"To make a one hundred-word story, you need plot, location and conflict defined within 100 words, or less. It is mostly seen as a way for the author to practice his skills in editing and how to compress their work as much as possible.
This, however, can prove troubling when an author intends to make a compelling plot within those words, often breaking the limit and making them either write on or scrap it and start over.
Sometimes they give up completely due to the limit."
