- >The sounds of running feet, hooves and laughter fill the house.
- >You sit at the computer screen and stare at the blank page before you
- >It’s not going to write itself
- >You put your fingers to the keyboard and start typing
- >’It has been roughly ten years since the day the Ponies came to Earth.’
- >’Two years after their arrival they finally announced the truth to the rest of the world.’
- >’Some of the population was outraged for being lied to for so long.’
- >’They often wondered why the ponies hadn’t come out and told us outright.’
- >’The ponies said that they had their reasons.’
- >’Most of the population though looked upon the ponies with sympathy.’
- >’An entire civilization that had lost their home to a climatic event.’
- >’Although by the end of it nothing had really changed.’
- >’It was soon after that announcement that we also discovered something new about ourselves.’
- >’It was a shock that it wasn’t discovered before then, but most people contend that it needed time to sink in.’
- >’The day the ponies came to Earth, magic also came with them…’
- >’They say that only a third of the humans will develop some kind of magical ability.’
- >’But it just goes to further show how the ponies have changed out world.’
- >’Mostly for the better.’
- >’Things are a lot more, friendlier.’
- >’Sure there are still disagreements, but for the most part the world is a nicer place.’
- >’Maybe what the ponies day is true.’
- >’Friendship is Magic’
- >’You are probably wondering about me and Rose’
- >’Shortly after the wedding we sold my apartment in the city and moved out into the country.’
- >’We found a tiny pony community and settled in there.’
- >’Why a pony community?’
- >’Well at the time, our marriage wasn’t exactly “legal” by human law.’
- >’The ponies on the other hand were rather accepting of our marriage.’
- >’It would be several years until interspecies marriages would be viewed as equal.’
- >’But I think it was better that we moved where we did anyways.’
- >’It allowed me and Rose to fulfill our dreams.’
- >’It allowed Rose to start her garden again.’
- >’She spends almost all of her free time there, singing to her flowers.’
- >’When I’m not managing the business I often join her.’
- >’I am not much of a gardener myself, but I love to listen to her sing.’
- >’Almost forgot about the business.’
- >’I finally figured out what would be perfect for me and Rose.’
- >’When we moved to this community we bought and empty store front and set up a floral shop.’
- >’Most of the ponies who live here come and order flowers mainly for food though.’
- >’But, like us, there are a few humans that come in and will by the flowers for decoration.’
- >’Rose grows our entire product line that we sell in her garden.’
- >’And I get to enjoy running a business, like I have always dreamed.’
- >Before you start on the next sentence the sounds of hooves and feet our right outside of your door way.
- >In burst a tiny filly being chased by a little boy.
- >They run around your office a bit before the filly jumps into your lap
- “Daddy! Protect me!”
- “No fair, you can’t have outside help!”
- >You laugh a bit and put the filly back on the ground.
- >”James, Marigold you both know you shouldn’t be running around the house like that.”
- >They both look up at you will disappointment and answer in unison
- “Sorry Dad.”
- >”Its ok, go outside and play, just don’t leave the yard.”
- >Before you know it James chasing Marigold out of the room and outside into the yard.
- >You chuckle to yourself and turn back to your computer
- >Now where were you…?
- >’I suppose you are wondering about kids…’
- >’About two years of being together me and Rose had given up on children.’
- >’We figured that it was a long shot that two different species would be able to have kids anyways.’
- >’That was until one day Rose started complaining about cramps’
- >’She had been fighting a flu for about a week so we figured that it might be part of that.’
- >’When the cramps didn’t go away we got worried and we decided to visit the doctor.’
- >’He came back with amazing news.’
- >’She was pregnant.’
- >’We both couldn’t believe it.’
- >’I honestly still don’t understand it until this day how it happened.’
- >’A few months down the road Rose gave birth to our son, James.”
- >’I was kind of surprised that James was human.’
- >’But by then news was reaching us that other cross species relationships were having children.’
- >’Both humans and foals.’
- >’I made promise to Rose that we would try again for a foal.’
- >’Two years later I delivered on that promise.’
- >’Our daughter Marigold was born.’
- >’I was surprised when Rose insisted on the name.’
- >’But, I suppose it was for the best.’
- >’Marigolds were my mother’s favorite flower.’
- >’My mom and dad…’
- >’My father never did come around to the idea of me and Rose together.’
- >’Took his beliefs with him to the grave.’
- >’I guess there is something to be said about a man who will stick by his beliefs.’
- >’He was a stubborn man.’
- >’My mother slowly accepted both of us.’
- >’After my father’s death she made regular visits to our home, her and Katy both.’
- >’She got to meet both of her grandchildren before her passing.’
- >’Oh god how I wish she was still here…’
- >’My sister eventually cleaned up her act.’
- >’Got a community college degree.’
- >’She works as a graphic design artist for some kind of company.’
- >’The last time we talked she said she was dating a pony herself.’
- >’A regular horsefucker family it seems.’
- >You lean back in your chair and look out the window
- >You kids are playing with Rob and Lyra’s son.
- >You almost forgot
- >’Rob and Lyra eventually got married and moved to the same town we did.’
- >’Even with his college degree Rob got himself a job as a farm hand at the local apple farm.’
- >’Lyra found herself performing in a local band.’
- >’I didn’t even know she had musical talent.’
- >’Must have been what the lyre means.’
- >’Anyways they had a son, Philip.’
- >’Lyra seemed perfectly fine with just having a human son.’
- >’She was weird like that.’
- >’Obsessed with humans from what Rose told me.’
- >You hear the subtle sound of hoof steps behind you
- >You know who’s there but you just like to give her the surprise that she wants
- >You feel to hooves wrap round your neck from behind and her head rest on your shoulder
- >You smile as the smell of roses fills the air around you.”
- >”Hello sweetie, how are you?”
- >She nuzzles the side of you face
- ”Doing well, just got finished in the garden; what are you writing?”
- >”The story of our lives. I’m almost finished.”
- “When you’re done come help me set up for lunch.”
- >You turn your neck and she turns to face you
- >You give her a kiss
- >”I’ll be right there. Love you.”
- >She smiles
- >”Love you too.”
- >She leaves the room, leaving her scent still on your shoulder
- >Oh Celestia how you love that mare.
- >You turn back to your writing.
- >’That about covers the last ten years, but that isn’t the end of it’
- >’I’m sure there are more stories that lie ahead for both of us.’
- >’But for now, dear reader, this is the end.’
- >You copy down what you have written a post it to the board
- >The message ‘Post successful’ flashes on your screen.
- >You get up and exit the room to go help your love.
- >It feels like your life is just beginning…
