  1. >Five am is a lonely time of day you think to yourself as you crack an egg into a glass.
  2. >Rocky up in this bitch.
  3. >You hold the cup in the air and swirl its contents around several times as you eye the yolks that you're about to ingest.
  4. >You close your eyes and pour the admittedly sour concoction into your awaiting maw.
  5. >With several audible gulps you put the potential chicks into the gurgling expanse of your stomach.
  6. >You immediately rinse out the cup and fill it with water which you also drink to wash down the taste.
  7. >You smack your lips a couple times and head for your front door to start out on your morning run.
  8. >No geek shit for you, you don't care what the comics say.
  9. >You grab your pink hoodie off the hook next to the door and slip it on as you jog down your front walk.
  10. >Once you reach the sidewalk, you stretch a bit to loosen your muscles.
  11. >After a few minutes of twisting, you're off into the great, albeit chilly, beyond.
  12. >After half an hour of solid jogging, you're breathing is beginning to get heavy but you push on.
  13. >You see your street in the distance and inspiration hits you.
  14. >You fire up the afterburners and begin sprinting at full speed towards your home.
  15. >Remembering to breathe, you huff loudly before the sound of a bicycle interrupts your concentration.
  16. >You turn around and see a rather husky black dude on a bicycle pedalling quickly to keep up with you.
  17. >"Thassit Mac, push yourself kid!"
  18. >You stare at him in confusion but maintain your pace, your legs pounding the pavement as you near your destination.
  19. >"Don't stop till you're finished, all the way kid, all the way!"
  20. >You grunt as you speed past your house, slowing down only after you've passed your front yard.
  21. >You come to a halt several yards away from your house and bend over with your hands on your knees as you regain your breath as the man passes you.
  22. >"The world's waiting for you kid!"
  23. >You're not sure who that or Mac for that matter was but you know who you are.
  24. >Shining Armor, a rising star at your school as the first string center.
  25. >You smile inwardly at your fame as you stand back at full height and jog back to your house before slipping inside.
  26. >You pull your hoodie over your shoulders and slip it back onto it's hook before walking into the now bustling kitchen.
  27. >Your mom turns and smiles at you as she pours herself a cup of coffee.
  28. >"Good morning Shiny, how was your run?"
  29. >You sit down at the kitchen table next to your sister who is currently reading a book.
  30. >"It went well, I'm all warmed up for practice now."
  31. >She nods and returns her attention to the coffee maker, her robe hugging her behind tightly as you hear a voice in the back of your head.
  32. >"Not this time buddy."
  33. >Yeah, that's weird.
  34. >You sick fuck.
  35. >You tear your gaze away from your mom's shapely posterior and redirect it to Twilight.
  36. >"What about you Twily, got anything interesting planned for today?"
  37. >She retrieves a bookmark from somewhere and marks her place before setting it down to grin at you.
  38. >"Yep! The school library is getting some new books in today so I'm going to check them all out!"
  39. >Knowing her she probably means that literally.
  40. >"That's good. Maybe if you find something interesting we can read it together.
  41. >"Okay!"
  42. >She goes back to her book as your father walks into the room, dressed for work already.
  43. >"Morning son, have a good day at school alright?"
  44. >"Yes sir."
  45. >He nods approvingly before giving your mother a quick peck on the cheek and grabbing a cup of coffee for himself.
  46. >"I'll see you all when I get home from work."
  47. >You wave goodbye as your mother and sister each voice their farewells.
  48. >Once that's out of the way you stand up and take your leave, heading to your room to grab everything you need for the day ahead.
  49. >You grab your backpack and duffel bag before walking back to your front door.
  50. >Your mother intercepts you and gives you a quick hug. followed closely by Twilight.
  51. >"Don't get hurt during practice, I want you to be safe."
  52. >You nod and break away from her embrace to walk out of your house and down to your curb.
  53. >You turn and wave at both of them as they stand in the doorway and mimic the gesture back to you.
  54. >You smile to yourself and stroll towards the corner where your bus picks you up.
  55. >Twilight was still in middle school but she would be joining you next year.
  56. >Something to look forward to you suppose.
  57. >You sigh to yourself as your bus pulls into view before stopping in front of you.
  58. >You hear the door crank open with some effort and step inside, clutching your bags against to keep them from hitting anyone else.
  59. >You head towards the back and take an unoccupied row.
  60. >Unfortunately, all your luggage takes up an entire spot so there's no room for anyone to sit next to you.
  61. >You ride out the trip in silence as you stare out the window, watching as the sun slowly rises over the horizon.
