  1. >While sitting on your comfy chair, watching some television and eating dinner, you hear a something fall and shatter in the other room.
  2. >You set your food to the side and climb from your chair.
  3. >A flip of a switch kills the darkness that previously inhabited the room, and replaces it with a mask of light.
  4. >As you turn you take note to an open window, well not really open, but all of the glass is missing.
  5. >A full pane of glass is spread across the floor, glimmering like stars in the night sky.
  6. >Lying in the middle of the rubble lay a small decorative box with gold lace and a crimson bow.
  7. >Lazily, you shuffle your feet to the curious box and step through the broken glass.
  8. >As you pick up the box, you take notice to the immense heat it was giving off.
  9. >Doing a 360 inspection of the box, it seems to be symmetrical in design, a simple yet elegant looking shape a very intricate design of leaf and swirls.
  10. >A taught bow lie atop of the cube, its crimson color fit well with the designs on the box.
  11. >Removing the bow was easy, but opening the box proved to be rather difficult.
  12. >You tried prying it open with your fingers, but you had just cut your nails. A pair of tweezers was no help either; you just ended up bending them in the end.
  13.  >After failing multiple times in multiple ways, you gave the box another once over.
  14. >After taking notice to some text on the bottom of the box, you put the box down and fetched your glasses.
  15. >Returning to the elusive box, you flip it over and inspect the text.
  16.
  17.
  18. >It’s nothing you can read, but you run your finger over it.
  19. >The box starts heating up, and ringing.
  20. >To be completely honest, you thought it was a bomb.
  21. >Before you had a chance to throw it out the window, the room lit up in a blinding light and you dropped it.
  22. >The light only becoming brighter, as well a the ringing becoming louder.
  23. >As you covered your ears, your clothes felt like they were being pulled in all directions.
  24. >The room had become notable warmer, and your head began to throb.
  25. >An intense heat wave flushed through you like a freight train and you flew backwards.
  26. >Instead of hitting the armoire like you had expected, you landed flat on your back.
  27. >Opening your eyes, you felt greatly confused.
  28. >The celling that was previously over your head had been replaced with a dark blanket adorned with light dots and a large moon in the west.
  29. >Yeah, the previous confusion had been replaced with you questioning your sanity.
  30. >Galloping up from the left was a greyish purple mini horse with a horn.
  31. >If cartoonish eyes and flat color weren’t strange enough, the sparks flinging from its horn were leaving you speechless.
  32. >You manage to stumble out some gibberish under your breath as it approached.
  33. >”Anonymous! Is that you?”
  34. “Talking horse, how do you know my name?”
  35. >Wait a second, something isn’t right.
  36. >Horse is ok, talking on the other hand… not so much.
  37. “And how are you talking?”
  38. >”No time for questions, just follow me!”
  39.
  40.
  41. >Well, no point in sitting in the grass all night. Might as well follow it around.
  42. >Climbing to your feet, you take notice to the stern look it had on its face. It looked upset almost.
  43. “What’s up?”
  44. >”You called me a horse.”
  45. “And? What are you?”
  46. >”I am a pony, not a horse. It’s offensive to call  ponies horses.”
  47. >Stopping dead in your tracks, you look over to her and just stare,
  48. “You’re serious?”
  49. >”Very much so.”
  50. “Sorry, I didn’t know. What do you want me to call you?”
  51. >”Twilight is fine.”
  52. >You chuckle and walk on.
  53. >She leads you through a large outcrop of trees, down a dirt path, tree branches drape the road.
  54. >The smell of pine is heavy in the air and sounds of various night creatures ring out.
  55. >As you exit the noisy path, you are lead to a much more defined road that heads in the direction of a small town looking area.
  56. >Instead of following the road, you make a sharp left turn and head to a small shack.
  57. >She opens a mailbox and pulls out a key.
  58. >As you approach the shack you take notice to the boarded up windows and dirty walls.
  59. >She hands you the key and asks you to unlock the door.
  60. >You follow instructions and open the door.
