I often join her.’
  35. >’I am not much of a gardener myself, but I love to listen to her sing.’
  36. >’Almost forgot about the business.’
  37. >’I finally figured out what would be perfect for me and Rose.’
  38. >’When we moved to this community we bought and empty store front and set up a floral shop.’
  39. >’Most of the ponies who live here come and order flowers mainly for food though.’
  40. >’But, like us, there are a few humans that come in and will by the flowers for decoration.’
  41. >’Rose grows our entire product line that we sell in her garden.’
  42. >’And I get to enjoy running a business, like I have always dreamed.’
  43. >Before you start on the next sentence the sounds of hooves and feet our right outside of your door way.
  44. >In burst a tiny filly being chased by a little boy.
  45. >They run around your office a bit before the filly jumps into your lap
  46. “Daddy! Protect me!”
  47. “No fair, you can’t have outside help!”
  48. >You laugh a bit and put the filly back on the ground.
  49. >”James, Marigold you both know you shouldn’t be running around the house like that.”
  50. >They both look up at you will disappointment and answer in unison
  51. “Sorry Dad.”
  52. >”Its ok, go outside and play, just don’t leave the yard.”
  53. >Before you know it James chasing Marigold out of the room and outside into the yard.
  54. >You chuckle to yourself and turn back to your computer
  55. >Now where were you…?
  56. >’I suppose you are wondering about kids…’
  57. >’About two years of being together me and Rose had given up on children.’
  58. >’We figured that it was a long shot that two different species would be able to have kids anyways.’
  59. >’That was until one day Rose started complaining about cramps’
  60. >’She had been fighting a flu for about a week so we figured that it might be part of that.’
  61. >’When the cramps didn’t go away we got worried and we decided to visit the doctor.’
  62. >’He came back with amazing news.’
  63. >’She was pregnant.’
  64. >’We both couldn’t believe it.’
  65. >’I honestly still don’t understand it until this day how it happened.’
  66. >’A few months down the road Rose gave birth to our son, James.”
  67. >’I was kind of surprised that James was human.’
  68. >’But by then news was reaching us that other cross species relationships were having children.’
  69. >’Both humans and foals.’
  70. >’I made promise to Rose that we would try again for a foal.’
  71. >’Two years later I delivered on that promise.’
  72. >’Our daughter Marigold was born.’
  73. >’I was surprised when Rose insisted on the name.’
  74. >’But, I suppose it was for the best.’
  75. >’Marigolds were my mother’s favorite flower.’
  76. >’My mom and dad…’
  77. >’My father never did come around to the idea of me and Rose together.’
  78. >’Took his beliefs with him to the grave.’
  79. >’I guess there is something to be said about a man who will stick by his beliefs.’
  80. >’He was a stubborn man.’
  81. >’My mother slowly accepted both of us.’
  82. >’After my father’s death she made regular visits to our home, her and Katy both.’
  83. >’She got to meet both of her grandchildren before her passing.’
  84. >’Oh god how I wish she was still here…’
  85. >’My sister eventually cleaned up her act.’
  86. >’Got a community college degree.’
  87. >’She works as a graphic design artist for some kind of company.’
  88. >’The last time we talked she said she was dating a pony herself.’
  89. >’A regular horsefucker family it seems.’
  90. >You lean back in your chair and look out the window
  91. >You kids are playing with Rob and Lyra’s son.
  92. >You almost forgot
  93. >’Rob and Lyra eventually got married and moved to the same town we did.’
  94. >’Even with his college degree Rob got himself a job as a farm hand at the local apple farm.’
  95. >’Lyra found herself performing in a local band.’
  96. >’I didn’t even know she had musical talent.’
  97. >’Must have been what the lyre means.’
  98. >’Anyways they had a son, Philip.’
  99. >’Lyra seemed perfectly fine with just having a human son.’
  100. >’She was weird like that.’
  101. >’Obsessed with humans from what Rose told me.’
  102. >You hear the subtle sound of hoof steps behind you
  103. >You know who’s there but you just like to give her the surprise that she wants
  104. >You feel to hooves wrap round your neck from behind and her head rest on your shoulder
  105. >You smile as the smell of roses fills the air around you.”
  106. >”Hello sweetie, how are you?”
  107. >She nuzzles the side of you face
  108. ”Doing well, just got finished in the garden; what are you writing?”
  109. >”The story of our lives. I’m almost finished.”
  110. “When you’re done come help me set up for lunch.”
  111. >You turn your neck and she turns to face you
  112. >You give her a kiss
  113. >”I’ll be right there. Love you.”
  114. >She smiles
  115. >”Love you too.”
  116. >She leaves the room, leaving her scent still on your shoulder
  117. >Oh Celestia how you love that mare.
  118. >You turn back to your writing.
  119. >’That about covers the last ten years, but that isn’t the end of it’
  120. >’I’m sure there are more stories that lie ahead for both of us.’
  121. >’But for now, dear reader, this is the end.’
  122. >You copy down what you have written a post it to the board
  123. >The message ‘Post successful’ flashes on your screen.
  124. >You get up and exit the room to go help your love.
  125. >It feels like your life is just beginning…
