Title: Brew of Tears Author: FluffyHarbinger Pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/BN6B32ti First Edit: Saturday 25th of August 2012 06:53:42 PM CDT Last Edit: Saturday 25th of August 2012 06:53:42 PM CDT Brew of Tears > In a familiar meadow dry and parched by drought stands an old tree > This has been one of the worst droughts in recent memory > Tough yellow grass sprouts up defiantly from hard caked earth > The cicadas howl through the blistering heat > Fluffies cry during this awful weather > Many fluffies have met their end at the hands of heatstroke > The playful and happy fillies and colts were the main casualties > Foals during this time are small > Weak from lack of milk > Mothers have had very little water to drink > The gray fluff have reached their limit > The "hawt bwight" has to go > With no other options the gray fluff turn to their last resort > "Fwuffy wawa fow sky wawa" > The oldest fluffy, a once pure white pegasus, is chosen > She has lived for over six years > Extraordinarily long for a fluffy > As she walks towards the dry river bed spotted with contaminated puddles the herd follows > Her weggies are weak, and she practically crawls there > Each step causes her thin gray/white fluff to float wispily in the air > Were it not for her hooves beneath her she would appear to be floating like a ghost > Tired light blue eyes stare at nothing in particular as marches to fulfill her duty > The sky ball did not like the berries, it didn't like the flowers, it didn't like the words they spoke > Gray fluff had failed > It was up to them to make it better > Behind her the once blue and red unicorn drags a leaf filled with silly berries > "Whew owdestest mummah gowin?" > A young white and yellow pegasus asks to her mother > "Owdest mummah gotta make sky happeh, ow nuu wawa come fow fwuffies..." > The foal looks confused > She was born, raised, and now weaned all without seeing rain > "Wha? Sky nuu wawa, sky hawt, bad fow fwuffes, wiffow haff yikkie wawa..." > The green algae tainted puddles before the herd are undrinkable > This herd has gone two days without any water whatsoever > Unwilling to risk sickness after a young stallion decided to try and drink and didn't survive > If they hadn't been sleeping nearly that whole time even more would have died from thirst > "Gway pointeh... gway wigie is weady..." > These fluffies have long since forgotten their original names > Gray wing has lived long enough, and it's time to help the herd > Her oldest friend Gray point gives her the berries > Slowly the old pegasus eats the whole pile > Were it not for her built up immunity she would die within the minute > Despite this she still gets sick > Years of consuming silly berries leave her weaker than normal > Her body is numb and the ritual begins > "Gway winhgie *hic* iss..is weaahdyyyyy oooo..." > The gray pegasus lays on her back facing the sun > "Ouuhouuu weggies suu hiiiiighhhh heahheahheah..." > She wiggles her legs above her happily babbling > Now unaware of what is happening > Point and his fellow gray earth fluff set about their grim task > With a sharp rock they found in the river the two fluffies jam the stone into her stomach > "EAhagghhhh! Huuuwwaaaa dat? Whaaa happen? Feeewww funnehhh.... in fuh..neahhhh.. pwace..." > The numbness doesn't completely remove the pain > But, she can't tell where she is hurt > "Fwiends... hewp fwuffy... fuahhfee enuu.. nuu wan diee.... hewp.." > The once willing fluff has a change of heart, but it is already too late for her > The two males aren't done yet as they draw the rock down her belly and remove it > With great effort and with the terrified gasps of onlookers the two grays use their teeth to widen the hole > Pulling on each side of the wound they rip the fragile elderly skin from ribcage to teat > "GHhaaauu! GAUuugahauuuu! ahhh! HAaaauuu! HEewp! Nuu! Aga! Nuu wan huwteahhggg..." > Blood has begun flowing from her mouth > the fluffies then reach their faces into her guts and begin to tear out her intestines > The organs trail in two directions draping down her sides > "AAAAAAAAAH!" > Several onlookers who have never seen the ritual begin screaming > Fillies, colts, foals, and young adults all cry and scream for their oldest mother > "Nuu! Owd mummah! Gway mummah! Why huwt?! Why nuu hug? Mummah nee hewp!" > Older adults hold back their children as the gray fluffies continue their task > Then the pegasus stops fighting and simply whimpers > "pwease... hewp... huwt... nuu feww pwitteh... suu hawt..." > The sun bears down on the exposed organs and skin > She'll live for a while yet > Placing several red berries in her body the gray are finished and step back > Their front legs and faces drenched with blood > "SKY! WISSEN SKY! BOOBOOJUICE FOW SKY! FWUFFY GIFF MOWST IMPOWTANT WAWA! GIFF AWW WAWA! SKY GIFF SOME WAWA FOW HEWD!" > The gray fluffies all shout at the sky for water > Save the eviscerated pegasus still twitching and breathing shallow on the river bed > "SKY TAKE NUMMIES! NEE NUMMIES FOW WAWA! HAFF SADDIES FOW FWUFFIE! FWUFFY SADDIES CUZ' NUU WAWA!" > Then a crow descends on the corpse taking berries and bites of flesh > "Hewd! Saddies biwdies hewe to take nummies tuu sky! Wun to twee! Nuu wan saddies tuu!" > Fleeing from the begging elder the fluffies watch from a safe distance > Soon over a dozen crows are eating from the still breathing fluffy > Then the fluffies see the biggest scariest bird they've ever seen > A vulture swoops down and forces the crows away > "Hewd! Sky heaw fwuffies! Biwdies take nummies tuu sky! Sky cwy fow fwuffies soon! Haff wawa fow fwuffies!" > The herd waits anxiously, too afraid and mesmerized by the spectacle to look away > Many are trembling with fear and cry wet sloppy tears for their oldest mother > "Nyouuu, owdest mummah... why huwties... why wongest sweepies... wan hug nuu can..." > Bit by bit the pegasus is torn to pieces until nothing remains save a flimsy skeleton which falls to pieces > The herd cries hard, their final prayers left unanswered by the meanie sky > A friend sacrificed to try and keep the herd alive to no avail > Then as the sun starts to set the black kitty monster's tail begins to flick rapidly > He also tried to get a piece of the fluffy body before the vulture scared him off > Now sprinting he returns to his hollow, igniting cries of "nuu huwt!" from the terrified youth > Almost as if on cue the sky thunders in the distance > Fluffies notice over the clearing gray clouds aproaching > "Mummah! Owdest Mummah comin back! Owd mummah FWYIN! Fankoo owd mummah! Wuv ouu owd mummah! Waaaahh!" > The onlookers cheer and cry as the storm clouds draw closer signaling not only rain, but the return of their friend > With cool air sweeping over the field the fluffies are all celebrating > Thanking their oldest mummah for helping the herd > With the drought over and the sun obscured by clouds > The sky cries with the fluffies