  61. >The door is a little rough to open, but with a swift thrust of your shoulder into it, it budges and you pass in, one small purple pony in tow.
  62. >The room is small, boards are also on the inside windows, a work bench is across the room with blueprints rolled up on a shelf underneath it.
  63.
  64.
  65. >The musty smell is irritating your nose, and the dust is clouding your vision.
  66. >You watch as Twilight walks over to an electrical box on the wall and opens it.
  67. >It reveals a large red lever, she promptly flips it before sealing the box and returning to you.
  68. >A mechanical buzzing can be heard and your attention is drawn to a segment of floor that was dissimilar to the rest of the room.
  69. >It folds up and in giving way to a staircase and hallway.
  70. >”Follow me closely.”
  71. >It’s not easy to follow her closely, as your legs are twice as long as hers and your stride makes hers look like a crawl.
  72. >The staircase leads into a corridor with doors on each side and continues onward into another declining staircase.
  73. >Passing several doors, you head down stairs again and end up in what looks like a dried out sewer.
  74. >Rubble and cobwebs are everywhere to be seen.
  75. >As you step through the piles of rubble, you hear something shuffle in the distance.
  76. >Twilights horn begins to glow, lighting up the previously darkened tunnel.
  77. >About 15 yards away stand two dark grey ponies, stomachs shriveled and faces tight.
  78. >The one standing to the left snarls, and dragging a hoof across the rubble, and begins charging at you.
  79. >It is mere feet from you before you pull your leg back and unleash a power full punt.
  80. >Reassuringly you hear a satisfying snap and a sharp exhale.
  81. >The corpse falls to the ground in a limp manor and the second growls.
  82.
  83.
  84. >As it charges, you hear Twilight grunt and the light that was there changes from a dim purple to a bright green.
  85. >She huffs for a few seconds as the pony approaches her.
  86. >It connects to her with a loud thud and she goes flying back a few feet, landing on her side.
  87. >You rush to her and flip the ghastly looking pony off her.
  88. >Picking up a nearby piece of rubble, you lift It high In the air and smash it into the skull of the fiend with great force.
  89. >Blood and gray matter splatter across the tunnel, getting in your eye.
  90. >You quickly hop from the newly decapitated corpse and run your eye clear.
  91. >Twilight is sitting on her haunches, catching her breath, panting heavily.
  92. “What were those things?”
  93. >”Ferals. They are what happens to a pony when exposed to the raw elements for too long.”
  94. >”There is on reasoning with them, they are mindless and will attack on sight. We have Celestias permission to kill on sight, but it doesn’t make it any easier.”
  95. “What are these elements you are talking about?”
  96. >”No time right now, we need to make it to the safe house.”
  97. “What safe house?”
  98. >”Just follow along, and watch out for more of those ferals”
  99. >You continue down the path, taking several turns past doors and collapsed tunnels.
  100. >The stench is growing immensely stronger, very much similar to when you broke your arm and they took the cast off. Pure death is the only way to describe it.
  101.
  102.
  103. >It burnt your nose and made you ach for fresh air.
  104. >A short way down the path you see a small fire burning, and a few colorful ponies resting around it.
  105. >As you approach them, Twilight greets them and makes small talk for a short amount of time.
  106. >The group gawks at you for a little bit, one of them even prods you with a hoof, but you slap it away dismissively.
  107. >One of them says something about a bridge out ahead.
  108. >She says her goodbyes and you continue on your way.
  109. >You pass through a small hallway with metal boxes on both sides.
  110. >Opening one up, you see a small syringe with some bandages and medical cream.
  111. >You pocket the materials and check the next crate.
  112. >A medium sized leather satchel lay at the bottom, a bottle of water atop.
  113. >Inside the bag was a small box of bobby pins and a magazine labeled “Tumblers Today” and 1 flathead screwdriver.
  114. >Removing the materials from your pocket, you place them in one of the pouches in the bag and throw it over your back.