  62. >As much as you like playing football you can't stand getting up this early.
  63. >Your school eventually comes into view, blotting out the warmth of sun with it's looming presence.
  64. >That building could probably sap the warmth and love out of anything.
  65. >You pause your fores- your thoughts and exit the bus.
  66. >You check your watch and see that practice is going to start in five minutes and the last thing you want to do is run laps for being late.
  67. >You groan and move from walking to jogging as you hustle towards the school's football field.
  68. >Man if only you could just teleport or something, life would be so much easier.
  69. >You arrive on the field a couple minutes before practice is ready to start, your teammates already in a huddle around your coach.
  70. >You drop your gear and quickly join them, wedging yourself in as subtly as you can.
  71. >"And loyalty. Now give me a few minutes and we'll start practice, until then feel free to talk amongst yourselves. Break!"
  72. >You disperse as into small groups as you look around for your bro.
  73. >You feel a tap on your shoulder and turn to find... no one?
  74. >"Gotcha."
  75. >You groan as you turn in the other direction to see Thunderlane staring at you with a shit-eating grin.
  76. >"You're so gullible sometimes dude."
  77. >"Shut up."
  78. >His grin relaxes into a pleased smile as he holds out his fist.
  79. >You bump it with your own before slugging him in the shoulder.
  80. >"Hey man, I need that arm."
  81. >You roll your eyes and shake your head, he may be the quarterback but you were the reason he did so well.
  82. >No one can get past you, meaning he's got all day to place his throws.
  83. >It's almost like you're his magical barrier or some shit.
  84. >"If it weren't for me you wouldn't even get a chance to use it."
  85. >"I still can't throw if you put me out of commission though, direct all that stuff towards the guys who want to plant me in the ground and see if I sprout."
  86. >Your conversation is cut short by a shrill whistle.
  87. >"Alright ladies, time to tear up that field! I want five lines across with eight man per line, do I make myself clear?!"
  88. >You all answer simultaneously in the affirmative and jog out onto the field.
  89. >"Thunderlane, lead the stretches! Start with feet touching and go from there!"
  90. >"Sir yes sir!"
  91.
  92.
  93. --
  94.
  95.
  96. >You laugh heartily as you wipe the sweat off your forehead and slap Thunderlane's back through his padding.
  97. >After an hour stretching, running and putting guys on their asses your ready for school to start.
  98. >You discard your padding as Thunderlane chugs down the contents of his water bottle.
  99. >You finish removing your pads and slip them into your duffel bag and grab a change of clothes and a towel.
  100. >"I'm gonna go hit the showers, see you in a bit."
  101. >He nods and shoos you away without removing the bottle from his lips as you head towards the school's showers.
  102. >You find an unoccupied stall and quickly discard your garments before taking a military style shower and changing into clothes that don't smell like something crawled in them and died.
  103. >Once you're changed you head back to the locker room where Thunderlane is waiting for you.
  104. >"Hey man, class is gonna start in five minutes. Let's go."
  105. >You nod and dump your dirty laundry into the laundry compartment of your duffel bag before shoving it into your locker.
  106. >You lock the door and join TL as you both walk towards class.
  107. >As you stroll along, your eyes wander and you suddenly realize you're looking at a well endowed rear.
  108. >You glance up and see a beautiful looking girl chatting with a couple of your school's cheerleaders.
  109. >You pause your gait and grab Thunderlane's shoulder to stop him before pointing at her.
  110. >"Hey, you recognize her?"
  111. >He follows your finger and nods.
  112. >"Uh, of course I recognize Cloudchaser dude."
  113. >You shake your head and point again.
  114. >"No not her, the girl in the middle."
  115. >He shakes his head.
  116. >"Nah, never seen her before. She's kinda cute, you gonna go talk to her?"
  117. >You stare at her for a couple more seconds before nodding.
  118. >"Yeah, I think I am."
  119. >"Well be quick, class is gonna start soon.
  120. >He pats your shoulder assuringly as you begin to casually stroll towards the group of girls.
  121. >Luckily for you they appear to be wrapping up their conversation as the mystery girl turns to her locker whilst the two cheerleaders walk off to class.
  122. >She turns and sees you approaching and waves cheerily.
  123. >"Hey there, I don't think I've seen you around before. Is this your first day?"
  124. >She giggles and nods.
  125. >"Yeah, I just transferred from up north a few days ago."
  126. >"Oh yeah? Sounds pretty cool. So what's your name then? Mine's Shining Armor."
  127. >You extend a hand which she takes and shakes.\
  128. >"Nice to meet you Shining Armor, I'm Pri-... I'm Cadance."