  115. >You continue with Twilight through another door and it leads to a bridge , that you guessed it, was broken about half way through for about 6 or 7 feet. The mesh was rusted out it looked, and had fallen through.
  116. >You look around and spot a decent sized piece of sheet metal on the other side of a chain fence with a lock on it.
  117. >You open the satchel and pick out the magazine, bobby pins and screwdriver.
  118.
  119.
  120. >Flipping through the pages, you see an article on how to pick locks and the one in the diagram looks similar to the one on the gate.
  121. >Following the instructions, you place the straightened bobby pin in the lock and place the screwdriver in next to it.
  122. >You apply force and the lock doesn’t move, so you rotate it.
  123. >The further left you go, the further you can turn it.
  124. >You finally find what you think is the “sweat spot” and push.
  125. >Right before it hits the middle, the pin snaps and the lock returns to its stationary position.
  126. >A little flustered, but not defeated, you take another bobby pin and repeat the steps.
  127. >This time though, on the first try you get the perfect spot and it clicks open.
  128. >Only at this time do you notice that Twilight has been watching over your shoulder the entire time.
  129. “You’re a quiet one.”
  130. >”Nothing to talk about now, but good job getting that open.”
  131. >After depositing the materials back into the bag, you climb to your feet and pull the gate open.
  132. >You hoist the heavier than you expected piece of sheet metal over your shoulder and checking the crate it was covering, you find a bottle labeled “Cider” that you quickly pocket, you carry the sheet over to the bridge.
  133. >You inch your way towards the middle and place the grate over the missing panel and give it a test.
  134. >You walk back to Twilight and pick up a large piece of rubble, it weighs probably 50 pounds.
  135.
  136.
  137. >Hobbling over to the bridge, you place the rubble on the make shift bridge and it doesn’t budge.
  138. >Removing the piece of rubble proved quite harder than placing it there, but you manage.
  139. >Tossing it over the railing and watching it smash into small pieces at it hit the ground was amusing.
  140. >Gingerly, you make your way across the bridge and Twilight follows.
  141. >You come across a door that won’t open.
  142. >Taking notice to some wires coming from the door something seems off. They seem to be leading to a small generator.
  143. >Inspecting the small generator, you see it’s been tampered with.
  144. >A small board inside of it has wires pulled from it.
  145. “Hey Twilight, do you think you could put some light in here?”
  146. >She shoots a beam of light into the box and clears up the mess for you.
  147. >You grab a yellow wire that should have been the socket, and attach it.
  148. “Go try the door again.”
  149. >She walks over and presses the button.
  150. >It slowly opens about half way.
  151. >She squeezes through, and you follow.
  152. >All the way at the end of this hallway you can see two torches lighting up the way.
  153. >The hallway you are in now is much cleaner than the previous ones, all the rubble seems to be removed and there are chairs strewn about.
  154. >Twilights hoofs connecting with the floor echo throughout the hall as you make your way to the end.
  155. >When you approach the door, Twilight approaches a computer terminal and unfolds the keyboard.
  156. >Pressing a few buttons on the board, the display lights up and the doors open.
  157.
  158.
  159. >She closes the terminal and walks up the stairs.
  160. >As you follow her, another pony walks into view.
  161. >You take a defensive stance, but Twilight reassures you that it is friendly.
  162. >A dirty white pony with gold chest plate and helmet, and a scruffy looking blue Mohawk on top. He seemed to be missing a few patches of hair, and his eyes were bloodshot.
  163. >He speaks out in a gruff voice catching your attention.
  164. “This the thing Celestia summoned?”
  165. >Twilight nods at him, and the guard moves out of your way.
  166. >You pass several guards before entering a grand room, full of cots and tables.
  167. >A large white pony sits atop of a grandiose char, two guard ponies similar in dress, but far healthier looking than the one that accosted you in the hall.
  168. >The large pony has a large horn, almost double the size of Twilights, and a pair of what looked like wings at her sides.
  169. >You were very confused by everything that was going on, and having to kill those two ponies was starting to set in.