  129. >That was a little weird, she's probably just a bit shy.
  130. >"That's a nice name... so you've already got the layout of the school and everything down right?"
  131. >She shakes her head.
  132. >"No... I actually need some help finding my next class. Think you could help me?"
  133. >"Of course, what room is it in?"
  134. >She reaches into her backpack and pulls out a slightly crumpled piece of paper and looks at it momentarily.
  135. >"It's uh... 2-B."
  136. >You chuckle to yourself and turn around, pointing in the direction she's facing.
  137. >"Oh that's an easy one, it's right h-"
  138. >You hear a muffled gasp and a banging sound causing you to turn around.
  139. >Much to your surprise, Cadance is no longer present.
  140. >You call her name and wait several seconds until there is no response.
  141. >Well that was fucking weird.
  142. >You scratch your head and dismiss it, deciding to head to class.
  143. >As you turn around you hear a familiar banging so you immediately 180 and see Cadance climbing out of her locker.
  144. >"Cadance? Are you alright? What happened?"
  145. >She looks at you with a confused glare and huffs.
  146. >"I'm late for class, don't patronize me you working class scum."
  147. >She huffs and turns on her heel, walking away from you and her next class.
  148. >You blink your eyes in surprise at the rapid personality change she just underwent and try to piece together what the fuck just happened.
  149. >Your thoughts are desynchronized as a bell starts ringing, signalling the beginning of class and your subsequent tardiness.
  150. >You jump in surprise but quickly recover, sprinting in the direction of your classroom in hopes that you're teacher was late as well.
  151. >As you race down the halls, the lights suddenly begin to flicker.
  152. >You look up in surprise as they flash erratically before going out completely, a dim hue settling over the school. >You hear a scream erupt in the class next to you and quickly open the door to discover the problem.
  153. >Several black husks are crawling across the ceiling, dripping a sickly green ooze onto the students beneath them.
  154. >You recoil in horror as one of them shoots out their tongue and coils it around one of the students.
  155. >"Looooooveeeee..."
  156. >She screams as it latches what looks like a small mouth at the end of its tongue onto her forehead.
  157. >This spurs you to take action.
  158. >You quickly grab a chair from the empty desk next to you and heave it at the creature, the satisfying sound of splintering wood meeting your ears as it hisses angrily and releases the girl.
  159. >Unfortunately it and it's buddies decide to re-direct their attention at you instead, dropping onto the floor as they crawl menacingly towards you.
  160. >You take a couple steps backwards and glance pleadingly at the students in the class room.
  161. >One of them catches your gaze and grabs his own chair, running at the closest "thing" and quickly hitting it.
  162. >It recoils in pain and shrieks loudly, it's call finally waking the others from their surprise.
  163. >They all immediately grab anything close to them and begin to beat the living shit out of each of their attackers.
  164. >You join in, grabbing a yardstick from the teacher's table and jabbing them with it.
  165. >After a few seconds of pure violence, you all step back to survey the scene before you.
  166. >The three creatures are all broken and presumably dead, a large amount of their green slime pooling on the floor.
  167. >You step back and take a second to breathe as you digest what just happened.
  168. >Lights went out, you heard a scream, weird black bug things tried to eat a girl or something like that and one of them said "love".
  169. >Not a lot to go on so you decide to ask the class for more information.
  170. >"What happened in here? Are there more?"
  171. >The guy who helped you out first steps forward to answer you.
  172. >"We were waiting on our teacher to start class when all of a sudden the lights went out. Then those... things broke off the ceiling panels with light fixtures and crawled out of them and attacked us!"
  173. >You nod and rub your chin thoughtfully.
  174. >"I'm not sure what these are, I've never seen anything like them. Let's go talk to the principal and maybe call the police."
  175. >They all nod and follow you as you exit the class room, staying behind you as you cautiously moves towards the principal's office.
  176. >You arrive without any mishaps but remain on guard, your adrenaline rush from your last encounter hasn't work off just yet.
  177. >You knock on her door.
  178. >"Principal Celestia?"
  179. >You hear a very soft gurgling sound but nothing more.
  180. >You turn around and regard your comrades.
  181. >"I think we should break the door down."
  182. >They nod and you position yourself in front of the door, taking a few seconds to prepare yourself before riasing your foot and kicking the door below the lock at full force.
  183. >The door flies open to reveal a rather disquieting sight.
  184. >Principal Celestia is now nothing more than a withered gray corpse, a large tell-tale hole on her forehead evidence of her demise.
  185. >You immediately step back and sit down on the ground as the rest of the group begins to panic.
  186. >"Holy shit!"
  187. >"S-she's dead... she's actually dead."
  188. >"Dude what the fuck is going on?!"
  189. >"Game over man, game over!"
  190. >"Enough!"
  191. >Everyone stares at you as you stand up.
  192. >"Alright someone's dead, that means we need to call the cops or something and tell them what's going on. Anyone have a cell phone?"
  193. >Everyone shakes their head, unfortunately the school had a no phone policy to keep people concentrated ont ehir work.
  194. >You groan and shake your head disappointedly.
  195. >"Come on... one of you has to have something."
  196. >One of the girls looks from side to side shyly before raising a hand.
  197. >"Um... I might have an emergency cell phone in my locker. It's on the other side of the school though."
  198. >You look at her and nod.
  199. >"Okay good, at least that's something. We know these things are able to kill us now, so does anyone have any weapons?"
  200. >Another chorus of head shaking.
  201. >These school policies are killing you man.
  202. >"That's alright, we'll just have to make do with what we got I guess. As long as we stick together we can handle 'em.
  203. >You see the shy girl stick up her hand again.
  204. >You shake your head.
  205. >"Power's out, I doubt the phones are still working. I suppose it's worth a try though."
  206. >You walk into Celestia's office and go for her desk phone.
  207. >You pull up the receiver to your ear and listen for a dial-tone.
  208. >Sadly there isn't one.
  209. >You tap a few keys and get no response, slamming the ear piece back into it's place out of frustration.
  210. >"Just as I thought, nothing!"
  211. >You grumble to yourself as you rejoin the group.
  212. >"Alright so we'll stick to the plan, get to... what was your name?"
  213. >The girl meekly ducks her head and mutters.
  214. >"F-fluttershy..."
  215. >"Aright, Fluttershy's locker is where we're going. Let's keep together and make sure we don't have any blind spots. Two guys watching our back, two on our front and two on our left and right. The rest of you keep your eyes on the ceiling, we don't know when they could bust out again."
  216. >A chorus of acknowledgements pick up your spirits.
  217. >You can totally do this, just stay cool and stick to the plan.
  218. >You disembark towards the gym where Fluttershy's locker is located, maintaining a steady pace and constant vigil.
  219. >It's strange that you haven't seen any other students yet, but you're too busy to worry about it for now.
  220. >As you round a corner, you see a small pack of them crawling across the ceiling.
  221. >You immediately come to a halt and back everyone up so that they won't notice you.
  222. >Luckily for you they appear to be unaware of your presence and are actually talking to each.
  223. >You catch a small whiff of their conversation.
  224. >"Yesss.... we feed on much affection today brothersss."
  225. >A small chorus of "ayes" meet your ears.
  226. >"Done good my brothersss, but we still must find the armored one that the queen ssspoke of."
  227. >"Sssir?"
  228. >The one who appears to be in charge looks a bit confused.
  229. >"You ssspeak out of turn, what isss it?"
  230. >"Who ecksssactly isss the armored one?"
  231. >You see the leader facepalm and mumble to himself angrily.
  232. >"The one bearing the armor of courssse, he isss the one who will empower the queen. Now you know your routesss, go find him and any othersss who we can feed on!"
  233. >They ss... they salute and then scatter into various directions, leaving the one in charge alone.
  234. >Luckily for you none of them seem to crawl in your direction, but that last one is blocking your path.
  235. >You pull your head back around the corner to address your crew who are looking at you anxiously.
  236. >"Okay, we've gotta deal with that one, maybe distract him or just take him out. Any ideas?"
  237. >Everyone looks around as if seeing if someone else has an idea, much to your dismay.
  238. >"Alright alright, give me a second to think."
  239. >You look around the hallway and notice a fire extinguisher.
  240. >Maybe that can help somehow?
  241. >You go to retrieve it and hurry back to the group, grinning as you take a seat next to them.
  242. >"Okay, this thing is metal so it's going to make a ton of noise if it hits tiles right?"
  243. >A couple of them nod in understanding.
  244. >"So I'm just gonna chuck this in a direction that we're not going and hopefully he'll go after it. Then we can head towards Fluttershy's locker and get her phone and maybe get out of here or something."
  245. >They all nod and line up behind you as you prepare your throw.
  246. >After a couple seconds of mental prep, you toss it around the corner, sending it careening across the floor with a large scraping sound.
  247. >"What wasss that?! Whossse there?!"
  248. >You hear his hooves(?) clicking loudly against the ceiling as he crawls towards your hiding place.