  170. >As you approach the large horse, Twilight stops in place and bows to her, you follow and take a knee and lower your head.
  171. >While you are down you whisper to Twilight.
  172. “Why are we bowing?”
  173. >”She is royalty, it is customary.”
  174. >Rising from your knee, you make eye contact with the regal looking white goddess and she stares back.
  175. >She rises from her sitting position and unfolds her wings.
  176. >With a powerful flap, she is propelled into the air, and flutters to the ground in front of you.
  177.
  178.
  179. >Now that you are this close you can see all her details.
  180. >A large flowing mane of various streaks of bright colors, fading in and out of the air.
  181. >Her eyes are outlined dark and a tiara behind her horn.
  182. >”Hello, Anonymous is it?”
  183. “Yeah..”
  184. >Your answer comes out sounding reluctant and unsure.
  185. “Could you explain what is going on? One second I’m sitting in my chair enjoying some dinner, watching cops, next I’m walking through tunnel, fighting off rabid ponies.”
  186. >”Well, it’s a complicated situation Anonymous, I summoned you here to help me with a problem.”
  187. “So what, you chose me at random to be some kind of problem solver?”
  188. >”Random, no. Problem solver, yes. You see, I need someone to help me recover a select group of ponies to help me cure my world of this curse.”
  189. “Where do I come in here?”
  190. >”You Anonymous, have been chosen to be a member of my elite army to recover the ponies.”
  191. >”Should you choose to accept the mission, you will need to aid in the recovery of 5 ponies. They are spread around several locations, and their exact locations are unknown, but the general area is.”
  192. >”After finding them, you are to bring them back here and I shall cure them.”
  193. “Why would I help you?”
  194. >”If you choose to help me and my nation, when this whole fiasco is over, you will be able to return home, and you can do so with the knowledge that you saved an entire civilization from falling under.”
  195. “And if I decline?”
  196.
  197.
  198. >”You can live out your days here, living among filth and squalor, living life on the edge, always at risk.”
  199. >Well, she doesn’t really leave you with any options.
  200. “Alright where am I going?”
  201. >Her face lights up and she squeals.
  202. >”I am very happy to hear you accepting. I need you to travel to a town called Ponyville. It isn’t too far from our stronghold, and I will equip you with some survival tools. You are going to be looking for a Pony named Rarity.”
  203. >Shortly after the incident that left Equestria in the state it is in, she fell into a depression, and went into hiding. Last we heard, she was lingering somewhere near carousel Boutique.”
  204. >One of her guards approaches you with another satchel, a large scroll sticking from the top of it.
  205. >You remove the scroll and unravel it.
  206. >It appears to be a map of Ponyville, it labels all of the major buildings, as well as a few landmarks.
  207. >You roll it back up and put it back in the bag.
  208. >Inspecting the rest of the items in the bag you find a few medical supplies and a large combat knife.
  209. >Examining the knife, you take notice the marksmanship of the blade.
  210. >A grip that looks rather well formed to you.
  211.
  212.
  213. >You remove a sheath that was placed in the bag, and clip it to your belt loop and place the knife in the sheath.
  214. “Can I get a good night’s rest and some food before I go out?”
  215. >”Certainly, just follow that guard.”
  216. >A stocky guard is standing behind you, he leads you in the direction of a door with a short line coming out of it.
  217. >You cut to the head of the line and collect some food.
  218. >It’s not a huge meal, but you’re not in any position to complain.
  219. >It’s what looks like a blueberry muffin, a short stack of pancakes and a glass of juice.
  220. >After chowing down on the bland meal, you head down the hall and look for a free cot.
  221. >You plop down and place your bags under the bed and cover up.
  222. >While trying to fall asleep you think back over what went on that day.
  223. >From being transported to a strange world, to killing for survival, and now you are part of a rescue team.
  224. >Quite a weird day, but the only thing you can do now is try and get freedom.
  225. >With that thought, you slip into sleep and dream away.