  249. >You immediately turn to your friends and hold a finger to your mouth in warning, praying that none of them scream.
  250. >You see their eyes widen as the thing crawls towards you and then...
  251. >Immediately turns away from you and heads towards the fire extinguisher like you hoped he would.
  252. >You immediately stand up and walk as quietly as you can towards your destination, your friends in tow.
  253. >After a couple minute of painfully quiet walking you sigh in relief.
  254. >"Okay... we made it. Good job everyone, now where's your locker Fluttershy?"
  255. >She looks over to a row of lockers and walks towards on, putting in her combination before opening it slowly and retrieving a small bag.
  256. >"I-it's in here..."
  257. >She hands it to you, allowing you to rummage through it quickly.
  258. >Eventually you feel a small hard object and pull it o-
  259. >"This isn't a cell phone Fluttershy."
  260. >The aforementioned is now beet red and quickly places the not a cell phone back in the bag as your teammates giggle at her plight.
  261. >You ignore it and rummage again, this time producing a small flip phone.
  262. >"Ah, there we go. Thanks Fluttershy.
  263. >"Y-you too..."
  264. >This girl...
  265. >You ignore the pleasant aroma of marinara and quickly open the phone before dialing your country's emergency line.
  266. >"Keep an eye open while I make this call alright? I don't want us to get jumped while we're vulnerable."
  267. >They nod as you hold the phone up to your ear and wait for someone on the other end to pick up.
  268. >"This is [REDACTED], what is your emergency?"
  269. >"Yes I'd like to report a terrorist attack or something like that. There are these weird bug things at my school that kill you by sucking stuff out of your forehead. We need to be evacuated and the school needs to be quarantined!"
  270. >There's silence at the end of the line for a couple of seconds then a small sigh.
  271. >"Sir this is an emergency line, we do not appreciate prank calls."
  272. >"No that's no-"
  273. >You hear a small click and your hopes plummeting into an abyss.
  274. >You close the phone as everyone stares at you hopefully.
  275. >"So are they going to come save us? Are we gonna be okay?"
  276. >Your eyes are unable to meet theirs.
  277. >"She thought I was trying to prank her, no one's coming to help us..."
  278. >Your revelation is met by uncomfortable silence.
  279. >No, you can't let them down like this!
  280. >"We're just gonna have to help ourselves then, we can still escape! We've come this far after all, front entrance is only a few corridors away."
  281. >They perk back up considerably and begin to nod.
  282. >"Yeah... we can do this!"
  283. >"Can you now sssnacksss?"
  284. >All of you turn in surprise to see a large group of them eyeing you hungrily.
  285. >You do a quick count and realize that there's eight of them, that's one for one and you're completely unarmed!
  286. >"Run!"
  287. >You immediately begin sprinting in the opposite direction of your attackers, hoping that the rest of them are smart enough to follow.
  288. >You turn and see several of them running for their lives behind you, but unfortunately Fluttershy and two others have already been caught.
  289. >Their bone-chilling screams cause you to shudder but you push on, you've got to get out!
  290. >You chug along as you hear the indicative clicking of them giving chase and turn on the afterburners.
  291. >You hear a gasp or surprise as one of them gets scooped up by a stray tongue, followed by the pained cries of the already damned.
  292. >You see the door in front of you and charge towards it, pushing it op-
  293. >It's locked.
  294. >You turn around fearfully and scream at your remaining comrades.
  295. >"Door stuck! Door stuck!"
  296. >Your last two assistants skid to a halt and turn to see three of "them" grinning menacingly.
  297. >"Do you think we're ssstupid? The first they we did wasss lock you up like ratsss in a cage. You can't essscape us!"
  298. >Suddenly one of them shoots their tongue out at you and coils it around your ankle.
  299. >You immediately grab it and pull it away, ripping it apart in doing so.
  300. >It screeches in agony as its green ooze sprays all over you before crawling away to nurse it's wounds.
  301. >The other two stare in surprise at your actions but quickly recover.
  302. >"We'll jussst have to ussse two of usss for you then!"
  303. >They both shoot their tongues out, this time targeting your wrists and stretching them away from each other.
  304. >"H-help!"
  305. >You two comrades each grasp a tongue and pull with all their might.
  306. >They're unable to cut them but they do release your hands which allows you to grasp them yourselves.
  307. >You give each tongue a strong yank which pulls them from the ceiling and onto the floor.
  308. >You immediately take this chance to charge at one of them, grasping it in a headlock and mercilessly pounding away at its skull with your fist.
  309. >After a few smashes, you feel your hand break through it's thick carapace and meet with soft squishy meat.
